So, here she was at the infamous Daily Planet and doing her best to find Clark Kent, while she was doing her to avoid Lois Lane and any other nosy person that would get in her way.
The place smelt of stale coffee and other food that had gone off. It reminded her of a police station that was not kept tidy. And she weirdly loved the smell as it brought back strangely good memories that made her chuckle. Smell really was an excellent trigger for the memory.
And having to dodge the adults that barely see her was also muscle memory for her as she continued nearly to be stepped on.
But Clark Kent was nowhere in sight.
He was likely saving a kitten from a tree.
It was rather tacky just how many Superman stuff was decorated the entire place. You could tell that this place was Pro Hero.
Almost all of the reports were gathered happily around a TV, which meant that Superman was off saving the day somewhere else in the world. So, not a cat in tree then. So, she walked away looking somewhere else to find him.
She might as well sit down for a while.
And avoid being stood and trampled on.
So to say that he was rather surprised was an understatement of the day. All he wanted to do was write up his report of the day and do his best not to get fired today for not handing in his work on time. Or be under suspicion of Lois, who was on a warpath because something had happened with her Dad. But to find a small child in his office was rather a surprise that he did not see coming.
"Hi Mr Clark...I mean Mr Kent or is it?" she said confused and helpless she talked to herself.
He was rather surprised how well her English was from the accent he could tell that she was not from here. That she was Japanese.
"How can I help you?" he said as he pushed his glasses up.
The little just kicked her legs and laughed at him in a little giggling sound under her breath.
"I need you do something for me" she said sounding more like an adult.
And in then walked in Steve Lombard.
"I need you to make a phone call to..." said the little girl before she could finish her sentence.
She swung around the chair acting like a child.
"Oh Kent I see that you are babysitting again" said Steve Lombard.
The little girl just nodded in agreement.
"Mr Mr Mr Kent is..."
Steve Lombard did not seem to care much. But the guy looked like he wanted to say something but in front of child.
"Bye Bye" said the little girl as Steve Lombard walked away as his name was being called.
And then the little girl started to draw on paper again.
"I need to tell Mr Wayne that K-" she said sounding like an adult.
And then walked in Lois Lane.
"Who's the kid, Kent?" said Lois Lane half paying attention.
He heard the girl gulping.
Lois Lane locked eyes on the girl as if she was looking at her next article.
"Stranger Danger?" said the kid sounding scared.
He could not help but laugh at this.
He walked towards the kid to see what she was doing and direct Lois away from the kid as he could tell that she was up to something.
"Hey. Kid yo look familiar?" said Lois to the kid.
He did not even know her name.
He could see the scribbles that she was drawing. He saw that she saw him staring at it and smiled evilly at him.
"LLLois what are you doing in here?" said Clark nervously.
As he pushed the kid's chair in and the papers away as well.
"You running a nursery in here, Kent?" said Lois.
The kid was beginning to draw again using red and blue highlighters.
"Mr Kent...pplleaseee make the mean old Lady go away?" said the kid pleading.
This made Lois mad.
"Old?" said bad.
The little was almost sobbing.
Lois looked like she was struggling.
"Maybe you should go Lois" said Clark pushing up his glasses again.
This was a distraction and causing way too much attention. He quickly did his best to get Lois out of the room before anyone else came in.
And the moment he shut the door.
"Kudo Shinichi is alive and well" said the little girl.
CRACK
The sound of the small crack on the door and the handle breaking in his hand.
"What?" said Clark.
The little girl pushed the papers forward for him to see from where he was standing. She looked down at them and then up at him as she stared right away him.
"YOU of all people heard me" she said politely.
And then jumped down from the chair humming a song.
"She is resting right now as she is not well. But she is fine. So, there is no need to be worried about her as she is perfectly safe" said the little girl.
She looked annoyed that he did not move from the door.
And then sighed.
"Edowaga Christie" she said introducing herself.
"Shinichi-San and I are family. She had no way of getting into contact with Mr wayne and toldme the best way of getting in contact with him was through you. Since you know you did meet her. Twice in fact" she said.
She smiled at him.
"Do you like my picture?"
She said to him as she handed him a piece of paper.
He nervously opened it only to see a pictures of himself or rather Superman and Clark Kent. The girl had printed pictures of Superman and drew glasses on them as well as a suit and tie. And pictures of Clark Kent covered in the colours red and blue. All of them glued on like a child would and scribbled as well. But they both knew what she was saying.
Little did he realise that he had moved away from the door and she walked out before he could say anything.
He had just been blackmailed by a child.
It was best that he told Bruce this in person.
