10/2/2656- Sunuvral Republic Invades The Union, Siege of Opponaru Begins

"Today, a Sunuvral Republic task force struck the Union controlled world of Opponaru within the same system as Sunuvral. Opponaru is a small terrestrial world once controlled by several Sunuvral nation-states over a hundred years ago, its rich mines supply the garden world's industry with plentiful resources. Much of the planet's population are descended from Sunuvral immigrants, though the number has lowered over the years since both of their capture by the Union. The planet's few orbital defenses were quickly destroyed or captured by Republic naval forces, before the invasion force was deployed aboard a number of converted civilian transports and a few captured assault landers. No information is currently known about the invasion's specifics, but Republic officials have stated in a press conference that the operation is going well."
