Chapter 34
Neji has finally got Takara home. They go inside her apartment. Takara looks over and sees the bathroom light still on. She never turned it off. Neji gently puts Takara down on the couch. she puts her knees up to her chest and stares off into space with her big blue eyes. She doesn't want to look behind her. Takara then looks over at the front door. She remembers Eito carrying her out. She remembers how hot the suitcase was, how terrified she was, how badly she was shaking. Neji notices her looking at the front door. Takara then slowly closes her eyes. She opens them and sees the bathroom light and her bedroom door wide open.
Takara slowly gets up. She slowly walks to the bathroom. She sees her clothes still on the floor. The shower curtain is wide open. She can still feel the panic. Takara slowly looks over to her bedroom. She walks inside. Her eyes immediately go to the blood on the wall.
"That's a lot more than I remember."
Neji walks in and looks over at the blood on the wall. He then puts his hands on her shoulders. Takara looks back at Neji and puts one of her hands on his hands.
"I came back for you, and your front door was wide open. Then I came inside and...," Neji says until a tear comes down his face. "I knew something bad had happened to you." Neji then takes his arms and puts them around Takara. "I really thought I lost you. I promised to protect you and... I... I failed." More tears come down his face. "I'm so sorry Takara."
Takara's eyes get big seeing Neji so emotional. Takara hugs him. Neji puts his head in Takara's chest while he cries more. Takara puts her hand on his head.
"I'm okay now," Takara says in a quiet calm tone. "None of this is your fault. But you were able to save me."
"I didn't want you to experience all that again!" Neji says.
Takara lifts Neji's head up with her finger. Neji's face is slightly red from Takara's warmth and his tears. Neji's beautiful lavender white eyes are full of pain. Takara then wipes away Neji's tears.
"I think it was meant to happen again," Takara says. "I unfortunately had to go through that again, but it got rid of Eito, Leitangi, and unfortunately Leiji. But if it didn't happen, I wouldn't know the truth about Leiji, and I would honestly still be afraid knowing Eito and Leitangi were out there. They were always right behind me, and I didn't even know it. But it's okay, I don't ever have to go through that again."
Neji looks down at Takara. "Takara..."
"Yes?" Takara asks.
"Please, let me move in with you so I can protect you. If I were at home and not with you, I know I wouldn't be able to sleep, I'd be too worried."
Takara smiles and tears form in her eyes. "Are you sure Neji? But what about the Hyuga Clan? You have to protect Hinata, I thought!"
"I'm certain," Neji says. "Also, between you and me, I heard Naruto is going to ask out Hinata, so he can protect her. Especially when he's the next Hokage."
Takara looks over to the side and her cheeks slowly turn red. "Alright." She chuckles. "I wouldn't mind living with the love of my life."
Neji immediately smiles. He then picks up Takara and hugs her. Takara looks down at Neji and giggles.
"I get to wake up and the first thing I'll see is my princess," Neji says.
"I will be able to hold you, and you can hold me," Takara says. "And I get to receive forehead and nose kisses."
Neji then puts down Takara to kiss her forehead. Takara puts her head in Neji's chest.
"I love you so much," Takara says.
