The Path A Ninja Walks...
Chapter Five
Pass Or Fail?
Training Begins!

-

The dawn broke the sky into a vibrant blue as Saseme made her way to the randezvu point to meet her new found team mates...

She looked alert and unaffected by the early morning rising unlike Sage who struggled with keeping his eyes open.
"At the very least I should have grabbed a cup of coffee." Hana muttered.
"Wiser that you didn't." said Saseme,"The caffeine would burn too quickly and your burn out would drop your capabilities."
"No one asked you." Hana mumbled.
"Cut her some slack she gave meaningful advice just now." Sage mumbled back to Saseme's defense, "Not to mention gave you a compliment technically...if you bothered to listen at all." he groaned and plopped his forehead into his folded arms.
Despite his foul mouth he actually did well to play peace keeper within the group...
Hours passed and the sun rose higher over head, leaving the three only more weary.

"Good morning class~" Kokoua grinned with a dumpling stick between her teeth.
"What do you mean class!?" Sage huffed, "There are only 3 of us!"
"You're late." Saseme growled tapping her toes in slight irritation.
"Sorry, sorry." chuckled the sensei, "You see I simply got lost on the path of life..."

Seriously I swear I have heard that line somewhere before...

Saseme tought to herself, but she couldn't wrack her brain on just where she heard it from.

"Yeah right." Hana muttered, "You mean you got lost on your way to breakfast..."
The sound of gurgling tummies surrounded them and each groaned in envy as they watched their sensei stuff her face.
"Hey what gives!?" Sage barked, "You told us not to eat so why do you get to!?"
"Oh that." Kokoua blinked as she cleaned her stick, "I tried...but I simply couldn't~" her over dramatized smile made the team of genin cringe.
"Now then..." Suddenly her entire expression changed sending chills through the team of genin,"Let the lesson begin."

They made their way to to the training field, where Kokoua awaited to give the directions of their next assignment.
She juggled two scrolls between her hands, triggering the curiosity of the 3 young ninja trainees.
"Uh...Sensei...?" Sage was the first to speak up, "What's up with the scrolls?"
"Oh these?" Kokoua grinned as she stopped tossing them around to speak, "These are to be part of your training exercise today."
"Huh?" Sage blinked.
"Training exercise?" Hana blinked, "How exactly are we going to use scrolls for that?"
"Hmm." Kokoua chuckled, "A lot of missions may consist of gathering intel or retrieving objects." She stated, "Your exercise will be to take these two blank scrolls from me before sun down."
"And should we fail this assessment?" Saseme asked curiously.
Not that she had any doubt in herself.
She had been receiving intense training for plenty of her years of life.
However the fact remained that this was a Jounin against genin, despite being a "team" the difference in the ranked skill levels was massive.
There was no way something that seemed so simple came without some form of a catch-
And it was this catch that concerned her.

"Should you fail, hm?" she smirked, "Why it ought to be obvious." she snickered, "Should you fail this...simple simulation of a basic ninja mission...then, clearly you fail as a ninja, no?" she shrugged.
"In other words...I demote you."
"Demote!?" Hana gasped.
"Demote?" Sage blinked, "How the hell can you demote anything less than a genin!?"
"I guess the proper term would be to send you back to the Academy..." Kokoua pondered, "Ah but then...if you can't succeed in a simulation of a very common item retrieving mission...I wonder if you would even be worth the Academy's time?" she smirked, "Nah...surely not..."she shrugged, 'You may as well forget about becoming ninja at all!"
Everyone gasped.
Even Saseme twitched.
So this is a no holds barred strict pass or fail.
She thought to herself as she looked into the sky.
It's high noon...we have until sun down to retrieve the scrolls...
That gives us roughly 6 hours to lead this mission to success...

"Now then...any more questions~" Kokoua edged, "After all...the more time you waste now, the less time you will have to succeed...the clock has been ticking since I mentioned what your mission was."
"B-But that's not fair!" Hana huffed, "You were late so we were already working on less time from you having not shown up when you told us to!"
"Well then I suggest you waste no more time~" Kokoua teetered.
"The mission sounds easy enough~" said Sage as he threw his fist to his palm, "Let's do this!"
"Don't just go with this!" Hana huffed, "Stand up for yourself here she can't fail all of us!"
"She can and she will." said Saseme,"And we've wasted enough time as it is..."she huffed as she cocked her hips and folded her arms, "I am ready too."
"Well, count me out." Hana huffed.
"Very well." said Kokoua,"Then You all fail."
"What!?" Sage huffed.
"You were assigned as a team." she stated, "You go in as a team, you go down as a team. Should one of you refuse, you all pay."
Both Saseme and Sage shot a look toward Hana who gasped as the teacher explained these unfair circumstances.
Dammit...It's no good...

if I don't try then we all fail anyway!
She huffed.
Hardly fair, making me be out to be the bad guy or something!
I'll show her...

"Fine!" Hana huffed, "But it's still unfair!"
"This is a mission, Hana." said kokoua,"Did you expect the enemy to be fair?"
"...I guess not..."
"Very well then...since you all have complied, then wait for my mark." she aid as she held her arm up darting her eyes between the three genin.."Now then...Scatter!"
Within a winding wind of rose petals and leaves Kokoua was gone, and after her, each genin shot out, in their own direction.
