Peeking through the doorway Alex looked down the hallway and into the waiting room, instantly spotting her siblings. They sat with Harper and Juliet, gathered together, sniggering like a gaggle of school children as they listened to their mother chastise their father behind them for his overly emotional state. Alex's eyes rolled and a tut escaped her lips, hunching forward she then continued to scan the area. There was no sign of Mason or the doctor, which came as a huge relief to her and gave her the confidence she needed to tiptoe out of her room.

Conveniently for Alex, a janitor passed by pushing a large cleaning cart. He halted in his track and used his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his brow, the dangling loose thread catching his bushy eyebrows in the process. The hairs on his moustache tickled his top lip, and after scratching it aggressively, he glanced down and saw his laces dragging on the floor. He bent down and stretching over his plump stomach, he lowered himself down. Alex saw this as her chance. Swooping in behind the janitor, she swiped the cart away and tiptoed down the hall, ducking behind the rattling cleaning supplies.

Alex's heart pounded, she winced with every step she took, terrified of the thought of being caught. She felt the tightness of her throat slightly relax when her family left her sight, but Alex still felt the need to hold her breath whenever she passed the nurses scurrying through the corridor. However, as she continued her walk a familiar sensation took a hold of her abdomen.

"Crap," she muttered clasping the carts handle, "crap, crap, crap, crap."

Alex bit her lip as the contraction escalated, her stomach becoming unbearably tight, "should have brought along the freakin' gas!" She peaked upwards over the cleaning supplies and noticing a few curious looks from passersby, she frantically searched around for an escape. A few paces away from where she stood, Alex spotted a door with a sagging sign, and etched into the dry wood was the word 'potions.'

Prising herself from her spot, Alex faltered into the room, slamming the door firmly behind her. She rested against the hard wood of the door, throwing her head back as she whimpered and panted. "Definitely should have brought the gas…"

Alex's eyes clamped shut as she focused on managing the pain, the room was eerily quiet, all she could focus on was the sounds of her own heavy breathing. As time passed, Alex felt her body relax as the contraction ended and she gave a sigh of relief.

Being unable to bring herself to move from her spot, Alex left herself oblivious to her new surroundings. Apart from the obvious dim lighting, she was happy to leave everything else as a mystery. Although, one thing that did capture her attention was a faint bubbling sound coming from the far side of the room. Alex quickly glanced over the room, although quite broad, it was cramped with endless high shelving. Eventually she crept forwards, squeezing in between the narrow walkways as she stared in awe at the shelves of endless potion bottles and ingredients.

An array of colours filled the shelves, each bottle arranged in a specific order creating a rainbow of liquids and other ingredients. As Alex walked on the bubbling increased, along with a high-pitched whistle. It grew and grew, and Alex wasn't afraid to admit to herself she felt uneasy continuing her investigation alone. But a neon light of purple drew her in, the dazzling light sparkled and glittered into orbit from within a small cauldron. As Alex got closer, she witnessed the luminous purple liquid boiling upon an old stove. The bubbles popped and rose frantically, the steam erupting from the pot as the liquid whistled whilst the flame burned slowly beneath it.

Alex watched fascinated, the lavender scent intoxicating her as it brought her closer to the counter. Beside the pot, a small vial with a note attached caught her attention. Across the tattered bit of paper the words 'Alex Russo' were scribbled upon it. Then realisation hit Alex, "this is my potion?"

She picked up her vial and examined it closely, the cold glass delicately resting between her thumb and index finger. Alex then suddenly paused in thought, as she heard the sound of something rolling on the counter. She searched the surface, and soon enough spotted another vial resting next to an open notebook. It was even smaller in comparison to hers, although, it also came with a similar note attached. Alex's eyes narrowed as she read, 'Baby Russo.'

"My baby needs the potion too?" An unsettling feeling arose in her stomach, "why has no one mentioned that?"

Alex began to frantically scour the pages of the book next to her, skimming through the text, nothing she read made sense to her;

'A surge of powers leading to low body temp and breathing difficulties.'

'A low birth weight.'

'Failure to thrive.'

'Increased risk of weakness and illness in the mother.'

"Oh hell no," Alex snapped slamming the textbook shut, "not happening."

She continued to investigate, sending the potions bottles clattering into each other as she snooped around the shelves. Hunching herself over, she skimmed the cupboards underneath yanking the doors open as she scurried along the floor. Alex grimaced at the traces of dirt lingering next the potion bottles, she cautiously pulled each one forward in hope of avoiding the clusters of dust flying towards her.

"Come on! There has to be something-"

Rushing over to the next cupboard, Alex came to a sudden halt as a cold object lightly clanged into her head. Slowly she peeked upwards and above her a shining gold object hung on a slanted hook. Using the counter next to her for support, Alex pulled herself up and began to examine the object that balanced delicately.

A helmet shrouded in gold metal, resembling that of a medieval knight. Alex stared curiously, spotting her own reflection in the clear visor she ran her finger along the sharp comb resting on the top before stepping forward to clutch the helmet. As she lifted the helmet from its resting place, Alex noticed a large rigid dial latent on the side.

Realisation hit her, "An IPP?" Alex inspected closely, the heavy metal stinging her hands as they held on to the cold surface, "Why is this here?" She tilted the object and observed the dial. The fine dark lettering and numbers swirled around the bronze dial, Alex delicately rotated it and strained as she read the lettering.

"Florida, USA. Brooklyn, New York." Alex released a puff of air from her lips, "boring!" She paused in contemplation, "Let me try this," using her full hand she rapidly spun the dial, sending the words whirling around crazily. "Brazil, London, Germany. Transylvania, Romania. Uh, no thank you!" She halted the dial, "No, I think I need to go the other way…"

Softly she reversed the dial and watched intently at the words forming in front of her. "Germany, London, Brazil…" Alex's lips curled upwards, "Costa Rica."

Alex gave a mighty push as she lifted the helmet on to her head, "if you need a job doing, it's best doing it yourself." Using the palm of her hand, she violently slapped the dial. Alex felt suddenly heavy as the sensation of pressure began to surround and gradually build up inside her. Bit by bit a tingling sensation flowed through her veins, Alex looked down at the floor and watched as she disintegrated from the bottom up before completely vanishing from her spot.

Using her arm to forcefully force the door open, Harper sauntered in the hospital room wavering around a cup of crushed ice. "Alex, I got more ice chips!" She called cheerily dumping the cup on to the bedside table. Theresa followed her in and sniggered to herself as she watched Harper perch herself comfortably on Alex's hospital bed. "Come and get it before it melts, I don't want to see you waste them again!"

The room was eerily quiet, "where is she?" Theresa asked glancing around.

Harper prized the tube from the gas tank and tapped it lightly against her nails, contemplating giving in to the temptation of giving it a try. She shrugged her shoulders in reply to Mrs Russo's question, "not sure. Could she be in the bathroom? I think I heard the nurse who brought her the gas tell her that sitting on the toilet helps labour faster."

Theresa gave a small nod, "of course! And I bet Mason is in there with her. He wouldn't leave her on her own!"

Speedy footsteps approached the door, and as they entered the room Theresa watched as Harper's brows knitted together and her smile disappear from her face. She span around, in the doorway Mason stood with Doctor Butcher next to him. His chest pumped as he breathed heavily, panting as he spoke, "is she ok? I've tried to be as quick as I could."

"What are you talking about?" Theresa heard Harper grumble as she placed the gas tube between her lips.

Theresa stared in a daze, feeling her mouth becoming dry as her heartbeat steadily increased, "why aren't you with Alex?"

"She was showing signs of changing again," Mason began to explain pausing briefly to gulp for air, "so I went to get Doctor Butcher."

"And now," the Doctor started as she paraded into the room with her clipboard perched in her hands, "one of my lovely nurses is bringing the potion, now it's finally ready. So, where is she?"

Theresa stared blankly at Mason, "we thought she was with you?"

Mason's nose crinkled, and he looked past Theresa at the closed bathroom door. "Isn't she in the toilet?" He strode over and wrapped his knuckle on the door, the room was silent except for the aggressive knocks being made by Mason.

"We thought this too," Harper announced placing the gas on to the bed beside her, "but we thought you were in there too…"

"Me?" Mason's face scrunched as he knocked again.

"Yeah, apparently sitting on the toilet helps with labour? We thought you guys were giving it a try…"

Mason ignored Harper's comment and continued to hammer his fist at the wood, "Alex, are you in there love?" He listened intently for a reply but there was no answer. Sick of waiting, he vigorously turned the knob and forced himself in.

Everyone waited as they listened to him rummage around in the bathroom, banging around as he clattered into various objects and furniture before rushing back out of the door. "She's not here."

"Well where could she be?" Mrs Russo squealed as she clamped her hand on to the side of her face.

"Okay, let's just take a minute to calm down," the Doctor began. Along with Mason and Harper, Theresa stared at her doe eyed as she continued to speak. "This is a hospital, sure we see some freaky stuff here, but it will be nearly impossible for a labouring mother to leave without someone noticing. Especially, if she happens to be a werewolf…"

"But what now?" Mason stumbled, "what if she has changed, will she be ok?"

"Let's not jump to that conclusion! You said she was showing signs of changing, that doesn't necessarily mean she would have. She's been showing signs for a couple of days now. She's probably with her dad, or her brothers."

Mason's chest fell as he exhaled, relief melting from him. Though, his stomach soon twisted as Harper leapt from the bed, "we've just been with them!" She announced, "she wasn't there!"

The doctor's face faltered, "okay, once again let's not panic…"

A soft knock echoed from the door, everyone span around only to be met with a nurse standing in the doorway. Small in stature, she clutched a large vial of a bubbling purple liquid. The brightness from the ceiling light became caught in the potion, highlighting the sparkling pigments of violet floating in the glass. The nurse meekly waved before clutching her mouse brown locks and twiddling them in between her trembling fingers.

"Hello Doctor," she spoke softly, "I have the potion for Miss Russo. But I also need to talk to you…"

"Not now Janice, I have something to deal with."

"But mam," she squeaked as he eyes doubled in size, "it's very, very important."

"More important than a missing patient?"

The nurse let out a piercing gasp before shoving a handful of hair into her mouth. Edging closer to her colleague the Doctor's eyes narrowed, "Janice?"

With her tongue fumbling between her lips as she spat the stands of hair out of her mouth, Janice shuffled into the room. "Well, I went to get the potion for Miss Russo," she began mumbling as she stared at her feet, "and I noticed the Inter-Wizard People Porter we use to get foreign ingredients was gone."

The clipboard clattered from Doctor Butcher's hands onto the hard floor. "I'm sorry," Theresa scowled, "a what?"

"An Inter-Wizard People Porter," the Doctor grumbled, "it can transport wizards to anywhere in the world…"

Harper's jaw dropped, "The I.P.P!"

"The what?" Theresa huffed loudly, "I don't understand this wizard stuff, I have no idea what you guys are talking about! An I.C what?" She ran her fingers through the roots of her hair, "I need Jerry, I can't understand any of this! Jerry!" She exclaimed scampering from the room.

The waiting area was calm, Jerry sat with his two sons and Juliet each with their faces buried into a book. Licking his finger, Jerry delicately turned the tattered page and inched his face closer to the text as he absorbed every word.

"Jerry!"

The panic in his wife's voice rang in his ears like an alarm, Jerry launched the book on to the coffee table and leapt to his feet. He soon found himself rushing towards his wife as she entered the room, her face flushed as her eyes glistened with new tears. "Theresa, what's wrong?"

"Alex is missing…"

Tears sprang from Theresa's eyes and trickled down her cheeks, and Jerry felt his lip dither at the sight, "what?"

"Dad, what's wrong?" Justin approached his father whilst Max bolted over to his mother and wrapped her in his embrace.

"Alex is missing?"

Justin's eyebrows shot upwards, "what?"

Jerry turned back to his wife, "where would she go?"

The sight of Mason entering the room caused Justin to clench his jaw, he stormed over to the werewolf and forcefully prodded his chest, "why wasn't you with her?" He hissed.

"I went to get the Doctor," Mason spat back, "anyway I'm not the only one responsible for Alex."

"Considering you're the one responsible for her being in this situation, I think it's only fair you take charge of her care."

Rage burned in Mason's eyes, he opened his mouth to speak but was soon halted when Harper appeared in between him and Justin, "guys!" She gasped, "we need to stick together for Alex!"

"And what?" Justin laughed mockingly, "do we even know how long she's been gone or where she would go?"

Doctor Butcher edged closer to the family as she entered through the doorway, "Actually Professor, I might have a lead…"

"Go on…"

The whole family huddled closer as Doctor Butcher cleared her voice to speak. "Inter-Wizard People Porter is missing."

Justin and Jerry both groaned as they simultaneously felt their hearts drop from their chest.

"What is that Jerry?" Theresa asked her husband as she clutched on to him desperately, "I don't know what that means!"

"An Inter-Wizard People Porter can teleport a Wizard, or mortal, anywhere in the world." Justin explained through gritted teeth, but his mother stared blankly.

"And what does that have to do with Alex? You Don't think-"

"But what's the point in one of those?" Mason questioned, "it's pointless! Wizards can flash anywhere."

"Not if they don't have any powers…"

"My nurse has checked the last-named location on the tracker," the Doctor continued, "and the system said the last person who used it is currently in Costa Rica. Alex wouldn't risk travelling there, would she?"

Justin collapsed on to a chair with his head in his hands, "it's Alex. Believe me, she would."

"My poor baby!" Theresa cried, "pregnant, alone and in labour! Anything could happen to her!"

"Honey she'll be ok," Jerry comforted his wife as he walked over to her and embraced her in a warm hug. "Alex is smarter than what we give her credit for, she'll be ok. Besides for all we know it's not even her who's used the I.P.P. She could walk through that door at any minute!"

"Yeah, Alex wouldn't be that reckless!" The Doctor chuckled lightly.

Justin looked up at her sternly, "Doctor Butcher, this is Alex we're talking about. Reckless is basically her middle name…"
