Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - Fabrizio's apartment

Fabrizio returned from his morning run, his breath steady but his muscles slightly aching from the exertion. Despite the late night, performing until the early hours of the morning, the run was exactly what he needed to clear his head. His usual route along the quiet Okinawan streets had been peaceful, with the early morning mist still hanging in the air and the sounds of the ocean in the distance.

He slipped inside the apartment, careful not to make any noise as the others were still fast asleep. His body longed for a hot shower, and after quickly stripping off his running gear, he stood under the warm water, letting it relax his tense muscles. The refreshing feeling cleared the last remnants of sleep from his mind.

Once finished, Fabrizio dried off, threw on a fresh t-shirt and some comfortable jeans, and quietly made his way to the kitchen. His mind buzzed with the idea of making breakfast for his friends—something simple but hearty to start the day. He moved silently, careful not to disturb the stillness of the early morning.

As he passed by the living room, where Ryuuji and Ami had crashed for the night, a soft smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. The two of them were wrapped around each other on the couch, Ami's head resting peacefully on Ryuuji's chest, while Ryuuji held her close in his sleep. They looked so content, so perfectly at ease with each other.

Fabrizio's heart ached slightly at the sight. His mind immediately flashed back to that night on the beach, three weeks ago. Nanako had fallen asleep on his chest, the soft rhythm of her breathing matching the waves crashing gently against the shore. He had been tempted to move, to shift, but he hadn't. Instead, he had wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. Just like Ryuuji was doing now with Ami.

His smile faded a little as the familiar weight of doubt crept back in. Could he ever find that same peace, that same sense of certainty in love again? Nanako's confession echoed in his mind, as did his own feelings—the ones he still couldn't fully express. Those eight letters still lingered on the tip of his tongue, but something always held him back.

Shaking off the thought, he continued to the kitchen, deciding to focus on the present—on making breakfast for everyone. He quietly pulled out some eggs, bread, and a few other ingredients, setting to work on making omelets and toast. The sizzle of the frying pan was the only sound in the apartment, aside from the soft murmur of his friends' breathing in the other rooms.

As Fabrizio moved around the kitchen, the scent of croissants slowly filling the air, he prepared the moka pot for a fresh brew. The croissants were baking perfectly, and the quiet clinks of kitchenware were the only sounds accompanying him. He felt a sense of peace amidst the gentle morning stillness. He smiled to himself, thinking of how surprised everyone would be to wake up to a homemade breakfast.

Just as he placed the moka pot on the stove, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He wiped his hands on a dish towel and pulled it out. A message from Nanako.

Nanako: Morning! Guess what? Today I start rehabilitation for my leg!

Fabrizio smiled at the screen, a wave of relief washing over him. She was taking another step toward healing, and he couldn't be prouder.

He quickly texted back.

Fabrizio: That's awesome, Nanako-chan! You're gonna crush it, I know you will. And don't worry, we're all rooting for you—me, Yukina, Yukari, Hana, Hiroto… we've got your back for a speedy recovery.

A few moments later, Nanako's reply popped up.

Nanako: Thanks, Fabrizio-kun! It's good to know I've got all of you supporting me.

Fabrizio was about to put his phone away and focus on breakfast when another message from her appeared.

Nanako: Oh, by the way... Maya-chan sent me a video of your performance last night…

Fabrizio froze, the moka pot forgotten for a moment as his heart stilled in his chest. The doubts he had tried to push away since last night began creeping back in. He could almost feel the weight of them bearing down on him again. That song had been a raw, honest reflection of the emotions he had been wrestling with, and knowing that Nanako had seen it—had heard it—made him feel vulnerable all over again.

Before he could compose himself enough to reply, another message arrived.

Nanako: I loved it, Fabrizio-kun. The song, the dedication... I know it was meant for me.

Fabrizio stared at the screen, his fingers hovering over the keyboard, unsure of what to say. He started typing out excuses, vague words trying to explain away the dedication. But before he could send anything, Nanako sent another message.

Nanako: The song made me realize something. When I come back to Okinawa… you'll be ready to say those "8 Letters", won't you?

Fabrizio's breath caught in his throat. His heart pounded as he read the words over and over again, his fingers unable to move. She understood. And she was waiting for him, giving him time. It wasn't pressure—it was a gentle nudge, a reminder that she believed in him, that she knew he was working through his emotions. But it didn't make his lingering doubts any easier to ignore.

He set the phone down on the counter, his hands trembling slightly as the weight of her words sank in. He had no idea what to reply.

Meanwhile, Ryuuji stirred awake, the comforting aroma of freshly baked pastries and the rich scent of brewing coffee gently pulling him out of his slumber. Still half-asleep, he blinked and rubbed his eyes, taking in his surroundings. He felt the warmth of Ami curled up beside him on the sofa-bed, her head resting peacefully on his chest.

The scent of breakfast hit his senses again, this time more vividly. His gaze drifted toward the open balcony doors, and for a second, he assumed the smell was coming from a nearby apartment—maybe a neighbor making an early breakfast. The idea sparked something in him, and he thought he should get up and make something himself, as a way to thank Fabrizio for letting them crash at his place.

Carefully, Ryuuji slipped out from under Ami's sleeping form, making sure not to wake her. He stood up and stretched, the morning light filtering in through the open doors, casting a soft glow across the room. His mind was already racing with ideas—maybe pancakes, eggs, toast?

With a determined nod, he quietly made his way toward the kitchen, intent on finding what he needed to whip up a quick breakfast. But as he turned the corner and stepped inside, his thoughts were interrupted by a sight he wasn't expecting.

There was Fabrizio, standing at the oven, carefully taking out a tray of golden, perfectly baked croissants. The moka pot was gently sputtering on the stove, filling the kitchen with the unmistakable aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

Ryuuji stopped in his tracks, blinking in surprise. "Wait… you're already making breakfast?"

Fabrizio, startled by Ryuuji's sudden presence, glanced over his shoulder and grinned. "Morning! Yeah, figured I'd get a head start before everyone woke up. Thought it'd be nice for you guys to wake up to something good."

Ryuuji let out a small laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. "Man, I thought I was going to be the one making breakfast to thank you for letting us stay. But I guess you beat me to it."

Fabrizio chuckled as he set the tray of croissants down on the counter to cool. "Well, you're welcome to help if you want. Coffee's almost ready."

Ryuuji glanced around, still a bit in awe of the cozy scene Fabrizio had set up. "Honestly, I might just get out of your way—you seem to have everything under control."

"Nah, it's cool," Fabrizio said, waving him over. "Grab some plates, if you don't mind. We can all eat together when everyone wakes up."

Ryuuji grinned and nodded, stepping forward to help. As he grabbed a stack of plates, he couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude.

Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - Ohashi

Nanako took a deep breath as she sent her final message to Fabrizio. She hesitated for a moment before pressing "send," the weight of her own words lingering in her chest.

Nanako: … you'll be ready to say those "8 Letters", won't you?

After closing her phone, she took in her surroundings—the crisp spring air, the leaves rustling in the wind. Nanako gripped the handles of her crutches, taking careful steps as she approached the entrance of the rehabilitation center. Her left leg, still tender from the injury, ached slightly, but the progress she had made in the past few days filled her with a quiet determination.

This place was just down the road from her old high school, a place that held both fond memories and complicated emotions. She remembered walking these very streets with Maya and Ami, laughing with friends, the carefree days of her youth. Now, though, it was different. The weight of recovery, the distance between her and Okinawa, Fabrizio—all of it felt heavy, but also somehow lighter, as if everything was slowly finding its place in the greater picture.

As she neared the doors of the rehabilitation center, a familiar voice called out from behind her.

"Nanako? Is that really you?"

Nanako paused, shifting on her crutches as she turned around to find a face she hadn't expected to see. It was Yuri Koigakubo, her old high school teacher. Yuri looked just as elegant and composed as ever, with her red hair neatly tied back and her eyes full of warmth. Time had barely touched her, except for maybe a slight maturity that added to her natural grace.

"Sensei?" Nanako smiled, surprised but genuinely happy to see her old teacher again. "I didn't expect to run into you here."

Yuri walked closer, her eyes scanning Nanako's crutches with a mixture of concern and curiosity. "What happened? Are you okay?"

Nanako let out a small, almost embarrassed chuckle. "It's a long story. I had an accident a few weeks ago. Broke my leg, but I'm on the mend now. Today's my first day of rehab."

Yuri's brows furrowed for a moment before her expression softened again. "I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad to see you're recovering. It's been so long, Nanako-chan. You've grown up." She paused, glancing at the rehabilitation center. "I still teach at the high school. I didn't think I'd run into any of my old students today."

Nanako nodded, shifting slightly on her crutches. "I've been back in Ohashi for a bit, staying at my family's place while I recover. It feels strange being here again, so close to school. I can't help but think about those days." She smiled, her mind briefly wandering to the times she'd spent with her friends. "You were always a great teacher, Sensei."

Yuri laughed softly. "I tried. But you and your friends were such a lively group. How are they, by the way? Ryuuji, Ami, Maya... Are you all still in touch?"

"Yeah, we are. They're actually all in Okinawa now" Nanako replied, smiling softly. "They were supposed to surprise me there, but none of them knew I had to come back home for recovery. So they showed up and I wasn't even there!" She laughed lightly. "They've been spending time together, along with Fabrizio—"

"Fabrizio?" Yuri interrupted, tilting her head in curiosity. "Who's Fabrizio?"

"Fabrizio is..." She paused, gripping her crutches a little tighter as she felt her cheeks warm slightly. "He's... he's really special."

Yuri smiled knowingly, picking up on the slight shift in Nanako's tone when she mentioned Fabrizio. "Ah, I see. It sounds like he means a lot to you."

Nanako's cheeks warmed a bit, and she shifted on her crutches again. "Yeah, he does. And he's become close to the others too. They've all been having fun together."

Yuri's eyes softened. "That's good to hear. You've always had a strong group of friends. It must be nice knowing they've got your back even when you're not there."

Nanako nodded. "Yeah, they're amazing. I'm really lucky."

Yuri glanced at Nanako's crutches again, her expression becoming more serious. "And this accident... is it something you'll recover from fully?"

"Yeah," Nanako replied with a reassuring smile. "That's why I'm here. I should be back on my feet soon, hopefully back to Okinawa in a week or so."

Yuri's face softened with relief. "I'm glad to hear that. You've always been strong, Nanako-chan. I'm sure you'll be back to your usual self in no time."

Nanako chuckled softly. "I hope so. And what about you, Sensei? Have you found a lover yet?"

Yuri blinked in surprise at Nanako's question, and for a brief moment, her confident demeanor faltered. Her face flushed a deep pink as she tried to compose herself, clearly not expecting such a direct question from her former pupil. She shifted on her feet, a nervous chuckle escaping her lips as she fumbled for an answer.

"Nanako Kashii!" Yuri exclaimed, her voice a mix of embarrassment and mock scolding. "You still know how to catch me completely off guard, don't you?" She glanced away for a moment, her blush only deepening. "I—no, I haven't found anyone. I'm still... single."

Yuri's awkwardness was evident as she waved a hand as if to dismiss the subject, though her flushed face betrayed her. "Still living the quiet, single life, I suppose," she added, her tone lighter as she tried to laugh it off. "I'm dedicated to my work, you know that. Too busy with the students to think about romance."

She gave Nanako a playful side-eye, then added with a teasing grin, "But honestly, asking a question like that... you haven't changed a bit, have you?"

Nanako couldn't help but chuckle at her former teacher's reaction, the playful exchange brought a sense of ease between them, like no time had passed since Nanako's days in the classroom.

Yuri gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder. "You're strong, Nanako-chan. You'll get through this, and I'm sure there's much more waiting for you on the other side of recovery. Just take it one step at a time."

Nanako smiled, grateful for her teacher's encouragement. "Thanks, Sensei. It's really good to see you."

"You too," Yuri said warmly. "And don't hesitate to drop by the school if you ever want to reminisce or need some company. The door's always open for you."

With a final wave, Yuri continued down the path, leaving Nanako to her thoughts. She watched her teacher walk away, the conversation lingering in her mind. It was nice to have such a positive encounter before starting her rehabilitation.

Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - Fabrizio's apartment

Ami stirred in bed, her senses slowly waking before her eyes fully opened. The warm, enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked pastries gently coaxed her from sleep. Her stomach rumbled softly, urging her to follow the scent. She smiled to herself, already picturing Ryuuji making moves in the kitchen.

Quietly, she slipped out of bed, taking care not to disturb the blankets or make too much noise as she padded towards the kitchen. As she reached it, Ami stopped in her tracks, her smile widening at the sight before her.

Ryuuji and Fabrizio were standing near the counter, their laughter filling the room. Ryuuji was mid-sentence, clearly enjoying the punchline of whatever story he was telling.

"So, there I was, thinking it was just a tiny crack in the sidewalk—no big deal. And the next thing I know, I'm flat on my back, legs in the air like an overturned turtle," he said, chuckling.

Fabrizio nearly dropped the croissant he was holding. "Wait, wait—you? You fell flat on your back? I wish I'd seen that!" He leaned against the counter, trying to hold back more laughter.

"Oh, trust me, man, it was not my finest moment," Ryuuji replied, still grinning. "But I've gotta say, the old lady walking her dog nearby was way more concerned about her dog's reaction than helping me get back up. She just looked at me, shrugged, and said, 'It happens.'"

Fabrizio let out another burst of laughter. "You're kidding! That's cold. The poor guy's lying on the ground, and she just keeps walking?"

"Yep," Ryuuji confirmed, shaking his head. "Didn't even bat an eyelash."

Still unnoticed by the two, Ami leaned against the doorframe, quietly amused by the whole exchange. The playful teasing, the easy laughter—it made her feel warm and happy to see Ryuuji and Fabrizio bonding so naturally.

"Well, I hope you at least got up with your dignity intact," Fabrizio teased, setting a plate of freshly baked croissants on the counter.

Ryuuji crossed his arms and shrugged. "Define intact.'"

Fabrizio grinned, shaking his head. "Man, if I ever fall like that, just leave me there. I don't think I could handle it with any shred of dignity."

Ami chuckled quietly, unable to hold it back any longer. At that sound, both Ryuuji and Fabrizio turned toward her, surprised.

"Oh, hey," Ryuuji said, grinning sheepishly. "How long have you been standing there?"

Ami smiled warmly, stepping further into the kitchen. "Long enough to hear about your sidewalk misadventure."

Fabrizio shook his head, still laughing. "You missed the best part. I think we've found Ryuuji-kun's greatest weakness—cracks in the pavement."

Ami chuckled again, walking over to join them. "Good morning, by the way. I didn't mean to spy, but it's nice seeing you two getting along so well."

Ryuuji smirked. "Well, somebody's gotta keep this guy in check," he said, playfully nudging Fabrizio.

Fabrizio returned the gesture, handing Ami a cup of freshly brewed coffee. "Hey, I'm doing my part here—croissants are in the oven, coffee's ready. I think we make a pretty solid team."

Ami took the cup, smiling as the warmth of it spread through her hands. "Yeah, I'd say you two are a dangerous duo."

The three of them shared a laugh, the early morning light streaming through the window, filling the kitchen with a soft, golden glow. The aroma of croissants and coffee gradually spread through the apartment, waking the others from their sleep. One by one, the group started to emerge from their rooms, drawn by the irresistible smell of breakfast.

Noto and Maya were the first to appear, both looking a bit groggy but brightening at the sight of food on the table. Noto gave a half-asleep smile. "Morning, guys. Wow, breakfast ready and waiting—what a treat."

"Yeah," Maya agreed, her voice still heavy with sleep. She eyed the croissants on the counter, her expression lighting up. "This looks amazing."

Ryuuji chuckled, gesturing toward Fabrizio. "All thanks to our master chef over here."

Fabrizio, in the midst of preparing another round of coffee, gave a modest shrug. "Just something to get the day started right."

Noto grabbed a croissant and took a bite, his eyes widening. "Man, these are perfect. You're spoiling us."

Maya sat down next to him, grabbing her own. "Seriously. I could get used to this."

Ami, who had been standing quietly near the kitchen, watching the three of them laugh and joke around, finally decided to make her presence known. "I guess I wasn't the only one lured in by the smell of fresh croissants." She stepped forward, smiling warmly at Fabrizio. "Thanks for this, by the way. It's the perfect start to the morning."

Fabrizio turned to her, smiling. "No problem at all."

As they all settled in at the table to eat, the conversation naturally shifted to the plans for the day.

"So," Ryuuji said, finishing his coffee and looking around, "what's on the agenda? It's a pretty nice day out. Maybe we could explore the city or find something fun to do?"

Noto nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'd be down for checking out some sights or maybe grabbing lunch somewhere."

Maya, still enjoying her croissant, chimed in. "What about the beach later in the afternoon? It's not too far from here."

Everyone seemed excited by the idea, and they turned toward Fabrizio, expecting him to join them for the day's activities.

"Fabrizio, you're coming, right?" Maya asked, smiling as she wiped a few crumbs off her hands.

Fabrizio, who had been sipping his coffee, paused for a moment before setting his cup down. "I'd love to, but I can't. I've got two important classes today at the university, and I really can't miss them."

Ryuuji blinked, surprised. "Classes? Right, it's Thursday. I completely forgot."

Fabrizio nodded, offering a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I've got a full day ahead, unfortunately. I've got to hit the books, and I'll be on campus most of the day."

Maya looked a little disappointed but nodded in understanding. "Well, we'll miss you, but school comes first. You're the responsible one, huh?"

Noto chuckled, clapping Fabrizio on the shoulder. "Hey, gotta balance the music and the studies, right?"

Fabrizio smiled, grateful for their understanding. "Exactly. But I'll catch up with you guys later tonight, once I'm done with everything. Maybe we can all grab dinner or something."

The group nodded in agreement, continuing their breakfast while discussing plans for the day—checking out the local sights, hitting the beach later in the afternoon, and then figuring out where to meet Fabrizio after his classes.

Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - O.P.U.A. Shuri-Tonokura Campus

Fabrizio sat in class, alongside Hiroto and Hana, as their professor delved into the complexities of their morning lesson. The university campus was buzzing with students, but inside the hall, everything felt quiet and focused. Fabrizio took notes, his mind halfway between the content and the events of the past few days—his performance, Nanako's messages, and the ever-lingering thoughts about his feelings for her.

Next to him, Hiroto leaned back in his chair, scribbling notes occasionally, while Hana, a few seats away, seemed entirely absorbed in the lecture.

After about an hour, the professor paused mid-sentence and glanced at the clock. "Alright, let's take a twenty-minute break," he announced. "We'll reconvene afterward and continue with the next section."

A wave of relief swept through the students, and the room filled with the sound of chairs scraping against the floor as people got up, stretched, and began chatting.

Fabrizio stood and grabbed his phone and wallet, gesturing to Hiroto and Hana. "I'm heading to the vending machines. You guys want anything?"

Hiroto shook his head. "Nah, I'm good. But thanks."

Hana smiled. "Same here. I think I'll just stretch my legs for a bit."

With a nod, Fabrizio slipped out of the lecture hall and made his way down the corridor. The vending machines were just around the corner, a familiar sight that had become part of his university routine.

As he reached the row of machines, Fabrizio inserted some coins and pressed the button for a can of green tea. The machine whirred, and the can clattered into the tray below. He grabbed it, cracked it open, and took a sip, feeling the refreshing coolness cut through the warmth of the morning.

A familiar melody drifted into his mind, and, almost unconsciously, he began humming it softly. His voice, quiet yet rich with feeling, started to shape the words under his breath: "If all it is is eight letters, why is it so hard to say…"

The chorus filled his thoughts, spilling out in a low, hushed tone as he remembered last night's performance. It was like the words themselves carried the weight of all his hesitations and hopes, each line drawing him back to his feelings for Nanako, feelings he was still struggling to fully admit even to himself.

A small smile crept onto his face, and yet, under the surface, a gentle ache lingered. He thought about Nanako's message that morning—the way she seemed to understand him without needing an explanation, even from miles away. She had a way of seeing right through him, as if she knew that the song was a bridge to the words he couldn't yet bring himself to say.

But in the quiet of that moment, standing there with his half-finished tea, he let himself wonder if he would ever be ready.

Just as he took another sip of tea, his phone buzzed in his pocket. Pulling it from his pocket, he saw a message from Ryuuji.

Fabrizio's phone buzzed in his hand, and he glanced down to see a message from Ryuuji.

Ryuuji: "Hey, Fabrizio! Just wanted to check in on you and give you a quick update—Ami, Noto, Haruta, Maya, and I are heading out to explore more of Naha this morning. Place is incredible! Oh, and don't even think about cooking dinner tonight. I'll handle it as a thank-you for letting us stay with you!"

Fabrizio chuckled, quickly typing out a reply.

Fabrizio:"Glad to hear you're enjoying the sights! And sure, I'll hand over dinner duties… though I'm holding you to that 'thanks,' so don't hold back!"

As he hit send, a voice interrupted his thoughts, and he glanced up to see Hiroto and Hana approaching from down the hall, spotting him by the vending machines.

"Who's got you grinning like a fool?" Hiroto asked, nudging him with a smirk as they walked over.

"Just Ryuuji giving me an update on their sightseeing," Fabrizio replied, tucking his phone back into his pocket.

Hana raised an eyebrow, a playful smile spreading across her face. "Let me guess— Is it the sights he can't stop talking about?"

Fabrizio chuckled, shaking his head. "Something like that. Apparently, they're exploring all the good spots today. And he insisted he'd cook dinner for everyone tonight as a thank-you for letting them stay at my place."

"Nice! We'll finally get a break from your cooking, then," Hana teased, playfully bumping her shoulder against him. "I love your food, but it's nice to switch things up once in a while."

"Right? You might not even want to come back for his cooking after tonight!" Hiroto chimed in, grinning. "Let's see if Ryuuji can actually pull it off."

Fabrizio laughed, shaking his head. "I guess we'll find out soon enough!"

With a chuckle, the three of them made their way back to the lecture hall, the light banter easing the tension that had lingered in Fabrizio's mind.

Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - Naminoue-gu Shrine

As Ryuuji stood in front of the magnificent Naminoue-gu Shrine, he marveled at the intricate architecture and the vibrant colors that adorned the sacred site. The sound of waves crashing against the nearby cliffs created a serene backdrop, mixing harmoniously with the gentle breeze that rustled the leaves of the surrounding trees.

He took a moment to capture the scene on his phone, snapping a few pictures to send back to Fabrizio later. After sending a quick update to him, he tucked his phone away, a smile creeping onto his face as he admired the view. Just then, he felt a warm embrace from behind.

"You look like you're having a moment there, Ryuuji-kun!" Ami teased, wrapping her arms around him tightly.

Startled at first, Ryuuji turned to see Ami's playful grin. "I was just appreciating the shrine! It's pretty impressive, right?"

Ami let go of him, stepping to the side to admire the entrance with its beautiful torii gate. "Totally! I've read that this shrine is dedicated to the sea god. It's like a piece of history right in front of us."

Noto and Haruta joined them, peering at the shrine in disbelief. "This place is amazing! I can't believe how close it is to the ocean," Noto remarked, snapping photos.

Haruta nodded enthusiastically. "Let's go check out the inside! I want to see if we can make an offering or something."

As they made their way towards the shrine's steps, Ryuuji couldn't help but smile. Surrounded by friends, he felt a warmth spreading through him. "You guys ready to take some pictures?"

"Yeah, for sure! Let's get a group shot!" Ami said, pulling out her phone and directing everyone to gather in front of the shrine.

They lined up, with Ryuuji in the center, and as Ami counted down, he felt a surge of excitement. "One, two, three!" The click of the camera echoed, and the group erupted into laughter, each person trying to strike their best pose.

"Okay, now we need a serious one," Ami insisted, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "This is a shrine, after all!"

They attempted a serious pose, but Ryuuji couldn't help but break into a grin, followed by Noto and Haruta.

"We'll never be serious, even at a shrine," Noto chuckled.

After several more photos, they finally moved towards the entrance of the shrine, taking in the beautiful decorations and the scent of incense wafting through the air. Ryuuji found himself lost in thought for a moment, reflecting on how lucky he was to share these experiences with his friends.

As they stepped further inside, he felt the atmosphere shift, becoming more peaceful and reverent.

"Let's make an offering," Ami suggested, approaching the offering box. "Who wants to go first?"

Haruta stepped forward, fishing a coin from his pocket. "I'll go. I'll wish for good times with all of you." He tossed the coin into the box, closing his eyes briefly as he made his silent wish.

After everyone had a turn, they exited the shrine, feeling uplifted. Ryuuji glanced back at the structure, silently thanking it for the moment they shared. "What's next on our itinerary?" he asked, turning to his friends with a grin.

"Let's explore the beach next!" Haruta suggested enthusiastically.

"Sounds good! I hope you all brought your swimsuits," Ryuuji replied, leading the way as they continued their adventure together.

Thursday Morning, 20th of May 2010 - Naminoue Beach

The group strolled down from the shrine toward the nearby beach, where the sand stretched out like a soft, golden carpet, meeting the ocean in glistening waves. The air was warm, carrying the faint scent of salt and sunshine, and the sound of seagulls filled the sky as they swooped above.

Ryuuji slipped off his shoes and dug his toes into the sand, breathing in the fresh ocean air. "Alright, beach time!" he exclaimed, glancing back at the others, who were busy taking off their own shoes.

Maya wasted no time, quickly pulling her hair back into a ponytail and running straight toward the waves. "Last one in is a rotten egg!" she yelled, casting a playful glance over her shoulder.

"Rotten egg? You're on, Maya-chan!" Noto shouted, sprinting after her with a laugh.

Haruta, determined not to lose, took off with an exaggerated stride, arms swinging wide as he raced past them. "Catch me if you can!" he called out, diving into the surf with a splash.

Ami grinned, walking after them but stopping just short of the waterline, letting the waves lap over her feet. She turned to see Noto and Haruta, already laughing as they splashed water at each other, while Ryuuji waded out further, letting the waves crash against him. He caught Ami's gaze, waving her over.

"Come on, Ami! Don't just stand there!" he teased, motioning her closer.

"Fine, fine!" she said, adjusting her hair before wading in, feeling the cool water wash over her. The sea was refreshing, the perfect contrast to the warmth of the sand.

As the waves pushed in, Ami splashed Ryuuji with a grin. "Bet you didn't see that coming!"

"Oh, you asked for it!" Ryuuji retaliated, splashing her back, water droplets glistening in the sunlight as they laughed.

They continued to playfully battle the waves until the water was dotted with their laughter and splashes, their excitement carrying on the breeze. Further down the beach, Haruta and Noto had found a spot to sit, now wrapped up in an intense sandcastle-building contest, each claiming theirs would be the "superior fortress."

"You know, this is probably the most competitive sandcastle competition I've ever seen," Ami said, glancing between the two carefully sculpted mounds of sand, complete with seashell decorations and even little towers crafted from driftwood.

Noto looked up proudly, wiping sand from his hands. "Ours is a masterpiece. There's no way Haruta's pile of rubble can top this."

"Pile of rubble?" Haruta huffed, leaning over to add the final touches to his own creation. "Noto-kun, ours has a moat—what does yours have?"

"Style!" Noto quipped back, shooting a grin at Ryuuji, who chuckled at the friendly banter.

Ami shook her head, amused, and reached down to smooth out a portion of the sandcastle. "You two could be architects. I've never seen people take a sandcastle this seriously."

As the sun began to lower in the sky, casting everything in hues of gold and pink, Ami sat down onto the sand beside Ryuuji, wiping her forehead with a smile. "Days like this are the best, aren't they?"

Ryuuji nodded, glancing over at her. "Yeah. Days like this… they're perfect."

Thursday Afternoon, 20th of May 2010 - O.P.U.A. Shuri-Tonokura Campus

The last class of the day let out with a bustling crowd of students filtering into the corridors, relieved to finally be done. Fabrizio stretched his arms over his head as he stepped out, Hiroto and Hana falling in step beside him. They made their way through the campus, chatting easily.

"Exams session is coming up... Are you guys ready?" Fabrizio asked, a small grin tugging at his lips.

Hiroto laughed, shaking his head. "Ready? Sure, if 'ready' means barely managing to keep up with assignments."

Hana gave a sympathetic sigh, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Tell me about it. I'm juggling two projects and a stack of readings that's practically its own skyscraper."

"Guess we're all in the same boat," Fabrizio nodded, adjusting the strap of his bag. "Just a little longer, though. We'll make it through."

As they turned into the main campus square, Fabrizio's eyes caught sight of two familiar figures standing near the fountain, chatting and laughing — Yukina and Yukari. They both wore easy smiles, each absorbed in the conversation until they noticed Fabrizio, Hiroto, and Hana approaching.

"Hey, look who it is!" Yukina waved, her grin widening.

"Fancy running into you three here," Yukari added, folding her arms as she leaned against the fountain's edge.

"Yeah, same to you two," Fabrizio chuckled, returning their wave as he led the others toward the fountain. "How's it going? You guys done for the day?"

"Thankfully, yes," Yukina replied, brushing invisible dust off her skirt. "We were just planning to grab some coffee before heading home."

Hana's eyes lit up. "Oh, that sounds like the perfect plan after today. Mind if we join you?"

"Not at all! The more, the merrier," Yukari said warmly, gesturing toward the small campus café just down the pathway.

They fell into step together, conversations mingling and laughter echoing as they moved through the campus square, the day's stresses fading with every step.

As they strolled toward the campus café, Yukari glanced over at Fabrizio, an inquisitive shine in her eyes. "So, Fabrizio-kun… have you heard from Nanako-chan?"

Fabrizio nodded, his expression softening as he recalled the messages from earlier. "Yeah, she texted me this morning. Said she was starting rehabilitation for her leg today."

Yukari tilted her head, a small smile on her lips. "Is... that all she said?"

He hesitated, feeling Yukari's gentle gaze urging him on. Finally, he nodded. "Actually… she also asked me about...something...I sang about last night. Wanted to know if I'd be ready to say them when she got back."

Yukari's brow furrowed as she tried to piece it together. "Say what words? Wait, did something happen yesterday?"

Fabrizio paused, realizing he hadn't told them anything about the night before. "Yeah… It was kind of a big night," he began, rubbing the back of his neck as he searched for the right words. "I performed at the club last night. There was a song I sang — it's called 8 Letters. And, well, I dedicated it to her. She wasn't there, but one of her friends was recording and sent it to her."

Yukina thought about the song's title and when she realized what the 8 letter were, her eyes widened, making her curiosity pique. "That's huge, Fabrizio-kun! So, she knows?"

He nodded slowly, the memory still fresh. "Yeah, I guess she does now. And this morning… she said that she could wait until I'm ready to say those words. But honestly, just the thought of it..."

Yukari gave him an encouraging smile. "That's brave of you, though. Sometimes, things aren't about timing; they're just about finding the right words and the courage to say them."

Fabrizio's gaze softened as he considered her words. This morning's message from Nanako lingered in his mind, and while a part of him still felt the weight of his own uncertainties, the thought of her waiting patiently stirred a sense of relief.

"Yeah," he murmured, half to himself. "I guess… maybe I'm closer to that than I thought."

Fabrizio shifted gears, a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips. "Alright, enough talking about me. How did your outing to Bise go? Heard you took your whole family along."

Yukari's eyes lit up, and she laughed. "Oh, it was a full-on family adventure! We ended up going the whole day, and Bise was absolutely stunning. The cherry blossoms were in bloom, and I think we took about a hundred pictures with those big, old banyan trees."

"Yeah, and Mom made us all wear those matching floral shirts," Yukina chimed in with a playful roll of her eyes. "We looked like one big tourist group."

Hana stifled a giggle. "Matching shirts! I would've loved to see that," she said.

"Honestly, it wasn't half bad." Yukari shrugged. "It's kind of tradition for us, and after all, it's nice to have everyone together for once. We even got Dad to do a little sightseeing dance—don't ask how."

Fabrizio chuckled, shaking his head. "A sightseeing dance? That, I would pay to see. Sounds like you all had a blast."

As they continued strolling toward the beach, Yukina laughed, launching into more stories about the family trip. "Oh, you should've seen us trying to all fit into that tiny café near the village entrance. We had to squish into these tiny tables, and Dad accidentally knocked over this poor waiter's tray. Let's just say it became a bit of a scene."

Yukari nodded, still chuckling. "And then he tried to apologize by attempting some 'local dance moves' he thought were traditional. People were... amused, to say the least."

Hiroto smirked. "Sounds like you two had quite the adventure, even if it was a family trip!"

Thursday Afternoon, 20th of May 2010 - Naminoue Beach

As they reached the beach, the smell of saltwater and warm sand greeted them. The sun was lowering, casting a golden glow over the waves. They hadn't gone far when they spotted Noto and Maya, who were lying on the beach chairs under a big straw umbrella.

"Noto-kun! Maya-chan!" Hana called out, waving as she hurried over.

Noto looked up, his face breaking into a grin. "Hey, you all made it! We were just about to text you guys."

"Great timing!" Maya added, waving them over enthusiastically. "The water looks perfect today."

Hana took a step forward, realizing introductions were in order. "Oh! Yukina, Yukari, these are some of Nanako's friends from Ohashi," she said, motioning to Noto and Maya. "This is Noto, and that's Maya."

Yukina and Yukari both smiled and offered friendly nods. "Nice to meet you," Yukina said warmly. "We've heard so much about the group from Ohashi."

"Same here," Maya replied, returning the smile. "Nanako-chan's mentioned you two a couple of times; she was really excited about you all meeting us."

As everyone settled in, Fabrizio looked around and noticed a couple of familiar faces missing. "So, where are Ryuuji, Ami, and Haruta?" he asked, glancing at Noto.

Noto grinned and pointed a thumb over his shoulder toward the sea. "Haruta-kun's out there," he said, gesturing toward a lone figure splashing in the water with boundless energy.

Maya laughed. "That guy practically lives in the ocean. I bet he'll be out there until sundown."

Noto chuckled, nodding in agreement. "And Ryuuji and Ami went for a walk along the waterfront. Ami-chan seemed like she wanted some fresh air, so Ryuuji-kun tagged along."

Fabrizio smiled, glancing in the direction of the shoreline. "Sounds about right. It's a nice day for it."

Maya turned to Hana with a curious look. "So, how were classes today?" she asked, leaning forward eagerly. "Are you guys prepping for exams yet?"

Hana nodded, stretching her legs out in the sand. "Pretty much, yeah! We're in that crunch period, so everyone's feeling it. Today was full of lectures and prep work; I swear I've never seen that many people so exhausted by mid-morning," she laughed.

"Ah, the pre-exam chaos," Maya chuckled. "Well, hopefully, you're not too burned out already!"

Meanwhile, Yukina and Yukari were deep in conversation with Hiroto, sharing stories from their recent family trip. Occasionally, one of them would glance out toward the water, where Haruta was swimming with a carefree energy, prompting a smile from them both.

Fabrizio found an open beach chair next to Noto and sank into it, stretching his legs and taking in the relaxed vibe. He gave Noto a friendly nudge. "So, how was your day?" he asked.

Noto grinned, leaning back with a satisfied sigh. "It was perfect, really. We started at Naminoue Shrine, did some sightseeing, then hit the beach here. Everyone's been in good spirits—it's been nice to see everyone let loose a little."

Fabrizio was about to ask more when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a new message lighting up the screen that was from Mitsuri, Homura's daughter.

He was a bit surprised, as she didn't often text him, but he opened it right away.

Mitsuri: "Hey Fabrizio-kun! Hope I'm not bothering you. Just wanted to say thanks again for last night; it was awesome watching you play. I don't get to see many live shows that feel… personal, I guess. You know what I mean?"

A second message came through just after:

Mitsuri: "Oh, and by the way, when you have new songs, keep me in mind? I think I could get into this front-row seat thing"

Fabrizio chuckled, feeling a bit lighter. Mitsuri's enthusiasm had its own way of sparking energy, and her encouragement settled over him like a warm glow. Just then, a final message appeared:

Mitsuri: "Maybe sometime soon you can teach me to play? I'd love to learn from someone who actually gets music like you do."

Fabrizio grinned at the screen. Mitsuri had her own charisma, and her texts had a way of breaking through the day's stresses. He typed back a quick reply.

Fabrizio: "Hey Mitsuri-san! No bother at all; I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Honestly, it means a lot that it felt personal to you—that's always what I'm going for."

He paused, thinking about how to answer her request to learn, then continued:

Fabrizio: "And sure, I'd be happy to teach you! Maybe next time we can plan a mini session? We'll get you from front-row fan to guitar pro in no time."

After sending the message, he thought for a second and added:

Fabrizio: "Thanks again for coming out. I know you're busy too, so it was great having you there. And hey—keep that front-row seat open. Got a few new things in the works that you might just be the first to hear."

Fabrizio hit send, took a deep breath and stretched out in the chair, feeling the warm breeze of the beach. He glanced at Noto, who was watching him with mild curiosity.

Noto adjusted his seating and glanced at him. "Everything alright, Fabrizio-kun? You seemed pretty focused for a minute there."

Fabrizio slipped his phone into his pocket. "Yeah, just a message from my boss' daughter, Mitsuri. She was at the club last night and loved the show. Said she really connected with one of the songs and asked if I could teach her a bit of guitar sometime."

"That so?" Noto asked, leaning back slightly and tilting his head, his tone casual but curious.

"Yeah. She's really into music, and I guess she wants to learn more. I told her I'd help out if we could find the time," Fabrizio explained with a shrug, his expression lighthearted. "She's pretty passionate about it, which is cool to see."

As Fabrizio finished speaking, Noto adjusted his glasses, the faintest flicker of thought crossing his face. He turned his attention briefly to Maya, who was absently twirling a strand of her hair while looking out at the sea.

Fabrizio raised an eyebrow, puzzled by the silent exchange. "What? Did I say something weird?"

Noto shook his head, offering a small smile. "No, no, nothing like that. Just thinking it's nice when people recognize your talent, that's all."

Maya nodded, breaking from her daydream and chiming in. "Yeah, you really nailed it last night, Fabrizio-kun. That kind of passion is bound to inspire someone."

Fabrizio chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "Well, if my music can do that, then I'm doing something right."

Noto hid a knowing look behind a sip of his drink, letting the topic drift away as the sounds of the beach filled the air once more.

Thursday Afternoon, 20th of May 2010 - Ohashi

Nanako lay sprawled across her bed, the late afternoon sunlight filtering through the curtains and casting a warm glow over her room. Her muscles ached from the rigorous rehabilitation session, and a deep weariness seeped into her bones. But despite the fatigue, she held her phone in one hand, scrolling through the pictures Maya had sent from Okinawa.

Each image brought a smile to her lips: Ryuuji, Ami, Noto, Maya, and Haruta grinning on the beach; a candid shot of Haruta mid-run towards the water; another of Maya posing dramatically in front of the Naminoue-gu Shrine. It warmed her heart to see them enjoying themselves, even if a tiny pang of longing tugged at her.

She tapped her screen to swipe through more photos but mistapped, and instead of returning to the gallery, her finger opened the message thread between her and Fabrizio.

Her eyes fell on the message she had sent him earlier that morning, and her smile softened.

"When I'm back, will you be ready to say those eight letters?"

She stared at her words, replaying the courage it had taken to send that message. The thought of Fabrizio's hesitant but honest reply brought a flutter to her chest. She couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about now. Did his thoughts drift to her, just as hers seemed to do whenever she found a quiet moment?

The sound of a gentle breeze brushing against her window drew her gaze up to the sky. The clouds were scattered, light and airy, mirroring the tentative hope building within her. She sighed, rolling onto her side, the phone still in her hand.

"Fabrizio…" she murmured aloud, her voice barely above a whisper, the name carrying a mix of affection and yearning.

Her thumb hovered over the message field. A part of her wanted to type something, anything, just to hear from him again. But she hesitated, unsure if she should.

She set the phone down on her chest with a sigh, her purple eyes gazing up at the ceiling.

"What are you thinking about right now, Fabrizio-kun?" she whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of her room.

Her thoughts swirled with memories of the beach trip, the way he'd held her guitar like it was an extension of himself, his smile, his laugh. The way he made her feel seen, even when she was unsure of herself.

She picked up the phone again and stared at their conversation thread. Maya's photos had been a comfort, but the loneliness she felt crept back in the quiet moments. It wasn't a sadness but a longing—one she wasn't sure how to put into words.

The phone buzzed in her hand, breaking her reverie. A new message appeared, this time from Maya.

Maya: "Hey, Nanako-chan! Fabrizio reached us on the beach with Hiroto and Hana. I sent you some pictures of everyone together. I think you'll love them"

Nanako smiled as the photos loaded, her heart skipping when she saw the candid group shots. There was one of Fabrizio sitting on a beach chair, looking thoughtful as he talked to Noto. Another showed him smiling widely, his relaxed demeanor radiating warmth even through the screen.

Maya sent another message.

Maya: "Also, just so you know, Ryuuji is cooking dinner for everyone tonight! Wish you were here—it's not the same without you."

Nanako's smile faltered slightly.

Nanako: "I wish I was there too," she typed back, hesitating before hitting send. She didn't want Maya to feel guilty for having fun without her, but she also couldn't deny the pang of longing she felt.

Her phone buzzed again almost immediately.

Maya: "You'll be back soon! And you'll get to see all this yourself. Fabrizio-kun misses you too, you know. I can tell."

Nanako froze, staring at the screen, her heart thudding in her chest. Her fingers hesitated over the keyboard before she typed a quick response.

Nanako: "Maya-chan! Don't say things like that!"

The reply came almost instantly.

Maya: "Oh, come on, Nanako-chan. It's obvious. Even Noto-kun said something about it today! But I'll stop teasing… for now. Take care of yourself, okay? We're all rooting for you."

Nanako smiled, her cheeks still flushed. She placed her phone on the bedside table and curled up on her side, clutching a small pillow to her chest.

"Soon," she whispered to herself, her voice filled with hope. "I'll be back soon."

Thursday Evening, 20th of May 2010 - Fabrizio's apartment

The gentle hum of activity filled Fabrizio's apartment. The rhythmic clatter of pans and utensils echoed from the kitchen, where Ryuuji diligently prepared dinner, whistling a soft tune. On the couch, Noto, Hiroto, Haruta, and Hana were deeply immersed in a competitive round of video games, their laughter and playful jeers punctuating the air. Occasionally, Haruta would groan dramatically at a lost point, earning teasing chuckles from the others.

In the bathroom, Maya and Ami could be heard chatting faintly over the sound of running water as they took turns showering, their voices punctuated by laughter.

Out on the balcony, away from the lively bustle inside, Fabrizio sat quietly. A pencil rested loosely between his fingers, the eraser pressed lightly against his temple as he stared at the open notepad on the small table in front of him. The faint evening breeze rustled the pages, carrying with it the sounds of the city blending with the fading cries of seabirds.

His phone sat nearby, screen dark, but his mind was still tethered to the words Nanako had sent him that morning.

"When I'm back, will you be ready to say those eight letters?"

Fabrizio exhaled deeply, leaning back in his chair, his gaze unfocused as it drifted over the horizon. His chest tightened with a mix of longing and uncertainty. Despite the clarity he thought he'd achieved earlier—his silent promise to tell her those words—doubt lingered.

"What if I can't be what she needs?" he murmured to himself, his voice barely audible over the gentle rustling of the breeze.

The pencil slipped from his fingers and rolled across the table. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and buried his face in his hands for a moment. When he looked up again, his eyes were drawn to the darkening sky, where the first stars were beginning to glimmer faintly.

"Oh Nanako-chan," he said aloud, his voice tinged with quiet anguish. "What made you fall in love with a trainwreck like me? Someone who can't even give you a clear answer…"

He trailed off, his gaze scanning the heavens as they turned a deeper shade of blue. One by one, more stars appeared, filling the sky with their quiet brilliance. His eyes sought a particular point of light, his anchor when the weight of his insecurities grew too heavy.

"Clara…" he whispered, finding her star shining faintly in the growing darkness.

The familiar sight brought a faint, bittersweet smile to his lips. Fabrizio clasped his hands together and rested his chin on them, as if seeking guidance from his lover's memory.

"You'd tell me to stop overthinking and just trust myself, wouldn't you?" he murmured, his voice barely audible.

Inside, Ryuuji called out, "Dinner's almost ready! Haruta-kun, no snacking before it's done!"

The shout snapped Fabrizio out of his reverie. He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Guess I can't sit out here all night," he muttered, taking the pencil and notepad and tucking them under his arm.

Before heading back inside, he glanced at Clara's star one last time. It twinkled against the vast sky, steady and serene.

"Thanks," he whispered. "I'll figure it out… eventually."

As Fabrizio turned and stepped back inside, the warmth and noise of his friends enveloping him as he closed the door, a streak of light raced silently across the sky behind him.

A shooting star glided gracefully, vanishing in a soft, fleeting glow as it disappeared into the horizon.

Fabrizio closed the balcony door, the dining table was lively with chatter and laughter as everyone gathered around, waiting eagerly for dinner to be served. Hiroto was recounting a funny mishap during the day's gaming session, while Maya and Ami were teasing Noto about his unusually bad luck in the last round. Haruta leaned back in his chair, groaning dramatically.

"Come on, dude!" Haruta whined, rubbing his stomach for extra effect. "I'm starving over here! Are you trying to kill me or something?"

Ryuuji's voice called out from the kitchen, amused yet firm. "Patience, Haruta-kun. Good food takes time!"

"But I don't have time," Haruta shot back, pouting. "My stomach is about to declare war!"

The sound of plates being set down interrupted him, and all heads turned toward the kitchen door as Ryuuji emerged, carrying a large tray laden with steaming dishes. The room erupted in cheers.

"Finally!" Haruta exclaimed, clapping his hands together.

"Thank you for this, Ryuuji-kun," Fabrizio said earnestly, clapping his friend on the back as they all moved to serve themselves.

"Yeah, thanks, dude! You're a lifesaver!" Haruta added enthusiastically, already helping himself to a generous portion.

As everyone took their first bites, a series of satisfied moans filled the air.

"Oh my God," Maya said, her eyes widening. "This is incredible!"

"Are you sure you're not secretly a professional chef?" Hiroto asked, pointing his fork at Ryuuji with mock suspicion.

Ami chimed in, smiling proudly, "I keep telling you all, my boyfriend is the best cook. It's no big deal."

"Modesty looks good on you, Ami-chan," Noto joked, earning a laugh from the group.

Fabrizio leaned back slightly, savoring a bite. "Seriously, Ryuuji, this is amazing. You've outdone yourself."

Ryuuji waved off the praise, though a faint blush crept up his cheeks. "It's nothing, really. Just wanted to say thanks for letting us stay."

"Best thank-you dinner ever," Hiroto declared between mouthfuls, already reaching for seconds.

The room buzzed with lighthearted conversation as they enjoyed the meal, their company making the apartment feel even cozier. As the laughter and chatter continued, Noto set down his fork, turning to Ryuuji with a curious expression.

"Hey, Ryuuji-kun," he began, "what time do we need to be at the ferry boarding tomorrow morning?"

Ryuuji glanced up from his plate, wiping his mouth with a napkin before answering. "The ferry leaves at 9:45 a.m. We should aim to be there at least an hour early to get through the checks and handle everything calmly. So… let's say by 8:30."

Hana's fork clattered against her plate, and she looked at them with wide eyes. "Wait, you're already leaving?" she exclaimed, the disappointment clear in her voice.

Ryuuji gave her an apologetic smile. "Yeah, unfortunately. We've got to head back to the mainland tomorrow. It's been an amazing trip, but responsibilities call."

Hana frowned, crossing her arms. "But it feels like you guys just got here! And we've barely had time to hang out properly."

"True," Haruta chimed in, leaning back in his chair. "It's gone by way too fast. Feels like we just got into the groove of things."

"Time flies when you're having fun, right?" Maya added with a wistful smile, her gaze drifting to the others.

"Too fast," Haruta added with a grin. "I was just starting to win everyone over with my amazing personality."

"That's a stretch," Noto quipped, earning a laugh from the group.

"You guys leaving so soon kind of makes it hit me," Fabrizio said, his voice thoughtful. "The apartment's gonna feel a little emptier without all of you around."

"Well," Ami said warmly, "it's not goodbye forever. You know we'll come back to visit. And maybe next time, Nanako will be here too."

The mention of Nanako brought a pause to the conversation, but it quickly shifted back to cheerful reminiscing.

"Until then," Noto said, lifting his glass for a toast, "here's to making the most of the rest of the night!"

"Cheers to that!" the group chimed, raising their glasses with smiles.

As the conversation began to wind down, Maya suddenly perked up, an idea lighting up her face.

"Hey! Before we all get too stuffed and lazy... let's take a group selfie and send it to Nanako-chan!" she suggested excitedly.

Everyone immediately agreed, their faces brightening at the thought of including Nanako in their final evening together. Maya pulled out her phone and positioned herself near the center of the table.

"Alright, squeeze in, everyone!" she instructed.

Haruta stretched his arm around Ryuuji, pulling him close, while Ami laughed and leaned into Maya. Hiroto casually rested a hand on Hana's shoulder, and Fabrizio settled in beside Maya, flashing a warm smile.

"Say... Okinawa forever!" Maya cheered.

"Okinawa forever!" everyone echoed, grinning at the camera.

The phone's shutter clicked, capturing the joy and warmth of the moment.

Maya checked the picture and smiled, satisfied. "Perfect! Sending it now."

She quickly typed out a message and, with a satisfied tap, she sent the photo to Nanako, who was sure to smile when she saw it.

With the plates cleared and bellies full, the group naturally fell into after-dinner chores. Hana and Maya stood at the sink, washing and drying dishes, while Hiroto wiped down the counters with practiced efficiency.

"Who knew dinner cleanup could be this fun?" Hiroto joked, flipping the kitchen towel over his shoulder.

"You're lucky I didn't let Hiroto-kun do the dishes," Hana teased, scrubbing a plate. "He'd probably flood the entire kitchen."

Meanwhile, in the living room, Ryuuji stretched out on the couch, his hands behind his head, exchanging banter with Noto and Haruta. As laughter echoed through the apartment, Fabrizio slipped back out onto the balcony.

The night air was cooler now, and the stars twinkled above, uninterrupted by the city lights. He settled into the chair again, his phone in hand.

Nanako's message from that morning still glowed on the screen. He sighed, staring at it as if the words might reveal some hidden answer to his endless doubts.

He leaned back, resting his head against the chair as he mumbled to himself, "What did she even see in me?…"

Unbeknownst to him, Ami had wandered to the balcony doorway, her footsteps silent on the floor. She stood there for a moment, watching him wrestle with his thoughts.

"Fabrizio-kun?" her soft voice broke the silence, making him sit up straight, startled.

He turned quickly, stuffing his phone into his pocket. "Oh, Ami-chan. I didn't see you there."

She walked over, leaning lightly against the railing beside him, her eyes soft but inquisitive. For a moment, silence stretched between them, broken only by the distant hum of waves.

"Thinking about her, don't you?" Ami asked gently.

Fabrizio exhaled slowly, resting his elbows on his knees as he gazed at the stars. "Is it that obvious?"

Ami smiled faintly. "It's written all over your face. You've been like this all day."

He ran a hand through his hair, frustration flickering in his eyes. "I just... I keep wondering what she even sees in me. I'm a mess, Ami-chan. I don't even know how to put into words what I'm feeling."

Ami's expression softened. "Fabrizio-kun… you don't have to be perfect to be loved."

Fabrizio's smile faltered as doubt sank its claws into his mind again. He stared out at the dark horizon, the endless waves echoing the turmoil inside him.

"But... what if I mess it up?" he whispered, more to himself than to Ami. "What if she realizes she's better off... without me?"

Ami sighed, her eyes filled with understanding. "Fabrizio-kun, you're doing it again. You're overthinking."

He clenched his jaw. "I can't help it. She deserves someone sure of himself... someone who can be what she needs without stumbling at every step."

"You are what she needs," Ami said softly. "Even if you don't see it."

Fabrizio's hand hovered over his pocket where his phone rested. Nanako's message burned in his mind, tempting him to respond—but the weight of expectation paralyzed him. He couldn't bear to send something that might not be enough.

"I... I just... I can't do this right now," he admitted.

Ami's expression saddened, but she nodded. "Okay... but don't shut her out. Don't shut yourself out."

He managed a weak nod as Ami squeezed his shoulder one last time before heading back inside. Left alone under the sprawling stars, Fabrizio's heart ached.

He pulled out his phone, staring at Nanako's message until the words blurred together. His thumb hovered over the screen, but no words came to mind. With a defeated sigh, he locked the phone and placed it facedown on the table.

The cool breeze whispered around him as the stars shimmered brighter, almost urging him forward—but he didn't notice. His thoughts swirled, trapping him in doubt as he leaned back, resting his head against the chair, staring at the sky.

[Day-Date-Time Redacted] – Unknown Location

Fabrizio wandered through a quiet park at night, the soft rustling of leaves blending with the distant sound of flowing water. The moonlight bathed the area in a gentle silver glow, creating an ethereal atmosphere. His footsteps crunched against the gravel path as he walked, lost in thought.

Suddenly, a familiar, warm presence made him stop. He slowly lifted his gaze—and there she stood.

Clara.

She wore a flowing white dress, her long dark hair cascading over her shoulders, glowing softly under the moonlight. Her radiant smile was exactly as he remembered—comforting, full of life.

"Clara?" Fabrizio's voice trembled with disbelief.

Clara's eyes sparkled. "It's been a while, my love."

Overwhelmed, Fabrizio closed the distance between them, tears blurring his vision. "I've missed you so much."

"I know," she whispered, cupping his face with delicate hands. "But I'm still here... in your heart."

Before he could say more, Clara closed the distance and gently took his hands. Her touch was warm, real—how could this be? His fingers trembled as he clung to hers.

"Come," she said, guiding him to a nearby bench. They sat, enveloped in a peaceful stillness, with the scent of blooming flowers lingering in the breeze.

"I've been watching over you," Clara whispered, her thumb gently tracing his palm. "I know how much you've struggled."

Fabrizio lowered his gaze, his voice breaking. "I feel so lost without you... I can't seem to move forward."

Clara cupped his cheek, her touch tender but firm. "You haven't been lost... just searching."

He closed his eyes, savoring the warmth of her hand, something he thought he'd never feel again. "Why now? Why are you here tonight?"

Her expression softened, though her gaze held steady. "Because you need to hear what I've always wanted to tell you."

His breath hitched as she continued, "I see how much you care for Nanako... but you keep holding back."

He pulled away, his head shaking violently. "No... I can't. You were her best friend. I... it feels wrong."

Clara smiled, a bittersweet curve of her lips. "Loving her doesn't mean forgetting me."

Tears filled his eyes. "But it feels like I'm betraying what we had."

She leaned closer, her voice trembling with emotion. "What we had was beautiful... and real. But it doesn't end because you choose to love again."

Fabrizio clenched his fists, his voice breaking. "But I'm not good enough... not for her. What if I fail her too?"

Clara leaned closer, her voice firm yet full of warmth. "You are more than enough. You've always been. Nanako doesn't need perfection—she needs you."

His breath hitched. "I... I'm scared."

"Being scared means you care." Her voice softened. "But love is worth the risk."

His breath trembled as her words pierced the walls he had built around his heart.

Clara brushed her fingers across his cheek, wiping away his tear. "You deserve happiness, Fabrizio. I want you to have it... with her."

Before he could respond, she leaned forward and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his forehead—a touch filled with warmth, forgiveness, and endless love.

As she pulled back, the wind stirred, carrying petals into the night sky.

"I'll always be with you," she whispered. "But it's time for you to live."

Her form began to fade into shimmering light, her smile the last thing to disappear into the wind.

"Clara…" Fabrizio's voice cracked. "Thank you... for everything."

Her final smile lingered in the breeze, a promise unspoken yet deeply felt.

Friday Morning, 21st of May 2010 - Fabrizio's apartment

Fabrizio woke with a start, his face damp with tears. The cool night air wrapped around him as he sat upright on the balcony, his heart pounding.

His gaze drifted toward the open window to the sky which was fading into soft hues of purple and amber as dawn gently embraced the world. Only a few stars still shimmered, holding on before the morning light chased them away.

As he stared, his breath caught—one of the faint stars streaked across the sky, swift and brilliant, disappearing into the horizon.

A trembling smile tugged at his lips, tears still glistening in his eyes. He pressed a hand over his heart, feeling its steady rhythm—lighter than it had been in a long time.

"Thank you... Clara," he whispered, his voice rough with emotion.

For the first time in a long while, the weight on his chest felt lighter and his path clearer.

Suddenly, the gentle hum of a guitar riff broke the quiet, followed by a rich, soulful voice:

"Com'è cominciata io non saprei..."

Fabrizio's gaze shifted as his radio alarm clock clicked on, playing "Più Bella Cosa" by Eros Ramazzotti. He lay still, listening to the heartfelt lyrics flowing through the air.

"Ci vuole passione con te..."

The song's intensity grew, tugging at memories and emotions still fresh from his dream. He closed his eyes again, letting the melody sink in.

"Più bella cosa non c'è
Più bella cosa di te
Unica come sei
Immensa quando vuoi"

A bittersweet smile tugged at his lips. The song's lyrics echoed his unspoken feelings—his longing, his uncertainty... and his love.

He sat up slowly, rubbing his face as the chorus swelled, filling the room with its powerful emotion. It felt as though the universe itself was sending him a message, pushing him gently toward what his heart already knew.

"Grazie di esistere"

With a deep breath, Fabrizio reached for his phone on the nightstand. Nanako's message was still there—waiting.

This time, his fingers didn't hesitate.

Nanako: The song made me realize something. When I come back to Okinawa… you'll be ready to say those "8 Letters", won't you?

Fabrizio: Good morning, Nanako-chan. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner... I've been thinking a lot. About you... about us. You're right—when you come back, I'll be ready to say those eight letters. No more doubts. No more holding back. Thank you for believing in me... in us.

He hovered over the send button, feeling his heart pound. With a final breath of resolve, he pressed send.

The radio played the final notes of "Più Bella Cosa" as Fabrizio set his phone down, a wave of calm washing over him. For the first time in weeks, he felt at peace.

The scent of freshly brewed coffee drifted through the apartment as everyone stirred awake. Ryuuji emerged from the living room, stretching, while Haruta and Noto stumbled into the living room, still groggy. Hiroto and Hana followed shortly after, rubbing sleep from their eyes.

As they gathered around the kitchen counter, exchanging sleepy greetings, they noticed Fabrizio standing by the open balcony door, basking in the soft morning sunlight. His face shone with a radiant, serene smile, unlike anything they'd seen in weeks.

Haruta blinked, puzzled. "Whoa... you're unusually chipper this morning, dude. Did you win the lottery or something?"

Noto adjusted his glasses, equally confused. "Or finally find the meaning of life?"

Fabrizio chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Nothing like that... just woke up on the right side of life today."

While the others exchanged curious looks, Ami quietly observed Fabrizio, her heart swelling with joy. She could see it—the unmistakable glow of someone who had finally laid down their burdens.

She turned to Ryuuji, her sparkling blue eyes shimmering with happiness. He caught her gaze, puzzled at first, but realization slowly dawned. He smiled knowingly and wrapped his arms around her, whispering, "He finally did it, didn't he?"

Ami nodded, tears of joy threatening to spill. "Yeah... he finally did."

Friday Morning, 21st of May 2010 - Naha Wharf Ferry Terminal

The sun glistened off the calm, azure waters of Naha Wharf as the two groups arrived at the terminal. Passengers bustled around them, dragging luggage and exchanging goodbyes. Fabrizio, Hana, and Hiroto helped carry bags as the Ohashi group prepared to board their ferry back home.

After handing off the last suitcase, the groups lingered near the boarding gate, unwilling to part just yet.

"We'll miss you guys," Maya said with a soft smile. "Thanks for making this trip unforgettable."

Haruta grinned. "And for putting up with us crashing at your place."

Fabrizio chuckled. "You guys are always welcome."

As farewells continued, Ami exchanged a silent glance with Ryuuji, who nodded in approval. Taking Fabrizio's hand, she gently pulled him aside, away from the others.

Fabrizio blinked, puzzled. "What's going on?"

Ami's blue eyes sparkled with emotion. "We know."

"Know...what?" Fabrizio asked cautiously.

"That you confessed to Nanako," Ryuuji added with a knowing smirk.

Fabrizio exhaled a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. "Unofficially... but yeah."

Without warning, Ami threw her arms around Fabrizio, pulling him into a tight hug. "I'm so happy for you... and for her."

Fabrizio's breath hitched at her sincerity. "Thank you... I still can't believe I did it."

Before they could continue, an announcement echoed through the terminal:

"Attention passengers, the ferry to Kagoshima will be arriving shortly at Dock 4. Please prepare for boarding."

Ami reluctantly released Fabrizio, her hands still resting on his shoulders. "Before we go... there's something I need to give you."

She reached into her tote bag and pulled out a well-worn notepad. Its edges were frayed, and the cover was etched with faint musical notes.

Fabrizio's eyes widened. "What is it?"

Ryuuji held it out. "It's my old song notebook. It's full of unfinished lyrics and melodies."

Stunned, Fabrizio hesitated, not understanding. "Why... why are you giving this to me?"

Ryuuji's gaze was steady. "Because I've seen your talent. You have something special, Fabrizio. I want you to finish what I couldn't."

Speechless, Fabrizio took the notebook, his fingers brushing over the familiar texture. "Ryuuji-kun... I don't know what to say."

Before any more words could be exchanged, the boarding announcement repeated, urging passengers to proceed to Dock 4.

"Say you'll finish them," Ryuuji encouraged. "And when Nanako-chan comes back... play one just for her."

Fabrizio nodded. "I will."

With that, she and Ryuuji hurried back to the others. They waved one final time as they disappeared through the boarding gate, leaving Fabrizio standing there, with Hiroto and Hana.

Hana sniffled quietly, linking her arm with Hiroto's. "It feels weird seeing them leave."

Fabrizio stood still, clutching Ryuuji's song notebook close to his chest. He raised a hand in a silent farewell as the ferry pulled away, leaving ripples across the water.

"They'll be back," Hiroto said confidently, placing a hand on Hana's shoulder.

Fabrizio smiled faintly, feeling the comforting weight of friendship and hope settle in his heart.

"Yeah... they will."

As the ferry drifted further from the dock, leaving only faint ripples in its wake, the three friends stood in reflective silence. The gentle ocean breeze cooled their skin, brushing away the weight of parting.

Suddenly, Hiroto stretched his arms wide and enveloped both Hana and Fabrizio in a playful, brotherly hug.

"I'm aching for a juice," he declared with dramatic flair, his voice cutting through the quiet. "Who's with me?"

Without missing a beat, Hana and Fabrizio responded in perfect unison:

"Me!"

Laughing, the trio turned away from the dock, the sun shining brightly overhead and the salty breeze tugging at their hair, they headed toward the nearest café, ready to enjoy a refreshing break —and perhaps, a moment of peace before the next adventure.

Friday Morning, 21st of May 2010 - Ohashi Riverside

The gentle rustling of leaves and the soft gurgle of the river accompanied Nanako as she walked along the riverside path, supported by a crutch. Her mother, Touka, strolled beside her, keeping a watchful but relaxed eye. It was a perfect spring afternoon, with a crisp breeze swirling leaves through the air.

After a while, Nanako paused near a wooden bench shaded by a maple tree. "Let's rest here for a bit, Mom."

Her mother nodded. "Good idea. You've been walking quite a lot."

They sat down, enjoying the tranquil scenery. Nanako stretched her leg carefully, exhaling as she felt the ache ease a bit.

Just then, a familiar voice called out, bright and unmistakable.

"Nanako-chan?"

Nanako looked up, her eyes widening in surprise. There, standing a few feet away, dressed in a neat convenience store uniform with a nametag that read Minori Kushieda, was Minori herself.

"Minori-chan!" Nanako exclaimed, delighted.

Minori jogged over, her ever-sunny smile lighting up her face. "I thought that was you! It's been forever!"

Nanako laughed, feeling a wave of warmth. "It really has! You work at the store now?"

Minori adjusted her cap proudly. "Yep! Part-time manager at the convenience store just down the street." She winked playfully. "I'm working here to save up for university fees. Classes aren't cheap, but hey, hard work pays off!"

Nanako's eyes lit up. "You're studying at university too? That's amazing, Minori-chan! What are you majoring in?"

"Sports Science and Physical Education," Minori declared with pride. "I'm aiming to become a professional trainer or maybe even a coach someday. Helping people reach their potential—it's what I love."

Nanako smiled warmly. "That sounds perfect for you. You've always been so driven."

Minori grinned. "It's tough juggling work and school, but I'm hanging in there. One day, I'll look back and say it was all worth it."

Nanako nodded, admiration clear in her eyes. "I know you will. You've always been unstoppable."

Minori's phone buzzed suddenly, making her glance at the screen. Her eyes widened. "Oh no! My break's almost over!"

She turned but hesitated, softening her expression. "It was so good seeing you. Let's catch up properly soon, okay?"

"Absolutely!" Nanako beamed.

With a cheerful wave, Minori jogged back toward the convenience store, leaving Nanako and her mother watching fondly.

Touka smiled thoughtfully. "She's a wonderful young woman."

Nanako nodded, her heart lighter than it had been in days. "She really is."

The, her eyes drifted to the other side of the riverside, where a small crowd had gathered around a street performer playing a soft, melodic tune on his guitar. His fingers danced effortlessly across the strings, his music echoing through the cool morning air. The rhythm felt calming, and the sound was beautiful, but something about it made Nanako's thoughts wander.

Fabrizio…

She thought of all the times he had played for her and their friends—his guitar gently filling the air, his voice carrying a warmth that always seemed to soothe whatever worries they had. Whether it was a quiet evening at his apartment or a day spent out on the beach, his music was a part of every happy memory she had with him.

The way he sang. The way he played. His presence, comforting and sincere.

But in that moment, her phone vibrated in her pocket, pulling her back to reality. She quickly pulled it out, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the name on the screen.

Fabrizio.

A nervous excitement bubbled up inside her, and she opened the message without a second thought.

Fabrizio: Good morning, Nanako-chan. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner... I've been thinking a lot. About you... about us. You're right—when you come back, I'll be ready to say those eight letters. No more doubts. No more holding back. Thank you for believing in me... in us.

Nanako stared at the screen, rereading the words as tears welled in her purple eyes. A soft gasp escaped her lips, and before she knew it, tears of joy streamed down her face.

Her mother, noticing her trembling shoulders, gently placed a hand on hers. "Nanako? Are you alright?"

Nanako nodded through her happy tears, her voice shaky but filled with a deep, radiant joy.

"Yes… more than alright."

Her mother gently touched her hand. "Was it from... him?"

Nanako nodded, still glowing with joy. "Yes... and he finally said what I needed to hear."

With that, Nanako set her phone down, letting the music of the street performer wash over her as she looked out over the riverside, knowing that the future, with all its uncertainties, was now filled with something brighter—something she could finally hold on to.

Friday Morning, 21st of May 2010 - Naha

Meanwhile, in Naha, Fabrizio took a long sip from his drink, his gaze drifting toward the sparkling ocean in the distance. A contented smile tugged at the corners of his lips, his eyes shimmering with quiet joy.

Hana, noticing the change in his demeanor, leaned forward with a smirk. "Okay, spill it. What's with that dreamy smile?"

Hiroto chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah, you've been glowing since we left the terminal. What happened?"

Fabrizio shrugged, swirling the ice in his glass playfully. "Take a guess..." he teased, his voice light and carefree.

Hiroto and Hana exchanged knowing glances before laughing together. Whatever it was, they could see that Fabrizio's heart was lighter than ever.

The ocean breeze carried the sound of distant waves, blending with their laughter—a moment of peace, of hope, and of new beginnings.
