AN: Story's Shadow and I are back. What Story's Shadow wrote was so perfect here, I decided to wait to write the news reveal until next chapter. Trust me, his part set up my next part perfectly. Unto the show my friend.
-Central Park, A Few Minutes Earlier-
Metatron pushed the punch from Quake to the side as he blocked another. The Wolf slipped around her roundhouse kick, moving through the bushes. The Inhuman agent grunted as she struggled past the same bush. She shouted as she lunged forward, throwing a haymaker. But the Wolf moved around her attack, jumping to the side as Quake's fist nearly hit a tree. She gasped as she pulled back and turned to Metatron, who leapt back from the haymaker from America..
The heroine grunted as she swung both fist fiercely, but the Wolf continued to move around the attacks. His head moved out of the strike paths. America's aggressive focus shifted into surprise as she could only watch as Metatron pushed aside her or dodged and Quake's attacks. The Wolf leapt back and away from a simultaneous kick from America and punch form Quake.
The two young women shared a look for surprise as they panted. The Wolf simply stared back, waiting. Quake and America grunted as they rushed forward. The Wolf slipped under from America as she flew forward then slid away from Quake's roundhouse kick. Metatron then ducked under the strike from another opponent. He watched as Vixen landed on the ground in front of him. Her ear's popped up at this then flattened as she rushed forward with a snarl.
Vulpine leaned against a nearby tree, watching the training session unfold, with Steve Rogers standing a few feet away. The super soldier had personally requested Metatron and his students help the young heroes in training. His eyebrows lifted up every now and then as he watched the Wolf spar with the three young heroines, impressed by the old Wolf. The Fox looked from the super soldier back to the sparring session, knowing how this would unfold.
Iron Heart grunted as she swung a clumsy punch at Jacob who simply stepped out of the way. The armored heroine gasped then grumbled as she rushed forward again. She threw a kick forward, but the Hedgehog grabbed her leg before pushing it aside. Ms. Marvel shouted as she rushed forward, throwing a flurry of punches at the Hedgehog. Jacob, though, continued to slid back across the grass and out of her attack range even when Ms. Marvel's limbs lengthened or enlarged. The young Inhuman leapt forward, her legs stretched as to pull her closer.
Ghost Spider grunted as she leapt from one tree to another, grunting as she followed Cassie. The Cat grinned back at the young arachnid heroine as she stayed at least one step or leap ahead of her. Ghost Spider grunted as she lunged forward, throwing out a roundhouse kick only for Cassie to dive under the attack and spun a little before landing on another branch. Ghost Spider's eyes went wide as she watched this. Her spidey sense went off and she quickly maneuvered herself to land on the same tree.
Cassie grinned at her as leapt past her. Ghost Spider turned to see the Cat land on the ground and dodge the punch from Inferno. She chuckled as she evaded his strikes, her hands behind her back. Cassie seemed to practically dance around his attack. Inferno's eye were wide as his punches and kicks hit only air and the Cat chuckle as she continued to evade his attacks.
Metatron looked around to see his and his student's opponents grunting and panting, some struggling to stand up. Vixen grunted, her ears drooped as she looked up at the Wolf. The Wolf turned to catch the eye of the Cat and the Hedgehog, to which he nodded and both. They turned and bowed to the Wolf. The Secret Warriors turned their gaze from them to the Wolf. Meta nodded to the Secret Warriors, their training complete for the day (some of whom walked over to below a tree where water bottles laid waiting for them). Steve Rogers watched from the sidelines with a smile and nodded, the Wolf nodded back. The super soldier walked over and shook Meta's hand.
"Thank you for accepting my request."
"I was a little uncertain if they'd accept as well. Some seemed hesitant to take instruction from me and my students. I am most uncertain with the young Fox. I sense she's still lost amongst the revelation about the Clone, her history of being adopted and raised by another race in another realm, and I believe the struggle with her identity and heritage as a Faunian."
Steve nodded.
"Regardless, I believe your guidance and the guidance of your two students will help them all and us."
Metatron slowly nodded. He then his eyes turned to one side before returning to Steve.
"Cursing spies won't, given their words regarding me students and I and some of your nonhuman students."
Steve sighed as he turned to the bushes.
"I noticed someone was watching a few moments ago, I didn't know about what they were saying."
"I will leave you to them, given at they are speaking in disbelief about the two of us talking."
Steve nodded and walked over to the bushes and dragged out two young men, who gasped in cursed with wide eyes.
Metatron turned to see Jacob walking over with Vulpine. The Hedgehog sighed.
"I still hesitate with this sensei. Yet, I understand our need to learn about this realm more."
The Wolf nodded and turned to Vulpine.
"You've been among this world's people longer than us. After Stalker's capture we have secluded ourselves and didn't take time to learn of this world and how it works. What can you tells us so far?"
"Earth is...complicated. To focus on the present and this country we're in, their leader is a member of a political group. His name is Carter Langford, a 'Republican' is what they're called. This country's people view moderately favorable with opponents in both his party and the other, they're called 'Democrats'. From what I've heard and studied, he acts more than speaks though he doesn't shy from the latter. He also worships a single deity, the one that is the most commonly worshipped in this realm."
"How did he become their leader?"
"Votes, with a fair few more votes his opponent in their bid to become leader."
"Similar to how different rulers of Faunia came to power, though not these people aren't rulers."
Vulpine nodded.
"In some ways, yes. There's still some divide between these people and these 'officials' still struggle with some not compromising in various scenarios. Certain other high ranking officials also do sometimes find themselves in confrontation with this 'president'."
Metatron tuned to Jacob.
"It would seem that this place isn't as prepared for invasion."
The Hedgehog shook his head.
"And given the way the people of this world view us and others that don't match in appearance or ability to the common folk...there's a lack of chance of unity."
The Wolf sighed.
"It would take time that we don't have."
Metatron shook his head.
"I hope the young Fox and her weapon can shift the balance."
Vulpine nodded, ears dropped.
"...Yeah..."
Vixen rested against a tree that was farther from the others...and from Vulpine. She sighed as she drank from the water bottle before placing it down. The young Fox sighed as her head rested against the tree though her face showed no or little signs of relaxation or rest. She looked up to see Cassie sitting down beside her. The Cat turned to her.
"You've been very drained of energy this past month."
"Y-Yeah...it's been...difficult."
"Because of the Cl-...Because of Vulpine?"
Vixen's ears dropped.
"...You can call him clone...I don't blame you..."
"Imperious fooled all of us...I hope those who've passed on realized the truth of it all...the original Vulpine wasn't a traitor..."
"...I just wish I knew before..."
"Before you trusted him...or before the two of you became...passionate?"
Vixen's eyes perked up and her eyes widened as she turned to the Cat.
"H-How did you-?"
Cassie gently shushed her.
"Desire is hard for even a Fox to hide...though given your history, you haven't learned a lot of your line's tricks."
"Oh."
The Cat sighed.
"Passion is a beautiful thing. Maybe if Faunia hadn't been ravaged and the false Dragon had fallen...maybe you could've been raised there...in your home...or your ancestral home...A gift from the pantheon...I don't know what you were raised to believe in...but I feel that the gift from the goddess of desire and war still called to you."
Vixen remained silent.
"To embrace passion with the clone...that is something I can't imagine...I'm so sorry you didn't learn sooner."
"...Us hunting you didn't help..."
Cassie sighed.
"I know what that passion means...how it feels..."
"...Because of your daughter?..."
Cassandra nodded, her ear drooping.
"...I loved my little girl...I just wished how she came about had happened differently."
"Huh?"
"I know the two of you are the last of the Fox line...and I'm not certain about you feelings...you just must understand how you feel and what may or may not happen. I know you aren't pregnant...I just thought you should consider what your future might like...I wish I'd have had my girl at a time and scenario that would've been better suited for the both of us..."
"I'm not...passionate anymore..."
"That isn't what I meant."
"What?"
"Passion shouldn't be discouraged or denied...just know that doing so you should know what can happen. As beings who is truly defined by and connected with other instincts and desires...a woman must simply be careful and cunning of how she enjoys the gift of the goddess."
Vixen rubbed the back of her neck, sighing. Cassie was quiet for a moment or so before she spoke again.
"I felt that I would never enjoy passion again after my girl was taken...fearing such a thing would happen again...but in time I learned that such fear and dread shouldn't keep one from living their life and embracing what is good."
"...I don't know if I want to..."
Cassie rested a hand on Vixen's shoulder, a small smile on her face.
"Just understand that one's passion is a part of who they are...it's just the case with the women of the Cat and Fox lines, our gift of such cunning and through understanding of our places in life help shape us into happier people."
Vixen smile slightly and nodded.
The communicators of the group went off and they gathered around one another. Quake's eyes narrowed.
"Director Fury wants us to meet at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, it's about Imperious."
The other nodded.
-Secret Warriors' Base, Present-
Doreen and Rayshaun made their way out of the base, in civilian clothes with their gear in backpacks. They were heading to meet the others at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. From an alleyway close by, the Dragon Emperor's assassin watched from around a corner as he grinned.
AN: Next Chapter even more will be revealed. Until then, see you next time.
