"You better make sure your other brother doesn't cause any trouble for my girlfriend, or I don't know what I might do," Ye Hai said coldly, glaring at Mystique. With a slight squeeze of his hand, Mystique felt her bones creaking painfully, as if being cut by knives.
She hurriedly nodded and said, "I understand, I understand, Burton! Stay put and don't take any action!"
Burton was the third mutant, currently hiding in the control room of the Osborn building. Through the surveillance cameras in the underground parking garage, he could see everything clearly. Although he felt anxious, he had to wait in place after receiving Mystique's orders, watching helplessly as Gwen took the elevator down safely.
Soon, Gwen reached the building's second basement level and saw her holding hands with a beautiful woman. She frowned and asked, "Ye, what's wrong with this lady?"
Ye Hai smiled slightly and pointed in the direction of Sabretooth, saying, "Look over there!"
Gwen gasped at the sight of Sabretooth's condition and exclaimed, "What happened?"
Ye Hai chuckled, "Don't worry, it's all under control. Do you know Magneto? These two are his subordinates. They initially wanted to capture me for their research, but unfortunately for them, they didn't know I'm one of their brothers. Hehe!"
However, Gwen remained concerned, saying, "This is getting out of hand. There are cameras everywhere, and your identity is exposed."
Ye Hai shrugged nonchalantly. "So what if it's exposed? I have my ways."
Mystique smiled apologetically and said, "Don't worry, both of you. I'll make sure Burton deletes the video footage here; Dr. Ye's identity will definitely not be exposed. However, if Dr. Ye is worried about his situation, he can join our mutant brotherhood. It's made up entirely of mutants, so no one will reject, watch out for, or fear you..."
Ye Hai interrupted, "I'm doing just fine as I am. I don't want to get involved in anti-human activities. As I've said, I'm just interested in scientific research. If any strange experiments come up, we can collaborate."
"Okay, I'll report your intentions to the leader," Mystique nodded. "So, Dr. Ye, can you let us go now?"
"Of course." Ye Hai smiled as he took the syringe from Gwen's hand. "Just a little blood, and that will be enough."
Mystique's expression changed suddenly. "What do you intend to do?"
Ye Hai was momentarily taken aback, not expecting such a strong reaction from her. After thinking it over, he understood. If the X-Men series had indeed taken place in this world, then the government had been researching mutants for a long time. Mystique herself had been imprisoned and tortured as a test subject, witnessing many mutants being subjected to horrific experiments. It was understandable that she harbored a deep hatred for humans and had such extreme views.
Ultimately, she was a pitiful woman.
Feeling a hint of sympathy, Ye Hai spoke softly, "Don't worry. I'm a mutant. As a member of the mutant community, that's an unchangeable fact. So you don't have to worry about me conducting experiments that would betray mutants. I'm merely very interested in mutant genes and want to do some basic research. Who knows, I might uncover the secrets of mutants, allowing humanity to evolve together into mutants. We would all be brothers and sisters, there would be no more conflict... Haha!"
In the end, Ye Hai chuckled, knowing that his words were essentially a joke. Even if all of humanity became mutants, conflicts would persist; humans are inherently combative beings.
Mystique's expression softened, and she scoffed, "You're just a kid who's only read a few books. You dare talk about researching mutants? Many human scientists have struggled for half a century without results, do you think you can succeed?"
"Believe it or not, that's up to you," Ye Hai smiled slightly as he injected the syringe into Mystique's arm, feeling a rush of excitement as the syringe slowly filled with her blood.
After obtaining Mystique's blood, Ye Hai teleported next to Sabretooth, pulling him out from the wall. With a shake of his arm, Sabretooth awakened, letting out a threatening roar, his growl reminiscent of a tiger, living up to his name.
"Don't worry, little tiger. I just need a bit of blood!" Ye Hai said with a light chuckle.
"Roar!"
Sabretooth growled, swinging his long claws in a lightning-fast attack. Ye Hai merely brought his hands together, firmly gripping both of Sabretooth's arms. No matter how hard he struggled, Ye Hai tucked him under his arm and walked in front of Gwen.
"Gwen, help me draw some blood," Ye Hai smiled at his girlfriend.
"Okay," Gwen said, feeling somewhat intimidated by the beast-like Sabretooth, nervously trying to pierce the syringe into his arm.
Finally, Mystique jerked the syringe from Gwen's hand and plunged it forcefully into Sabretooth's vein. After drawing the blood, she glared at Ye Hai, a bit angry. "Now, can we leave?"
"Of course. Take care!" Ye Hai casually tossed Sabretooth aside.
The two mutants quickly jumped into their car and sped away.
Ye Hai excitedly gazed at the mutant blood in his hand; he could merge it with mutant genes.
