Chapter 7: Revelations
Ryuko woke up with her body and bed soaked with sweat and with every part of her body aching in pain. Peeling off the now drenched and sticky covers of her bed sheets, she stumbles into the bathroom to take a shower. Unfortunately standing was a very difficult thing for her to do, Which was evident by the fact that she almost fell. If it wasn't for the well-timed arrival of Izuku (who apparently was notified by Vega that she needed assistance) she would have fallen and probably hurt herself even more. It was embarrassing to have what was Rumi's husband whom she barely knew help her out of the shower and get dressed. But what was more embarrassing was the fact that he needed to carry her out to the kitchen table. It didn't help that Momo had watched the full escapade as she ate her food Which was pretty much a small Buffet. It seemed like the girl was extremely embarrassed about the fact that she needed to eat so much. But Ryuko did not mind since she ate just as much due to her quirk having given her a higher metabolism. Which seemed to be even more heightened after what happened yesterday. But it seemed that Izuku did not mind feeding her hungry stomach as he just constantly went at it in the kitchen. She would have to say though for somebody who doesn't eat Izuku was somehow a great cook.
When the two equally hungry girls that Izuku had at his table were finished. Izuku had brought them over to the lab to run some tests. It seemed that Izuku had already explained what happened to Momo since the second that they were done eating she had thanked her for doing this. Even though going through this was the most painful experience that she ever felt in her life. Ryuko did not mind in the slightest and was only glad that she was okay. But after a couple of minutes of Izuku running tests on the two the frown on Izuku's face only became deeper. Ryuko quickly noticed this so when he was looking over some data on a terminal she approached him and spoke up.
"Okay, what's the matter? you have been making that face ever since you started running tests on us. So is something wrong with Momo?" Ryuko asks in a whisper In the hopes of not worrying Momo.
" No there isn't. The procedure yesterday worked as intended. And the strain on her body is nearly non-existent. But that strain is going to eventually reach its peak again. But that's what we expected." Izuku said as he hovered over the monitor.
"Okay, then what's wrong with me." Ryuko asked with steel in her tone. She was not going to be Babied and if there was something wrong with her she needed to know.
"Do you know that strange immunity that we discovered in your cells? You see it wasn't an immunity or a resistance it was you adapting. I have only seen this type of cellular adaptation in only one species before." Izuku said before pausing not sure if he should Continue. But Ryuko needed to know and she was not going to take no for an answer. So with a deep breath and after she steeled herself, she spoke up.
"What species was that." Ryuko asked with the same steel and certainty in her tone as before. Izuku looked at her, and into her eyes in an attempt to figure out if she was truly ready. And after seeing the resolve in them, he let out a long sigh and only said one word that ended up freezing Ryuko to her core.
"Demons."
UA Principal Nezu's Office
Rumi sat Across from her father in his office along with the deflated form of All Might, Recovery Girl, and Detective Tsukauchi. They were there because apparently Recovery Girl was not Supposed to tell her and her husband about the existence of OFA, which she found stupid. Yeah, she could have said it was a state secret but it was better to let them know what was happening to her. Her thoughts were drawn back to the conversation since her father was done giving Recovery Girl a tongue-lashing And had started to address her.
"Rumi I hope you understand how important to keep this secret is." Nezu says in a Stern tone That really Annoyed her.
"*Scoff* I don't know what the big deal is. If she hadn't told us, we would have figured it out anyway, since we were going to examine her, with or without your permission, And with our equipment It would only take us a week to figure it out. Although it's good that she did tell us since only a month is shaved off her life span instead of a couple of years. Hell if we had to figure it out on our own within the week she'd be no longer capable of being a hero. If anything you should be praising her for making a good call. Because we just saved her career and gave us more time to save her life. Plus I don't know what the big deal is since she cannot transfer the quirk anymore." Rumi said annoyed at her father. This caused All Might to cough up blood at the realization that one for all could no longer be transferred and that Momo's life was seriously at risk because of his fuck up.
"The issue has nothing to do with the outcome. It's about her breaking our Trust. Are you not concerned about her breaking her word again?" Nezu asks as he raises an eyebrow.
"A bit. But unless she's a good liar I'm pretty sure she's going to die before revealing any secrets about Argent energy that we imparted to her." Rumi said with a shrug of her shoulders
"Wait you told her about Argent energy?" All Might Ask confused.
"Yeah, we did. We also told Ryuko and Momo." Rumi said like there was no big deal.
"Wait! What about keeping it a secret? Why didn't you tell us or Sir Nighteye when he asked?" All Might Ask dumbfounded.
"Oh, that's an easy one. One I don't know you or the detective. Two it was obvious that Sir Nighteye was going to weaponize the shit out of it which would have doomed the world. I'm positive that my father would research everything on this subject which could cause unforeseen consequences that I or my husband cannot risk. As for the reasons I told them is simple. I trust Ryuko with my life and Momo deserves to know since it was her life at risk. Plus we're going to need a doctor signing off on these experimental treatments. So we needed to Tell at least somebody in that profession and Recovery Girl seemed like the best candidate." Rumi said seriously. Which just caused All Might to look at her slack-jawed.
"You honestly believe that Sir Nighteye would have weaponized argent energy?" Detective Tsukauchi asked with his eyebrow raised.
"Yes, I do. Me and my husband have been to various different dimensions and he meets the criteria of those types of people who would gladly weaponize argent energy if it came down to it. It also doesn't help that he's been following me and my husband since we left UA the first time. He even has his sidekick Bubble Girl outside of UA at the moment. As well as somebody right outside our house who's been attempting to listen in to our conversations. Sucks for him since there is an audio dampener in the house as well as very advanced jamming equipment and a shield array to prevent any eavesdroppers. Hell, he even disclosed our last conversation to Hawks who apparently works for the HPSC in an attempt to get them on his side too Somehow 'deal with me and my husband.' So tell me why should I trust a man who believes Me and my husband are a threat to society as a whole?" Rumi said shocking the room.
All Might Looked towards Tsukauchi for confirmation of her words, And he nodded his head in confirmation. Nezu even looked up security cameras that were outside of UA and spotted Bubble Girl across the street in civilian garb sitting on a bench with a clear view of the entrance. And after Nezu showed everybody All Might let out a long sigh before speaking up
"I knew Sir Nighteye had problems but this. *sigh* I would like to apologize Mrs. Usagiyama for his actions." All Might said as he bowed his head
"One, don't apologize for somebody else's actions. Two, it's either Miss Slayer or Mrs. Midoria I'm married so it's inappropriate to use my maiden name. Now back on to topic, pops I assume that you have already arranged a meeting with Momo's parents." Rumi said and when Nezu nodded his head in confirmation she continued.
"Good. Well, you're going to need to notify them, that until we have her situation solved she's going to need to stay at my place so we can constantly monitor her. My husband will be the one doing all the monitoring. He will also be looking for a solution or cure for young Momo. In fact, it's already been 3 days and he has not stopped in his efforts. Luckily for you and us, he does not require food or sleep, and knowing him he will probably have it done within a month or so. But that's if something freaky doesn't happen." Rumi said seriously.
"I do not know if they can accept that, perhaps if you move on to UA it could-" Nezu says before being cut off by his daughter.
"I'm going to stop you right there pops. There is no way I am moving onto your campus. Especially since we just unpacked and installed everything back at home. And because of that my home is most likely the most secure place on the planet at the moment. Plus there's no way I'm going to have you breathing over my shoulder every 5 Seconds. Now You're going to make it work. Because if you can't you're going to have one dead kid on your hands or something worse. You're also going to tell Momo's parents about this one for all quirk or I will. after all, it's their daughter's life in danger because of said quirk." Rumi said seriously before walking out of the room.
3 Days Later At The Slayer's Apartment
Momo sat there across from her parents and right next to Ryuko, While Izuku was in the kitchen cooking dinner. They were currently talking to Vega who was explaining the situation to them. He did not tell them much about Argent energy, only that it was a very volatile and harmful substance that if there was too much in the body could cause serious damage. And to say that her parents were terrified for their daughter was an understatement. If it wasn't for the reassurance from Nezu And All Might who had prostrated himself in front of them after explaining what happened to their daughter. they probably would have taken Momo to someone else. It also seemed to help that Ryuko was there, who ended up staying at their place. Eventually, Izuku started Rolling out a small Buffet of food which shocked Momo's parents. Serving everybody their food they were even more shocked to see how much Momo had on her plate. Deciding to voice it Yana Yaoyorozu (momo's mother) spoke up.
"Isn't that a bit much for my daughter?" Yana Yaoyorozu Raised an eyebrow. Izuku who had his helmet off at the moment looked at her in confusion Before speaking up.
"No, Her heightened metabolism due to her quirk requires her to eat at least Three times as much as a normal person per meal. Why? have you been feeding her less?" Izuku asked confused.
"Yes, we've been feeding her less than this we were told by our dietary expert that our current meal plan works perfectly for her. Here, I think I have it on my phone, so let me show you." Fukusone Yaoyorozu (Momo's Father) said as he showed Izuku his phone. Looking over it Izuku could see the problem.
"Ahh, yes, I can see the problem This diet is meant for a civilian lifestyle, not a heroic one. With her current workout regimen and quirk training. She needs A lot more calories and fat stores for her to maintain her health. I would also recommend during quirk training you have a high-calorie nutrient bar with you. If you want exact numbers I can have Vega whip them up for you or I could refer you to Recovery Girl Who I have been Consulting with on your daughter's case." Izuku says as he hands back the phone.
"If you can give us those numbers as soon as possible we will be grateful. However, I do have to ask how much weight she needs to put on just in case I need to get her some garments that would fit her properly." Yana Yaoyorozu asked. And within the second that she asked that question her phone pinged with the dietary plan that she asked for. Yana was quickly pulled out of her shock though due to izuku speaking up.
"Considering a girl of her age should be around 130, her average should be 150 to 160. But definitely no lower than 140. Keep in mind once she starts UA those 30 extra pounds are going to be removed pretty quickly when she uses her quirk during training. My wife who's going to be in charge of that training is going to be pushing her and her fellow students pretty hard. And once she starts her Hero work she might actually want to put on an extra 10lb depending on her caseload." Izuku says as he puts another helping of food on Ryuko's plate Who appears to be eating as much as Momo.
That made sense to the two parents but before they could ask another question the device that was attached to Momo's arm started to beep. It was the same device that was put on there to monitor her argent energy levels. Looking at the device and over the readings izuku could not help the frown that went over his face.
"Ryuko it looks like we're going to need to do another session. Vega Set everything up for another transfer." Izuku says as he starts guiding Momo into the lab This shocked the two parents.
"Wait what's happening to Momo?" Yana asked worried.
"The Argent energy levels have reached the peak where we need to siphon It Off. This is why she needs to be here at all times the frequency that we need to siphon It Off is quite frequent and quite frankly hard to predict. Don't worry we'll simply be siphoning it off into Ryuko who has way more resistance to Argent energy due to her quirk. It should only take 20 minutes, so why don't you finish your food and will be Right back." Izuku says as he enters the lab with Momo and Ryuko.
As the transfer happened Izuku went over the scans of Momo. Looking Through OFA's Quirk Factor, he tries to look for a Solution. Normally he would have simply made a containment device to store all the Argent energy. But that much concentrated Argent energy wouldn't not just be dangerous it could be used by the demons to lock on to this Dimension a lot more easily. At least dumping it into somebody else's system allows the energy to be expended and dissipated without attracting unwanted demons to this dimension. But he also knew this could not last forever. Zooming in on OFA's quirk factor he examines the link that connects to her DNA. Specifically, the Connecting Point that was designed to disconnect and transfer it to another person.
The damaged connection May prevent another transfer. But this could be the key to this problem. Perhaps he could fully disconnect it and then eliminate it. Since it was already designed to be disconnected it should not cause any genetic damage to Momo. Although he would have to be extremely careful when doing it. However, he will have to make preparations and do a bunch more calculations which should take another 2 weeks before he can attempt such a procedure. But it seems that this is the only way that could save her life.
Getting a ping on his monitor that the transfer was done, he disconnected Momo and Ryuko. After Allowing Momo to return to her parents he picked up Ryuko and carried her into her room. As he did this he could not help but see the painful expression on her face. It reminded him too much of the time when Rumi had to go through something similar. This site only cemented the fact that he needed to work even harder to fix Momo's condition. He just hopes that Ryuko could hold out A little longer.
