Max was very nervous at this upcoming school dance tonight. Though he was grateful that he had a date for this dance and even more grateful that his date was his dream girl Lisa, he was very worried about it. Before this one, Max did go to school dances but he always went without a date. Every time he went, he always hoped that at least there would be some girls without a date available. And there were, but still none of them want to give him a chance to dance with them. Now that he actually had a date for this school date for the first time in his whole life, he never thought he would ever be more worried about having a date than he was without a date.
"Gwarsh!" Goofy cried, as he parked his car in front of Lisa's place. "You never told me your girlfriend lived in a beautiful mansion."
"Lisa's not my girlfriend, Dad," Max said, who was wearing his smartest black suit and his black shoes. Not yet, I hope, he thought in his head. "She's just one of my very best friends."
But Goofy was right about Lisa's mansion. It was beautiful as it was vast and so was the massive gardens around it which had tall trees, fat bushes, beautiful flowers and cool green grass that could be mistaken for jungles and plenty of expensive cars on the massive driveway with a massive fountain.
Then Max got out of Goofy's car and approached the gate. He was about to press the intercom button when –
"Don't bother with the intercom, Max. I'm already out."
Max turned to his right and he was both surprised and delighted when he saw Lisa. She looked very beautiful in her strapless light green dress and light green shoes and diamond earrings on her ears.
"Wow, Lisa," he said. "You look very beautiful."
"Thanks, Max," she said. "And you look very handsome."
"Thanks," he said. "But why are you waiting outside?"
As they walked to Goofy's car, Lisa told Max that her parents were very snobbish as they were very rich and only wanted to associate with wealthy people. They would not give any middle or working class people a chance, not even if their lives or careers depended on it. So, when they asked why she was getting ready for tonight, she lied to them by telling them she was invited to a party for the super wealthy and she would go on behalf of her family. Her lie worked enough for her parents to let her leave the mansion tonight. If they ever saw Max, they would send him away and neither he nor Lisa would be able to go to the school dance.
Max and Lisa finally reached Goofy's car and got in.
"Lisa, this is my dad," Max said.
"Hiya, Miss Lisa," Goofy said, offering his hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Goof," Lisa said, shaking his hand.
Then Goofy started his car again and started to drive to the school.
"I heard a lot about ya, Miss Lisa," Goofy said. "Max always speaks very highly of ya."
"Dad," Max said, starting to feel very embarrassed.
"Aw, that's so sweet," Lisa said.
Max started to very more relaxed now that she said that.
"And he always speaks very highly of you too," Lisa said.
"Aww, shucks," Goofy said.
Then they finally arrived at Spoonerville High School.
"Have fun, kids," Goofy said, as Max and Lisa got out of his car. "And remember, don't drink too many sodas or you'll get sick and –"
"Dad!" Max snapped gently. "We're not seven years old. We know how to handle a school dance."
"Well, okay, then," Goofy said. "I'll pick up at ten." Then he drove off.
"Well, shall we, Max?" Lisa held out her arm for Max to take.
It was now or never so Max smiled and took Lisa's arm. "Yeah, let's do it."
Then they happily walked into the school.
Max and Lisa had a great time at the school dance in the school gym. Max was worried at first. He remembered that he danced with Lisa at the ski resort hotel on the last night of the school ski trip and he impressed Lisa a whole lot, but he kept worrying if he wouldn't impress her with the same dance moves or the new dance moves he had been trying for this school dance. Luckily, Lisa was very impressed with all of Max's dance moves, both the ones she had seen before and the new ones she hadn't see yet. And Lisa also impressed Max with her own dance moves. She was so good at dancing she could join Powerline's backup dancers.
Not only did Max and Lisa have fun dancing with the two of them, but they even danced with their friends. Bobby, wearing a light blue suit with black shoes, was with Stacey, wearing a pink dress with pink shoes. PJ, wearing his navy suit with black shoes, was with Chloe, wearing a purple dress with purple shoes.
Then after dancing a lot and getting some delicious party food and tasty drinks together, Max and Lisa soon got tired and felt they couldn't dance anymore. They thought they felt how Powerline felt after every awesome live show he performed. They went outside the school to get some fresh air and sat down on the school benches.
"Great night, eh, Max?" Lisa asked.
"Definitely," agreed Max. "This has been one of the very best nights of my whole life."
"Likewise," Lisa said. "Hey, Max, I've been thinking."
"What about?" Max asked.
"You have been a really great friend," Lisa said. "And the more I spend with you, the more I learn about you and from you and the more I like you."
"Thanks, Lisa," Max said. "And I feel the same about you. The more I spend with you, the more I learn about you and from you and the more I like you too."
"Thanks, Max," Lisa said. "So ever since we became friends and been spending time together, I've been thinking if you ever wanted to be more than just friends."
Max liked where this was going, but he still decided to play it cool instead of jumping to conclusions, no matter how tempting it was. "Lisa, are you asking –"
"Yeah, Max. Do you want to be my next boyfriend?"
Max couldn't believe it.
"I would be very honored to be your girlfriend," Lisa went on.
Max thought about for a few seconds and then he said, "Yes, Lisa. I'd be delighted to start a relationship with you."
Lisa was delighted to hear that. "Me too, Max!" she screamed happily.
Then they hugged and then they put their hands on each other's faces and pressed their lips together. They quickly realized what they were doing, but they both liked it and it felt right to both of them, so they kept on kissing.
