"You know what would be really cool." Max said as Ariana was driving back to Blackwell after their lunch.
"What would that be?" Ariana asked.
"If you transferred to the Arcadia Bay PD instead of staying at Portland PD." Max said making Ariana laugh.
"Max, I used to work for the Arcadia Bay PD, until that Prescott family decided to basically buy the whole damn town." Ariana said as she kept her eyes on the road. "And when that happened, I just felt that I could not and would not play babysitter for that family, so I requested a transfer, and luckily I got one fairly quick." She continued. "Best decision I've probably ever made." She finished.
The rest of the way was spent in silence. When they returned to Blackwell, and after they had parked up and headed towards the dorms, they saw that Mr. Jefferson was just leaving, as if he was running away from something. Moments later Ariana saw that a girl came running after him. Feeling sorry for him, Ariana told Max to hide while she distracted the girl, hoping that Mr. Jefferson would get some extra time to get away.
Stepping in front of the girl, not realising that the girl was holding something in her hands, Ariana got scolding hot coffee all over her clothes.
"Oh shit!" Ariana said as she tried to get as much of the got beverage off her as possible. "Watch's where you are going." She scolded the girl. She however didn't seem to care the slightest.
"That's your own fault for stepping in front of me." She said back. "I had that drink especially prepared for Mr. Jefferson." She continued. "And now he's gone." she said as Mr. Jefferson drove away from the school parking lot. "And who the hell are you anyway? You know that I can have the police called on you for trespassing on these properties." She said.
Hearing the girl talk all big, Ariana decided to flash the girl her badge.
"No need girly." Ariana said as she saw the girls face drain in colour. "Now what's this about an especially prepared drink? Should I be worried that this stain won't come off? Or that it contains something that it shouldn't." she continued.
"Shit!" The girl said under her breath, suddenly nervous. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realise…" the girls said before Ariana stopped her.
"Stop right there. I'll let it go this time, but if it happens again, you won't be as lucky." Ariana said as she put her best 'I dare you' face on. "Now, I've got somewhere to be, so could you kindly point me in the direction of the dormitories." Ariana said as the girl hastily pointed Ariana in the right direction before quickly walking away.
Once the coast was clear and the girl had walked on, Ariana motioned for Max to come out of hiding. Meanwhile, Ariana was looking at her shirt. She could probably use it to test for drugs. "Man, the boss is going to have a field day when he hears about this." Ariana thought as Max stopped right next to her.
"Who was that, Max?" Ariana asked her cousin as they continued to walk along the building in the direction of the dorms.
"That's Victoria Chase, she's like the schools' number one bitch." Max said as they kept walking towards the dorms.
"That bad huh." Ariana said as they kept walking. "She seemed to be in quite the hurry to reach your teacher, Mr. Jefferson." She continued.
"Yeah, she's always trying to get his attention." Max said. "Almost every day after class she goes up to his desk just to talk. I mean, I get it that she would like to hear his opinion on her work, who doesn't." she continued. "But lately, it feels like it's getting to be a little bit too possessive, like he belongs to her and only her." Max finished.
"Am I detecting some jealousy on your part Max?" Ariana said while she playfully nudged Max on her shoulder.
"W-what, n-no." Max said a little nervous.
"You sure?" Ariana said eying Max suspiciously. When Max remained silent Ariana burst out laughing. "I'm just kidding Max. Besides, you have already gotten further with him than her." She said as she continued to laugh at Max expression. "All jokes aside, I'm actually rooting for you on this one." She said.
"What! Why?" Max said in surprise.
"Well, I don't know. I've just got this feeling that the two of you would be a great match." Ariana said. "Well, if not him, how about that Warren guy?" Ariana asked remembering that Max had talked about a guy that seemed to like her more than a friend.
"He hates me these days." Max said as her shoulders sagged.
"What happened?" Ariana asked.
"I rejected his advances and said that I didn't want to risk losing him as a friend. Well, that turned out great." Max said with a bit of sarcasm at the end.
"I'm sorry to hear that Max." Ariana said as they continued to walk along the building. "So, this girl, this Victoria, how often does she bring drink for her teacher?" Ariana asked as she changed the topic.
"Almost every time we have his class. But I have never seen him drinking any of it. Why do you ask?" Max said.
"Oh, nothing specific but she did say that the drink she had was especially prepared for Mr. Jefferson. But it seemed it had a bit of an accident." Ariana said as she motioned to her shirt. "Did she give him any drinks during the party?" she asked Max.
"Now that you mentioned it, yes she did." Max said. "I mean, she basically has a free range when it comes to the events that the Vortex Club arranges." She continued.
"How so?" Ariana asked.
"She's one of the core members. You know the party I went to yesterday. It was arranged by that club." She continued. "Although, to me, it's more like a cult than a club." Max said as they reached the dorm area. "My dorm is this way." Max said as she led her cousin to the main entrance. "The section for the boys dorm is on the bottom floor and the girls dorm is one floor up." Max explained as they entered the building.
"Do you know if drugs are being used or taken during these parties?" Ariana asked as they went upstairs.
"I wouldn't be surprised if someone brings that stuff, but I don't go that very often so I can't say for sure. Maybe you can ask Dana when we see her." Mas said as she opened the door to the dorm.
"I'll knock and see if Dana is in." Max said as she went to knock on Danas door.
"Max, wait." Arian said suddenly before Max managed to knock.
"Yes?" Max asked as she turned to her cousin.
"I think it would be better if me and my boss talked with her on Monday. That way, we could take an official statement." Arian said. "In the meantime, do you have your camera?" she continued.
"I have it in my room." Max said as they walked along the corridor.
"Great, I'll just have that collected now then. The sooner I can have my friend have a look at it, the sooner it may be fixed." Ariana said as they entered the room.
"One moment." Max said as she collected the bag where she had put the camera with all the pieces in. "Here. And thank you for today, Ari." She continued.
"Just remember to call me if something like this happens again, alright." Ariana said as she said goodbye to her cousin before leaving the dorms. As she left the dorm Ariana picked up her phone and called her boss, explaining the situation.
