Chapter 4
Lightwing
Jack was alone in this world... Not literally of course, but he hadn't seen any sign of his friends yet, could they be in the more present events? Have they already met him yet? Or could they have died?
Hopefully he wouldn't die while enacting his brilliant plan to end the war between NightWings and IceWings whilst in the Ice Kingdom itself.
Of course... there was a way to get to the present day, but it would massively suck for him.
"Alright! Listen up you little hatchlings! Our spies have seen that Queen Diamond of the IceWings 'erselfwill be fighting in this battle, so the first dragon to kill 'er will instantly be invited to Queen Vigilance's party tomorrow evening," General Betelgeuse roared at the warriors in front of him. Lightwing had once joked that saying Betelgeuse's name three times in row would make bad things happen; the general was not amused, nor did he understand the joke.
All the NightWings around him stayed silent as General Betelgeuse continued speaking, they all kept their heads up as if being presented to Queen Vigilance herself. "So... 'her's what we're going to do; we're going to go out into Queen Scorpion's desert and kill any an' all IceWings we find... IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?" the general continued.
"UNDERSTOOD!" All the NightWings shouted in unison.
"THEN WE FLY!" General Betelgeuse roared and took flight out of the nonexistent ceiling and towards the Kingdom of Sand.
As the NightWing army flew into the desert, they eventually saw an encampment of IceWings trying to keep cool in the hot desert, and isolated from everyone else sat Queen Diamond and her shiny crown. Lightwing wondered if it was the crown that she enchanted to make every IceWing queen who wore it hate NightWings with a burning passion.
The armada of NightWings swerved down to land in the sand, it was certainly hot today.
"Well, well, well, it looks like my dragons lucked out and got the chance to fight the legendary Queen Diamond," General Betelgeuse.
Both tribes held their ground and didn't attack until a NightWing shot fire at an IceWing, which triggered the battle itself.
Lots of dragons died on both sides, Lightwing even contributing to the IceWing corpses by blasting fire in multiple directions, a trick that he'd learnt while training.
Soon the NightWings were outmatched and outnumbered and they were down to only a few dragons from the Kingdom of Night alive, Queen Diamond was merciless, not even allowing retreat, and then Lightwing was the only NightWing standing on the other end of the battlefield with General Betelgeuse coughing up blood onto his talons.
"Lightwing, fly while you can, you may just get out of here alive," Betelgeuse pleaded to him. "You cannot win this by yourself."
Lightwing saw the IceWings turn to look at the last standing enemy, and some even murmured in astonishment of how he hasn't flown away. He leaned in close to the general and whispered the last words that he'd ever hear. "I was never here to win, or get some stupid invitation to the queen's party," he said.
"But- you can't!" the general pleaded again.
Lightwing sucked in his breath as he stood back up again. "Don't believe me, just watch," he told the general right before blasting him with frostbreath, killing the very last NightWing and being alone against around twenty-five IceWings.
Lightwing looked back up to the IceWings when lightning struck in between them.
He heard one of the IceWings complaining that they weren't going to fight in a thunderstorm, let alone a NightWing with frostbreath abilities.
"This is no thunderstorm; it's a thunder BATTLE!" Lightwing roared and blew out a small plume of fire just to prove that he could.
There are 206 bones in the human body. 207 if I'm watching Gossip Girl... Here we go, maximum effort!
Jack spread his wings to reveal that he had IceWing blood in his veins as rain started to pour onto his scales. "You know how long I've been waiting for this? Seven! Whole! Years!" he announced to the IceWings, who had started to back away from him, only a select few of the IceWings were brave enough to pick a fight with Captain Jack Sparrow, which of course included Queen Diamond herself.
Lightwing took out a hidden dagger from the pouch he'd been wearing around his neck ever since he joined the NightWing army. IceWing after IceWing, they nearly all fell to the ground as corpses instead of unconscious dragons, he also used both his fire and frostbreath to confuse his enemies.
He easily dodged most of the attacks that the IceWings threw at him, Diamond must be impressed since she wasn't using her magic on him, he saw lightning strike a dragon that was trying to shoot their frostbreath at him, all the while Lightwing was smiling like it was the happiest moment of his life.
He shot fire at an IceWing that was baring her teeth with her claws reaching toward him.
Lightwing saw Queen Diamond across the battlefield and smiled at her. "I am by far the greatest warrior you will ever see in your entire life!" he exclaimed to the IceWing queen, trying to inspire her to simply capture and not kill him.
They were down to five IceWings left when Lightwing was hit in the back of the head and his vision went black, his plan worked, that was all that mattered now. He had successfully infiltrated the Ice Kingdom.
