As a child, there were all sorts of activities one could enjoy during cold seasons. After work and the day's tasks were complete, he remembered - from the scanty ones before the camps - skating against a setting sun. The branches were charcoal jags against a sky that reddened from wan blue, pale orange, and pink. The sun was a ruddy red disc, and he raced its path to the horizon. Loops, circles, or a straight dash, he had enjoyed the speed and the mastery of his skills aboard two slender metal blades.

He couldn't wait to share it with her.

They had spent a day together, waking early to enjoy their preferred hot beverage; coffee and three sugars for her, tea with half a peppermint dropped into it. An affectation he picked up once when they were without sugar, and his tea was too bitter. The resourcefulness he expected to be appreciated for was instead greeted with a burst of giggles from Rogue and Lorna both.

He enjoyed making Rogue smile whenever he could, and today, he very proudly dunked half a peppermint into his drink. Despite what some may think, he did enjoy moments of frivolity.

But yes, they had a slow, almost lazy morning. After spending time admiring the sunrise, they set about expanding the small building they built together after leaving Citadel X. Retiring was their prerogative, and they set about it with a will. Having created a home happily somewhere in the north east of the continent of "Nova Aquilo" as it was called, they were left to themselves, as they had expected. Demanded really.

No, no need to worry about anyone bothering them. It was simplicity itself for him to use his abilities to create what he needed as the afternoon rusted into evening. Before it would be time to prepare for dinner, he wanted to experience this with her.

Laughing, she let him pull her outside into the chilly air. "Lemme get mah jacket on all the way!" she protested as he swept into the sky with her. He used his powers to fashion the metal he called to form on the bottom of both their feet as they glided along the chill winter air. They were blades, sharpened without stone, but by his will. "We doin' something special?" she asked, a little lilt to her voice as she said it and she looked down at the blades that fit snugly against the bootsoles.

"Yes, beloved. One of my favorite pastimes." he assured her as they landed on the side of the lake. "I have not had the chance to indulge. And now, the ice is thick enough, the first of the season. Our first winter season." he said as he pushed off against the ice expertly, and swirled into a slow controlled circle. He extended a hand.

Legacy bit her lip and looked down at the frozen lake, and her love, her husband. They gave each other their vows when they chose this place as their home; on the tallest hill in the region, letting the land be their witness. And now he wanted her to ice skate…

Well, it wasn't an impossibility. He could clearly do it, and so could she, right? She wasn't going to let anything hold her back, ever. She swore that to herself long before she even heard of the word 'mutant'. She pushed off onto the ice -

And almost fell flat on her face. Magnus caught her and smiled fondly. "I won't let you fall." he swore to her, and she felt a surge of love in her as his low rumble made her feel the words as much as hear them.

She held close to him as they stood back up. Her feet weren't…firm, but she wasn't concerned. Any excuse to be close to him, after all, she always reasoned to herself. As her legs threatened to fall under her, she tugged at him, catching his attention first, then his lips.

He would never deny her a kiss, and he didn't now. She loved to kiss him, any excuse, after all. She smiled and let a whisper of her control drop enough to scry his topmost thoughts, and pick up some of the natural feeling of balance on skates.

Legs that threatened to fall no longer did, and she broke the kiss, pushing away and expertly looping around him. "Never had a doubt." she said proudly as he smiled at her.

He was no worse for the wear from her absorption. Her control was refined at this point that it only took what she wanted. Proud was too weak a word for him to use; but he knew few others that could define what he felt. He resolved to find the words, the way he felt. It was akin to when he labored over his words in preparation for their personal ceremony to one another. The words he found then moved her to tears, and he found himself struggling to finish at the end.

He wanted to find words like that now.

But they skated with one another, enjoying the activity in the waning winter light. As dusk fell, the pair were looping lazily with one another, she snuggled tight against him as they moved as one.

"A perfect day."

"Inna string of them."

"Mmm…I am so grateful; the peace we have wrought…the price so high…"

"But," Rogue said as she looked at him. "It was all worth it in the end." she burrowed closer to him, enough to have him loop an arm around her midsection. "Ah was thinkin…" she said in a musing tone as their skating began to slow. It was nearly time to return to the house before it became too dark.

"Yes, beloved?"

"Ah think we should build another room when spring comes, sugah. Another bedroom." she said in significant tones. She stroked her fingers against his, where they set against her midsection.

He almost staggered, but managed to maintain his balance. "You are certain?"

She nodded significantly. "Yes…Ah was certain jus' today and couldn't wait to tell you-"

He captured her lips this time, as they lifted into the air in a slow spiral. He would carry them home in a moment, lit by the last rays of light. They would celebrate their upcoming arrival, the expanding of their family together tonight. But first, this. This one perfect moment, that he wanted to let last forever, with her in his arms, and their future on the horizon.
