Everyone was sitting around the table eating on Thanksgiving. It was the first time they had everyone together since the baby was born. Thor and Loki were back for it and they had a few extra people this year with Carol, as well as Dr. Strange and America.
Skye and Loki had been able to talk and Skye apologized and told him that while she did believe what she had been told his brother had done she could understand why it was hard for him to believe and that she would never hold against him anything his brother had done and the two were able to be around each other.
Bucky was holding the baby giving Tony and Pepper a chance to enjoy their food as it had been hard for both of them to eat and the baby seemed to really like Bucky.
"Baby looks good on you," Nat said to Bucky.
Bucky chuckled.
"Well, I guess it's good. Since we will be having a baby soon," Steve said looking at him and smiling.
"Yes, it is," Bucky said smiling back at his husband.
"What?" Nat asked as everyone looked between Steve and Bucky.
"We decided it was time for us to expand our family. We asked a friend to carry our child and she is pregnant," Steve said.
"Oh my god! That is amazing," Nat said.
Everyone agreed and congratulated them.
"Who?" Wanda asked.
Steve and Bucky looked over at Carol who was smiling.
"It's me," Carol said.
"That's what you three have been discussing," Pepper said.
"Yes," Steve said.
"Why did you wait so long to tell us?" Nat asked.
"Well, we asked her and gave her a chance to decide. When she agreed it was when we thought there might be a mole in the compound and we didn't want to put her at risk," Steve said.
"And then it got close to Tony and Pepper having their baby. And we didn't want to risk overshadowing that," Bucky said. "And we decided to wait until we were sure it took and she got pregnant."
Tucker looked at Skye, "did you know?"
"I did," Skye said with a smile. "I've known for a while. But was not my news to share."
"We asked her not to tell anyone as well," Steve said.
"To be fair I found out before you told me," Skye said.
"Yes, but we didn't know that until after we told you," Bucky said.
"Yes. I figured I should wait until you told me," Skye said.
"You excited to be a big sister?" Yelena asked.
"Yeah," Skye said.
"You'll probably have to get used to holding a baby before then," Lila teased a little.
Skye let out a forced chuckle and felt a gentle squeeze on her leg in support from Tucker. There was a story behind why Skye didn't like holding babies and Tucker knew that reason and he had a feeling he was the only one that knew.
"Not everyone is comfortable with holding a newborn. Leave her alone Lila," Laura told her daughter. She could tell the other girl was uncomfortable.
"Right, who wants dessert? Yelena asked getting up to go start cutting up the pies she and Skye had made.
Skye and Nat got up to help her and a few of the others got up to start clearing the table of dinner dishes.
Tony looked at Bucky who was sitting because he had the baby who was asleep in his arms. "Never pegged you as a baby person."
Bucky shrugged.
"It's always the people you least expect that are good with babies," Sam said with a smirk.
"I grew up with younger siblings Samual," Bucky said.
"Yeah, one of the reasons I feel for him was the way he was with his younger siblings," Steve said.
Bucky smirked. "maybe that was my plan."
Everyone chuckled at that.
Dessert was handed out to everyone as they all sat back at the table.
After dessert, everyone went separate ways in the compound. Skye, Tucker, America, and Lila went to Skye's room.
Skye and Tucker sat in her window seat. America and Lila sat on Skye's bed.
"Did I step on something?" Lila asked.
Skye let out a breath and Tucker wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"Not something I want to talk about," Skye said.
Lila nodded.
The subject was changed and they talked until they were called to come watch a movie.
