Topic: Old fashion Nurse or New Cape?

So, my girlfriend and I went into the city on Saturday when we heard a car crash less than a block away. Some idiot ran a light, but we stood back and tried not to get in the way.
In the middle of all this, a nurse wearing an old-fashioned uniform appeared. The woman quickly checked on the guy who caused the mess but pretty much told her to go away. Then, she helped another driver who had a small kid in the back.
I haven't seen or heard about a new cape and wasn't really sure if she was one, but it seems a little early for Halloween. Thoughts?

I did a quick search, and you're right. That's an old nurse outfit. So, we have a new parahuman healer? That's a good thing, right?

Guylikesmaids I spoke to my grandma; her sister was a nurse back in World War II. That uniform is at least that old. Not sure what country.

I had been looking forward to the new Titanic musical and was surprised they were doing a two-night appearance here in Brockton Bay before they went to Boston. It was a great show, by the way, so I'll not spoil the ending.
What we didn't expect was to walk outside afterward to find a building a few blocks away on fire. Apparently, it must have been a big one, with four or five firetrucks blocking the middle of the street. It didn't look like we were going to go anywhere, so we sat back and watched.
Link, Link- photos of the fire
I am posting this here because I remembered reading about an old-fashioned nurse who showed up at a car accident. And wouldn't you know, she also appeared at the fire.
I blurred out her face. I mean, if she's a parahuman, shouldn't she put on a mask? Or maybe she's part of New Wave and just hasn't introduced herself.
Oh, and she had a cute ambulance, too.Link, Link

My sister works at the Fairburn Venue, and it took her forever to get home. She didn't see much of the fire, but one of the guys who snuck outside for a cigarette break said he noticed an old ambulance standing next to one of the fire trucks.

Wow, that's an old Austin K2/Y. It is a British heavy military ambulance based on the 38 Austin K30 30-cwt light truck. Did she show up driving it? I don't live anywhere near there, but I would love to see it.

Guylikesmaids, you were right; according to the news article, she calls herself Newfoundland. That seems kind of odd for a Parahuman name, but whatever.

My wife and I were at the musical too.
Managed to get a few photos. You can see the fire, and to the left, you can find the ambulance surrounded by a bunch of firefighters. None of her, unfortunately,

From what I overheard, she managed to pull two firefighters out of the burning building and take them to General.

OK, I am here with some updates.
I spoke with Lady Photon on the phone this morning, Glory Girl, so I can add a couple of things to that end.
A lot of this was already confirmed in the Brockton Bay Globe articlehere. I was at a wedding last night, so I missed much of what was happening, but I am catching up.
This is actually Newfoundland's third appearance on the streets of Brockton Bay. However, another source said she was not stationed there. It would be much appreciated if anyone could confirm that she had been seen in other cities.
As for her name, she gave it to a police officer on her first appearance.
Last night, a two-alarm fire was called in at 2230 hours EDT three blocks from the historic 1868 Fairburn Venue. Investigators are still working on it, but it started in a printing business.
Newfoundland appeared, not too long afterward, offering her assistance. She did, in fact, along with three firefighters, answer the call of two of their brothers trapped under a collapsed ceiling.
According to my sources, she entered without a mask or a fireproof jacket and was the first to enter. Newfoundland removed the burning debris by hand while the others pulled down the rest of the ceiling. She appeared to be unaffected by both the heat and the heavy smoke coming from the fire.
Afterward, she pulled the injured firefighters into another room and administered first aid before bringing both outside.
Three ambulances were ultimately called, but only two managed to make it, and it was long after Newfoundland left with her patients.
Her ambulance did 'just' appear. It is undetermined whether it is a projection, some tinker-tech, or something in between.
Once at Brockton Bay General Hospital, she met with Panacea, who quickly healed the two firefighters. Lady Photon confirmed an altercation between Newfoundland and one of the doctors but didn't say more. Other than she appreciated that she stood up for her niece.

I agree. Although I know nothing of the fire, I do know what happened afterward. I won't go into more detail, don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I know someone who works in the ER. She told me the doctors weren't doing their jobs, and Newfoundland tore them a new asshole on Panacea's behalf.

Holy shit! Did you see the news? My whole family is in shock.
They're going to clear up the Bay. I don't think I saw anywhere about anyone diving on the wrecks, but I guess no one bothers to look out the Bay anymore. If they can get shipping back up, it will turn around this city.

Wow, just wow. My dad knew Danny Hebert pretty well. When Isben laid off all of their workers ten years ago, he was able to get my dad a new job pretty quickly. Nice to see that someone's picking up his torch. Grandpa said he used to take the ferry to work, so looking forward to it.

The ferry, sure, but tons of other things too. I just read that they are looking to fix and improve the rail line coming into the city. Most of what goes into the docks is torn up. The rest of it is trashed. That in itself is going to put a lot of people to work.
Where do I sign up?

My dad spends his days laying nets with the fleet out of the north docks. He mentioned the other day that fishing has been better lately. Someone thought they might have been dredging the smaller channels. Has anyone heard about that?
BillyTime (Cape Husband)
Posted on September 10, 2009:
They can't do the main channel until the Saint Margret is cleared, but that makes sense. I bet the DWA has a bunch of ex-navy divers on their payroll doing most of the prep work.

When did they mention Parahumans?
AriPopper
Posted on September 10, 2009:
Oh, you sweet summer child, we have been raising wrecks from Poseidon's grasp long before the Romans. The US managed to raise most of the battleships sunk at Pearl Harbor to fight again without Parahuman's help. Do you think a bunch of freighters, no matter their size, will be more difficult than, say, the USS Oklahoma?
Glory Girl (Verified Cape)
Replied on August 31, 2009:
Also, no one said you couldn't volunteer. I spent most of the summer with one of my besties, tearing up the old wreck. The guys from the DWA would point out where they needed some doors removed, and bang, it's done.
It was also a great workout.
Still, the guys who sunk her knew what they were doing, so the DWA still has a lot of work to do before they can raise the wreck.
