Chapter 13- New York
Philip's POV
Amy wakes her sister up early the next morning. I make everyone blueberry pancakes for breakfast. We have a quick meal, then Amy helps Andrea get ready.
"What is going on?" Andrea asks her sister. She obviously senses something is going on.
"You should have some idea," Amy says with a smile on her face. I know she is probably wondering what type of surprise will happen today. After the Taylor Swift concert, Andrea knows I am trying hard to end her sadness. They take a little over an hour to get dressed. Hair, makeup, nails, and all the girl things take time. I know this and wait after I quickly get dressed. Andrea looks beautiful in a white dress shirt and a pair of black jeans.
"Where are we going?" Andrea asked, taking my hand.
"Amy wanted to spend the weekend in New York. I thought I would give her a chance to see the city and I have some business to take care of at the hotel," I said, leaving out the proposal.
"You are so sweet. I know we will have a good time. I can't wait to see your family's hotel," she says, grabbing her jean jacket.
I have my father's driver come pick us all up in his limo. I feel the ring box in my pocket, knowing soon everything would be official. Amy was right, I should have already asked Andrea to marry me. I knew Shane was like a stray cat, who could come back at any time. It would be harder to convince my wife to leave me.
We get in the black limo that drives us to the private jet. Inside the jet I have some snacks put out for the girls and the movie Sleepless in Seattle is playing.
"I love this movie. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have the best chemistry," she says, sitting in the seat beside mine. Penny is very content to sit with her Aunt Amy. I look over to see Amy reading her the book Ella Enchanted. My eyes then focus back on you. You are drinking diet coke while watching the movie.
"So excited about going to New York. I love the city as much as Amy does," you admit.
"It's good to see you back to your old self. I was worried about you for a while there," I said, putting my hands on her face.
"I know. Michonne's death was just so unexpected, and then I was so busy with law school. I felt like I was losing a part of myself. But I have all my schoolwork done now. I am ready for graduation, then the bar exam, and after all that, I will be yours completely," she says, trying to relax.
It seems you've lost interest in becoming a lawyer, a secret I will keep. I will try to be supportive until you admit to me this isn't what you want anymore. After seeing you with Penny, I believe you want to be a stay at home mom, which would make me ecstatic.
"You can take a break before the bar exam. Maybe we can go to London or Paris for a week. My mom could watch Penny for us," I suggest.
"If we went on a vacation, I want to take Penny with us. Maybe we could go to Florida, visit my family and go to some concerts or Disney World," she replies.
"Taking Penny is a great idea. We'll have plenty of time alone on the honeymoon," I said, looking at the tv screen. She lays her head on my shoulder.
"Where are we going for the honeymoon?" she asks, closing her eyes. I knew she was still tired from the Taylor Swift concert.
"That's a surprise. Though I don't plan on us leaving the room too much," I whispered. She falls asleep laying on my shoulders, I softly kiss her check.
We have about an hour until the plane lands, so I let you rest. I feel my heart pounding, knowing soon I would be asking you to be my wife forever. My hands start shaking, I wonder why I am so nervous? You've already picked out cake favors for the wedding. There is no way you are saying no. Calm down, I tell myself as I watch you sleep.
