The final battle had come.

All four kingdoms (well, two and a half, since Vale and Atlas had been destroyed and all that were left were refugees, and Menagerie didn't quite count much to Blake's frustration) were united to take the fight to Salem in the Land of Darkness. Team RWBY and their allies, stronger than ever, had penetrated Salem's castle, fought their way through endless hordes of Grimm, defeated her remaining lieutenants, and had come at last face to face with the immortal witch...

Who looked only mildly annoyed. "Oh no, a group of young brave heroes has penetrated my inner sanctum and defeated my armies, whatever shall I do?" she asked, sounding bored.

"It's over, Salem! You've got nothing left! Your allies are gone, the Grimm all but routed, and you-" Ruby shouted.

"Are still more than enough to defeat all of you. You think this is the first time anyone's ever gotten this far? I suppose Ozma kept this from you as well. Sure, you've derailed my plans. But I'm completely immortal," Salem reminded them. "And unless you've found a way to deal with that - and I KNOW you haven't - this is a futile, pointless battle. Even IF you can destroy all the Grimm spawning pools - and that's a big if - all I have to do is slip away, lay low for a few thousand years until everyone but Ozma's forgotten about me, then start over. This is far from the first time."

"If you think we're going to just let you get away with everything you've done-" Weiss started angrily.

"'Let?' Child, I'm not really giving you a choice in the matter," Salem drawled. "You will fight me. You will fail. And I will survive. I will ALWAYS survive," she said bitterly. "There is no escape from this endless torment, not even the power of silver eyes. Not even your mother managed, and she certainly tried, Ruby Rose."

Ruby froze, and Yang clenched her teeth in anger. "...What happened to my mother, really? Raven REFUSES to tell us, Ozpin doesn't know, and it'll be a hundred years before Jinn can answer any more questions."

Salem's expression softened a fraction. "Your mother, Summer Rose...are you certain you wish to know this tale? It will not bring you happiness or closure," she warned her.

"Ruby, we don't have to do this, she's probably gonna lie-" Yang started.

"I've been waiting almost my entire life for answers...and you're going to give them to me!" Ruby insisted, ignoring her sister.

Salem sighed "Very well...it all began 13 years ago..."

Salem sat in her throne room, reading the newspaper. Her favorite team had lost again, she'd have to send Grimm to kill them all, what a bother. She sighed. "I'm bored. I wish I could die."

Suddenly, Summer Rose kicked down the doors, accompanied by a very anxious Raven Branwen...several feet behind. "Wish granted! Eat silver death eye beamz! PEW PEW!"

And then she vaporized Salem with a giant fucking laser beam.

"Okay, there's no way that happened," Weiss protested.

"No, no, that sounds just like Mom," Yang insisted, Ruby nodding in agreement.

"...Of course it does," Weiss groaned, Blake patting her sympathetically on the shoulder.

"Holy shit, you killed her," a shocked Raven said.

Summer laughed. "Ha! And Oz made it sound like it would be hard! I don't know why nobody tried this ages ago!"

"They did."

Salem finished regenerating. She did not look happy.

Summer gulped. "...Ah. Um. Okay, Raven, time for Plan B. Raven?"

There was a whoosh and a snap as Raven vanished through a portal.

Summer sighed. "Okay, you know what, that's on me for expecting any different from her."

Salem rose from her throne, dark power swirling around her. "You have made a grave error coming here. What do you call herself, Silver-Eyed Warrior?"

"My name is Summer...Summer Rose!" Summer declared, drawing Sundered Rose, ready to fight to the last.

Salem stiffened. "Wait...Rose?"

Summer blinked. "Yeah, what of it?"

Salem's eyes widened and began to water. "...Mommy?"

"MOMMY?!" RWBY shouted.

"Yes," Salem mumbled, looking embarrassed. "It turns out Summer Rose is actually the reincarnation of the legendary Grandmaster of the Order of the Holy Rose, Freyla Rose, the closest thing to a mother I ever had back in the age of magic."

"You're KIDDING," an incredulous Weiss cried.

"Oh no, I'd never lie about this," Salem insisted. "I was actually friends with all of you in your past lives, you were all great heroes, just like now. Well. You were greater and vastly more successful then. I mean, the four of you are pale shadows compared to your predecessors, and even that's a stretch-"

"That's ridiculous! Why would any version of us have ever been friends with you?!" Blake demanded.

"I wasn't ALWAYS a humanoid abomination bent on destroying everything including myself. I wanted to SAVE humanity from the gods, and so did you," Salem insisted. "And considering how little it took to convince them to wipe out humanity and leave me to rot while they took off forever, I think we had the right idea."

There was a pause as they considered that.

"I guess she sorta has a point," Yang admitted.

"Why's Ozpin trying to bring them back again?" Ruby wondered.

"Wait, why did he never mention this past life thing before?" Weiss demanded.

"Because it's Ozpin," Blake said flatly.

"...Good point."

"Anyway, I reacted to our reunion with the appropriate amount of maturity and composure," Salem continued.

"MO-HO-MY! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" Salem wailed, sobbing on an incredibly disturbed Summer's shoulder. "I'VE BEEN SO ALO-HO-HONE! AND OZ TOOK THE KIDS AND THEY DIED AND-AND I HAD NOTHING LEFT BUT REVENGE AND LONGING FOR DEAAAAATH!"

"There, there," Summer muttered, awkwardly patting her on the back.

Everyone stared.

"Wow," Blake said.

"Not, uh, my proudest moment," an embarrassed Salem muttered.

"So...what happened then? Did you kill her?" Ruby demanded sharply.

"What? No! Of course not!" Salem stammered, shocked. "I was just reunited with the reincarnation of the closest thing I've ever had to a mother, I would never!"

"Then what happened to her? Why didn't she come home?!" Yang demanded.

"Well..."

"Look, uh, this has been...an experience, but I kinda need to go home, my kids and husband are waiting on me, and since Raven's not picking up my calls it looks like I'll need to take the long way," Summer said awkwardly, trying to excuse herself.

"Great! I'll come with you! I'd love to meet my sisters and daddy!" Salem said eagerly.

Summer stared at her blankly."...Sure."

"Wait, you were going to move in with us?!" Yang demanded incredulously.

"I was gonna have an even bigger sister?!" Ruby gasped.

"Really, that's what you got from that?" an incredulous Weiss asked.

"Unfortunately, it was not to be," Salem lamented. "You see, on the way home, Summer got hit by a truck."

They stared.

"A...truck," Blake said after a moment.

"Yes," Salem said. "And the oddest thing is we were in the Land of Darkness, and there aren't even roads. She died instantly despite her Aura, and I vowed to destroy all trucks in the world, so figured I'd destroy the world while I was at it because it would be the most efficient way to get them all. And that's why I made extra sure to destroy Atlas so thoroughly, since they produced more trucks than anywhere else in Remnant! ESPECIALLY the SDC!"

Weiss facepalmed. "Of fucking course it's my father's fault."

"...Sure. That...makes sense," Yang said slowly.

"So that's it? All that, and she just gets hit by a random truck and DIES?!" Ruby cried.

"I told you you would find no joy from this tale," Salem said somberly. "I tell you this, though: if I were to see your mother again, I would give up everything for her. I would even call off my campaign against mankind." Her eyes glowed as she gathered power. "For her sake, I shall spare your lives, but I shall destroy all the others you have gathered against me. Now, prepare yourselves for the fight of your lives!"

Team RWBY tensed, ready for a fight unlike any other...

When suddenly there was a flash of light and suddenly a gorgeous woman looking like an older and hotter Ruby in white and red armor with a flowing red cloak and a mighty axe appeared, smelling of roses as petals billowed around her. "At last...I'm back on Remnant!"

"MOM?!" Yang and Ruby cried.

"MOMMY!" Salem squealed in delight.

"Oh no, I forgot about you," Summer moaned just before her three daughters glomped her. "Wait, Yang?! RUBY?! What are you doing here?! And...how long was I gone?!"

"13 years!" Yang sobbed. "13 fucking years! We had nobody but each other!"

"What about your father and uncle?" Summer stammered.

"I repeat: nobody but each other!"

"Where were you?! I have so many mommy issues and trauma! Salem said you were DEAD!" Ruby demanded.

"That's right, I saw you die with my own eyes!" Salem bawled.

"When I got hit by the truck I was transported to another world-" Summer started.

"The Ever After?!" Weiss gasped.

"What? No, that's just a story," Summer said, oblivious to how RWBY's eyes all twitched at that. "No, I wound up in some generic fantasy world where I got roped into saving the kingdom from a demon king, got ridiculously OP, hooked up with a lot of sexy ladies - they'll be along in a bit - and beat the shit out of the local gods until they agreed to send me home," Summer said.

Blake gasped, eyes shimmering. "Just like in my light novels..."

"Also who are you?" Summer asked the unfamiliar faces.

"Uh, Weiss Schnee, your daughter's partner," Weiss said, awkwardly curtsying. "Your daughter's told me a lot about you."

"And I'm Blake Belladonna, your other daughter's partner," Blake said. "And fiance."

Summer gasped in delight. "Oh! Wonderful! I didn't make it back too late to miss the wedding!"

"No, you just missed out on your daughters growing up and Salem destroying at least half the world," Weiss said.

Summer scowled at Salem. "Salem!"

"I thought you were gone again! I was so angry! I'm sorry Mommy!" Salem wept.

Summer sighed. "We'll talk about this when we get home...wait, do we still have a home?"

Ruby and Blake nodded.

"Great, then we'll go there, yell at Tai and Qrow for negligence, maybe kill Ozpin for letting things get this bad and roping you into his war-" Summer started.

"He already died and is now possessing a farmboy," Ruby said helpfully.

"Of course he did. Give him a strict talking to, then..." Summer's eyes narrowed. "But first things first. Yang, where's your sorry excuse for a birth mother?"

Yang's eyes lit up gleefully.

When Raven felt a connection she'd long thought lost forever snap back into place, she felt joy unlike ever before.

Followed by absolute terror.

She had to run, she had to get out of here before she got her hands on her...her soft, strong hands that felt so good as they massaged her muscles or carded through her hair or strangled her neck-

Wait, what-

"SLAVE."

Raven's red orbs locked onto Summer's, silver and burning with fury.

She'd never been so terrified. And aroused.

"Mistress," Raven whimpered, instinctively reverting to old training. "Y-you're back. I missed you so much-"

"You. Abandoned. Me," Summer hissed, livid. "AGAIN."

Raven laughed weakly. "A-at least I was consistent in character?"

Summer's hands tightened. Raven moaned. If she killed her now she'd die happy.

But of course, Summer would not grant her such relief. "You have been a very. VERY. Bad girl. And you know what happens to bad girls, slave?"

"They get punished?" Raven asked meekly, both dreading and looking forwards to the torment to come.

Summer narrowed her eyes. "Ab. So. Lute. Ly."

Raven couldn't help squealing.

Yang stared at the huge birdcage Raven, wearing a slutty bird costume, was locked in, chained to a perch. "Do...do I want to know?"

"No," Summer said.

"I honestly forgot we still had this! The things you forget to throw out," Tai mused ruefully.

"We still have Qrow's?" Summer asked.

"I'm sure it's in there somewhere. Mine too!"

"Good, you're both going to spend a long time in there for dropping the ball with the kids," Summer said.

Tai shrugged. "Fair enough."

"WAIT WHAT," Yang exclaimed.

Ruby reached through the cage and poked Raven's face with a cracker repeatedly. "Birdie wanna cracker?"

"...Yes, Birdie would," Raven muttered, eating the cracker.

"I'm so happy to have a family again!" Salem gushed, hugging Ruby from behind.

"Gah!" Ruby squawked. "Uh, about that, I know Mom's adopted you, and you're ordering your Grimm to fix everything up, but you killed a LOT of people and committed tons of crimes against humanity-"

"Oh please, Ozma's done more," Salem said dismissively. "Hey, little sis, would you like it if I helped you fix up your robot girlfriend?"

Ruby gasped and hugged Salem. "I love you, big sis!"

"It's so beautiful," Blake whispered, tearing up, as Yang just stared blankly.

Weiss moaned. "How is this my life?"

"You know you love it," Yang said.

"I DO NOT SHUT UP"
