The next morning Skye woke up to a knock on her bedroom door.
"What?" she groaned.
Steve went in with a smile. "Sorry to wake you, but I want to talk to you before breakfast."
Skye rubbed at her eyes waking herself up. "Oh?"
"Well, I've been told you might have known something was going to happen last night," Steve said.
Skye smiled and sat up. "Like what?"
"Bucky proposed," Steve said.
Skye squeed and hugged her dad.
Steve hugged her. "And how was your date?"
"It was really good. But it didn't end in a proposal," Skye said.
"It better not have," Steve said with a chuckle.
Skye took her dad's left hand and looked at the ring on his finger. "Simple. I like it."
Steve didn't try and stop her from looking. "I just want to make sure you are okay with this."
"Of course I am," Skye said letting his hand go. "Bucky is great. And he makes you happy."
"That he does," Steve said with a smile.
"Have you told anyone else?" Skye asked.
"No, I wanted you to be the first to know. Although you already did, right?" Steve asked.
"I knew he was going to ask," Skye said. "He told me as a way to get me out of my head a few nights ago."
Steve nodded. "When you couldn't sleep."
"He told you?" Skye asked nervously.
"Yes. I'm not upset with you, Skye. I'm proud of you for making the right choice," Steve said.
Skye smiled.
Steve wrapped her in a tight hug and kissed her head. "I'm very proud of you."
Skye hugged him. "And I am really happy for you, Daddy."
"Thank you, peanut," Steve said as they broke the hug. "I have also been told you were going to get more testing done after your date, did you?"
"No. Dr. Banner doesn't think it's necessary to put me through the tests again if I'm feeling fine. I promised him, and I promise, you if I feel off I will tell him," Skye said.
Steve let out a breath.
"That's what Dr. Banner said. You can ask him," Skye said.
"I believe you, Skye, I'm just worried about you," Steve said.
"Dad, I still think Loki is lying. I don't know the end game. But I think he is lying," Skye said.
Steve nodded. "Okay. Well, I trust you to tell Bruce and me if there is an issue."
"I will," Skye said.
"Good. Now a big breakfast is being made. So time to get up," Steve said as he got up.
Skye chuckled and nodded. "Hey, Dad, I have a question."
"Yes?" Steve asked.
"Am I allowed to go out on a date on a weeknight?" Skye asked.
"I'm guessing you mean a school night?" Steve asked.
"Yes," Skye said.
"As long as your homework is done, you are back by ten, and I know where you are, it's fine," Steve said.
"Okay, thank you," Skye said with a smile.
"Of course," Steve said before he left her room.
Skye got up and went to the kitchen. "Can I help with anything?"
"You can help me with the table," Nat said.
Skye smiled and helped her set the table. Once everything was on the table everyone sat down and food was passed around.
Yelena's eyes landed on the new piece of jewelry on Steve's finger. "Um, something you want to share with the group, Steve Rogers?"
"What?" Nat asked looking at her sister.
Steve smiled at Bucky.
"Well, we were going to wait until after breakfast, but," Bucky started.
"We got engaged last night," Steve said, holding up his hand for everyone to see.
Everyone congratulated the two.
"Skye, you didn't seem too surprised," Nat said
"I told her already," Steve said.
"And Bucky had told me he was going to," Skye said.
"Oh, so you knew before," Nat said with a smile.
"Yes, I did," Skye said with a smile.
"So, when is the big day?" Pepper asked.
"No date yet," Bucky said with a smile.
"And we are not doing anything big," Steve said.
Everyone smiled and nodded.
When breakfast was done Skye started to help clean up.
"You got the tests you agreed to done?" Bucky asked.
Skye took a breath and looked at Bruce who was still in the room.
"I don't think it's necessary for her to undergo the testing when she is not in any pain and healthy," Bruce said.
Bucky nodded slowly.
"She has promised if she starts to feel off, she will tell me," Bruce said.
Skye nodded. "I did and I will."
"Okay," Bucky said.
"And I am going to go for a run," Skye said before she went to her room and changed and went for a run.
