One Friday afternoon, Max and Lisa were walking home after another very busy week at school.
"So you got any plans for the weekend, Lisa?" Max asked.
Lisa sighed. "Yeah. It'll be my eighteenth birthday tomorrow."
"You don't sound too excited about it," Max said.
"That's because I'm not, Max." Then Lisa explained why. Every year, her parents would throw her a massive party at their mansion when it was her birthday and people would come to celebrate it. Some of those people were her other family members including her uncles, her aunts, her grandparents, her cousins and her older, 'overachieving' brothers and their beautiful girlfriends and her 'perfect' nephews and nieces and the others were friends. By 'friends', Lisa meant the friends of her family and not her own. Her parents wouldn't even let her invite her best friend Chloe to come her birthday party. Another reason she didn't enjoy her birthday parties was because they were less about her birthday and more like for her parents to show what great parents they were to her in front of her other family members and their friends.
"So if all of that's happening tomorrow," Max said, "what are you doing on Sunday, the day after?"
"Nothing," Lisa replied. "Everyone will be too tired from 'the fun' from the party. And I can't do anything with Chloe on Sunday either because she's visiting some relatives."
Then Max had an idea. "Well, then, do you want to do something on Sunday? With me? I don't have work on Sunday. My boss has told me I need to take some time off. If you say yes to Sunday, I promise we'll do whatever your most favorite thing is."
Lisa thought about it for a few seconds and then she smiled. "That's a great idea, Max. Okay, meet me outside my house on Sunday morning. The very earliest as you can."
"Okay, then, I will," Max promised.
Then they reached Max's house. They kissed each other on the lips and then they waved to each other as Max headed into his house and Lisa continued to head to her mansion.
Max arrived very early at Lisa's place on Sunday morning as he promised. It was still sunrise. Then he saw the mansion's gates open and out came Lisa, but she wasn't alone. She was on a tall, strong black horse and was pulling the reins of a tall, strong brown horse beside her. She wasn't wearing any riding clothes; she was wearing her usual cropped black shirt, ripped blue jeans and black shoes. She didn't even wear a horse riding hat. Max also noticed there was a basket on Lisa's legs. It looked like a picnic basket.
"Hi, Max," Lisa greeted. "I'd like to meet Sean and Jenny."
Max was amazed. "Wow! You named your two horses after Powerline's song?"
"Correct. Now, come on. Get on Sean."
Max looked at Sean who was the brown horse behind Lisa and Jenny the black horse. He was very nervous because he had never ridden a horse before, but still this was his girlfriend's favorite thing to do in the whole wide world so he had to go through with it otherwise the girl of his dreams would only move on from him and get another boyfriend, which he didn't want to happen. So he got onto Sean the horse and he and Lisa rode her horses as they headed off to the countryside of Spoonerville.
Max struggled a bit with Sean at first, but Lisa patiently helped him by giving him some tips on how to control Sean or how to comfort or praise him. And Lisa's advice worked and Max soon felt he had Sean under his control. That was until they finally reached the countryside of Spoonerville. That was when Sean, for some strange reason, started to behave very wild and run off. Max remembered all Lisa taught him about controlling horses and tried to control Sean with them, but it wasn't working.
"Whoa, Sean! Whoa!"
But that didn't help either.
Sean did stop when they came to the edge of Spoonerville Lake, but that was no better because the horse stopped so suddenly that it caused Max to fall off him and into the lake.
Max reached the surface of the lake and took off his red t-shirt.
"Max! Are you okay?"
Max turned to see Lisa was at the edge of the lake and she was offering her hand to help him out, which he gladly accepted.
"I am so sorry about that, Max," Lisa said, as she helped him out. "Sean can be quite naughty, but he's never been this naughty."
"That's all right, Lisa," Max said.
Lisa got out a yellow towel from her picnic basket and gave it to Max to dry himself. While he dried himself, he saw Lisa set the horses down to rest and then set up the picnic blanket and the picnic food. Then they both sat down and ate the delicious picnic food that Lisa made herself.
The picnic food included apples, bananas, grapes, salads, cheese sandwiches, potato chips, a chocolate cake and homemade lemonade. There were some carrots for Lisa's horses. All of it was delicious and Spoonerville Lake was the perfect place for a picnic and today being a very warm and sunny day today made it so much better.
As they ate, Max asked her about her eighteenth birthday party yesterday. She told them it was the same as ever; the food was delicious and she was grateful for her presents and her birthday cake, but her parents and all the guests ignored her most of the time and she felt very lonely. And that was why Max being here with her and her two horses made today ten times better than yesterday. And Max felt very happy that he was making his very special girlfriend happy too.
"Come on, Max," Lisa said, taking off her black cropped shirt, revealing a white bikini top.
"Where are we going now, Lisa?" Max asked.
"Well, it's a lovely warm day," Lisa said, as she took off her black shoes and her ripped blue jeans, revealing a white bikini thong. "I need a cool down in the lake and so does Sean and Jenny."
Max liked where this was going. He took off his blue pants, white socks and brown shoes, revealing his green swim shorts. Then he and Lisa got back on the horses, but this time he had Jenny and she had Sean and they took the horses for a swim into the lake.
After a very enjoyable hour of swimming with the horses, Max and Lisa took the horses back to the land for a rest and then they went back into the lake for a wonderful romantic swim.
"Max?" Lisa said as she wrapped her arms behind his neck and wrapped her legs around his swim shorts.
"Yeah, Lisa?"
"I just want to say that today has been one of the very best days of my whole life. Everything has been great today – the horse riding in the countryside – except when Sean threw you into the lake – the delicious picnic and now this lovely swim. But the best part of all of today is sharing it with you, Max."
Max smiled. "Thanks for saying that, Lisa. And thanks for letting me come with you today. Experiencing all of this with you has been the best part of all of this for me as well."
"Thanks, Max."
Then they kissed each other and continued to enjoy their romantic swim.
Soon, the sun was starting to set and it was time for everyone to go home. So Max and Lisa went back to the land, dried themselves, put their clothes back on, got back on the horses and then they headed back to Spoonerville.
"Thank you so much once again for a lovely day today, Max," said Lisa, who was riding Sean.
"You're very welcome, Lisa," said Max, who was riding Jenny. "And thank you so much once again for inviting me."
"No problem. You made my birthday weekend a great one. In fact, I think it's my very first best one yet. No one's ever done what we did today with me before. I've always had to do this all on my own."
"You never did this with Chad? Before you found out what he did to you, I mean?"
"No. And now that I know what he did to me, I'm very glad I never did what I did with you today with him at all and I'm very glad I did it with you instead."
Max was very happy to hear that. He still couldn't believe that not only was his dream girl now his girlfriend, but she was very happy in their relationship as much as he was. It still felt like it was a dream but he was glad that this was a reality.
Soon, Max and Lisa arrived at her mansion. Max got off Jenny and approached Lisa. They kissed each other on the lips and wished each other a good night. After the mansion gates opened, Lisa went in with her horses and Max headed back to his house.
