Ok, everyone. Let's get into it.
'I wish you were here Kal' Diana thought to herself as she sat at her son's bedside. She didn't stay for even a moment after she knocked him out before teleporting both of them to the Watch Tower and out of reach of everyone who wanted to know what happened. But she wasn't willing to do that yet, those within the league knew she and Kon were here, and she wasn't subtle in carrying him through the station towards Kal's old personal medical room, which while holding some impressive tech, was mostly used as a type of sunbathing chamber.
She was sitting on a chair near the head of the bed with her back up against the wall. On the other side of his bed was a large glass window that could magnify and focus the sunlight moving through it. It was now doing this as it focused the light onto Kon, speeding up his healing. Something that was working considering that his once bruised and cut face was now healed up and he was looking like he normally did.
At least on the outside, inside his body was something else entirely 'Why did this have to start happening when you left?' she thought, once again wishing Kal was still with them 'You would know what to do' she added.
"I should have just gone down when I first found out," she said to herself as she looked down at the data pad on her lap. It showed two detailed designs of Kon's DNA. The one on the left was taken during his last physical around five years ago, and the one on the right was taken the other day. They couldn't have been more different. The old one looked like a rough shot image of a combination of hers and Kals, but the other.
She raised a hand to her mouth to try to disguise her worry. She wasn't one to nervously fidget as she saw the new-looking DNA, how different it was, and, most concerning, the small sparks that looked like lightning or electricity zapping from one strand to the other. Her mind went to a very bad place before she came back. It couldn't be true; it just couldn't.
There was a large TV screen on the wall opposite the bed which up until this point was just playing some nonsense that she couldn't be bothered watching had now turned from something to a black-haired reporter who was standing in front of what looked like the USJ "Unmute" she said aloud.
"…Class 1.A of UA Hero Academy where able to survive the attack with no casualties and few injuries, however the complete absence of Kon-El points to a troubling picture. We are currently not allowed to show the early footage of the clean-up of the USJ but we can say for certainty that many deceased bodies were removed from the training centre. U.A principle Nezu has not been available for…." Diana tilted her head as the reporter stopped speaking and brought a hand up to her ear, her eyes widened at whatever it was she was hearing "Is that confirmed?" she asked ignoring the camera for a moment before turning back to it with wide eyes "I'm just being told that footage from the camera's inside the dome has been anonymously delivered and we will show it now"
Diana's eyes widened at her words and the screen changed from the reporter to a clear camera feed that focused on the middle of the dome, Kon was standing strong in front of the villains and waited for them to move "Oh no" she said as she watched what Kon did.
She watched the whole thing with great detail, her mind going over every movement, every punch, every kick, and most importantly in this case, every kill. Not to mention, no hesitation. Of course, the mother in her was completely horrified by what he was doing and how he was doing it. But the Amazon in her, the warrior princess she couldn't help but be impressed.
He moved well, every swing of the axe, the grabs and punches. It was all done with the skill and experience of a master, Kon had never been in a real fight in his life, but the way he moved, there was no denying the impressive technique "Mute" she said as the last body fell and the image switched back to the stone white-faced reporter who looked like she was in shock at what she saw.
Of course, Diana was aware of the political ramifications of what was just shown to everyone. She couldn't wait for all the meetings she would need to attend to calm people down and assure them this wouldn't happen again.
And it shouldn't, at least not until she does something she really doesn't want to and calls her mother. Kon needed to have some special training to prevent this and it was something that could only happen in Themyscira, what happened to Kon was no secret, at least not to her and it was quite common in the home of the Amazons.
Warriors' madness.
The great battle instinct that can turn the Amazons from honorable, skilled, and just soldiers into unstoppable killing berserkers. Diana didn't think this would happen to Kon since it had never happened to her before. They never had a reason to think it could. Se let out a sigh as she pinched the bridge of her nose, the headache from the argument Kon was going to give her already showing up, it was no secret that he hated her family and people. She couldn't blame him on that one either but convincing him that he needs to spend time there, it's gonna take a while.
With the entire school shut down for a couple of days due to the events of the USJ, the teachers were able to have a meeting together in the U.A conference room without worry of something getting in the way of it now "Do we have any word from Wonder Woman or the League about what's going on with Kon?" Vlad King asked with crossed arms as he looked at the others.
"We've been told that he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries" Nezu informed them as he looked down at a large stack of paper "Though we've been given no real details on what his injuries are or how long it will take" he added.
"I know we're all concerned about Kon and what happened to him," Midnight said getting the attention of everyone "But for now it does us no good to focus on just him, we need to find out how this happened so we have something to give the public that will stop the panic"
"I've done nothing but go over the data and our own systems," Power Loader said "It looks like during the security breach earlier with all the reporters, someone managed to get some code into the system. We would have noticed it if it wasn't for the lockdown and alert. I'm making some new firewalls to make sure this doesn't happen again" he said to the rest "should be done in the next day or so"
"Ok, now that's out of the way. Can we talk about the real issue we have" Snipe added, ignoring Midnight's offer to talk about something else and going back to Kon. He stood up from his chair and leaned forward, reaching to the middle of the table and the small device that waited on top of it. He pushed one of the buttons on it and four separate screens were projected from it and pointed to all sides of the table so all teachers could get a good look at what was showing on them.
Despite all of them seeing it before, most teachers couldn't help but grimace at the sight. Kon went after the villains who charged at him, killing every single one with brutal efficiency. They have each all seen this footage at least once before but that didn't take away from its effect, such gruesome barbarity "Are we allowing him back?" Cementoss asked the group.
Many heads turned to look at him when he asked the question, but none looked completely surprised by it "I do not believe we can make that choice in good conscience just yet" All Might added from his spot on the table, his buff form barely fitting on the table "It's no secret that there is more to this then Kon simply being a happy killer and just pretending to be a normal kid"
"I agree," Midnight said with a small nod "But I'm concerned that it's not up to us. The footage of this is already on the news all over the world and it hasn't even been an hour" she added pushing another button on the holograph projector to show the footage change to the same video but with different news headlines and reporters talking about it, though with an admittedly blurred video to avoid getting banned off the air "The Hero safety commission isn't going to take this lying down"
"No they won't" Aizawa said from his chair, his injuries on clear display as he was practically encased in casts and bandages "But I do want this to be known that he was only forced to fight because I wasn't able to keep him save" he admitted to everyone, all gaining looks of sympathy as he spoke "I'm his teacher, it's my job and I failed"
"This isn't on you" Present Mic added "None of us would have been able to stop this without warning" he pressed a button and this time the footage changed to the start of the attack "It's clear they wanted Kon dead, but how did they do it? There's not many who could create a creature like that and we need to find out how?"
"No, we don't," Nezu said before anyone else could "The investigation into this creature and so-called League of Villains has been made a matter for the Justice League, it's their case now so we need to stay out of it" there was a slight frown on many faces, clearly not happy about it but they didn't argue "Besides, we may be a little busy to do a good enough job of looking into it. We have an entire class of students in need of counseling as some of you may have noticed but young Kon wasn't the only one to take a life"
The images changed again, this time swapping between two different areas. The first is the rockslide zone where several villains were completely frozen in place and left alone, the video shows the authorities trying to collect them, but their bodies simply broke apart when they tried. The second video showed the inside of a ruined building where Kirishima and Bakugo were fighting. They watched as Bakugo threw explosions at the villains, blasting them back into walls strong enough to crack them, then skipping to the authorities putting them into body bags.
"Between them" Hound dog started "Todoroki and Bakugo have at least nine dead on their hands" Many teachers let out sighs and grimaces at the news "Thankfully it looks like it can be handled by us, the only footage to be leaked is what Kon did. We still have to report this to the safety commission but if the public doesn't know about it, we can convince them to let us deal with this internally. I have meetings set up with all the students, but I'll take some extra time with those two"
"At least we know with those two that it wasn't some malicious murder" Ectoplasm said "Not that I'm saying that is the case with young Kon" he quickly added when he noticed many about to speak up in his defence "But until we hear a word from the League, the public will assume the worst, they always do"
"Until that time we will do what we can," Nezu said as he looked down at another folder "I know the timing isn't great but the police are going to start questioning the students soon. I believe it would be best if we for now simply let his mother worry about Kon while the rest of us do our best to get Class 1.A ready for the interviews"
Naomasa Tsukauchi took a seat opposite the young Midoriya as the two sat in his living room. It might have been expected that they take these interviews within a police precinct, but it was unnecessary to do that, the students were not in any trouble and they didn't want them to think that they were. Their interviews were a simple formality at this point, they needed these statements down in the record for when the League gets around to looking into them to see if there are any clues present "Mr Midoriya" he said to the very nervous-looking student went straight as a board at hearing his name being called "My name is detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, I'm going to ask you a couple of questions about the incident yesterday, this will be on the record so we'll be recording everything that's said. Do you understand?" he asked him.
"Yes!" he shouted suddenly as his mother came over and placed a hot cup of tea in front of the detective who simply smiled back at her.
"You don't need to yell" he said back calmly, not surprised by his response at all. He's been at this job for a while and he's seen a lot of different reactions in interviews "I want to make this clear, you're not in any trouble, you know that but we need to understand what happened and since Kon-El is out of my jurisdiction the rest of the class will have to do. Now" he reached forward and pressed the play button on the tablet in the middle of the table "please state your name for the record" he asked.
"And what happened after All Might took you back to the entrance of the USJ?"
"Then we started to discuss our next steps going forward when Ida arrived with the teachers, the rest of us were escorted out while Kon was left behind"
"I see, do you mind if we circle back to the Villains you encountered? You said you froze them in place and that you planned to interrogate them to get more information. Can you describe how you planned to do it?"
"I was going to use mental manipulation and fear to get them to comply and answer my questions, they were going to be about why they were there and how they planned on killing Kon"
"So you understand the pain they must have been in due to being encased in that ice?
"I do, due to my research and study of my Quirk I can understand the reactions low temperature can have on the human body"
"But you were never going to cause real harm to them, at least never intending to"
"Yes, I was never going to hurt them in any permanent fashion"
"But you did, didn't you?"
"What do you mean?"
"You said when you heard Kon-El scream you immediately left the villains to see if you could find him and provide aid, correct?"
"Yes, I ran for him as fast as I could. All Might found me halfway and moved me back to the entrance"
"So you're not aware of what happened to the Villains you left frozen?"
"…..They….. I left them"
"Yes, they were left on their own with most of their bodies encased in ice for nearly two hours. They died due to hypothermia"
"….."
"Alright, that's enough. My son has answered all your questions, you may leave now"
"So you had nothing to do with the dead body that was at the scene, the one with a knife wound through his throat?"
"….Yes….. he was dead because another Villain killed him"
"Why would they do that?"
"Myself, Jiro, and Kaminari were surrounded, we had no way out. They got cocky and started talking. The… the dead one said that he wanted to… he said in no uncertain terms that he wanted to rape me"
"Sweety, you don't have to….."
"It's fine Mom. After the villain made that clear it seemed to have caused a type of….. rift in them. Some of them, while villains had lines that they didn't want to cross and even went so far as to fight others to stop. To be perfectly honest with you, I would like to point out to you which of them spoke out to stop and even went so far as to fight others to do it"
"I'll pass on a lineup of those in custody so you can point them out, while it won't do much in the way of getting them realized earlier or something of that nature, it would be good to know which ones are truly those who don't deserve mercy compared to the ones who seem to have some morals left. Please continue"
"Then a woman with a long blade came up behind the man and stabbed him in the neck, after that it was more or less a brawl between everyone. Us and the villains. Thankfully that bought us enough time for Kaminari to use his Quirk to knock out all the villains while I used my to shield us"
"This is a waste of time! I've already told your people everything I know! I should be back out of their training!"
"SHUT IT BRAT! YOU ANSWER ANY QUESTION HE GIVES YOU!"
"As I was saying, you and Eijiro Kirishima were teleported to the ruined city zone of the USJ where you were ambushed"
"ugh…. Yeah, we dealt with them easily enough. Bearly a challenge, must have just been to distract us so we couldn't help Kon"
"Would you have helped him if you had the chance?"
"Well duh, We're training here for nothing. I was ready to jump on that monster's face and blast it straight to hell!"
"YOU'LL DO NO SUCH THING KAKSI, YOU'RE NOT DOING ANY FIGHTING UNTIL YOUR TRAINING IS DONE!"
"I'd like to circle back to that, while the two of you were in the building you were fighting off villains. You are aware of what happened to them correct?"
"Yeah, fuckers probably just got rounded up and put in cuffs by you lot"
"That is the case for most of them, but it wasn't for others. Specifically three of them, the reason for that being was you"
"What are you talking about, did the cry babies run off before you could catch them"
"They're dead"
"…..What do you mean they're dead"
"Well from what we can see from his school records the smallest of your son's explosions can match that of a standard grenade while the strongest can reach that of a couple of pounds worth of C4. Keep in mind what happened during the USJ he would have had a mix of shock, and adrenaline along with a fight or flee mindset going through him. What he did there could have been much stronger, you put that in someone's face…"
"Kaksi! You get back here right now!"
"Bite me you hag"
"It's alright, I want to let you know that your son isn't being charged with anything. This is a clear case of self-defence but we have to get his statement for the record"
The hound dog let out a long sigh as he listened to the recordings that were made by the local police before they were to be handed off to the League who would be taking over the investigation of what happened. Hearing with his ears what nearly happened to these students made his blood boil and jaw clench, ready to bite down on those villains for what they did, planned to do, or made the students do in return. Being the school guidance counsellor made it his responsibility to look after the student's mental well-being and right now he had a lot on his plate because of it.
At least two potential rape victims in Momo and Jiro, two with blood on their hands in Bakugo and Todoroki, and of course Kon himself with who knows what's going on with that. It's been two days since the attack on the USJ and the only information they have regarding Kon is that he's alive and being treated for his injuries. Which was great but not an ideal amount of information in the grand scheme of things. He started to type away on his computer the emails for all the students to come back U.A for one-on-one meetings with him to help them get over the issues that this will bring.
It is a sad truth but those in the hero profession have no shortage of trauma and PTSD, the difference being that these kids were young, far too young to have some healthy outlets for trauma and they need to know what the good ones are compared to the bad. It's not unheard of for young heroes to have trouble with drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism, that's why he was here. To let them know that simply talking about it is a good way to help and of course, there are outlets out there that can be good. Exercise, studying, going far into hobbies, and even sex, so long as it was protected of course.
The students have a week off and that will be enough time for him to have a meeting with each of them for an hour so and get ahead of this before it can spiral out of control. While not a priority it would be good for the class to be back to their normal selves before the tournament at the end of the month. He put Kon's message at the back of the list in case he needed more time to heal up, despite the mess that was made he hoped that he would be returning soon.
"No chance in hell," Kon said as he lay there with his arms crossed looking at his mom who was standing near his bed with her own arms crossed, frowning down at him "I am never going back there"
"We don't really have a choice in the matter Kon" she argued back, being the unmoving disciplinarian she always was with him.
"Bullshit. There's always a choice" he said back as he made to get out of the bed, his wounds from the fight mostly healed by now. Though there was still a noticeable grimace on his face when he did so.
"language and there isn't" she corrected him as she started to pace slightly "Do you have any idea how scared people are right now" she waved towards the screen on the wall "To think that you could be capable of something like this, we may be able to put this out there as a one-off under stress, that you are young and scared. If it happens again then everything your father stood for ends and that symbol ends as well" She pointed to a nearby chair that held a black T-shirt on it with the family crest in red in the middle of it.
"This symbol is a crest for our family, despite what everyone down there wants to think otherwise" he added before letting out a sigh but still quite annoyed "I get what you're saying, I'm scared as well" he turned to face her as he stood up "I can barely remember what happened but I know what I did. I will not let myself lose control like that again but there is no way going back to that place will change that"
"Of course, it will" She moved to stand closer to him, walking around the bed and the two standing in front of the large window that gave them a good view of Earth "The Amazons know exactly what happened inside your head and they have training and techniques to control and use it"
"Well bully for them" he added sarcastically as he put his shirt back on "Two problems though, two really big ones," he said holding up two fingers, ignoring the fact that he and his mom have not had a fight like this in a long time "Number one, they hate me with a dying passion because of what I am. Number two, I hate them with a dying passion because of what they tried to do"
The retort brought Diana up short and she closed her eyes and let out a sigh as Kon walked past her "Kon, I know what they tried to do" She quickly reached out and grabbed his arm, stopping him from leaving. He turned back to look at her and she starred at him or more specifically the scar just above his left eye "You have every reason to distrust my people, hate them even" she admitted, hoping that giving some ground would push him to meet her halfway "But you also know what I did when I found out, what your grandmother did when she found out"
A dry chuckle left him as he heard that "I know, I also know how reluctant she was to do anything until you all but made her" he snatched his arm out of her grip and noted the look of hurt on her face when he turned around to leave, stopping himself and letting out a sigh as he turned around to look at her. He didn't like seeing the sadness on her face. Of course, he didn't he wasn't a monster "I know this is bad, I know what I did was bad and I know people are scared. But I cannot go back to that island. Mom, I need you to understand that" his voice turned from one of angry yelling to a calm, almost pleading tone.
Diana let out a sigh and placed a hand on her head "I do understand Kon, trust me, I do" she said as she moved to sit on the bed with her head down "But you need this training, Warriors madness is a dangerous thing, it's not uncommon for sisters who fall to see even their closest allies as enemies. You have to do it" she said looking up at him.
Kon hated seeing her like this and in any other situation he would be right there next to her but he was too emotionally drained to be of comfort to anyone. The fact she was still saying he needed to go wasn't helping, he shook his head again "I can't do that Mom. I am not going back to that island"
"You have to" She said it so matter of factly and with such a casual shrug of her shoulders made it so much worse "If you don't and you lose control like that again…."
"It won't happen!" he snapped back at her.
"You don't know that!" she yelled back as she stood up from the bed and looked like she was so done arguing about that "You can't possibly know that!" she let out a breath and started to pace around the room again, feeling the need to burn off some energy "Do you know what I've been doing the past two days! First of all, being worried sick about you! Number two, in and out of meetings and conference calls trying to calm people down...!"
"Ok" he said interrupting her trying to get her to stop.
"NUMBER THREE!" she yelled "Getting constant updates from the labs about what's going on with you which is why I wanted you here in the first place!"
"OK, THAT'S ENOUGH!" He shouted back tired of hearing this list and started pacing himself.
"NUMBER FOUR!" She yelled even louder in a way that only a mother could that grated on his nerves "trying to think of something I could use to convince my mother to let you stay on the island in the first place!"
"LET YOU!?" Kon shouted back at her "See! The fact she wouldn't jump at the chance to let me back just goes to show how little they want me there anyway! If you have to beg and bargain damn well tells me I wouldn't be wanted and therefore would never be treated well, I was a FUCKING TODDLER LAST TIME, AND LOOK WHAT THEY DID! IT WILL BE TEN TIMES WORSE NOW THAT I'M OLDER!" he shouted at her louder than he ever did before and the fact she didn't snap back proved it.
The two stopped their argument and took deep breaths. Clearly both tired and just now realizing how intense their fighting had gotten, as one they both leaned against a wall and tried to calm down "I wish Kal was here" Diana said, more to herself than Kon.
"Me too" Kon added "But you know he would never have wanted me to go back there either" he tried to reason.
"If he was still here it wouldn't be needed" she said back more calmly than before "he would just fly off to the fortress for a couple of hours and have some new technology or plan all worked out and ready" she let out a heavy sigh "but he's not here, he's gone and I need to work with what I have and Themyscira is all I've got" she crossed her arms and looked down to the ground is a disappointment.
"I can't do that" he shook his head "I don't trust them, and I certainly don't trust myself to hold back if any try something stupid. I would never be able to relax or lower my guard, I don't think I could even trust any food or water they give me" he kicked himself off the wall and started to head towards the door "I'll head back to U.A, try and explain the situation so they don't panic too much. Who knows maybe they'll even let me stay on there" he explained as he turned to leave "Love you Mom" he added.
"Love you too sweaty," she said after him as the door closed.
When it did Kon let out a heavy sigh before he started to walk forward down the corridors of the Watch Tower. He'd only been here a couple of times before but this was the first time he felt too overwhelmed to appreciate it. His mind was a little whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, far more so than normal 'Warriors Madness' he thought to himself 'What kind of RPG bullshit was that' he added.
He could understand it in principle, a type of mindset that would give fighters a boost in battlefield prowess, what he didn't understand was how he got it. It would be too simple to say that it came from his mom, but how did that make sense, she said it's never happened to her and she wasn't technically an Amazon, at least when it came to blood and genealogy, he was made from clay and brought to life through magic. He is well aware of how bullshit magic can be but this is just silly.
He couldn't remember everything that happened but he knew that the last thing he remembered clearly was that creature….. Nomu bit down onto his shoulder deep enough to draw blood, something not easily done. He might not have been as tough as either of his parents but he was nothing to scoff at either, he wanted to know so much more about everything but it seemed that he lost the chance to do that when he vaporized the creature completely, another thing he would need to look into. Somehow when he was in that mindset he was able to control his heat vision, something he sure as shit couldn't do before.
He would need to go over all of this in some detail later when he had a moment, take notes down, and some shit like that. For now, he just needed to get back down there. Walking down the halls of the Watch Tower was always interesting but now he just didn't feel it, maybe he was just feeling a little self-conscious considering everything. It certainly didn't help that everyone gave him a wide birth when he moved past them, from the technicians and engineers who weren't heroes but proved to be the best of the best to get a job up here from the heroes of the League who walked by him in full costume. They tried to make it look like they didn't but he could tell by how all conversation seemed to stop when he neared them.
Thankfully he didn't need to worry about it for long before he reached the teleporter bay and made his way to head back to Japan, he would call the School when he made it back to his apartment and get a meeting with Nezu set up.
No update on Sunday so I thought I would release it a little earlier then normal so I hope you all enjoy. Let me know what you all think in the reviews down bellow.
