Episode 125: Gwespin for the Win!
After Peter made the command, Spidermin leaped over to Rikoshay and used his extra gold limbs to point toward Doctus' tentacles that were reaching above Mystri's Smokescreen gas toward Kraven's spear. Rikoshay responded by sending the discs along his arms at the tentacles, though they missed. Meanwhile, Hornetech flew toward Kraven with his Sonic Flight but was unable to grab Ben.
"The gas is making Peter's Marémon become disoriented, just like what happened during our first encounter with Kraven," MJ whispered, hiding behind Madame Web's chair. "If only there was some way to get rid of it."
"You would need to attack Mystri directly for the gas to end, Miss Jones," Madame Web said to MJ quietly. "And I believe your Noirspi has Spider-Tracer, which can allow it to seek out Mystri in the midst of this chaos."
MJ picked up her PDB. "Do you think Kraven will notice?"
"He will, but I know how to distract him," replied Madame Web. "Spinwom, Venom Blast Kraven!"
From the ceiling, Spinwom spat a yellow substance out of her mouth. It burned when making contact with the ground, though Kraven managed to dodge the falling venom much to Madame Web's annoyance. As this was happening, MJ summoned Noirspi who crawled on silent padded feet toward Mystri.
"When you get to Mystri, use Twin Revolver to incapacitate him!" MJ shouted.
Immediately, Noirspi shot at Mystri with explosive metal pellets from its forelegs. Mystri's glass bowl was shattered, causing it to writhe in pain and fall onto the ground. The Smokescreen Gas immediately cleared up, showing where Peter and Kraven's Marémon were in relation to one another while exposing MJ peaking out from behind Madame Web's chair.
"I thought I recognized your voice," Kraven said as he looked at MJ. "You're one of the kids who was with Captain Rogers. Did he succumb to that spear wound I gave him?"
"No, he recovered just fine," MJ responded.
"Just as I expected from a Super Soldier," replied Kraven. "So where are your friends, including that little boy with the pathetic Spidermin?"
"Peter's Spidermin is not pathetic!" said Peter. When Kraven gave him a confused look, Peter responded, "I know this, because I'm a close friend of his."
"Then if you really are a close friend, you would know where he is," Kraven realized.
"Why should you care, Kraven?" Peter asked. "He's just a kid looking to become the next Marémon Hero."
"My associates at HYDRA think this boy and his friends have become a nuisance to their ultimate plans. They have instructed me to eliminate these children if I ever make contact with them again while still continuing my special mission."
This peaked MJ's interest. "What special mission?"
"Maybe I've said too much," Kraven replied. "And while we were talking, my Doctus was still reaching for my spear."
Looking up, Peter saw Doctus' orange-and-green tentacles grab Kraven's spear and toss them down to his Wielder. Gripping his spear in both hands, Kraven charged at Peter but was blocked by Spidermin. He used his extra gold limbs to block each spear strike while trying to use his Stingers to puncture Kraven. Yet no matter how many times Spidermin struck, Kraven wasn't succumbing to Spidermin's paralyzing venom.
"Thanks to a special potion my Witch friend Calypso gave me, I can withstand various toxins and am stronger than a normal person," Kraven said as he pushed Spidermin away from him with brute force.
"I find that hard to believe," Peter interjected. "Cuz in case you didn't know, some crazy Witch in Sokovia City killed all the Witches in the world except for one."
"Ah, yes, the incident in Sokovia," Kraven recalled as he turned to face Peter. "I heard all about that on the news while I was busy incapacitating Black Panther on his way to Wakanda City."
"You did what?" Peter couldn't believe it, considering Black Panther nearly took him out in the evidence room of Nova Corps headquarters.
"That's right, Spider-Boy," Kraven taunted as he thrust his spear in Peter's direction. "For as strong and powerful as the Black Panther claimed to be, I was able to subdue him without much difficulty. But just before I could kill him for good, he escaped my grasp. Now do you honestly think you could beat me, knowing what I did to Black Panther?"
"Yes, I do," Peter said confidently. "Because I've got you right where I want you to be. Now, Madame Web!"
"Gwespins, contain Kraven and his Marémon under a giant Stun Web!" ordered Madame Web.
From various parts of the cave, a dozen Gwespins emerged and wove a giant electric web which they dropped down. Peter called his Marémon back into their PDBs while Spidermin dragged Ben out of the way with his extra limbs. The electric web stunned Kraven while Doctus, Kamelio, and Mystri struggled against it. But despite their struggles, they soon fell onto the cave floor in a big pile.
"We did it!" MJ cried for joy. "And it was all thanks to your brilliant plan, Peter!"
"I did see several possibilities where your plan didn't work," Madame Web interjected. "But, you managed to surprise me. So perhaps Ben was right after all."
After Ben was taken to an infirmary area by the Gwespins, Peter and MJ were told by Madame Web that they could leave the cave whenever they were ready. So they gathered their things, checked to make sure their Marémon were okay physically, and met Madame Web in the main chamber with her Spinwom by her side.
"To show my gratitude for protecting me against Kraven, I would like to give you both some parting gifts," Madame Web said and held up the costume Peter wore. "Peter Parker, this is yours to keep. I sense you'll need it more in the near future."
"Um, thanks, Madame Web," Peter said as he took the costume from Madame Web's hands.
"Michelle Jones, here is a new companion for you to take care of." Madame Web picked up a Gwespin that was riding on top of Spinwom's back and held it out to MJ. "She is only a juvenile, but is well-trained and will be a useful Marémon to have for your upcoming Marémon Lovers competitions."
