07/18/2656- Turian Colony Celebrates the Raising of its First Regiment
"Today, the young turian colony Versarin celebrates the raising of 1st Versarin Mechanized Infantry, the first and only Regiment so far raised by the colony for the Hierarchy Armed Forces. A world on the outskirts of the Echoing Stars, Versarin was noted as a promising colonization opportunity by the Hierarchy Exploration and Colonization Authority upon its discovery 120 years ago due to its verdant detox amino acid ecosystem. However, the world saw little interest from investors due to the Echoing Stars' location near to the Terminus Systems and the high level of hostile activity within the Cluster. Fifty years ago, a small colonization collective gained approval from the Hierarchy, who claimed the World due to its dextro nature, to colonize the planet. The small ten thousand strong colony struggled to survive and grow in the hostile environment, repeatedly having to fend off attacks with little support due to their distance from the Hierarchy, and its trade constantly harassed by pirates. Nonetheless, the colony grew through people migrating to it from Hierarchy space, until the point that the world now holds a population of over 100 thousand, ten times the population it started with only a half century ago. The plans for the creation of the 1st Versarin Guard began over five years ago. Earlier today the Primarch of Veersarin gave the first Colonel of the Regiment the Regimental Banner in a ceremony that included a parade with the entire 1st Battalion of the Regiment. The Regiment is currently understrength, with only the 1st and 2nd Battalions fully trained and equipped, with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, residing at varying levels of completion. However, it is expected the Regiment will reach full strength by year's end."
