Chapter 33
As usual, Narrated by Shelly Cope.
"Why do I feel like we know you?" Ben asks.
Fixing their gaze on Teddy, Izzy begins to feel panicked.
"I know the Chief has only one stepdaughter; you're not her. Although I feel familiar with you, I can't recall where we first met. You've never been in trouble with the police, have you? I get calls to represent them in court," Ben says, puzzled.
"Come on, Marie, we better get moving," Teddy replies.
"Oh, my goodness, is that you, Izzy?" Angie gasped as she moved forward and hugged her.
"Angie don't touch her," Teddy shouts.
But it was too late. Angie had Izzy in her arms.
Things seemed to happen in slow motion. Teddy moved between Bobby and Angie.
A scream left Izzy as she collapsed on the floor, crawling into the corner in a tight ball, screaming.
"Fuck Bobby," Teddy yells as Bobby sinks his teeth into his leg.
"What have I done?" Angie cries.
"She suffers from PTSD," Teddy says while attempting to leash Bobby.
"Teddy, I'm sorry. I had no idea," Angie sobbed.
"Angie, don't worry, I made the same mistake," Teddy comments.
Teddy was trying to seem confident, but he had no idea what to do next.
~T&I~
Despite Teddy having Bobby on a leash. Bobby wasn't having any of that. Positioned in front of Izzy, he made sure no one, including Teddy, could approach her.
Teddy was oblivious to the commotion happening around him.
The children in the café began to scream and cry. Parents demanded that Austin get the woman out as she was causing the children to be frightened. They indicated that they wouldn't be able come back if he didn't.
Neither Sam nor Austin was sure what was happening in the corner. It was unclear if there was some kind of fight going on. Teddy Cullen was with a woman they didn't recognize. She had multiple hair dye colors and piercings. They could only think that it was another one of his pick-ups. They assumed that the other woman he slept with had come and found him.
Sam offered a refund to the parents and the children.
People assembled both in and out of the café to watch the situation progress.
Izzy had spoken to Teddy about how she didn't want to be sedated during panic attacks.
After he frightened her, he took the time to read several articles on what to do when someone was having a panic attack. However, it was not straightforward to utilize any of the techniques.
He tried his best to stop people from coming close, thinking they were helping when, in fact, they were just making things worse.
She continued screaming like she did when he scared her. It looked like she was in pain, and it broke Teddy's heart.
Aware of Charlie's determination to take her back to New York, he didn't want Charlie to come. Izzy told Teddy how Charlie was trying to take away her independence.
Teddy could only think of calling Leah. He knew that Gemma would probably be with her. That's what he ended up doing. He dialed Gemma's number. It took four rings for her to answer.
~T&I~
"What's up, Teddy? You rarely call me?" Gemma asks.
"Is Leah with you?" Teddy asks abruptly. No time for small talk.
"Yea, she's here?" Gemma said, puzzled.
"Could I speak to her? It's important," Teddy says in a rush.
"Where are you? Is that Izzy I hear screaming?" Gemma panicked.
Leah took the phone and asked, "What did you do to her? You'd only call me for that reason."
"I didn't do anything. Someone who recognized her, hugged her. Now, she's having a meltdown and I know she doesn't want sedation anymore and she doesn't want Charlie here," Teddy rushed.
"Where are you?" Leah asks. He was aware of her running.
"We're at the Fir Tree in the café?" Teddy answers.
"I'm on my way. Just sing to her until I get there," Leah commands.
"What shall I sing?" Teddy panicked.
"I don't know; something from the 60s. Fuck, a Beatles song or something," Leah growls as the phone went dead.
"But I don't know any Beatles songs," Teddy moans.
A woman's voice responded with the words, "I do."
He looked up and spotted Tanya. She knelt beside Izzy, keeping her distance, and started singing.
When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness,
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
It appeared to have a calming effect on her. At least she wasn't screaming, just making dog-like whimpering sounds.
Tanya kept singing. Teddy was hopeful that Leah would join them shortly.
When Leah didn't show up, Tanya continued to sing. This time, she sang Penny Lane.
The door opening caught Teddy's attention.
"Thank goodness you're here," Teddy sighs.
To his surprise, when he looked up, he realized it was the police and not Leah. Someone had called them.
Tyler smirked and asked, "What's happening here?"
"Tyler, you don't have to be here. The poor girl has PTSD," Ben says, attempting to take Tyler outside to avoid causing further distress for Izzy.
"Touch him again, boy, and I'll arrest you for interfering with the police," laughs Royce King, a new member of the police team in Forks.
According to the rumor, he's a corrupt cop. He was given the job by Mike Newton on request of old man Stanley. King was trying to oust Mark as the Chief.
It was also thought that he was helping Lauren run a brothel. But so far, no one has been able to gain entrance to the building except for men with influence from all over the county.
"What's happening here now?" Royce smirked. "Seems like some kind of hippy gathering."
"No, don't act like a jerk. Her PTSD triggered, causing an episode. We can manage without your assistance. This is a medical emergency, not a police issue." Riley snarls.
Royce smirked and said, "Watch the way you're talking to me."
Royce and Tyler reached the corner where Izzy remained curled up, crying, while Bobby stood guard, preventing anyone from approaching her.
Before Teddy could do anything, Royce had taken his baton and poked Bobby, making him growl.
"It seems like we're dealing with a dangerous dog. Is it right what we were told? Did the dog bite you, Cullen?" Royce snickered.
"This has nothing to do with you," Tanya answered. "We can manage without you being here."
"Tanya, we'll be the ones to decide that," Tyler grinned.
With a menacing smile and a glint in his eye. Royce tapped his baton against his hand as he approached Izzy. Her eyes became unfocused, and she let out a piercing scream while desperately trying to hide under a table.
"Come here, Izzy. Everything is okay. No one will hurt you," Teddy reassured.
"I don't like freaks disturbing the peace in my town. Scaring the residents who depend on me to protect them from crazy freaks like her," Royce continues.
Teddy was relieved when Leah burst through the door. She could try to calm Bobby, so he can attempt to calm Izzy.
"Stay where you are," Tyler informs.
"No way that I'm going to do that. You're terrorizing my sister. You wait till my mom finds out; she will have your shields. She's an FBI agent," Leah growled as she moved towards Teddy.
With Bobby's leash in hand, she made her way to the far end of the table.
"Follow me," Sam instructed as she directed Leah and Gemma to the kitchen. She didn't want Bobby biting anyone else.
"Who authorized you to let that girl go with that dangerous dog?" Tyler yells.
In an attempt to reach Izzy, Teddy crawled under the table while directing curses at Crowley.
"No, you don't," Tyler laughs as he pulls Teddy back by his jacket.
"Cuff the bastard for interfering in police business," Royce instructed as he tried to move the table.
Tyler pulled Teddy, making him lay on his front. While kneeling on his back cuffing him.
"Resist anymore and I'll charge you with not only disturbing the peace but also, with assault on a police officer," Tyler growled. "You already have a criminal record and I'll personally make sure you lose your job."
Royce moved the table to get to Izzy.
Izzy's eyes had a glazed blank look, combined with express pure terror.
Angie watched what was happening in the room. She cried even more, "What have I done?"
Tanya consoles her, saying, "Honey, you had no idea she had PTSD."
Officer King forcefully pushed Izzy onto her stomach, pressing his knee against her shoulder and neck, as Izzy continued to try and get away. Tyler started to put straps on her legs and ankles to stop her kicking.
Gasps filled the room as Izzy's back became exposed when her top lifted. Most people could see the scars on her back.
"Leave her alone," Riley shouted as he attempted to get Royce to release Izzy. "We all thought she was dead."
Charlie pushed through the door as a man loudly asked, "What happened to that poor girl?"
"We will never know the full story of what happened to her," Charlie responded. "Can you let me get to my daughter? King move out the way so we can help her."
"Swan, you're not the Chief anymore, so don't get involved," Royce snarls.
"Get those cuffs off her to start with and I want your badge numbers," Sue stated.
"We don't have to give you shit. I'll Tazer you if you don't move," Royce threatened.
"I'm a federal agent," Sue informs. "She is one of the survivors of the cult we successfully closed."
"Back off. Neither of you have any jurisdiction in this town," Royce growls still holding Izzy down.
"No, but I do. Can you let me through?" Mark instructed. "Crowley, remove the cuffs off Mr. Cullen and clear out everyone not involved."
"Charlie, I'm so sorry I didn't know she didn't like being touched or I would have never done it. This is all my fault," Angie cries.
"It's not your fault, Angie. This is why she shouldn't stay here. Nothing good would come from her choice," Charlie growls.
"I'm not doing this here, Charlie, but I told you to stop. She needs to move on and take charge of her life. She's come a long way in the last five years," Helen remarked.
No one had noticed that Teddy had crawled to Izzy trying to loosen the straps from her legs. Her tears and whimpering were as if she was in pain.
"No one told us that she was found five years ago," Ryley declares.
"It's more complicated than just her coming home. Someone held her hostage somewhere else. One of the bastards who kidnapped her used her as a bargaining tool to get immunity for him and his girlfriend; making sure they couldn't be prosecuted for their part in the cult and kidnapping. Besides that, we don't have to answer anyone in this town or anywhere," Charlie snaps.
"Charlie, what's happened?" Carlisle asks.
"The usual; someone touched her. But Officer King thought it was okay to put his knee into her upper back pinning her to the floor and cuff her. Then put tie wraps on her legs," Charlie answers.
"She might have to go to the hospital this time. I have never seen her this bad," sighs Carlisle.
"No, you're not doing any such thing," Helen growled.
"Dad, just give her something to calm her down," Teddy instructed, with tears streaming down his face.
Carlisle looked through his bag and produced something. He put it in a syringe, checking the amount with Helen. He injected her.
"Where's Bobby?" Sue asks.
"The kitchen with your daughter and her friend," Sam replies. "Can he come out now?"
"Yes, please, he needs to be near Izzy," Helen answers.
"That dog needs to be put to sleep. It's bit a member of the public, it's a dangerous dog," Royce yells.
"Who did he bite?" Charlie asks, knowing they couldn't take Bobby away from Izzy.
"He bit me. I'm not making a complaint to the police, which is my right," Teddy replies. Taking Bobby away from Izzy was not an option for him.
"How bad is the bite son," Carlisle asks.
"I'm up to date with shots. I'll have it looked at as soon as Izzy is feeling better," Teddy stated.
"Are we taking her to your house dad, that way you can monitor her? She shouldn't have to go to the hospital. We are all coming to your house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. She still has her bedroom there," Teddy asks.
"That would be for the best. Then we can discuss her seeing a new therapist here. That's if you think the time is right, Helen," Carlisle answers.
"I'll carry her to my car," Charlie instructed.
"No, I'll take her in her car to my parents," Teddy replied firmly.
"Come back to the station now. Charlie, do you want Royce and Tyler charged?" Mark asked.
"Yes, throw the book at them. I'll take this as far as it can go. I have friends who hold influential positions. They were fond of Izzy, and they will be happy she is still alive," Charlie responded.
Tanya confirmed that she would provide a statement detailing what they had done to Izzy.
Sam chimed in, saying, "I will too."
Before Mark even began writing down names, multiple people volunteered to give accounts of Izzy's mistreatment.
"I didn't recognize her. If I had, I would never have done what we did," Tyler offered.
"That's no excuse; that shouldn't have happened to anyone. You're a disgrace to the badge you wear," Charlie growled.
"Could someone lower the front seat down so she can be more comfortable?" Teddy requested. "Can I have a little help so I can get up with her?"
"Let me. She doesn't seem to weigh that much," Austin offered.
"No, I'll do it. She will just get distressed if she doesn't know you," Seth replies.
He lifted her. "Come on Bobby."
Beau followed Riley to Izzy's car. Riley opened the door and attempted to figure out how to lower the seat.
"This is a nice car. How does the seat go back? Riley asked.
"You press this," Beau informs pressing a button.
Seth laid Izzy into her seat doing her seatbelt.
Throwing his car keys at Beau so he could drive Seth's car to the Cullens. Seth climbed into the back seat with Bobby.
Teddy got in the driver's seat. As he started up the car, the passenger door flew open.
"Now just you wait Teddy. You're not taking her anywhere but home," Charlie growled.
"Charlie, she needs Dad to keep an eye on her. Plus, to be honest, I don't trust you. She told me you are trying to make her return to New York. She doesn't want to go. I'm going to make sure she gets what she wants," Teddy stated.

Izzy rested in her old room at the Cullen's house. Teddy hadn't left her side. His mom brought them both a sandwich and a drink. However, Izzy ate only a little before going back to sleep. Carlisle kept coming in to check on her. Teddy sat beside her bed, watching her sleep as he graded papers with Bobby by his feet.
Carlisle had looked at Teddy's leg. There was a puncture wound and a bruise. Nothing that needed medical treatment. Teddy's jeans had taken most of the damage.
~T&I~
Teddy, Izzy has a visitor. "Can she handle seeing her?" Esme questions, poking her head in.
"I'll ask her. Mom, is her skirt washed and dried?" Teddy questions.
"Yes, I'll fetch it through for her," Esme replies.
"Izzy, wake up sweetheart, you have a visitor," Teddy informs.
"Who is it?" Izzy inquires.
"I'm not sure. Mom doesn't appear to mind her being here. So, I would imagine it must be Angie or Miss Denali," Teddy answers.
"Teddy, where is my skirt?" Izzy asks, raising her eyebrow.
"It got wet and there was dirt sticking to it. So, mom took it off and has washed and dried it for you," Teddy replies.
"Okay, once I'm more decent, I'll see her. My face and back hurt," Izzy informs.
"I'm not surprised. That bastard King knelt on you and pushed your face into the floor. It doesn't look too bad, though" Teddy replies as he takes her face in his hands. That earns him a growl from Bobby.
After getting dressed and sitting on the bed, Esme allows Angie into the room.
"I'll leave you two ladies. I'll be in the kitchen if you want me," Teddy informs.
"Hi, Angie. I'm sorry about earlier. It's just that…," Izzy began.
"Izzy, you have nothing to apologize for. No one knew you were even here. None of us can comprehend what you lived through. It's me who should be apologizing to you," Angie sniffed.
"Come, sit by me. Let's catch up. I'd like to explain why I freak out when people hug me without asking me first," Izzy gestured to the bed.
"Some people in the cult were, shall we say, a bit cruel. When they thought we needed punishment. they would grab us from the front, hog-tie us, and throw us into what they called the punishment block,"
"I'm so sorry Izzy. I couldn't handle what you lived through," Angie sniffled.
"Less of that, now, tell me when your baby is due?" Izzy asks.
"How did you know? We haven't told anyone," Angie asked, shocked.

Soon, they were laughing together, and Angie updated her on the class she used to know. Izzy only gave Angie a bit of information. She was comfortable with the moment.
Angie invited her to participate in the kindergarten art class once a week if she was interested. She also told her how she could help with the set for the Christmas recital. She told her the bad news that Santa wouldn't be coming to the children this year as funding had been cut and there wasn't enough money for gifts.
Angie felt better, and Izzy was glad to have another friend in town.
Thanksgiving, the next day at the Cullens was hectic. For the first time, Izzy met Teddy's nieces and nephews. Of course, Bobby was the primary attention getter for the children and Bobby soaked it all in. That's until Isabella asked about Izzy's hair. Izzy could never remember having barrettes in her hair. By the time the girls had finished, she didn't have any more room in her hair to add any other accessories.
There was an awkward moment when Bella asked Izzy about the scars on her neck.
Seth and Beau were thrilled to sit at the kid's table, where they could eat without Charlie disapproving. The kids loved it as well. They gave Beau all the vegetables they didn't like to eat.
Most of them were in tears when Izzy said she was thankful to be back in Forks with her friends and hoped to recover from what happened to her.

"Do you know what is being built on that plot of land Stanley had prepared? He knocked a lot of the forest down to build on it?" Charlie questions.
"No one knows Charlie. It was said that it was going to be a spa," Carlisle replies. "We do know once they began to investigate Stanley, the building stopped as the planning permission was removed. But someone must have bought it because they have started building on it again."
"Some of the teaching staff were talking about that. Some of our students got into the compound and caused some damage. There is a main building and three or four small buildings. Then there is what looks like it could be some stables," Rose offered.
"You don't think the cult is coming here, do you?" Esme panicked.
"No, it would've hit our radar and we have not heard anything," Sue adds.
"It might be some other company who has brought the land to build the spa. After all the other parts of the forest he had cleared, they built some cabins," Teddy replies.
"Are they for sale or is it something they intend to rent out?" Izzy inquired.
"Emmett says, "No they are for tourists to rent so they can go fishing and hiking."
"I suppose it could be good if the town receives a portion of the money considering the Stanley's used town funds to build them," Esme adds.
"Izzy, could I ask you something?" Emmett says.
"Yes sure," Izzy answers.
"We have a situation at school in the art department. Please don't feel obliged to say yes," Emmett began. "The majority of the football team and cheerleaders had chosen to take art; they considered it an easy subject. Chelsea hasn't taught them anything. We think she might have been inappropriate with them."
"What my husband is trying to say is that if the kids don't hit a certain target with their academic scores, they can't play in the football games that are coming up. The first team is good, but the second team not so much," Rose adds.
Emmett throws her the stink eye, then continues.
"What I'm asking is if you could maybe give them a couple of art lessons, so at least they might hit the target grade so they can play? We are struggling as to what to do." Emmett sighs.
"So, you will have someone who isn't even a teacher to teach my classes? Does the school board know what you are doing?" a harsh voice says.
Everyone turned around to see Chelsea standing in the doorway.
"How dare you let yourself into our home!" Esme stated.
"Why? I've come to spend some time with my boyfriend," she replies.
"This is exactly what I was worried about. You're playing with my daughter's feelings again, Edward. A leopard never changes its spots," Charlie growled.
"What the fuck are you talking about? I'm not your boyfriend, your fuck buddy or anything else. Why are you even here?" Teddy yells.
"Watch your language in front of the children," Alice hisses at Teddy.
With a smile on Izzy's face, "Bobby's good at taking out the trash,"
"Bobby Herd," Teddy instructed.
Everyone began to snigger when Bobby began to bark around Chelsea until he had her out the front door.
