Disclaimers: I do not own My Hero Academia, Dungeons and Dragons, or Pathfinder.
A/N: So this is the final chapter for the first half of the update and will introduce the other clan leaders of the Metallic and Chromatic dragon clans. I apologize for the lack of actions since these chapters were more plot-driven than action driven. I'm saving that for the second half of the update.
Chapter 22
The Blood Isles
"Dragons never gather without purpose."
—Kacdaninymila, gold dragon (Draconomicon 3.5)
It was Sunday morning and Toshinori Yagi found himself at school sitting at his office desk in his skeletal form while reading over the school file of Mirio Togata, a second year student who his old sidekick, Mirai Sasaki aka Sir Nighteye, recommended to him to pass down One For All to once the time was right.
"He's strong, fast, has a unique quirk, and is always smiling", the Symbol of Peace says to himself, "He's basically everything that is needed to be a worthy successor….but does he want that?
Being the Symbol of Peace was no walk in the park for Toshinori despite what some people, especially the media, may believe. Due to constant having to save the day, it was hard to make real friends and even harder to keep them. Team-ups were a rarity since the media could potentially spin it in a negative way for anyone that was not him and most other heroes were quite frankly intimidated by his presence and he knew this. A decade ago, doing a team-up with him would have boost a hero's place in the billboard up a rank or two but nowadays people see it as "riding his coattails" so Toshinori went out of his way to avoid them if he could help it, even more so now because of his condition.
Heck, the team-ups he had with Ryukyu and Hawks only went so smoothly because both of them were already top-rank heroes so it was not like he was stealing any thunder from them and it could not be interpreted as them mooching off of him. Most people probably do not realize it but the two younger heroes did most of the work in stopping that bank robbery as they took on the majority of the criminal group while he just took out their leader, but as per usual the media mostly focus on what he did.
Heck, sometimes he did not even want to think about how his love life and personal time for himself had basically fallen to the wayside as result of all of this as well and while the number one hero realize that some of this was his fault because he dedicated so much time to saving the day but if he did not do it, then who would?
On top of all that, he has not even met Mirio personally yet. He was not avoiding the young man or anything, he just wanted to observe him for himself from afar until he fully made up his mind.
"Mirai says that young Togata has what it takes to be the number one hero, but does the boy even knows what that implies? What he would be giving up if he attain it?", Toshinori thought as he closes the folder and leans back in his chair with a sigh, "I got to observe a hero class with Snipe for class 2A early tomorrow morning. If I recall, it has two promising students in it as well. Perhaps if they impress me I might add their names to my ever-growing list."
Another thought then crosses his mind, one regarding Devil's Palm. For now, All Might opted to let local law enforcement sniff around to see if they could find anything while keeping all Pro Heroes on standby in case a major raid is needed. Endeavor, always the one giving the most push-back, stated that he would feel around the rest of the Shizuoka Prefecture to find any leads. Meanwhile Mirko and Ryukyu would continue their patrols, something that they were already doing since the Rabbit Hero inform him of her standing orders from the HPSC to bring down the crime rate in the area.
"A villain group operating in U.A. backyard can't be a coincidence. There's only one person bold enough to try something like this but he died a long time ago. So just who is this person at the top of this group?", All Might thought, uneasiness setting in over the fact that his niece could now possibly get caught in the crossfire if the situation got out of control in Musutafu.
Over at the Midoriya's residence Inko left early for work despite it being Sunday but she did state last night that she had a couple of assignments to finish before Monday. This allow Izuku to be able to get Blight out of the house without having to explain him and the pair left the apartment with the creature sitting on Izuku's shoulder while doing so, almost like a parrot.
"This quirk of mine just keeps piling on more and more", Izuku thought as he watch Blight constantly scan the area. Sure, quirks that create sentient beings were rare but not unheard and Izuku has seen a few of them back at Aldera; but usually that was it for the quirk and nothing else.
"Just what type of quirk is this? Mutation? Emitter? Transformation? Maybe even an Accumulation in some way?", Izuku wonders.
"Master Izuku, what's that?", Blight said while looking at a park car, "Some type of metal monster sleeping?
"Master Izuku, what's that?", The shadow drake then asks while looking at a streetlight, "A type of metal tree?"
"Master Izuku, what's that?", Blight questions while looking out at the beach, "There's so much water! Can I drink it?"
"Blight, first off, no don't drink that water. Second, when we get to the beach I need you not to attack anyone okay?", Izuku says.
"Yes, Master Izuku! Blight the Shadow Guardian, shall only attack to protect you!", came the reply.
"I rather you not attack at all", Izuku says.
"But Master Izuku, Blight the Shadow Guardian must protect you!", Blight says.
"How about this? You don't attack anyone unless I say too, okay? Also don't mention to anyone where you came from. Let me explain that.", Izuku says.
"If you say so, Master Izuku. I, Blight the Shadow Guardian, shall obey."
"Going to be a long day, I just know it", Izuku tells himself.
"Having a familiar actually comes with a number of benefits, mind you", Dogal states as he appears next to Izuku, walking alongside him.
"Oh really? Like what?"
"For starters, you have your very own companion who will love you unconditionally and be forever loyal to you", Nefer chimes in as she appears behind.
"I guess that's something", Izuku thought.
"Though I would have prefer you getting something other than a shadow drake as your first familiar", Nefer then adds.
"First?", Izuku says.
"Blight can also feel your emotions if he is in range of you", Dogal then cuts in.
"Feel my emotions?", Izuku repeats.
"Familiars share a empathic bond with their master, and thus know when they are feeling happy, sad, angry, etc.", Dogal explains.
"Really? Well I guess that's pretty cool", Izuku replies.
"Do not fret, Midoriya. In time, you would come to wonder how you ever lived without a familiar by your side", Dogal says.
Ten minutes later, Izuku found six pairs of eyes drawn to the shadow drake on his shoulder which in turn was watching back with a glare while hissing at them.
"Do not harm Master Izuku or face the wrath of Blight the Shadow Guardian!", he threatens.
….
"Midoriya?"
"Yes, Yaoyorozu?"
"What is that on your shoulder?"
"This is Blight-",
"Blight the Shadow Guardian!"
"He is a companion of mine, I guess", Izuku says, hoping it was a good substitute for the word familiar.
"I am Master Izuku's protector!"
"Please be quiet for now, Blight."
"Yes, Master Izuku!"
Melissa steps forward to look closer at the creature, causing Blight to hiss at her.
"Izuku, where did he come from?", the westerner asks.
"I went to sleep, had a dream about him, and when I woke up, there he was", Izuku lies.
….
"Izuku, do you realize the implications that your quirk making sentient life out of thin air creates?", Melissa asks.
"I rather not", Izuku answers.
Another low growl from the shadow drake draws everyone's attention to the creature.
"Blight the Shadow Guardian doesn't like you being so close to Master Izuku!", he says.
"Blight", Izuku says with an edge in his voice.
"I might have just the thing to fix this", Melissa says before reaching into the bag at her feet and pulling out a sandwich she made and breaking off a piece of it to present to Blight.
The shadow drake sniffs at the piece of food cautiously before whipping his long tail around to wrap it up and pulls it out of her hand. He then brings it to his mouth where he take a small nimble of it. Then that nimble turn into a full-on bite as he happily devour the morsel.
"This is delicious! Yes! Yes!", Blight says before leaping off of Izuku's shoulder and into Melissa's arms, "Blight the Shadow Guardian likes you Food-Giver! You may approach Master Izuku!"
"Why thank you very much", Melissa laughs as she hugs Blight, causing him to make a cooing sound in response.
Meanwhile with Izuku….
"Did that girl just make a chaotic evil drake coo with just a piece of food and a hug?", Buraee asks.
"Yes. Yes she did", Hunluan says.
"I dare say that this girl might even surpass me in benevolence if she is able to do that", Nefer admits.
"This...this is my life now", Izuku tells himself.
The day went by without any interruption though Blight's presence took awhile for everyone to adjust to as the shadow drake kept flying into the midst of the training session trying to find out what everyone was doing. Later on around high noon though, Izuku learned the hard way that Blight's kind was sensitive to light and thus he was weaken in the presence of a large amount of it, sluggish even. This push Melissa to make somewhat of a miniature "doghouse" for him which he could rest in and avoid the sun until it went down a bit.
Also after observing everybody, Blight gave them all nicknames which were as follow.
Izuku remained Master Izuku despite his objections while Melissa upgraded from Food-Giver to Lair-Builder.
Momo was now known to Blight as Creative-Princess once Izuku explain her background.
Itsuka, due to Blight learning that she was a martial artist and saw her quirk in action, earn the simple name of Battle Giant Fist Monk.
Mei was simply called Metal Babies while Himiko earn the moniker of Vampire-Teeth which cause Itsuka to burst out laughing.
Strangely enough, Vlad King was simply changed to King Vlad for the shadow drake.
Regardless, the day came and went with Izuku starting his return home with Blight as the sun set. But what he was unaware of was Himiko watching him walk away as she got in the car to leave, her mind racing as she remembers back to the words he said to her.
"Your eyes reminded me of pools of gold when I first looked into them so those words pop into my head for some reason and I meant for it to convey that your eyes are beautiful and they are a treasure to behold."
"Maybe it's time to step my game up a little", Himiko thought as Vlad King started the car and drove away.
"I'm home", Izuku says as he walk through the door with Blight on his shoulder.
"Oh, hey Izuku", Inko says from the kitchen, "How did everything go at the beach?"
"It went great. Everyone had a good time and we got a lot of training in", Izuku answers.
"Well, that's nice", Inko says.
….
….
…..
"Izuku?", Inko then says with a smile plaster on her face.
"Yeah?"
"What is that thing on your shoulder that keeps looking at me?"
Izuku looks to see Blight tilting its head back and forth as it stare at Inko.
"Master Izuku, that female smells like you. Is she kin?", the shadow drake asks, reminding Izuku that his mom left early this morning and thus was not introduced to him.
"Well you see", Izuku starts, knowing this was going to be a long explanation.
"Ayano, please put away the bottle of sake", Ryuko asks her friend while sitting in the conference room with her staff as they just got done watching the latest surveillance footage on Izuku.
"Why can't I drink?! It seems to be the only way I can handle the fact that Midoriya now has a fucking shadow drake as a fucking familiar that he pulled out of thin fucking air!", came the response from the researcher as pulls off the cork and down the bottle
"That is no excuse for you to drink yourself into a stupor", Ryuko tells her.
"Since Ayano is...indispose right now, I will be the one to just come out and say it", Yui declares while pointing at the Pro Hero, "You definitely need to get an evaluation on Midoriya. Whatever is going on with him could be seriously affecting his health and we need to confirm where that shadow drake came from."
"I realize that", Ryuko says
"Glad to see that you do because this is getting out of hand and we need some measure of closer surveillance on him especially since it seems that in his "control state" of a transformation he is significantly weaker", Yui says.
"Look, I'll figure something out, okay? I just got to wait for the right opening", Ryuko states.
The middle of the month soon came around and Izuku found himself steadily starting to improve. Sure he was not winning any spars against Himiko or Itsuka, but he was started to get pretty even with Momo and actually scored his first victory against her on Friday so that was something. Vlad King even allow him to start practicing his "draconic boosts" which he got from the alignment dragons since the Pro Hero did not want him to neglect them since it meant that he could possibly converse his transformation for serious fights while using the draconic boosts for everything else. The Blood Hero also stated that so safety reasons, Izuku would only be practicing against the robots that Mei and Melissa had build in his dragons forms. That make sense since even if he was careful, one wrong move with his claws or teeth and someone could lose a limb or worse.
Meanwhile, Inko was….convince to let Blight stay though Izuku kept hearing her mutter every now and then about how her son's quirk was getting out of control, a sentiment he agree with wholeheartedly. But she eventually came to accept Blight as another member of the household, albeit a strange one, especially since he took to addressing her as "Mother Master Inko" as to acknowledge her position as the mother of his master and worthy of his respect. Whenever he was home, Izuku would spot the drake perch on his mom's shoulder as she cooked and in her lap whenever she was watching TV or reading a book in the living room. One time, Izuku even allowed him to go with her when she went out for some late night shopping.
On to another matter, while Izuku certainly did not like lying to his mom about how Blight came to be, he was certain that she was not quite ready to learn about the Dragonscape and the alignment dragons just yet.
No one really was in his mind. Speaking of his mind, he was still having the dreams of him being beaten up by Kasumi and being on top of the mountain nearly every night. The only thing he was not experiencing again was speaking to those voices in the darkness. Part of him felt that he should tell Ryukyu about this but another part told him that it would be a bad idea to bring the heroine into this matter.
Speaking of the Pro Hero….
Ryuko eyes Melissa with a raised eyebrow, her stare causing the girl to freeze up as they both sat on the couch in the main lobby of the agency watching the news on the TV.
"I'm sorry, Melissa, could you repeat that?", the heroine says.
"W-W-Well which part, Ryukyu?", the tech prodigy stammers out.
"The part where you said Midoriya was testing out his acid breath which I am pretty sure that he can only use while in a dragon transformation", Ryuko says, "The same transformation which he said he would not used during his training intermission."
"You must have heard me wrong, Ryukyu", Melissa says.
"Melissa, I can clearly hear a conversation from over forty meters away if I focus on the people having it. You are sitting right next to me", Ryuko says, "You want to try and come up with a better excuse?"
Melissa silence was her answer.
"How long?", Ryuko then asks.
"What?", Melissa asks.
"How long has Midoriya been using his dragon transformation at the beach?", Ryuko says, "It couldn't have been long seeing how you have only started going to the beach around mid-April from what you've been telling me."
….
"Melissa, you are a guest who I am housing in order to repay my debt to All Might for his support, but it still does not allow you to keep secrets from me especially when they are secrets that I need to know", Ryuko says after the girl remain silence for a few moments.
In truth though, Ryuko was not even the slight bit mad at Melissa for keeping Izuku's transformations a secret from her since it would make her a hypocrite seeing how she was keeping secrets herself, like how she has been spying on them while they were at the beach. If anything the foreigner just gave her the perfect opening to get information from Izuku directly about his progress without making her look suspicious. All she was doing right now was putting up a front.
"Actually he transform into a "black dragon" near the end of April but he didn't start using anymore until about a few weeks ago, but the Pro Hero Vlad King gave him permission to as long as he was around", Melissa finally confesses, "He also has a tiny dragon-like creature now named Blight."
"Blight huh? That's something I'll have to see for myself. But you said Vlad King gave him permission, right? He and I were sidekicks together underneath Yoroi Musha around the same time so I wonder if he still has the same cell number", Ryuko says as she get up but stops for a second, "I hope you don't keep secrets from me again in the future, Melissa. All Might gave me his word that you would be a gracious guest and it would behoove you to live up to that."
"Yes, Ryukyu", Melissa says.
"I want you to know that I will tell All Might all about this", Ryuko then says.
"Yes, Ryukyu", Melissa says again as the heroine left the room.
Izuku was sitting in the living room with Blight curled up on his lap when the critter suddenly awoke and jump up onto the top of the couch, growling at the door.
"Blight?", Izuku asks.
"One that has the scent of a dragon approaches! One I am not familiar with!", came the reply from the shadow drake right before there was knock at the door.
"Who could that be?", Izuku says before sniffing the air and his face's lights up, "Oh, it's Ryukyu. I wonder why she is here at this time?"
He then gets up to open the door, all the while Blight kept growling.
"Izuku", Ryukyu says upon the door opening, "Have you been using your draconic transformations during this intermission?"
"W-W-What? Where did you get something like that from? Of course, I haven't!", Izuku replies, scared out his wits due to Ryukyu's yellow eyes burrowing into his soul.
"Midoriya, I have known for quite some time that you have been training at the beach near here I just simply didn't say anything. You do realize that Melissa basically tells me almost everything she does when she gets back to the agency, right? As her temporary guardian while she is here in Japan, she is my responsibility.", Ryukyu says, "She has been covering for you for awhile now it seems, but she slipped up tonight."
"Oh boy", Izuku says aloud.
"I have also learn that you now have some type of creature named...Blight, I believe?", Ryuko asks.
"Blight the Shadow Guardian!", the shadow drake declare from his spot on the couch, baring his fangs at heroine while spreading his tiny wings.
"Yes….that thing", Ryuko remarks while pointing a finger at the drake, "Izuku, do you remember the reason why I dropped my recommendation with Yaoyorozu?"
"Because she basically didn't listen to you?", Izuku says in a downtrodden voice.
"Exactly", Ryuko answers, "And what did you go off and do?"
"Basically the same thing", Izuku says.
"Basically the same thing", Ryuko repeats.
"Does this mean-", Izuku starts.
"No it does not. For Melissa also mention that Vlad King has been supervising you as well as giving you permission to use your transformation aspects of your quirk", Ryuko continues, "I have already called and confirmed this with him and he has given me an update on your progress so far and I much say I'm am impress."
"You are?", Izuku says before motioning to allow the heroine to enter his house.
"Yes I am. Going off of what Vlad King told me you have come leaps and bounds in little over a month of training with him, including you now having a third dragon form, the black dragon", Ryuko answers as she walks in and the door closes behind her.
"He did?", Izuku says.
"Master Izuku is powerful! Of course, he was able to do such a thing!", Blight says while glaring at Ryuko while in return the heroine regards him with a raise eyebrow for a moment before looking back at the Izuku.
"Melissa also told me earlier this week that you would be attending U.A. Sports Festival next Saturday. Is that correct?", she says.
"I am", Izuku says.
"Good, because I will be showing up at the beach tomorrow to see what you have learn firsthand", Ryuko says.
"You are?", Izuku asks.
"Yes. I realize that most of this is probably my fault due to not making time to give you some training and I'm going to fix that starting tomorrow", Ryuko says before pointing another finger at Blight, "Also, I would like to know how this came to be."
"Well, you see, I had a dream about him one night and the next morning he was there", Izuku lies again.
….
"I see", Ryuko says before walking to the door, "I bid you goodnight then. We will talk more at the festival."
"Izuku, who was at the door?", Inko says as she comes out of her room and looks around, "Oh, Ryukyu! I didn't know you were coming by."
"Just dropping by to check up on your son before going on patrol, Mrs. Midoriya. I apologies for not calling ahead", Ryuko says as she bows.
"Oh, it's no problem at all. Would you like something to eat before leaving?", Inko asks before spotting Blight still growling at Ryuko, "Blight! Bad Blight! Stop!"
The shadow drake reluctantly ceases his actions but he kept his eyes trained on Ryuko.
"No thank you, Mrs. Midoriya. I must be off", Ryuko says as she nods at Izuku as she walks out the door, grows wings out of her back and takes off into the air.
"I guess she was going to find out sooner or later.", Izuku says to himself while watching Ryuko fly away into the night sky, "Though I could have swore I heard her heart beating fast. Wonder why?"
"By the ancestors! The prophecies were true!", Ryuko thought as she flew toward downtown, hand over heart in an effort to steady it, "From within his very body, members of the First Race shall spring forth! The committee needs to hear about this ASAP!"
Later on that night, Izuku found himself lying in bed with Blight resting on his chest while reading a Pro Hero magazine when his phone suddenly rang.
Looking at it, he was surprise to see that it was Melissa of all people calling.
"I'm so used to get just text messages from the girls including Himiko", Izuku says before answering the call, "Hello?"
"I am sooooooooo sorry, Izuku!" Melissa cries on the other end.
"Whoa! What's going on?!", Izuku says, jolting up out of his bed and flinging Blight off of him in the process. Luckily the drake was able to react fast enough and catch himself in mid-air before hitting the floor.
"Ryukyu just came back and told me what happen! I swear I didn't mean to tell her that you were using your quirk in that way without her permission! It just slip out!", the American explains.
"Hey, hey! It's not your fault; I should have told her sooner that I was doing that. If anything I should apologize for asking you to keep it a secret", Izuku says, hoping to calm the girl down.
"But I still feel so bad!", Melissa says, "You trusted me and I broke that trust!"
"This is hitting her really hard", Izuku thought before speaking, "Melissa, it's okay, really."
Melissa takes a sniff on the end of the line, "Are you sure?"
"While Ryukyu wasn't happy, I definitely deserve it for not saying something sooner, so I'm sorry for putting you through that", Izuku says.
"You're apologizing too much again. Stop it", Hunluan says as she appear next to Izuku.
"Don't you have stuff to do?", Izuku asks.
"Don't you have some pants to get in, specifically Hatsume?", Hunluan counters.
"Well, as long as you're not mad", Melissa says, bringing Izuku back to their conversation.
"I'm fine, I'll see you tomorrow", Izuku says.
"Okay, good night", Melissa says before hanging up.
"I coming bearing the most urgent of news", Dogal says as he appears over him.
"You know it wouldn't kill you stop by just to say hello and see how I'm doing", the boy remarks.
"I am fully aware of the status of your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual state at all times but in the near future I will try to occasional "stop by" and see how you are doing", Dogal counters.
"Why do I bother?", Izuku asks himself, "So what's going on? Did you find the brass dragon?"
"We have. In fact he made contact with us", Dogal says.
"Really? Well that's unexpected", Izuku says.
"If that surprise you then you're going to freak when you hear what else happen", Hunluan says as she shows up.
"What?"
"The brass dragon relay to us that all the remaining major chromatic and metallic clan leaders want to have a meeting with you!", Hunluan says.
….
…..
"I'm sorry, what?", Izuku says.
"The brass, bronze, green, blue, silver, red, and gold clan leaders have all sent messengers stating that they would like to have a meeting with you.", Dogal explains, "They would like to meet on the top of the Hall of Essence."
….
"If this you guys idea of a joke, it's not a very good one", Izuku states.
"I assure you, Midoriya, I am being completely serious", Dogal says.
"Yeah, all the remaining big dogs in these parts want to meet with you. No cap. For real, for real. For shizzle my nizzle", Hunluan adds.
….
"Okay, well why? Are they mad about the whole essence thing? About being locked up?", Izuku asks after giving the chaotic dragon a blank stare for a moment.
"Locked up? Okay, kid, you seem to think that once we channel a dragon we keep them in a cage or something but that is not the case", Hunluan starts, "Once we channel them we let them go and we can call upon them anything we want since we establish that link."
"What about when they appear in Hall of Essence?", Izuku asks.
"Basically the same thing. Just like you astral project into the Dragonscape, they are astral project to the hall when you summon them. We theorize that that might actually be the main function of the hall, a place to gather", Dogal states, "Now that that is out of the way I highly suggest we get back to the matter at hand."
"Okay, the other dragons want to meet me, but no one has yet answer as to why", Izuku says.
"Going off the situation that is currently developing in the Dragonscape, I would have to assume that it is to prepare for possible war", Dogal says
"War? What war? What is going on?", Izuku asks.
"No time, we have to go now since they'll be here soon", Hunluan says.
"Hunluan is correct. And do not worry. Licitum, Buraee, and Nefer have already been dispatch to go get Bluutsvilvarrt, Cheynchaytion, and Ugilanistorda", Dogal says.
"Why are they coming?", Izuku asks.
"This is a gathering of all the clan leaders of the major chromatic and metallic dragon clans; their presence shall be require", Dogal says as the white light began to emit off of him.
Windy.
That was the first sensation Izuku felt when the light faded away.
The wind blowing hard and him having to struggle to keep himself from being flung away.
"Where are we?!", he says.
"We are at the top of the Hall of Essence", Dogal answers, "Approximately two hundred kilometers up and do not worry for I have install a Circle of Language: Draconic across the entire length of it so you do not have to worry about not understanding the other dragons."
"TWO HUNDRED KILOMETERS?! Izuku screams, "WE SHOULD BE IN SPACE RIGHT NOW THEN!"
"That would be true if we were in your world, kid", Hunluan says, "But this the Dragonscape and things work differently here. Just look up if you don't believe me."
Izuku does just that and see nothing BUT blue skies and clouds above him along with the sun. No dark void or stars in sight.
"What even is this place?", Izuku says aloud.
"That's what we're trying to find out", Hunluan says.
"The others have return", Dogal says as he looks past Hunluan and Izuku, prompting them to turn around to see the lawful, evil, and good, alignment dragons flying toward them. The three land a few moments later though Izuku notice a nasty scowl on Licitum's face.
"That shall be the last time I will ever go to the lands of Cheynchaytion. They are horrid, frigid, and she was a most disrespectful host", he then says.
"But is she coming?", Dogal asks.
"She is", Licitum answers.
"As is Ugilanistorda", Nefer says.
"And Bluutsvilvarrt", Buraee adds.
"Good,", Dogal says.
"When will they be here?", Izuku asks.
"Shortly, they do have to fly across multiple islands to get to us", Nefer says as she produces a map out of thin air.
It contain well over a hundred massive islands roughly the area of Australia if not larger while each of those were surrounded by smaller islands that themselves were around the size of Japan itself.
But before he could go into depth with these details, the map vanishes from sight.
"Hey, what was that-", he starts to say.
"They have arrived", Nefer says while looking behind Izuku up at the sky.
The boy turns around to do the same…
And found himself in total awe of the sight and for a moment he thought he was back in his dream of the valley of dragons again as the ten dragons of the major chromatic and metallic dragons descend upon the top of the hall, the power radiating from them reverberating through his entire body as they landed about ninety meters away from Izuku and the alignment dragons and even from that distance, the boy could also feel the tension between them as well as their might. The largest amount of it seem to be emitting from the gold dragon, its scales shiny brightly like the sun, and the red dragon, whose very presence seem to raise the temperature in the area.
"Wow", Izuku says at the sight.
"It is safe to assume that there has not been a gathering like this in many a lifetime", Dogal says.
"And I owe them all money", Hunluan says with a smile.
"Huh?", Izuku and all the other alignment dragons say as they look at her.
"Sorry. Pirates of the Caribbean, At World's End, reference; I couldn't resist. Jack Sparrow is a fucking boss", Hunluan clarifies.
Izuku shakes his head at this but he then notices that the copper, black, and white were all way bigger than when he saw them for the first time in the Hall of Essence and were larger than all the other dragons except for the red and gold dragons who were only just a bit bigger than them.
"So I wasn't imagining it with the white dragon. But how?", Izuku says aloud.
"You bestowing names and titles upon them also seem to increase their power beyond what their normal limits would have been, which were already immense. In other words, you seem to have brought the three of them to their maximum potential", Dogal answers, seemingly having overheard Izuku.
"Just by naming them?"
"You are a bearer of the Supreme Essence and your draconic aura created the Dragonscape. The clan leaders do not know about the later and it would be prudent if you did not tell them", Dogal says.
"Why is that?", Izuku says.
"How would you feel if you found out that your entire world was created by a teenage boy who was smaller than a single one of your claws?", Hunluan asks, "It would be the equivalent of finding out that your entire universe was just the size of a marble that is being use to play games with."
"I guess that makes sense. But what is the Supreme Essence you guys are talking abo-?", Izuku moves to ask before a growl from the black dragon draws his attention.
"Cheynchaytion", Bluutsvilvarrt says, acid dripping out her mouth onto the ground as she did, "I am shock to see you in such good shape seeing how there is barely any food in that meager land you call your kingdom."
"Hilarious Bluutsvilvarrt seeing how you yourself seem to be bloated from sleeping all the time and having your minions run your kingdom for you", Cheynchaytion replies as each word produce a mini ice-storm from her mouth as ice billows out.
"Quite ironic seeing how white dragons are known to sleep the most out of all True Dragons", Hunluan whispers in Izuku's ear.
"Are they going to fight?", Izuku worries.
"No, for we have discover that the island that the Hall of Essence is currently on is consider neutral and sacred ground to the dragons and violence is forbidden on it. If anything they'll just growl and make threats at best. Oddly enough this is one of the few things they have all agreed upon", Nefer says.
"Should we stop them and get on with this meeting?", Izuku says.
"Not yet. They have to….one-up each other before we can begin", Dogal states.
"Seriously?", Izuku says.
"It's typical dragon politics. This may be neutral ground but each clan leader has to put on a strong front to its rivals. So let them have their fun before the real work begins", Hunluan says.
Izuku shakes his head a little but then decides take the time to look at some of the dragons in detail.
"What can you guys tell me about the brass dragon?", he then asks.
"Besides being a Great Wyrm, he is the weakest of the metallic dragons and talks too damn much and those are the nicest things I will say about him", Buraee says, which Izuku felt was true seeing how he felt an aura of gregarious and talkative from the creature even from this distance.
"Least I know it's a him now", Izuku says before looking Licitum, "What about you?"
"Buraee is not wrong about how the brass dragon would rather talk than fight and his kind will not fight an opponent unless they already have an advantage. But even then, they are known to let defeated enemy retreat rather than destroy them, thus giving them the chance to start trouble again later.", the lawful dragon answers.
"Hmm", Izuku says before turning to Nefer, "You?"
"The fact that a brass dragon would rather talk than fight is a commendable quality to have in the Dragonscape and a rare one. Brass dragons simply want to know things for the sake of knowing them; how can you fault that?", Nefer says.
"Hunluan?"
"Brass dragon do this real funny thing in that if you leave without trying to talking to them, they'll knock you out with their sleeping breath and you'll wake up buried up to your neck in sand. It's fucking hilarious!", Hunluan laughs.
"What the hell?", Izuku asks before realizing what the chaotic dragon just said, "Sleeping breath?"
"Yeah, it's the brass dragon's secondary breath after its poison gas breath", Hunluan says.
"He has two breath attacks?"
"All metallic have a second, non-lethal, breath attack which is a special ability of theirs", Nefer explains.
"Special ability, huh? That means I have to form a deeper mental connection with them to get it then", Izuku remembers before looking at Dogal, "And what do you have to say?"
"Another way to see a brass dragon love of conversation is to see it as a love of gathering information. Brass dragons maintain a highly sufficient information network that is only surpass by the blue dragons. If you pass through a brass dragon's territory, it more than likely knew of your arrival days in advance. But because they like to talk so much they can irritate people into something that did not mean to say out of anger", Dogal says, "A brass dragon will find out your greatest weakness whether they find out on they own or they trick you into admitting it yourself."
"Okay, going off how highly Nefer and Hunluan spoke about them, I'm going to assume that a brass dragon is chaotic good, right?", Izuku ask.
"That is correct", Dogal says, "Might I suggest you focus on the green dragon studying the surroundings?"
"Okay, what about them?", Izuku asks, focusing his attention to the dragon who was currently scratching the surface with its claws before bringing them up to its face, examining it closely.
"She is the Great Wyrm Green Dragon just so you're aware", Nefer says, "Her kind are liars and manipulators and you would be wise to not trust a single word that comes out of her mouth."
"They pursue knowledge purely for educational reasons and nothing more, an admirable trait.", Licitum adds, "They are also the most likely out of the chromatic dragons that you can have diplomatic talks with and come to a non-violent solution."
"The way the green dragons spin words and double meanings around to gave the advantage in talks is a trait that is highly respected. Make no mistake, any deals with their kind is always in their favor even if you do not know it yet", Buraee smiles.
"Eh, they're way too patient for my taste", Hunluan shrugs, "If you chase one out of it turf, it will simply wait a decade or two before coming back and getting back at you when your guard is down. I personally like to live in the here and now and believe that revenge is best serve hot and steamy. Speaking of which, everyone is waiting for you to hand the Bakugo twins and their gang their asses and I'm waiting for you to get hot and steamy with Hats-"
"Dogal?", Izuku asks, ignoring the chaotic dragon's last statement.
"If the brass dragon loves to talk then the green dragon loves to lie and scheme. They will conjure up elaborate schemes that in the end allow them to gain the most while losing the least. They are always seeing the bigger picture and will gladly sacrifice an ally to gain three more powerful ones in return", the neutral dragon answers, "I would not be surprise in the slightest if she decides to use this meeting to gain an advantage over everyone present including ourselves. Beware her honey tongue."
"Okay, going off of all that, I would have to say she is….Lawful Evil then", Izuku says, receiving a nod from Dogal in confirmation, "Okay, what is with the bronze dragon?"
"He is a Great Wyrm Bronze Dragon and his kind are dedicated to eradicating evil of all sorts and will immediately join an army if its cause is just and right", Licitum states.
"They oppose all types of tyranny and oppression, especially those that happen along the coastline", Nefer states.
"They easily ruin all the fun of honest-working pirates and raiders", Buraee sneers.
"They are way too serious, but in comparison to the silver and gold dragons, they're actually laid back", Hunluan summaries.
"You shall never find a more capable commander than a bronze dragon since their isolationists nature allows them to focus their attention toward war and learning how to properly conduct one", Dogal states before focusing his attention on the chromatic and metallic dragons as a whole, "It seem they are almost done and ready to start the meeting."
"Oh boy", Izuku says.
"Brief rundown of the remaining blue, silver, red and gold dragons. First off, they are all Great Wyrms obviously. The blue and red are males while the silver and gold are females. Blue dragons have the best informant network around while the silver dragon holds themselves to an absurd high standard. The red and gold dragons sit atop of the major chromatic and metallic dragons respectively and expect to be treated as such, but they are polar opposites in nearly every way. If there is anyone opinions you should listen to, it is theirs since they have the greatest forces among the dragons.", Dogal whispers to Izuku before clearing his voice and thus drawing all the attention of the Great Wyrms to him.
"You have all traveled far and wide to meet here and it is truly a rare occurrence to have ten Great Wyrms gather in one place. But this also means that whatever is the reason for such a meeting must be grave indeed to provoke such an event", Dogal begun before looking at the silver dragon, "Despite the brass dragon informing us of such a meeting, we have been told that you were the one who ask for it in the first place. The floor is now yours so you might explain why."
"I thank you for allowing me to speak", the silver spoke and for a moment Izuku imagines that he was listening to a female version of All Might due to how she carried herself with a posture that radiating an aura of justice and duty.
If All Might was also a giant wing-creature that could level entire cities with ease.
"About a week ago, one of my young dragons spotted a military scouting party from the Giant's Empire of Ostoria while he was looking for food. He watched them for a time before they left back on their ship", the silver dragon spoke.
"This is alarming", the bronze dragon says, "Up till now, only merchants, and the occasional scholar of the Ostoria Empire and their vassals have ever come to our shores, but never an official military unit."
"This dragonling of your should have destroyed the ship right then and there!", Bluutsvilvarrt booms at the silver dragon, "That would have sent a messages to the giants to their armies stay out of dragon lands!"
"Or be seem as an act of war and give them all the reason to mount a full scale invasion of this land! This in turn would mean that they will pick us off one by one until we are extinct!", Ugilanistorda counters.
"Maybe you could tell them one of your bad jokes and they will leave us alone out of pity seeing how we have to constantly deal with you", Cheynchaytion states.
"I say, must you make such brutish statements here and now? Obviously, you have no idea the full strength the giants possess or else you would not be making such outrageous jests right now. If the giants were to invade now we would-", the brass dragon began to speak.
"Talk them to death?", the green dragon hisses, poisonous gas seeping through her teeth as she spoke, "Because that is exactly what you are about to do if someone does not stop you right now!"
"Funny how you are criticizing others right now when we all know that if the giants were to invade, you and your lot would scurry off and hide in your forest, hoping for the danger to pass you by", the bronze dragon states.
"And I suppose that you think that your forces are prepare to fight them off? From what I have gather you might last a week or two at best before you are overrun", the blue dragon adds in, lightning arcing between his teeth as he open his jaws to speak.
"My clan has fought them off before", the bronze dragon replies, "Singlehandedly if your records recall."
"That was a long time ago even in dragon terms. No doubt their numbers, tactics, and equipment have change", the blue dragon retorts.
"Then I guess we will have to try a little bit harder this time. What does your clan plan on doing? Watching from afar while hoping to find out information that will make your groveling to them all the easier?", the bronze dragon then says, a sneer appearing across his lips.
Soon enough eight of the ten dragons were roaring, spreading out their wings, and stomping the ground underneath them in a display of aggression at one another while the red and gold dragon barely paid them any attention while doing so.
The two of them seem to be more focus on each other than the others as Izuku observe them.
Despite this being his first time meeting them outside of his dream, he quickly notices the air of familiarity the two had between them, mostly in the way they regarding one another.
It was respectful, if only begrudgingly, but still in a manner that basically signal to everyone around that they were definitely not friends but they possibly knew each other well enough.
Refocusing his mind on the matter at hand, the boy turns to the neutral dragon.
"Dogal", Izuku says, "These giants they are talking about. Do they mean actual giants?"
"Correct, as in the ones that tower over the landscape and most other creatures. Across the great ocean north of these island we are currently on lays an immense empire founded by the race of giants as well as their vassals races. A long time ago, the giants made an attempt to conquer these lands when their nation was still young and were force back with heavy losses. As you just heard, it was current leader of the bronze dragons' grandfather, one of his predecessors, that dealt them this heavy blow", Dogal explain.
"There have been other clan leaders before these guys?", Izuku says.
"Of course. The red and gold dragons you see before you are the only ones who were around when the giants first invaded, granted they were only freshly hatch wyrmlings from what Ugilanistorda has told us. All the others were not even born yet", Licitum says.
"And everyone is worry that another invasion might be bigger than the last one?", Izuku asks.
"Giants are an ever-expanding and very long-lived race. They might not live nearly as long as dragons but they never forget past grievances. Plus they have a number of non-giants vassal races now to call upon as well", Licitum says, "No doubt the invasion force they have plan for these lands will eclipse the last one by a great multitude."
"They also know that dragons are a divided race and thus they can focus on each dragon clan and their islands and pick them off one at a time", Buraee adds.
"Exactly how divided are these dragons?", Izuku asks.
"In a way that makes the divisions of your world look tame by comparison", Nefer answers, "Each respective dragon clan is only in it for themselves and would rather see a whole clan of dragons die out than risk one of their own. It also does not help that these islands seem to have has been stuck in a perpetual state of on-and-off warfare between these ten great wyrms dragon clans for two millennium now, at least in the Dragonscape time scale."
"Yeah, even if their neighbor is being attacked, not one of them will come to their aid even if they fall under their respective group. For example, just because the gold and silver dragons are of the metallic group does not automatically make them friends. They might be more civil than their chromatic counterparts, and conflict between metallics is rare. Also, believe or not, all of the dragons openly trade with one another, but they're still not buddies by any means", Hunluan starts to says.
"For when it gets right down to it, they will gladly sacrifice the other if it means that their respective kind will have a better chance of survival", Licitum finishes.
"I see", Izuku says as he tries to wrap his head around what he was hearing. Not one of these dragons will come to the aid of the others no matter what, simply because they were not of their kind.
"What if All Might was like that? Just left people to die for something like that?", Izuku thought, "You think they would team up to combat a great threat but I gue-"
A thought occur to Izuku.
A grave thought.
"Dogal", he then says.
"Yes, Midoriya?"
"If Cheynchaytion, Bluutsvilvarrt, or Ugilanistorda were to died to the giants or in some other way, what would that mean for me?"
"Well since you channel their essence and they need to be alive for you to use said essence, you would no doubt lose the ability to transform into them", Dogal answers.
"Could I just use one of the other dragons of their kind if that happens?", Izuku asks, his anxiety now growing.
"Only a Great Wyrm can survive the channeling ritual and there are only five of those for each clan. Plus also realize that the giants and dragons are mortal enemies and if they cannot enslave a dragon they will most certainly slay them. If an invasion force lands, the dragons will face an extinction level event if they lose", Dogal answers, "Plus there is also the other problem."
"What other problem?", Izuku question.
"The possibility of severe backlash from the connection between you and the dragons being broken. For all we know, it could be fatal", Dogal says.
…..
"So what you're saying is that I have a personal stake in this whole dragons vs giants thing?", Izuku asks.
"Yes, you do", Dogal replies.
Izuku could feel another headache coming on and as the gears in his head began to turn he felt like he had to do something since the Dragonscape was technically a by-product of his draconic aura and thus he felt that he had to intervene or do something along those lines. But just one glance at the chromatic and metallic dragons told him that they might not be too keen on listening to him seeing how he was so small compare to them as well as not being one of them.
But they seem to listen to Dogal for some reason and he could use that.
"Hey, can everyone gather around for a bit?", Izuku then says to the alignment dragons.
They all lower their heads down to Izuku's level and he whispers something to them that cause all of their eyes widen in size as the boy spoke.
"This plan is….crazy enough to work", Dogal finds himself admitting, "I mean what else do we have to lose?"
"Everything", Hunluan points out, "These guys and gals didn't come here for that. If anything, they just want a temporarily truce at best. Go from a hot war to a cold one with each other."
"You have a better idea?", Buraee asks, "Because I doubt the giants are just going to ignore a two hundred kilometers high tower if they push this far."
"I say we give it a chance", Licitum says.
"As do I", Nefer agrees.
"Then we are all in agreement", Dogal says as he rears his head back and roars, drawing all attention to him.
'Would appreciate it if you didn't roar right next to me", Izuku mutters.
"Cease your squabbles and listen to the words I have to say!", Dogal's voice booms, "For the young bearer has propose a plan that could very well save these lands!"
"Oh?", the red dragons spoke for the first time, his voice heating the very air around him just by speaking as flames the size of SUVs came out of his mouth every time he spoke and for a moment in time Izuku was reminded of his father, "And what does this human boy have to say?"
Izuku raises an eyebrow at this statement but says nothing. Instead he regards the red dragon for a moment.
Arrogance and Destructive.
That is what this one represented and for moment Izuku was certain that if the red dragon and the Bakugo twins were to ever meet they would get along just fine.
In fact, maybe a little too well.
"He proposes that we form an alliance. A mutual defensive one", Dogal says.
"Ha! The boy jests if he thinks that such a thing is possible between us!", the green dragons laughs, "I would rather burn my entire forest down than help anyone here! I just everyone to leave me in peace while I prepare for the giants!"
"So Hunluan was right", Izuku thought.
"Such an action might soon come to pass if you lot do not put aside your petty differences. If not by your hand than certainly by those of the giants once they get here", Dogal says, "They are now a threat the likes of which none of you can hope to take on alone. They also know that your biggest weakness is your unwillingness to come to each other aid and that is the greatest advantage they have over you; their unity against your disunity."
….
….
Silence blankets the surrounding area as each dragon allows for Dogal's word to sink in.
"Now the bearer is not proposing that you all of sudden become the greatest of friends and forget about past grievances, so set your mind at ease of such notions", Dogal says.
"It would make things way easier though", Izuku thought.
"But if you want to survive the storm that is coming you can only do so together", Dogal continues speaking.
"So what is being propose here?", the silver dragon asks.
"A combination of a defense pact and a non-aggression pact", Dogal answers, "In the event of an invasion from the giants or another outside entity, each dragon faction here will be honor-bound to provide forces for the mutual defense of our group of islands, even if it is to aid their sworn enemies. But in turn, each faction will not make war upon another if they sign the agreement."
"You just stated that you were not asking for us to forget past grievances and yet here you are telling us that if we agree to this….pact, we can avenge those past grievances", the blue dragon says, arcs of lightning dancing between his mouth as he spoke.
"I am merely asking you not to create future grievances and thus waste strength and resources on one another when they can be put to use against the giants", Dogal says.
"The bronze dragon and I are currently battling over a small island that lies between our territories", the blue dragon states, "Am I to pull my forces out and let him have it?"
"No, if both of you agree to this pact then you both would pull your forces out and come to a compromise", Dogal answers.
"Your mouth produces words but they might as well be gibberish. Why should I withdraw my forces?", the blue dragon says.
"For we may need every combatants the islands can muster for this conflict", Licitum asks, "For unless you plan on launching a counter invasion of Ostoria in order to ensure their destruction, then the giants will continue to be a thorn in our side even if they are repel this time and that is a big if."
"So you seek to unite us against a common foe and as long as that foe exist so shall this pact?", the gold dragon speaks, her voice carrying through the air like a melody but heavy with authority, "I must say that this is a unique way to finally bring peace to our islands."
"A forced peace is always far better than war, is it not?", Dogal asks.
"That it is. I for one have grown tired of the constant fighting", the gold dragon says before turning her head to look at the red dragon, "Have you not as well?"
Her response was a heated glare from the mightiest of chromatic dragons but he did not disagree, at least not vocally.
"I thought as much. You merely want to spend the rest of your days sleeping on your hoard", the gold dragon says before returning her attention to Dogal, or more specifically to Izuku, "I wish to speak to the young bearer."
Izuku suddenly felt an immense pressure center around him as all the Great Wyrms turn their focus to him and the gold dragon's eyes that resemble that of molten gold lock with his.
"They're almost like Toga", he thought.
"Tell me….", the top metallic dragon spoke.
"Midoriya", Izuku answers as he snaps back to his senses.
"Hmmm...a strange name for a human but a name nonetheless", the dragon says, "Tell me, Midoriya, what do you seek to give us if we are to agree to this pact?"
"Excuse me?", Izuku asks, unsure if whether or not he heard her right.
"Very rarely will a dragon do something for nothing and you are asking for us to do a lot", she says as she points her tail at bronze dragon, "His father, for example, were slain in battle against the red dragon currently standing here about two hundred years ago. I dare ask you if he is suppose to forgive him for such a crime?"
Izuku glances over at the bronze dragon and could hardly miss the fierce glare he was throwing at the red dragon who seem to barely acknowledge the younger dragon's presence.
"I guess it would be impossible for me to ask him to do that. It would be almost the equivalent of me forgiving Katsuki and Kasumi for everything they did to me", Izuku thought before speaking, "No, I would not ask him to do such a thing."
"Oh, then what you are asking for is-", the gold dragon spoke.
"I was not finish talking", Izuku says, catching all the dragons' presence off-guard.
Even the red dragon seem to raise an eyebrow in surprise.
"I would not ask him to forgive the red dragon for what he did, but in exchange for a name and title, I would ask that he merely set aside his differences with him for the sake of the defending these lands", Izuku finishes.
"Oh? An incentive to entice us to agree to this pact?", the gold dragon, "You would play on a dragon's ever-growing quest for more power so that we would play nice with each other?"
"I have a strong feeling that's why you all came here to begin with", Izuku says before pointing at the white, black, and copper dragons, "I also have a strong feeling that in their current state, all three of them are just as strong as you and the red dragon, physically, and that greatly changes the balance of power in these group of islands."
"An acute observation especially for a human", the gold dragons says, "So in exchange for joining this…."
"Let us call it something along the lines of a "Great Dragon Alliance", if you will", Dogal says.
"Simple and to the point, I like it", the gold dragon comments, "In exchange of us joining the Great Dragon Alliance, you will bestow upon us names and titles, right?"
"Wrong", Izuku answers, "Where is this confidence coming from all of a sudden?"
"I beg your pardon", the gold dragon says.
"In exchange for you agreeing to the treaty, you will also allow Licitum, Nefer, Buraee, and Hunluan to establish a channel with you all so that I may call upon your power if needed back where I'm from", Izuku explains, "Only then will I bestow upon you a name and title."
"Crafty for a human", the blue dragon remarks, "In exchange for getting something that he wants, he gives us something that we want."
"The fact that simply killing him will not get me what I want infuriates me to no end", the red dragon speaks.
"So are we all in agreement then?", Dogal asks.
"Not quite", the green dragon speaks up.
"Is there something you would like to add?", Buraee says.
"Yes, I believe that limits, guidelines, and such need to be set", the green dragon hisses.
"Such as what?", Dogal asks.
"It would seem that the biggest advantage of this alliance will be to show the giants that they face a unify foe if they invade, but should that not deter them and action has to be taken, who shall be in charge?", the green dragon asks.
"Perhaps a council of sorts compose of all of us", the brass dragon suggests, "And we can convene all council meetings at this location."
"A Council of Great Wyrms? I suppose that is the best course of action", the silver dragon agrees, "But then who shall be the commander of our armies if they have to be form? You honestly cannot expect the forces of the blue dragon to obey the orders of a bronze dragon, now can you? Or are we to have ten separate armies that operate independently of each other?"
"That would pose just as many problems than if we were not in an alliance at all for there would be no coordination between the armies and the giants would exploit that.", the bronze dragon states.
"Then the council shall meet to nominate a commander soon the need arise", Dogal states.
"Each one of us would only vote for ourselves or one of our clan; an agreement would never be reach", the blue dragon counters.
"Not if you make the kid the tie breaker", Hunluan says.
…..
Izuku would have never believe that the ten Great Wyrms in front of him could have form dumbfounded expression on their faces if he did not see it for himself.
And they were all forming said expression while looking at him.
"Surely you are not suggest that this human is on equal standing with the likes of us", the green dragon says.
"I am afraid I no choice but to be in agreement with her. Bearer of the Supreme Essence he may be, he has no place having a voice in matters that involve dragons", the bronze dragon says while all the other just nod, including the white, black, and copper dragon.
"We have already taken to his suggestion to have an alliance. Once he gives us names and titles, he can go about his business and leave the real work to us", the blue dragon adds.
"Oh really? I give you guys a decade, maybe two tops, before you all are back at each other's throats while the giants just wait for the right moment to pounce", Hunluan says with a laugh.
"What are you doing?", Licitum asks.
"Making sure the kid gets his fair share", the chaotic dragon replies.
"Then the floor is yours", Dogal merely says.
"Listen up because I'm just going to say what we're all thinking and that is that this alliance has a fifty/fifty chance of failing or succeeding", Hunluan starts out, "Let's be honest because you're all probably thinking it right now."
"Well if we are being truthful here", Cheynchaytion says.
"Truthfully, I gave it more of an eighty percent chance of failing", the brass dragon admits.
"And the reason being is because everyone here would sooner see the dragon next to them dead than a friend. And let's be honest with ourselves; disputes, arguments, possibly even skirmishes are going to break out and we're going to need a middle man to mediate between everyone", Hunluan kept going,.
"We already have ambassadors who can accomplish this task", the silver dragon points out.
"That would be true if they didn't already share the same opinion as you lot", the chaotic dragon counters, "What we need is a true outsider. Someone who truly sits on neutral ground."
She then turns her attention over to Izuku, "That's why I think he should be that someone."
"Why are you doing this?", Izuku hisses.
"Hmm, that actually makes a lot of sense", Dogal agrees.
"I don't know the first thing about dragons and how to settle their arguments!", Izuku states.
"It's a trial by fire approach, you'll be fine. You seem to deal with the girls well enough", Hunluan points out.
"Those are two completely different things and you know it and I have no idea what you are talking about!", Izuku shouts.
"How about we give him the title of Conciliator then?", Dogal suggests, "His job will be to mediate between major disputes and help come to an agreement. He will also serve as a tie-breaker should the need arise in council matters."
All of the dragons share a look with each other, thinking over Dogal's words.
After an eternity though they all slowly start to nod their heads in agreement, including the red and gold dragons.
"Then the human shall be known as the Dragon Conciliator. Now that that is out of the way, it would seem that the only thing left to do now is to formalize this alliance", the red dragon then seethes before looking at all the other dragons present, "I cannot believe I am about to consider all of you weaklings my allies. The times really are changing."
"Think of it as an alliance of convenience if you will", the gold dragon says, "Because if the giants invade, your territory and mine would be next in line to be invaded right after the bronze dragon."
"Every single one of my minions would fight to their last breath", the red dragon states.
"And the giants would still win and take your hoard in the end", the gold dragon says.
A grumbling akin to a volcano rumbling was all that could be heard coming out of the red dragon's mouth in response.
"If there are no more objections or issue", Licitum says as he steps forward and his scales began to glow and before Izuku very eyes, a massive piece of parchment appears in the center of the great wyrms with words written in strange symbols on it.
"Wait a minute, is that….?", Izuku starts.
"Iokharic, the written language of dragons", Dogal answers, "A alliance of this magnitude deserves no less."
Izuku watches on bated breath as each of the great wyrms read over the treaty in detail, discussing key points and pointing out flaws and wording that had to be debating on. The process took hours and over a dozen changes had to be made to it, which Licitum did right then and there.
"So is that like Licitum's special ability or something?", Izuku asks as he sat on the ground watching the great wyrms "debate" the document.
"As the dragon of the lawful alignment, in a way, yes", Nefer answers, "He can instantly makes agreements and such appear out of thin air, already written out and change they as need be. It is only after they are signed that he can no longer change them. He can also find loopholes and such within them as well and on top of all that he instantly knows any culture's laws and traditions upon making contact with them but only if they exist in the Dragonscape."
"Do y'all have special abilities as well?"
"Mine is the alignment reading that you witness before", Dogal says.
"Mine is the power to suppress single emotion for a limited amount of time", Buraee says with a cruel smile, "I believe you and the rich girl are acquaint with that when I took away your fear."
Izuku rolls his eyes at this before turning to Hunluan.
"I have a thing call Triplesight, which is truesight, blindsight, and dragonsight all roll into one. I can basically see things on multiple levels and break the fourth wall from time to time", the chaotic dragon says.
"Wait wall what?", Izuku asks.
"Your mind is not ready for that yet. Just like the world wasn't ready for Darth Vader to be Luke's father or Leia to be his sister", Hunluan answers.
Izuku dons an expression of pure confusion before turning to look at Nefer.
"Believe or not, I have the ability to heal", she answers.
"Really?"
"Yes, but only in the Dragonscape", Nefer says.
"Is that so?", Izuku says but a roar prevents him from saying anything else and it seem to come from Licitum.
"I believe they are ready to sign", Dogal declares and Izuku gets up.
"About time", he grumbles.
"Dragons do not enter into alliances likely for they will live long enough to feel the full weight of them if they turn out wrong", Dogal states, "The fact that they only took seven hours to come to an agreement on the document is actually quite a miracle."
"Seriously?", Izuku says.
"Now, as agree, upon you placing your claw print on this document, you, your forces, and your territory shall be a part of the Great Dragon Alliance of….", Licitum says before stopping.
"Is something wrong?", Dogal asks.
"The one thing we have yet to come to agreement on is the names of these islands for they seem to have never have had one", Licitum admits, "Everyone believes it would bring more prestige to these lands and our alliance if these group of islands had one."
"Just call it the Dragons islands or something", Hunluan says.
"We need something better than that", Nefer says.
"The Great Dragon Islands then, Better?", Hunluan says.
"Not even a little", Nefer answers.
"How about Mior Tolgalens?", Izuku suggests.
…..
Slowly but surely this prompts every single dragon, including the alignment ones, to turn their heads to stare at Izuku who suddenly felt extremely small in their presence. For a moment, he felt like he was back at Aldera, just as the teacher announce that he wanted to go to U.A. and everyone made fun of him.
"Did I say something wrong? If I did than I am extremely sorry and I-" Izuku starts to apologizes, but this gets interrupted by the red dragon suddenly moving toward him, his steps creating tremors and heatwaves as he got closer and closer.
Suddenly five figures appear in front of him and he sees that all the alignment dragons had move directly in the path of the chromatic dragon with Dogal directly in front of him while Licitum and Nefer were on his left and Hunluan and Buraee were on his right. All of them had their wings spread out and their teeth bare. This included even Hunluan who for the first time had a serious look on her face.
"You shall not come one step closer", Dogal growls, another first.
Amazingly, the red dragon stops a reasonable distance away, the expression on his face clearly conveying whether or not he wanted to risk moving closer.
"Where did you learn that name from?", he then speaks, deciding that he was close enough.
To Izuku's surprise, it sounded more like a genuine question than a threat of any type.
"I-I-", Izuku says.
"Be calm, Conciliator, he will not harm you. I will personally see to that", the gold dragon says as she came up next to the red dragon, close enough that the red dragon temporarily shifts his attention to her with a cold glare before looking back at Izuku, "But I too would like to know where did you learn that name from."
"I didn't learn it from anywhere. It just suddenly pop into my head. I was just standing here and next thing I know Mior Tolgalens appear in my mind", Izuku admits.
Both the gold and red dragon stare at Izuku, their eyes showing no sign of anger but merely curiosity.
"I apologize if any of my actions have offended you, Conciliator", the gold dragon then spoke after a long moment of silence, "It seems that I have underestimate as well as undervalued you."
"I as well", the red dragon adds, an action that seem to surprise all the other dragons in attendance, including Dogal.
Izuku found himself unable to response to this simply because he did not know what to say.
Sensing this, Licitum speaks up.
"Very well, the Great Dragon Alliance of Mior Tolgalens shall be official once you all place your claw prints here. In exchange for names and titles, you will allow yourself to be channel and lend your forces to the defense of our group of islands", he said as he points to a specific point on the document.
The red and gold dragon instantly move to press their claws print on that spot
"Wait", Izuku says, his voice carry a surprising tone of authority with it.
"Is something the matter?", Dogal asks.
"I would like to name them first", Izuku declares.
"The contract states that you will name them after they sign", Licitum points out.
"Well, let's just say that I would like them to have names to begin with in order for them to sign it properly", Izuku says as his feet begin to move on their own and he walks straight up to the nearest dragon which was the green dragon, and closes his eyes as he felt an aura of obsessive and deceiving emit from her, but for a faint moment he felt one of knowledge gathering and learning from her.
"If you would allow it, I would like for you to be known as Kranimatraxius, The Philomath Queen of the Waterfall Forest", he declares. The green dragon ponders the thought for a moment before giving the smallest of bows to Izuku.
Taking this a good sign he moves on to the brass dragon and repeats the process, feeling around until he felt dragon's aura of gregarious and talkative.
"Fellithysaar, The Garrulous King of the Serenity Desert."
Then came the blue dragon with an aura of cunning and manipulative.
"Lothaenorixius, The Machiavellian King of the Scorching Sands."
Then the bronze dragon which was surrounded by aura of trustworthy and dedication.
"Saluraropicrusa, The Steadfast King of the Tempest Isles."
Next came the silver dragon, of strictness and duty.
"Nymbryxion, The Gallant Queen of the Radiant Mountains."
Finally Izuku found himself standing before the red and gold dragon, their immense might rolling off their bodies in massive waves.
First he look at the red dragon and for a moment he was reminded of the Bakugo twins since dragon was full of arrogance and destructive, just like them though at a much greater degree. But since it showed him a small form of respect then maybe, just maybe, there was hope for the twins yet.
"Bheilorveilthion, The Annihilation King of the Burning Lands."
The red dragon nods his head in approval and Izuku took this as his cue to move on to the gold dragon.
For a moment in time he just stares at her and finds himself reminded of Melissa and Nefer when he did so. Her aura of benevolence and virtue was nearly overwhelming but now he knew better than to think that she did not know how to use those fangs and teeth of hers, seeing how both the girl and the good dragon have shown that kindness is not equal to weakness.
But for a short span he found himself thinking of Himiko as he stares into the gold dragon's eyes and yet he did not know why. If anything, that girl would have probably been more akin to the red dragon if anything but no, it was in this...paragon of dragons that he saw her.
Regardless, he shakes such thoughts out of his head and moves on with his task.
"Sheeredni-vaktar, The Benevolent Queen of the Glimmering Plains", he finally says and the gold dragon gives a nod as well.
"Does anyone object to these names and titles?", Dogal asks.
He receive a chorus of nay as a response.
"Then sign your names and prepare yourself to be channel", Dogal says to which each dragon did as they seem to focus their energy into their claws and began to write.
Dogal then turns to Izuku.
"We shall update you in the morning, but for now it is time for you to go", he says before a white light envelopes Izuku.
When the light vanish and Izuku was gone, Dogal turns to his fellow alignment dragons.
"For him to speak those words not once but twice and yet still live. It was truly a miracle", Nefer says.
"Yes, for no non-dragons can speak those words and survive yet he looked no worse for wear after doing so", Licitum says.
"Perhaps the boy is stronger than we initially thought he was", Buraee adds.
"Now if he could just do something about him getting a girlfriend….or five", Hunluan says.
"In due time", Dogal says, "But for now we must send word everywhere we can of this new alliance and that from this day forth that these specific ten island groups within the archipelago shall henceforth be known as Mior Tolgalens, or in the non-draconian words…..The Blood Isles."
A/N: I had to reach all the way back in DnD lore to get the Blood Isles (Located in the 2nd edition "Council of Wyrms" book) so I figure only a few people will get the reference. Just so everyone is aware the whole "Dragons vs Giants" won't have Izuku get directly for awhile since I want him to be in U.A. before that happens. In fact, it won't kick off until after the USJ incident which I have a big thing plan for that which will have ramifications across all of Japan, and perhaps beyond, for Izuku. The war will just be in the background to him for now and show that the Dragonscape moves on whether he is there or not.
