SmackDown: 13/4/2000
SmackDown was live at the Ice Palace in Tampa, Florida. Rikishi Phatu challenged Eddie Guerrero for the European Championship in the first match of the evening. As has been the case the past few weeks, Chyna accompanied Guerrero to the ring. Several times during the match, it appeared as though Rikishi was going to walk out of the Ice Palace with the European Championship. However, a World Wrestling Federation title cannot change hands on a disqualification - Rikishi won the match via disqualification when Chyna interfered on behalf of Eddie Guerrero.
After the match, Triple H, Shane and Stephanie addressed the capacity crowd. Shane spoke first, commending Triple H for what he did to The Rock last Monday. Triple H and Shane then hugged in the middle of the ring. From there, Triple H spoke to a backstage Rock. He told The Rock that it doesn't matter how much blood, sweat and tears he loses, he will never be better that him. The Rock's music immediately hit the arena and The Great One appeared on the top of the ramp. The Rock informed Triple H that nothing could stop him from ending the champ's title reign at Backlash. From there, Triple H told The Rock to grab the Acolytes, he would get Bull Buchanan and Big Boss Man, and they would all compete in a six man tag team match later on in the evening.
Next up, the Hardys battled Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko of the Radicals. The speed and athleticism of both teams involved made this match an instant classic. Both teams also displayed great endurance, as this match never wanted to end. However, when it did end, it was the Hardys who walked out with their hands raised in victory after Jeff hit Dean with the senton bomb.
Federation Hardcore Champion Crash Holly defended his title against Perry Saturn. Saturn's hardcore background proved to be enough - the Radical pinned Crash for the title after kicking a baking pan in his face. However, immediately after the match, Tazz ran to the ring and Pearl Harbored Saturn. Tazz then pinned Saturn, thus capturing the Hardcore Championship. Not long thereafter, Crash hit Tazz with a steel baking pan, knocking him out long enough for the pin. Crash ran out with Hardcore Championship.
After the commercial break, Kurt Angle teamed up with Big Show - who was dressed in a kilt - to battle Edge and Christian for the Tag Team Championship. Prior to the match, the team of Angle and Big Show argued with each other regarding Show's appearance. Their disagreement followed them into the match, as well. Angle and Show battled outside of the ring and were eventually counted out.
Next up was the Bladewolf vs Albert.
Highlights played of the Bladewolf attacking T&A, along with the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz, two weeks ago on SmackDown. Then, T&A's interaction with Trish Stratus was shown, followed by the Bladewolf's attack on T&A following their match with the Hardys this past Monday on RAW. Once the highlights ended, T&A's theme played in the arena and the duo walked out towards the ring with purpose while the crowd rained down the boos.
Tony Chimel, the ring announcer for SmackDown, stood in the ring with a microphone in hand. "The following contest is scheduled for one-fall! Making his way to the ring, being accompanied by Test, he weighs in at 347 lbs... ALBERT!"
Albert and Test make it to the ring and climb inside, both of them going to a corner, getting up on the second turnbuckle and raising their arms which just increased the boos the crowd were raining down on them. Their theme soon dies down.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
'Ooh, wah-ah-ah-ah! Get up, come on, get down with the sickness!'
Down with the Sickness by Disturbed played to a big pop from the crowd as the Bladewolf walked out, accompanied by Trish Stratus. The two make their way down the ramp towards the ring.
"And his opponent, being accompanied by Trish Stratus, from Death Valley, weighing 310 lbs... THE BLADEWOLF!" Tony Chimel announced before leaving the ring.
Bladewolf took off his vest halfway down the ramp and tossed it into the crowd before he slides into the ring and meets Albert in a fist-fight!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
The match is now underway as the Bladewolf and Albert go toe-to-toe, throwing fists at each other. The Bladewolf starts to overpower ALbert, when the big man shrugs it off and lands a big uppercut that rocks the Demon Wolf who stumbles back into the corner and is instantly set upon by Albert who unleashes a deadly assault of lefts and rights, causing the Bladewolf to cover up in order to protect himself.
Albert soon slows his assault and grabs the Bladewolf before Irish whipping him across the ring into the opposite corner, with Bladewolf hitting it hard and coming right off it with a big-time clothesline that floors Albert. Bladewolf goes for the cover. ONE! TW-! Albert kicks out at two.
Getting to his feet, the Bladewolf pulls Albert to his and lands a big right hand, dazing Albert temporarily. Bladewolf backs Albert up into the corner with repeated right hands to the face, then delivers hard stomps to the knees which take Albert off his feet in order for him to sit down then Bladewolf stomps repeatedly on the midsection until the referee has to get involved but Bladewolf turns on him, scaring the referee back. Bladewolf turns and runs at Albert but is met with a elbow to the face, sending him back.
Bladewolf shakes off the blow and turns to run at Albert but is scooped up and slammed down with a side-slam, followed by Albert hooking the legs. ONE! TWO-! Bladewolf kicks out at two.
Albert gets onto a knee and starts hammering away at the Bladewolf's forehead. "Come on, big bad wolf! you ain't so bad, big wolf! Come on!" Albert taunted, throwing more punches at the forehead before standing up.
ALbert raises his arms to boos from the crowd while Test claps on for his partner. As for Bladewolf... HE SITS RIGHT UP! The crowd pop as ALbert turns and blinks, but the Bladewolf gets to his feet and instantly goes on the attack with a fury of lefts and rights, going upstairs then downstairs on Albert, with the big man covering up as best as he could but Bladewolf's punches are fast and quick.
Albert throws a right but Bladewolf ducks underneath it, grabs Albert from behind and... SENDS HIM FLYING ACROSS THE RING WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! That's a 347lb man he just threw across the ring!
Albert is dazed from the German Suplex and slowly moving around, with the Bladewolf stalking him and raising his right hand to signal a Chokeslam looming for Albert. However, Test walks around the ring and up to Trish Stratus, flirting with her much to her disgust.
"Come on, why don't you leave this deadbeat and be with a real man?" Test boasted, flexing his muscle before trying to touch Test's face but she SLAPS HIM ACROSS THE FACE!
Test did not like that as his expression morphed into anger and he goes to grab Trish but the Bladewolf slides out the ring and clobbers Test from behind. Bladewolf pulls Test to his feet and sends him into the steel steps hard, sending the steps onto their side.
The Bladewolf checked on Trish who said she was fine, and he slides back into the ring only to get taken down by a big boot from Albert! Albert goes for the cover! ONE! TWO! THR-! Bladewolf kicks out!
Albert brings Bladewolf back to his feet, delivering a kick to his midsection which pushes him back into the corner and Albert sets upon him once more, Irish whipping him across the ring into the opposite corner. He stumbles forward, but is lifted up and slammed down with another side-slam by Albert who hooks the leg. ONE! TWO-! Bladewolf kicks out at two once again.
Albert hits the mat with building frustration before he gets to his feet. He grabs Bladewolf and lifts him up before hitting a powerslam, then makes sure he is laid on his back before he climbs to the top turnbuckle... AND JUMPS OFF TO HIT A LEG DRO- NO! BLADEWOLF ROLLED OUT OF THE WAY!
Bladewolf shot straight to his feet and knocks Albert down with a clothesline. Albert got right back to his feet but the Bladewolf kicks him in the stomach and... NAILS THE DDT! Bladewolf gets to his feet and raises his right hand in preparation for a Chokeslam, eyeing Albert with an intense, fierce look.
Albert gets to his feet and turns... INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf goes to lift him but Albert elbows him in the side of the head repeatedly before driving his knee into his midsection, allowing Albert to lift him up into a sitting position on his shoulders and he... HITS A SIT-OUT POWERBOMB! He goes for the cover! ONE! TWO! THRE-! BLADEWOLF POWERS OUT!
Albert hits the mat angrily before getting to his feet, pulls Bladewolf to his and Irish whips him into the ropes. The Bladewolf rebounds, ducks a right hand from Albert who turns... INTO A GOOZLE! Bladewolf lifts Albert up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
The crowd are on their feet as Bladewolf flips his hair back, fired up now. He grabs Albert and scoops him up into a fireman's carry and... HITS THE WRATH OF THE WOLF! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THREE! THE BLADEWOLF WINS!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Down with the Sickness plays as Bladewolf gets to his feet. "Here is your winner-" Tony Chimel's announcement is interrupted... WHEN TEST ATTACKS BLADEWOLF FROM BEHIND!
Test assaults the Demon Wolf with repeatedly stomps to the back and side before he pulls him to his feet and goes for a powerbomb but the Bladewolf scoops Test up onto his shoulders and... HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF!
Bladewolf's theme plays again as he stands over Test and Albert before leaving the ring, putting his arm around Trish's shoulders, and the two make their way to the back.
And that's it for this chapter, people. Let me know what you think in the reviews.
