Chapter 12: A healthy meal.

Inside the apartment, the atmosphere was still tense. Kofa, who had entered at Hinata's insistence, sat on the small chair, looking with a mixture of discomfort and curiosity at his girlfriend's perfect back. Hinata, with her calm demeanor, went to the kitchen without losing her sweet smile, although her gaze still held a slight glint of menace.

Kofa tried to relax, but every time his eyes met Hinata's, the weight of the situation made him more timid. The memory of the Hyuga's murderous look when he had arrived at the door kept haunting his mind, after all, who tells him to do it, idiot, to invite other girls when he has a beautiful and fantastic girlfriend.

Kofa thought, "Did I really think I could invite Katsuyi over without her finding out?" He said as he ran a hand through his hair. He looked out the window, trying to ignore the sound of knives chopping ingredients in the kitchen in a louder way than they should and imagined his little friend being cut. The mental image made him break out in a cold sweat.

Katsuyi, who was still outside, still didn't quite understand what had just happened. After a few moments of deliberation, she decided to go inside, but with an almost palpable caution. She knew that her two friends were up to something, but she was afraid to find out what it was. She didn't want to believe that Kofa, a guy she likes, had something to do with Hinata.

Katsuyi muttered under her breath, "Should I go? Or… what am I doing here?" Katsuyi said to herself, nervously looking towards the kitchen, not daring to take the next step and fully enter her own home.

Hinata, who had finished cooking at some point, came out of the kitchen with a tray of food in her hands, quickly serving everyone at the table.

She comforted the blonde. "Don't worry, Katsuyi," she said with a calm that contrasted with the tension of the environment and continued speaking without losing sight of Kofa's tense figure. "We must all learn to live together. If Kofa-kun wants to invite you, then welcome. Food is the most important thing now, isn't it?" she said with a tone full of sarcasm and staring at the stiff back of the reincarnated boy.

Katsuyi nodded quickly, although she still wasn't sure what had happened, she felt that Hinata was right.

She also never felt that the relationship between them was just normal, rather they seemed like a couple of lovers and that bothered her deep down in her soul, she didn't know what that feeling was, as if something important was taken away. With a characteristic smile she nodded and sat down in the chair.

Kofa, for his part, took advantage of the moment to relax a little. At least, the meal seemed to be a respite. He thanked the Gods mentally. "Thank you, Hinata," he said, relieved, and sat down to eat.

Hinata, who had sat in front of him, stared at him and spoke in a whisper. "I see," she replied, her tone of voice still calm, but to Kofa that was the very voice of the devil.

Katsuyi looked at Kofa and asked, "Kofa. Were you really going to invite me to eat? Do you like me?" the Uzumaki asked with a normal face, but her blue eyes betrayed her.

Kofa looked at Hinata, then at Katsuyi, not knowing if he should speak or if the situation was still unsafe. But in the end, he decided that he should be honest and without further delay he answered. "Yes, just as you heard Katsuyi was going to ask you out, we can't right now. How about we go out later?" he said without hiding anything and prayed that Hinata understood what he was trying to do.

Hinata stared at him, not interrupting, but her expression seemed to understand more than Kofa wanted to admit. She was an expert at reading between the lines, and her patience was one of her most dangerous traits, and she understood Kofa very well. She knows everything about Kofa, all his birthmarks, scars, favorite foods, what he hates, what he loves, what he likes.

Hinata with a smile said —So, you want Katsuyi to forgive you for something you don't even fully understand? What if all this gets confused and Katsuyi thinks other things?— asked the girl with long black hair and looked directly at Kofa's confused face.

Kofa was speechless for a moment, taking in what Hinata had implied. But before he could respond, Katsuyi spoke up, with a nervous laugh. "You don't have to do this, Kofa. I'm always alone and I don't need to be with anyone. You don't have to be cautious with me," she said, not daring to look at the two of them.

Hinata, with a smile that hid everything she was really thinking, stood up and headed to the kitchen to get more food, leaving Kofa and Katsuyi in a disconcerting calm.

Kofa wasn't any more stupid and didn't wait for Katsuyi to feel even worse and said — Katsuyi, the thing is that Hinata is a yandere. Don't take her words the wrong way, they can sometimes be sweet but evil. What she's trying to tell you is that things could be misinterpreted if I invite you on a date and your admirers might think you have a boyfriend. Besides, Hinata is my girlfriend, it's normal for her to feel that way when she sees her partner inviting other girls to eat, even if she was her friend — he said with a calm voice and a smiling look.

Katsuyi looked at Kofa carefully and nodded in understanding, without hesitation he smiled widely and shouted with excitement — I'm glad you have a girlfriend Kofa-kun! — he said with a relaxed and energetic voice.

Hinata who was hiding behind the wall saw all this and nodded in gratitude, she looked at Kofa and smiled happily as she saw her blonde friend happy again.

Na: We'll leave these filler scenes behind and get to the action, you know. Killing spies etc.

Plus, there's a certain old mummy who's already got her eye on our protagonist. Don't you find it strange that Kakashi left on a mission without warning?
