This is the 9th chapter. I don't own the series of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Brother Bear Part 2
In the dream, Comet and Daylight were crying with sad heavy heart, missing Sitka ever since he made a sacrifice to save them and his brothers from the bear in the glacier. Princess Luna arrived in their dream, about to inform them when she took a glance, and saw them crying. She can tell something is wrong with them, as she approaches the two foals.
"Comet? Daylight?" Princess Luna called them softly, but the two foals couldn't look at her. "Oh, little ones, what's wrong?"
They then turned to the Princess of Night in teary eyes, which it was enough for her to know what happened. She then pulls them close to her, giving her a wing hug which the two foals hug her in return, crying their eyes.
"Shhh...Shhh...It's alright, let it out." Princess Luna said in a soothing tone when Chieftess Tanana approached which it got their attention.
"Chieftess Tanana?" Comet and Daylight said.
"I went to your tent to check on you two, but...I sense that you were exhausted from all of crying." Chieftess Tanana answered sadly, then turns to Princess Luna. "I believe I can tell you what happened."
Princess Luna nods with an understanding, decided to hear her explanation while giving Comet and Daylight some comfort.

After Chietess Tanana tell Princess Luna what happened during their stay at the village, the Princess of Night felt sad for the loss of Sitka as she looks down to the foals. Of course, Princess Luna is glad they made new friends and stayed in the village to stay warm while learning something new from the tribe but sadden to hear of Sitka's death as she turns her head to Chieftess Tanana.
"I am really sorry for your loss." Princess Luna said with sympathy, then hugs the foals and Chieftess Tanana nods.
"He's with the Great Spirits and I know they are watching him. But...I'm afraid there is something you should know." Chieftess Tanana told them, which it got their attention. "After the funeral, Kenai insisted that he's going after the bear."
"Why?" Daylight asks. "Couldn't Denahi stop him?"
"He tried, but anger and grief had driven him to revenge. Kenai tracks down the bear and killed it, before Denahi ever tried to stop him for doing anything foolish." Chieftess Tanana explains. "The Great Spirits were very upset, even Sitka is disappointed at his brothers' action. So, the spirits turned Kenai into a bear."
"What?!" Comet and Daylight exclaims in shock.
"Yes, Kenai upsets the spirits, and he's now a bear." Chieftess Tanana answered.
"What about Denahi?" Comet asks. "Did he know about this?"
"I'm afraid not...And I'm afraid Denahi is going to end up the same mistake as Kenai did." Chieftess Tanana told him sadly. "But right now, we must find Kenai. And I know where he could be."
Princess Luna then breaks the hug since they're about to wake up very soon and she knows both Comet and Daylight going to be in for another long journey. She'll have to inform Twilight and the others whenever she gets a chance.
Later that morning, Kenai groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, noticing he's not at the mountains. He looks around to see that he's in the forest and saw eagle perching from its branch, then flies into the sky. He turned his head when Chieftess Tanana, Comet, and Daylight appeared in front of him.
"So, Kenai, you decide to join the living?" Chieftess Tanana asks with a smile, wriggling the rag while nursing him. "Oooh, that's quite a bump you got there. That must've been a heck of a ride down those rapids, huh?"
"Tanana?" Kenai groans, rubbing the back of his head as he gasps with his eyes wide. "Tanana, you wouldn't believe this! I was at the top of this huge rock, and of a sudden-"
Tanana can only hear Kenai growl and grunt, but Comet and Daylight were able to understand him thanks to Fluttershy's lessons. She turns her head to Kenai and walk close to him.
"Kenai, honey." Chieftess Tanana said as she shushed him. "I don't speak bear."
It got Kenai confused when she mentioned bear, looking down at his reflection which made him shocked of his new appearance as a bear.
He now has a light brown pelt with patches of darker fur on his ears, legs, and underbelly, though his muzzle is a light cream color. He has thin eyebrows, a dark brown nose, and a slight hump on his back.
Kenai then stands on his hind legs, look at himself which got him in disbelief, couldn't believe that he's a bear. But turns his head to his tail which made a wiggle as he screams at the top of his lungs, causing the flock of birds to fly and the herd of caribou turned their attention to the source of that sound. Kenai begins to panic and Chieftess Tanana tried to get him to calm down, which it doesn't seem to work as Daylight uses her magic to levitate a rock and throws it right at Kenai in the head.
"Thank you, Daylight." Chieftess Tanana said, then she approached him. "Now, Kenai, listen to me! Sitka did this."
Kenai then remembered of his brother looking at him with disappointment and turning him into a bear, which it made him wonder why. Comet and Daylight knows the reason why, but Chieftess Tanana begins examining the bear which made her curious. Though, she already knows, but didn't say anything to Kenai as she looks at him.
"Strange...Spirits don't usually make these kinds of changes." Chieftess Tanana said, but gasp as she looks at his mouth which Comet and Daylight snickered at that. "Oh! Oh, my, my, my, my! Sitka must have really big plan for you. Yep, yep, yep! You are gonna get a whole new perspective on things. Oh, do you see black and white? Or color?"
Once Chieftess Tanana finished examining Kenai, he tries to respond but it got her poked him in nose which made him flinched back.
"Alright, listen to me! You got yourself into this mess." Chieftess Tanana told him sternly, then shows him the sky. "If you want to change, take it up with your brothers' spirit."
Kenai is confused about it, but Comet and Daylight thought the same thing which made them wonder how.
"You find him on the mountain where the lights touch the Earth. He'll help you make up for what you've done wrong." Chieftess Tanana suggested, drawing a mountain where the lights touch the Earth through dirt.
"But I didn't do anything wrong!" Kenai denies, but noticed she isn't here. "Tanana? Tanana!"
"How did she do that?" Comet asks, shocked.
"For somepony who's old, she sure is fast." Daylight said.
"Wait, I didn't do anything wrong!" Kenai shouts which it got their attention.
"Did you?" Comet inquires with a glare, earned his attention. "That's not what the spirits sees."
"Wait, you can understand me?" Kenai asks, astonished.
"Yes, you can thank Fluttershy." Daylight told him. "But Kenai, you're the one who upsets the spirits and Denahi warned you for going after the bear."
"The young ones are right, Kenai." The voice of Nava said, earned their attention when they saw an elder wolf at the woods.
"Nava!" Comet and Daylight said happily as they ran to them, hugging the wolf.
"Hello, young ones." Nava greets with a chuckle as they break a hug. "But shouldn't you two be heading home? Your families would be worried."
"Wait, you two know him?" Kenai asks curiously.
"Nava was once the leader of the wolf clan, until he passes the leadership to Aleu." Daylight answered, made Kenai realized and remembered of their story about Nava and the wolf clan.
"But the spirits told me about you killing a bear and punished you by turning into one." Nava told him calmly, yet sternly. "I see it's true."
"But I didn't do anything wrong!" Kenai denies when Comet and Daylight raises their eyebrows. "I don't even know how to get there."
"Then, why don't we ask for some directions." Comet suggested. "It's better than wander around the forest and getting lost."
They then looked up at the sky, seeing the flock of wild geese migrating as they follow, but stops when they saw two moose.
The first moose on the left is medium-sized. He's slightly smaller and skinnier, with a less prominent hump on his back. His fur is brown tinged with orange, though his muzzle and underbelly are darker in color. He has a short brown mane and beard, antlers, and brown eyes.
The second moose on the right is large-sized. He's tall and large stature, with a less prominent hump on his back. His fur is, though his muzzle and underbelly are darker. He has short dark brown mane and beard, antlers, and brown eyes.
"What's he getting all work up about, eh?" The big moose asks.
"Gee, I don't know. Maybe a goose pooped on him, eh." His brother answered, chuckled which they noticed a bear, an elder wolf, and two foals.
"Oh, gee, I think they're looking over here." The big moose warned as they scatter. "Let's beat it! T-This way!"
"No, no, no! This way!" He said, but they butted their heads and their antlers got tangled.
"Oh gee, thank you very much!" The big moose said with a grunt, sarcastically while trying to untangle themselves.
"Just...stay still!" He told him.
"Hey, you two!" Kenai called him, run after them while Comet, Daylight, and Nava followed him as the two moose gasp.
"Head down, head down!" He said, dragging him down under the log, but their rumps were seen.
"Oh gee, I think he see us, eh. Now what?" The small moose asks in a whispered tone.
"Act like we're not here." He answered.
"Oh." The small moose said. "Uh, we're not here!"
Though, Kenai, Nava, Comet, and Daylight aren't convinced since they can hear them from under the log.
"What are you doing, eh?" The big moose scolds, kicks him as they argue, Kenai popped his head under the log.
"Um, excuse me." Kenai said which made them spooked as they back away in panic, causing them to look at the two moose.
"Please don't eat us!" The small moose pleads. "You wouldn't like us, eh! We're really gammy!"
"Yeah, eat hoof-for-brains over here!" The big moose suggests, much to his dismay.
"Oh nice, eh, pinecone breath!"
"Crusty tail!"
"Twig legs!"
"Big nose!"
That made the small moose gasp, sadden.
"Sorry." The big moose apologizes.
"You went too far that time." The small moose said.
Much to their annoyance, Kenai decided to help them by untangling their antlers.
"Guys, we're not eating anybody." Kenai told him, much to their relief when the small moose falls to the ground.
"Yeah, and just for the professional curtsy, me and my brother don't eat meat." Daylight points out.
"Oh, that's mighty of ya, eh." The big moose said with a smile as the small moose stood back up.
"Yeah, hey! My name is Rutt, and this is my brother, Tuke." Rutt introduces himself and his brother.
"It's nice to meet you both." Nava said with a chuckle. "I'm Nava, I'm the former leader of the wolf clan."
"This is my sister, Daylight Savings, and I'm Comet Stardust." Comet adds, then turns to Kenai. "This is Kenai."
Kenai glances at Comet with an annoyed glare.
"We've got a question; do you guys know where we can find the mountain where the light touches the Earth?" Daylight asks.
"Yeeaaaahhhh, no. Uh, no, sorry, Daylight." Rutt answered which he and Tuke don't know where the mountain is, causing the foals to groan.
"Look, I'm not a bear! I'm a stallion!" Kenai told them, leaving them two moose laughed. "I was transformed into a bear, magically. I was lifted into the sky by brother."
"Uh-huh." Tuke said but doesn't believe him. "He's crazy!"
"Gesundheit." Rutt replied to his brother.
"No, a fruitcake!" Tuke said with a fake cough.
"Are you okay?" Rutt asks, looking at his brother with concern.
"No, that bear, over there...he's crazy!" Tuke told him, again with the fake cough.
"I am not crazy!" Kenai snapped.
"Um, Kenai, I don't think they believe you." Daylight said in a whispered tone, earned a glare from the bear.
"And, whoever said you were? We understand." Tuke told him, decided to play along with a smirk.
"You do?" Kenai inquires, but Nava, Comet, and Daylight knew where this is going since the two moose decided to be funny.
"Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah." Tuke nods at his brother, then slowly walking to Kenai on the other side with a playful smirk. "You see, we're not moose, either."
"W-We're not?" Rutt asks surprisingly, but confused as well which Kenai thought the same.
"No." Tuke answered with a scoff. "We're like, uh...we're like squirrels! Yeah."
Comet and Daylight chuckled a bit, watching Tuke jump a little which Kenai is annoyed while Nava smirks with amusement. Rutt realizes that his brother is only teasing him.
"Oh...Oh, yeah! Beauty, eh?" Rutt said with a smirk, playfully jabs Kenai with his antler. "Yeah, well, he...He's actually the squirrel, I'm...I'm more of a purebred wolverine. Look at these cuspids."
Rutt then growls which Kenai is getting even more annoyed, but Comet and Daylight laughed a little.
"Give him a little room." Tuke said, causing Kenai to sigh.
"Why am I even talking to a couple of dumb moose?" Kenai questions when both Rutt and Tuke got close to him.
"No, we're squirrels?" Tuke asks with a smirk.
"Wolverine." Rutt whispered to his ear which Kenai swatted him away.
"I'll find it myself." Kenai said, pushes them away and walked past ahead of the three.
"Oh, I wouldn't go that way." Rutt warns him.
"Why not, eh?" Tuke asks, confused.
"Uh, well, there was a reason." Rutt said with ponder.
While Rutt and Tuke argue, Kenai just scoffs and try to get to the mountain where the lights touch the Earth on his own. Then, Kenai got caught by a snare trap and being tossed from a rock to a tree, and the ground. Rutt, Tuke, Nava, Comet, and Daylight were watching him get hit again and again.
"So, you think of it yet?" Tuke asks as he walked away.
"Well, no, but it's driving me nuts too, eh?" Rutt answered, following him.
Kenai couldn't help but grunt in pain, holding his head while Nava, Comet, and Daylight approached him.
"So, need a hoof there, Kenai?" Comet asks with a smirk.
"Very funny." Kenai grunts sarcastically when he notices a stick on the ground next to the rock.
He starts swinging himself, but a shadowy figure quietly ran to find a place to hide which Nava can hear that. Kenai swings to the rock, then grabs a stick.
"Psst. Hey." The voice called coming from underneath the rock, earned their attention. "Is the coast clear?"
"What?" Kenai asks, confused.
"Are there any hunters around?" He asks again which Comet, Daylight, Nava, and Kenai begins to understand what he's telling him.
"Uh...no." Kenai answered, raising his eyebrow.
"Oh good!" The bear cub said happily, revealing himself and making Kenai yelp, letting go of the rock and a stick which got him smacked by a tree. "How are you doing? Guess you didn't see a trap, huh? I saw it from a mile away. You must be pretty embarrassed. Don't worry...I won't tell anyone."
The bear cub is rather small thin. His main pelt is dark brown, though his neck is lined by orange fur. His inner ear, legs, and paws are slightly darker in color while his muzzle is tan. He has a tuft of fur on his head and thicker lips.
"What?" Kenai said, confused when the bear cub noticed the elder wolf and the two foals.
"Hey, I thought you said there weren't any hunters." He said, turning to Kenai.
"I can assure we're not, young one. We're friends of Kenai." Nava told him calmly. "I'm Nava, and this is Comet and Daylight."
"Oh, well good to meet you guys. I'm Koda." Koda said with a smile, then turns to Kenai as he grabs the stick. "Anyway, you need to get down. Let me help."
When Kenai was about to protest, Koda accidentally whacks him by the back paw, then between the sternum and the stomach, between the legs, and then under the chin three times.
"Stop it!" Kenai shouts.
"It's no use." Koda said with disappointment but turns his head to Kenai with a smirk. "The only way to get down, is to chew your own foot off."
That got Comet and Daylight shivered up their spine, felt like they don't want Kenai to do that, and it'll give them nightmares. Nava didn't like the idea, either, but remained calm.
"I don't need some stupid bears help. I just need the stick." Kenai told him with a glare, rubbing his head.
"Uh, Kenai, you are a bear." Comet said, but earned a dirty look from him.
"Okay, here." Koda said, extends the stick to him.
"No, no, no. I'll do it myself." Kenai denies. "Put it back...No, where you found it."
It got Koda realize, decided to place the stick back to the ground.
"T-T-To the left. By the little rock." Kenai told him.
"Here?" Koda asks, placing the stick down.
"Yes." Kenai answered as Koda sits down next to the log while Comet, Daylight, and Nava lays on the ground.
"Okay." Koda said as they watch Kenai swings himself to the stick, but couldn't reach while the bear cub grabs hold of the berries. "Boy, that tree is strong, huh? You know, when I was little, I was really into climbing trees, all kinds of trees. I climbed pine trees, oak trees, fig trees, maple trees, birch trees, willow trees..."
Kenai has been at it for hours and the sun is setting, Koda kept on talking while Comet, Daylight, and Nava were able to find something to eat and having the bear cub keeping him company. They arrived and saw Kenai still trying to reach the stick, which he's starting to get tired.
"...My eyes were watering, and my tongue was swollen, and from that moment on, I was more careful about what I lick." Koda continued.
"Is he still at it?" Daylight asks, raising her eyebrow.
"Yep." Koda answered, causing Comet to sigh since he had enough as he used his magic to cut the rope, which made Kenai land on the ground hard with a grunt. "Ooh! That was funny! Do it again!"
"Koda, I don't think it's a good idea." Daylight told him. "Someone could get hurt."
"Couldn't say the same about me." Kenai grunts, rubbing his head and then turns to Comet. "Don't do that again!"
"Hey, I got you, didn't I?" Comet said with a shrug, but Kenai then turned to Koda.
"Don't you have someplace to be?" Kenai questions.
"Yeah, the Salmon Run." Koda answered quickly.
"Salmon Run? What's that?" Comet asks which he and his sister are confused.
"A Salmon Run is a place where it has multiple rivers and waterfalls that connect and divide in every location surrounded by giant rocks and a few trees." Nava explains. "It's also a sanctuary for the bear clan."
"How did you know?" Koda asks, surprisingly.
"I've met one of the leaders of the bear clan a long time ago and made a peace treaty with them." Nava answered.
"And who is the leader of the bear clan?" Daylight asks.
"His name is Tug, he's the leader." Koda answered to the filly. "But don't worry, he's friendly."
"Hmm, haven't seen Tug the last time I came." Nava said. "I think it's best we find shelter to rest up for the night. By then, we'll be heading to the Salmon Run."
"Yeah, but here's what I'm thinking, we travel by day and sleep by night." Koda suggested. "My bedtime is an hour after sunset. Or I think...Run!"
After Koda caught the scent, he ran.
"Yeah, good riddance!" Kenai said, but noticed that Comet, Daylight, and Nava somehow vanished. He caught his scent that was familiar.
Denahi quickly hid behind the trees with a pant, but quickly deepens his scowl as he slowly approaching him. Kenai turned his head and saw his brother, who had an angry look on his face.
"Denahi? Denahi, you found me!" Kenai said happily, but Denahi can only hear the roar. "You wouldn't believe what a nightmare this has been!"
Denahi then rises his spear which made Kenai scared.
"Denahi? I-It's me, Kenai!" Kenai shouts, but Denahi thrust spear and the bear ran, made him miss.
Kenai runs faster down the hill, then falls down into the river with a grunt. He stood up with a heavy pant as he looks at the glacier, but noticed a crack as he quickly run towards it and made it inside. He stops himself, turned back and saw his brother not following. Much to his relief, but gasp when he heard the cracking sound and saw Denahi above him from the ice as he quickly leans against the wall, watching Denahi trying to search for him.
"Is he gone?" Koda asks, which made Kenai gasp and Denahi quickly turns. "I he was going..."
Kenai quickly grabs him and cover his muzzle, shushing him, but Koda struggles. He then waited for Denahi to move, which he did by running. Soon as Denahi is out of distance, Kenai sighed with relief.
"Hello? I can't breathe." Koda groans, frees himself and lands on the ground.
Nava, Comet, and Daylight entered inside of the iced cave when they turned to the two bears.
"You two alright?" Nava asks, but only earned a nod from the bear cub.
"Why is he chasing me?" Kenai questions.
"That's what they do." Koda answered with a scoff.
"But it's not like him." Kenai said sadly.
"Maybe it's because you're a bear, and...he thought you're dead." Daylight clarifies which made Kenai shocked and Koda confused.
"What?" Koda said.
"It's complicated." Comet told him, when they slowly walk to the ground.
"I'm afraid we'll have to rest here for now. We'll head out by morning." Nava suggested.
"Well, anyway, lucky for him, he didn't find us, 'cause when I get into a fight, I go all crazy, and I'm raging ball of brown fur." Koda said, grunts when he falls to the ground, and it got their attention. "I mean, I don't want to brag or nothing, but I got some moves."
"Oh, really?" Kenai asks sarcastically.
"Yep. This first one...Well, it's just a little thing, I like to call, 'The Slasher'!" Koda answered, proved his point his standing on his hind legs and swipes his maul. "And this one I like to call 'Flying Fury of Death'!"
Koda then unleashes the flurry of swipes of his mauls, which Kenai is unimpressed. He decides to play a trick.
"He's coming back!" Kenai said with a gasp.
"Where?" Koda frightfully said, hid Kenai from behind which made Comet and Daylight chuckle.
"Typical." Kenai scoffs, making Koda nervously chuckle.
"Yeah, well, the next time we run into that hunter-"
"There is no 'we'. OK?" Kenai said in annoyance. "I'm not going to the Salmon Run."
"What?! Why?!" Koda exclaims in shock.
"Things change, see ya, kid." Kenai said, then walks away.
"Kenai, you won't survive on your own! And you know Denahi won't stop until he kills you, is that what you want?!" Daylight called him, which Kenai stops. "You don't even know where the mountains at, either."
"She's right, it's better if you stay together." Nava agrees. "Going back in that forest with him around, will be your death and he'll lose another."
Kenai knows they're right, but he's just too stubborn to admit or asking for their help. He was about to continue walking when Koda called him.
"Wait." Koda said, making Kenai stop again as the bear cub sighed in sadness. "The truth is, I got separated from my mom. And now, with this hunter around..."
"Kid, I got my own problems." Kenai told him, glances at the bear cub.
"Come on, please? Can't we just go together?" Koda pleads. "There's lot of bears and a ton of fish. And every night, we watch the lights touch the mountain, and last year, we..."
"Wait, what did you just say?" Kenai asks which it got his attention when the bear cub mentions the lights touch the mountain.
"There's lots of bears and tons of fun." Koda answered.
"No, you mentioned the lights touch the mountain." Comet said. "Do you know where it is?"
"Yeah, it's at the top of the mountain right by the Salmon Run." Koda replied.
"You're kidding me." Kenai said, raising his eyebrow.
"He's telling the truth, Kenai." Nava told him. "The mountain where the lights touch the Earth is next to the Salmon Run."
"Yeah, c'mon, I'll show you. It'll be great." Koda agrees which Kenai sighs, couldn't believe the bear cub knows where the lights touch Earth is and it happens to be next at the Salmon Run. "I promise to help you escape from every trap you walk into."
"I'm not gonna walk into any more traps." Kenai remarked, which Comet and Daylight just snickered a bit. "What are you two laughing at?"
"We couldn't help it; you fell for that snare trap, and it got you in a bit a snag." Daylight said as she, Comet, and Koda laughed.
"Ha, ha, ha, very funny!" Kenai retorted.
"C'mon, what do you say?" Koda offered when he stops laughed while Kenai groans.
"You're sure you can take me where the lights touch the Earth?" Kenai questions, turned to Koda.
"Yeah, no problem!" Koda answered, causing Kenai to groan which he decided to go with him along with Nava, Comet, and Daylight.
"If you slow us down..."
"I won't, I promise!" Koda told him.
"Alright, we'll leave first thing tomorrow." Kenai said, lays on the ground to get some sleep while Koda, Nava, Comet, and Daylight did the same.
For now, Kenai can trust Koda since he knows where the lights touch the Earth is, but apparently, they'll be in for a long journey to get there. However, Denahi is still searching for him, and he won't rest until he kills the bear.
That's it for 9th chapter.
