I own nothing

Chapter eight

(Hong Kong)

In the far rich mountains of Hong Kong lay the vast Shaolin Temple, with the mark of the Dragon wrapping around a lotus on its grounds.

There were monks training fiercely on the grounds of the temple, some monks were meditating on sharp objects and underneath waterfalls.

At the top of the Temple in an area surrounded by training equipment, statues, and flowers, a woman dressed in black monks garb, was on a tree branch, with a statue attached to it, with a cobra slithering onto the branch near her.

But the woman did not flinch, nor so any signs of breaking concentration, instead the woman locked eyes with the cobra and took a peculiar stance.

She stood on her right leg with her left leg moving in and out, up and down, in conjunction with her breathing, moving her arms inward and outward in a circular motion, then moved her upper body up and down, side to side. The cobra mimicked her action in perfect synchronization, never once taking its eyes off the woman.

"I will never understand, how are you able to do that...mother." a voice said

"You lack concentration, and you have a little too much of your father's arrogance Lin."

Lin merely chuckled

Her mother stopped her exercises and leaped off the branch effortlessly in front of her daughter.

"I'm sorry I don't have the patience of the great Zi Yuan." Lin quipped.

"As I've told you multiple times, patience big or little can make all the difference." Zi Yuan said.

"So what brings you this far out here my little lily? I thought you were flying to Singapore."

"My flight was canceled, apparently there's a storm coming over the ocean, and the White Lotus private jets are all undergoing maintenance."

"I see, well Mother Nature has always been as the Americans call "fickle" and unpredictable."

"I chalk it up to bad luck. Have you talked to Father at all? He's been more distant than usual." Lin replied as she and her mother began to walk and talk

"It is because of the Kwoon murders, your father and Liu Kang have been under serious scrutiny, and it has caused him unimaginable stress."

"And they still have no leads?" asked Lin.

"There's one lead, one of the more recent victims managed to ID the perp before he died, by way of writing in his own blood." her mother explained walking back inside the temple.

"Who was the victim?"

Zi Yuan sighed sadly and replied.

"Fan Cho."

Lin was in shock.

"What?! No not Fan Cho! He still owed me a spar! Who was his killer?"

"Baraka was the name. And the name seemed to have shaken up your father and Liu Kang."

"Do you think he knows the name from somewhere?"

"Indeed, although he never spoke too much of his past, I know for certain he knows that name."

The mother and daughter walked down the lower levels of the temples where the students were sparing with one another under the watchful eye of the instructors. Some were punching water., and others were training on Wing Chun dummies, upside down and right-side up. Students were training in perfect synchronization with various weapons, others were working on Chi control through intense meditation.

"How is Kitana holding up after the assassination attempt?" asked Lin.

"As well as expected, she is a steadfast, strong warrior. One assassination attempt among dozens she's had over the years isn't going to faze her in the slightest." her mother replied.

"Did they ever find out who put out the hit?"

"We have our suspicions; the Black Dragons have kept a close ear to the ground as well as our watchdogs. Whoever did it will try again."

"That's why the entire family is on alert."

"And Sindel? I heard there was a break-in at her home. Even more so she allowed it to happen."

"Overconfidence, hubris, those things turn inward towards the enemy are useful tools. Sindel planned for that event carefully."

"She always has a plan for everything. So what do we do in the meantime?"

"We prepare, we keep training, NERV will make their move soon. I have a hunch that the Chinese branch will be looking into our younger students, here in the temple."

"Are you certain about that?"

"I am, already they have some candidates on their watch list for when they come of age."

"We must protect them,"

"And we will."

(Back at Sindel's Manor)

"Are you certain Liu Kang?" Sindel asked from her position in the living room with Mileena sitting beside her on the couch her arms folded.

"Not completely, I merely caught a glimpse of energy in his hands. But as it stands his powers may be beginning to manifest." Liu Kang explained.

"Sindel we've seen this happen before with the other children. Some were early bloomers, few were late bloomers, and others showed no abilities. Although it seems that Shinji is the former than the latter."

"Yes, but such occurrences are like explosions, vanishing with the moment. Especially at his age, " Sindel replied

"But this is earlier than we anticipated."

A hush silence fell over the two.

"Let's get him tested first then when he's ready we-"

"No," Sindel said.

"But Sindel,"

"No, it's still too early Liu Kang, you know, it takes time to put pieces of a broken life back together. "

Liu Kang paused mid-retort and realized his mother-in-law was right. The boy was young and still working through the grief of losing his mother. Right now, he was just getting to know Sindel Mileena and Sheeva, and Shinji was the only child who didn't shy away from the Shokan outworlder. Their talk was cut short when a maid announced an unexpected arrival.

"Were you expecting anyone else, Sindel?"

"Only," Sindel started to grouse.

"Hello, Sindy!"

An obnoxious voice echoed from the foyer. A somewhat stout woman in her mid-60s appeared. She wore an expensive-looking sundress with gaudy heels. She wore silk and shiny jewelry on her wrists and fingers. Her make-up was light surprisingly, she had short black hair and brown eyes.

"Yan Hai." Sindel said lamely with a forced smile "So nice of you to drop by."

"Did you forget? This is our usual weekly teatime, and my house is undergoing fumigation."

"Oh yes, silly me I did forget, please forgive me, things have been hectic with Liu Kang's sudden visit and my great-great-grandson Shinji-"

"Oh so the word was true, one of your great-grandchildren is staying with you. I would like to meet the little dearie."

Sindel merely sighed, her old friend was quite good with children. Being a mother of five adult children, a grandmother of nine grandchildren, and an aunt of five nephews and three nieces. She was very friendly and loving towards her two daughters and grandchildren. Sindel would trust Yan with her family.

"Right now he's upstairs with Fumitan in the middle of a reading lesson," Sindel said.

"Already working on his education, are you? Hm ha, that is so like you Sindel." Yan gushed.

"Education is important, we mustn't let the foolish mixed-up ideals of the West enter our children's minds,"

"Yes, and we are, in the midst of discussing when Shinji should stay with Kitana and me." Liu Kang said

"How is Kitana? She still must be shaken up, after her run-in."

At this Liu Kang and Sindel scoffed almost in sync.

"My Dragoness is one of the strongest women on the planet, a simple hit and run, will not shake her." Liu Kang stated.

"But it wasn't just a hit-and-run accident, was it?" Yan questioned.

"No, just another foolish attempt by our enemies to make a name for themselves." Sindel hissed angrily.

"Indeed, we've had dozens of attempts on our lives, you would think they would have learned by now." Mileena inputted knowing she's killed more than a dozen assassins herself.

"Well, I hope they're taught the error of their ways."

" Oh, I assure you they will in due time. But as I was saying to Sindel, we feel that Shinji should at least come to stay with Kitana and me during the holiday seasons and during spring maybe one or two summers."

"But it's so humid and dry around that particular season in China."

"Not more so than Southern California, and it's very uncomfortable, especially in the summer."

Sindel proceeded to think over and nodded.

"Okay, Christmas you have him, and Chinese New Year. But every spring he visits our other relatives." Sindel said.

"Done."

"This is what I like about this family. You're quick on diplomacy, it's too bad you're not in politics. The UN or the American congress could learn something from the Kang clan." Yan remarked causing Liu Kang to scoff again.

"Politicians are weak and foolish, you know we do not associate with their ilk no matter what side they are on. Or who they claim to help." Liu Kang spat

"But don't think they haven't tried to reach out to us for donations and campaign support. We've said no every time." Sindel added "And any FINAL say with important matters in this family goes through me,"

Liu Kang looked like he wanted to retort but kept his face passive. He knew arguing with the family matriarch would be pointless, especially since they fought side by side and face to face in days long past.

Any more words were cut off when a maid announced the presence of another guest, a young man of mixed race, of Japanese and Chinese with spikey black hair, brown eyes, and lean build, who walked in with a young boy of six years old of Chinese descent (A/N I'm not really good with descriptions so think of this kid as Rei Kon from Beyblade)

"Sanosuke, Yuze. It has been some time, you've gotten bigger since the last time I saw you Yuze'," Liu Kang said in surprise seeing the sons of his second daughter Xia.

"Hello, Grandfather, Great grandmother great aunt Mileena," Sanosuke said bowed in respect with Yuze following suit

"If I had known more of our relatives were coming, I would've prepared a reunion party," Sindel muttered in annoyance.

"That would be understating it, Mother." Mileena chuckled.

"Sorry to drop in unannounced great granny, but we've heard through the wire that Shinji, Yui's son is now living here with you, and since we were passing by, Yuze and I wanted to meet him," said Sanosuke

"He's upstairs in his room, with Fumitan undergoing a reading lesson now." Sindel explained, "One of my maids will take you to him."

"Thank you, great granny, but there is a further business I want to discuss with you and grandfather."

"Alright, go on Yuze, I'll be there in a minute."

"Alright big brother."

Yuze followed the maid, up the stairs while the adults started talking

"I take it you've all heard the news, about the Talisman?" Sanosuke asked with the family nodding.

"We were close to having that conversation, Sano. " Sindel said.

"Oh? And what were you talking about before we arrived?" Sanosuke inquired.

While the adults were talking, one of the maids led Yuze to Shinji's room, he wondered what Shinji was like, granted Yuze himself was a few years older than he was. But, still wondered if he was nicer than his other distant cousins. His mother Yui was certainly said to be very kind, it was even said that she was great grandfather most favorite, causing jealousy and strife among other family members.

The maid reached a large double door and knocked. The door opened revealing Granny Sindel's head maid and oldest friend Fumitan Admoss.

"Master Yuze." she said in surprise "It has been some time."

"Hello, Ms. Admoss, my brother and I just dropped by. Sorry, it's unannounced." Yuze said bowing in respect.

"No trouble at all please come in."

Yuze walked into a very spacious room. Thrice the size of a normal room. It was so big a house could fit in it. Yuze thought it a little much for a four-year-old, his room back home in Hong Kong wasn't that big. Yuze could see a brown-haired Japanese boy sitting at a desk reading kids' books with Japanese and Chinese writing.

"Pardon the interruption, Master Shinji, we have a guest," Fumitan spoke breaking Shinji from his books.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your lesson, my name is Yuze Shen. I'm your distant cousin." Yuze introduced respectfully bowing.

"I've wanted to meet you for some time."

"I'm happy to meet more of my family." Shinji happily replied with a smile.

"Did you come with your brother Master Yuze?"Fumitan asked getting a nod.

"Yes, Sano is downstairs right now with the other adults."

"Sano?" asked Shinji

"Short for Sanosuke, my brother,"

"I will go and call for some refreshment young masters," Fumitan said.

"Oh, you really don't have to," Yuze said.

"Oh, but I must." Fumitan insisted walking out the door.

Yuze looked at the book Shinji was reading, both Chinese writing and Japanese Kanji noting the differences between the two sets of language.

Yuze began to give Shinji some pointers on how to spot the differences between the two just as he had learned. Fumitan walked back in with a tray of two fresh sweet teacups in hand. She smiled slightly at the scene before her, she had a feeling these two were going to get along just fine.

(Angeni's Lab several days later)

Angeni was watching over little Ming Na formerly known as Rei, while looking over her strong vitals on her tablet. So far there have been no problems with her recovery. The girl was in excellent health, and Jade's unique blood proved to be quite a factor.

She sighed, today was the day Chen would come for her, to take Ming Na to the Lin Kuei temple but when she informed Jade of this, she vehemently opposed much to Angeni's surprise, or rather not surprise, and would soon confront the Lin Kuei.

Jade's Edenian blood was coursing through the little girl's veins. In effect, Ming could be considered her daughter or sister. The little girl began to stir and opened her blue eyes.

"Mm," she muttered.

"How are you feeling today, Ming?" asked Dr Cloud in a soft tone.

"I-I'm doing fine Dr. Cloud." She replied sitting in bed.

Her memories were blurry, she remembered someone saving her from a bad place, then she briefly opened her eyes in a tube, then she woke up here, she couldn't remember anything else not even her old name. Angeni studied the girl, as she squinted her now crystal blue eyes trying to remember what happened to her before and why she had changed, Alistair suggested they erase her previous memories, of her brief time with NERV completely.

Angeni was against that idea. The procedure to change the girl's entire genetic makeup was risky enough, but erasing her memories at her delicate age could be detrimental to her developing mind. They would fade in time.

It was around that time that Jade had come to visit seeing as the girl had half her blood coursing through her veins making her a blood relative of hers. She began bonding with the girl, building up her, teaching her many things, reading writing, and showing her images of places around the globe, mainly her home in China.

Ming took a liking to this woman, she was warm and comforting, even far better than the other brown-haired woman who looked after her before. She vaguely remembered a man and woman bringing her to this place, promising she would be safe from the people who wanted to hurt her.

"Dr. Cloud," spoke Ming.

"Yes?" answered Angeni.

"What is to become of me now?" she asked.

Angeni looked down in thought. She knew Chen would be coming today, to take her to the Lin Kuei temple, but Jade would also be coming in today, and she would no doubt have something to say about that. The good doctor feared a confrontation. Both were skilled martial artists, tempers would flare, and damage would be done. Sighing the good doctor said

"The man who brought you to me, Mr. Chen said he would be coming to see you today," answered Angeni.

"And so is Ms., Jade."

"Chen... Ms. Jade" the little girl whispered.

"Hey, Angeni!" Alistair said practically flying into the room "Uh we got ourselves a situation, down on the first floor."

"About what Alistair?"

"Boss lady and Mr. Scary Ninja Assassin man are downstairs and it's getting pretty tense. I mean like "We need a bomb squad" intense."

Angeni sighed and softly told the little girl,

"I'll be right back."

The little girl meekly nodded, not fully understanding the two adults in the room. Both took the stairs and, in a few minutes, they walked in on the pair getting into a discussion that was quickly becoming heated.

"You think highly of yourself Lin Kuei. You may have saved her, but the blood coursing through her veins is mine. Ming will stay with me." Jade declared.

"And what? Offer her the life of a spoiled wealthy girl like those in the West? Don't make me laugh." Chen replied causing Jade to growl at the indignation.

"You believe me to be soft? Surely, you've heard from your grandmaster, how formidable I am. How often I've fought alongside him, Sindel, Mileena, Liu Kang, and Kitana. They know my strength, Kitana especially. "

"I know, you fought alongside Master Tomas, for a time. But being told is one thing seeing is another. And he also told me, how he once bested Kitana Kang, the Dragoness of the Kang clan your friend. Looking at you, you do seem strong, yes, but not strong enough, to raise a child."

Jade stepped up to the ninja clearly insulted and looked ready to fight. Angeni and Alistair glanced at each other nervously, both wondering how to defuse this combustible situation, or who would try to get in between the two, the assassin and the businesswoman who was their boss (whom the pair didn't know Jade was an assassin as well). They didn't know to either risk their careers or their lives.

"Hey gang, sorry I'm late. You will not believe the line at the Rise to Grind, stretched from one end of the block to the other." Henry said coming in with three ice mochas in hand.

"I had to go through the drive-thru, which took forever because they got a new girl. At the."

Henry stopped mid-sentence when both Jade and Chen glared deathly at him, causing him to freeze up.

"Oh hell, this is bad timing, isn't it?"

"No shit Henry." Alistair quipped.

"Obviously talking won't settle this, so I suggest an alternative. I want, to see if you're strong enough to raise and protect Ming," Chen said causing Jade to smirk much to the surprise of the three in the room.

"I'd thought you might say that. And I would expect nothing less from a Lin Kuei warrior, especially one trained by Smoke."

"Very well, let's take this outside."

The pair went around the back away from prying eyes, of who else aside from the three young scientists in the room. The trio cautiously followed them closely, the pair stood face to face, Jade removed her business jacket and took off her watch and jewelry, and got into a Fan Zi fighting stance without her Bo staff, as did Chen who got into a Tai Tzu stance.

"You know of my skills, and I know of yours, so don't hold back on my account," Jade said.

"That was the idea, Jade," Chen replied.

(Round one Fight!)

Jade started off with a front mule kick, which Chen, hit a front palm strike to the face, catching Jade by surprise, Chen hit two upper palm strikes, which Jade countered with a straight kick, to the mid-section, Chen avoided another mule kick, hitting a back elbow to the face of Jade, then followed it up with leg sweep but Jade backflipped and hit a quick knee strike, then a surprise uppercut. Chen leaped back up and gathered energy in his hands, much to the shock of both Henry and Alistair but not to Angeni.

"Angeni, you knew he could do that?" asked Henry.

"Yes." She answered.

"Did you Al?"

"I suspected," he said.

"I'll take that as yes."

"That's enough of the warm-up," Chen said.

Chen struck fast and hard slamming his palms into her abdomen and sending Jade flying into the wall.

SLAM

"Gha!"

"Alright then."

The woman got up and blocked another palm, strike and hit palm strike of her own (palm bash) with her own hands glowing a light green, Chen blocked a low strike only to be hit with a double spin kick (Edenia dance), Chen avoided a stomp, and hit a snap roundhouse kick then hit a palm strike to the face and body knocking her down.

(Chen Wins)

(Round two Fight!)

Jade, hit Chen with a straight kick (Stiletto strike) Chen retaliated with an upper palm strike only for Jade to block and hit a quick knee kick combo( Edenian rush), Jade missed with a swift kick, allowing her opponent to hit a high knee strike, then an underhand palm strike.

This stunned Jade temporarily, but she bounced back and hit a surprise high jump kick sending Chen crashing into the garbage cans, then hit another knee kick combo, sending against the far wall and driving him to his knee.

(Jade Wins)

(Round three Fight!)

Chen got back up and straightened himself out ready to resume. He was determined to win this fight. Chen went back on the offensive, his strikes becoming more aggressive but controlled, Jade ducked and blocked as much as she could, even answering back with some aggressive kicks of her own. Chen channeled energy into his palms and let out an energy shockwave sending Jade flying through the wall.

"Yah!"

CRASH!

"Oh!" both Alistair and Henry explained.

Jade growled as she got up and made a quick dash and hit two stiletto kicks and a quick mule kick, Chen caught it, but Jade hit a swift spin kick with the other leg, catching him off guard, and staggering him, Jade quickened the pace, with another double palm strike. Chen missed with a chop but caught Jade with a spinning elbow. Both leaped back to get distance from each other. This next move would decide the fight. Both Jade and Chen's eyes locked on each other, without wasting another second, they rushed toward each other. Chen thrust his energized palm forward and Jade went for a straight kick, both attacks striking true at the same time.

KICK!

SLAM!

All was still momentarily, until Chen went down on a knee, having taken the full brunt of the exchange.

(Jade wins)

"You are strong, I was mistaken," Chen admitted.

"Smoke trained you well, it's been quite some time since I've actually had a challenge," Jade said breathing heavily and helping him up

"Raising a child will test your might."

"I've been watching Kitana, raise her children for years, I know it won't be easy, parenting is never easy. But I will raise Ming to be strong. You have my word."

The Lin Kuei nodded accepting his defeat, knowing now, to increase his training, before he could walk away Jade stopped him.

"But extra training might be beneficial. I'll allow you to train her, at your temple, with your grandmaster's permission of course." Jade added

"Thank you, and I hope one day, we'll have a rematch."

"Anytime, any place."

Chen chuckled almost a bit awkwardly, Jade chuckled herself dusting her suit off as much as possible, feeling more exhilarated than she had in a long time.

"So," Henry stepped in cautiously "Are you two good now? Boss?"

Jade nodded in response, knowing that the trio didn't understand how the martial artist did things. Chen nodded also, confirming all was well between them.

"All right, Alistair call up the maintenance teams, this is going to be murder on our budget." Angeni groaned.

"Do not worry Dr. Cloud, I'll be accountable for it," Jade assured.

"Thank you, So about Ming,"

"I'll inform her myself, and I'll have the proper paperwork drawn up within a few days, I'm sure she'll be quite excited."

"That's good to know, she'll have a chance to grow up normally, I hope you're up to the task."

" Rest assured I am,"

(Shirakawa)

In the far, north of Tokyo lay a vast isolated mountain traditional Japanese village, untouched by the ravages of time and second impact. The gate was a fortified Torii, with the symbol of a Scorpion around the moon.

The villagers that lived there farmed, fished, shopped, or exchanged goods without a care in the world, far in the distance, a large housing compound stood, near the bottom of the mountain, where a young boy could be seen playing with his friends, they all wore matching black and yellow kimono outfits, playing in the forest, chasing each other around with sticks.

One older boy with long black hair was catching up with his friends, after completing his set chores for the day. Hearing their laughter echo throughout the quiet forest next to his village. As he was gaining ground, he happened near an old worn-out large shrine, near a hill. Curious he approached it; the shrine gave a haunting feeling a gently mysterious breeze blew down across the way. Slowly but surely the boy walked to the steps his curiosity driving him. From inside the decrepit wood he could see, a sharp blade in a protective casing, covered in talisman seals. As he was appearing inside, he was halted by a voice.

"Ayato!" a voice called out.

The boy froze mid-step, behind him was a man with short black hair a scar over his left eye, and a growing goatee. He wore a sleeveless dark yellow kimono garb showing his muscles, with a wakizashi and a tachi on his hip. His name was Hideo.

"Father," said Ayato turning around slowly but guilty.

The man had a disapproving look on his face, as looked at the old shrine and grimaced. He motioned for his son to follow him as he made his way back to the village.

"Son, I have told you before, not to venture far off into the forest. Especially near the forbidden shrine. You do know of the legend of the demon warrior that was sealed in there centuries ago, don't you?" asked the man.

"The legend of the demon warrior?" asked his son.

"A legend in our village passed down from generation to generation. Long ago, in ancient times, there was a demon warrior of great skill, spawned from the deepest pits of hell called the nether realm, roaming the land. Laying waste to anyone who dared to challenge him. He battled against, ninjas, samurai, monks, assassins, and gods. One day he came across, a strong warrior equal in strength and with the power of ice, here in these very lands. The warrior and the demon warrior fought for days, their battle raged, searing the lands and causing untold destruction. It wasn't until the demon warrior was distracted that the ice warrior lured the demon here and sealed its spirit here within his weapon." His father finished.

Ayato remained silent after his father finished the tale, Father and son made their way back to the village.

"Our clan The Shirai Ryu, has kept watch over the shrine for centuries. Making sure the spirit inside never escaped and reigned destruction upon the world once again."

Ayato let out a slight gasp at the story, feeling a bit frightened.

The father and son pair made their way back into the bustling village, everyone, carried on without a care in the world. The sun was beginning to set, the large bell was tolling signaling the end of the day. The pair walked up to a large traditional Japanese home, there they noticed a woman dressed in a simple yellow kimono wearing a white bandana wrapped around her dark hair, was seen using a kunai to garden dig into the soil, she looked all around the clear sky with a pleasant smile on her face, enjoying the peace and serenity the day brought.

Her enjoyment increased when she saw two people approaching her, She rose up to greet them, showing her growing stomach. The man gently put his hand on her cheek stroking it affectionately.

"Sayaka," the man greeted

"Hideo, Ayato." Sayaka greeted

"Are you feeling alright Mother?" asked Ayato getting a nod

"You shouldn't move around too much in your state," Hideo spoke gently stroking her cheek

"This little one was fussing, I thought a little fresh air would do us good, and I had to make certain that garden was properly tended to," Sayaka replied touching her belly lightly

"That is so like you, like your mother before you."

"How much longer, before my new sibling comes Mother?" asked Ayato putting a hand on her belly

"Not too much longer,"

"In the meantime, go and retrieve the buckets below the stairway, and then go get cleaned up for dinner, Ayato the sun is setting." his father instructed

"Yes, Father,"

"Hideo, you seem a little on edge. Is something wrong darling?"

"I'm not certain, but I sense something is going to happen."

"Like what?" asked his wife

"I do not know, there's been some recent activity with both the Deathstrike clan and the Lin Kuei. It's got the elders on edge, ever since the Cult of Nostradamus, kidnapped some of their ninjas, and those of ours. Fortunately, they were stopped by another party, but it has caused some unrest, and any day now, war could break out between the clans."

Hideo looked over the village, their people, and their clan going about their daily lives, without a care in the world, it gave him a good feeling, but he couldn't shake off this sudden feeling of dread. Sayaka seeing her husband's worry stroked his hand gently regaining his attention."

"I'm sure it's nothing, darling, keep your concentration here and now."

Sayaka took her husband by the hand and led him inside with Ayato catching up, as it was time for dinner. Night fell upon the village, as everyone went to their homes for the night. Meanwhile on a large hilltop overlooking the village. Stood a lone cloaked figure, next to him, a taller man, clad in a blue garb his face obscure with armor pieces, on his forearms and legs, with a symbol of the Lin Kuei clutched in his hand.

"Is everything in place?" this figure rasped

"Yes, the rest of my men are in position."

"Excellent, then we're ready to begin, and tonight the Shirai Ryu dies."

The figure outstretched their hands and a swirl of green magic engulfed the man in darkness, changing him into the form of the Chen one of the elite ninjas grayish outfit, mask and all. The hooded figure stood behind Chen as he raised his arms shooting out a heavy fog that began to blanket the entire village. The disguised Chen.

From his home, while he was eating dinner with his family Hideo glanced to the side, his senses going off. He put down his chopsticks, and bowl much to the confusion of his family.

"Father, what's the matter?" asked Ayato seeing Hideo getting up from the table

"Sayaka, Ayato remain inside." Hideo said grabbing his weapons

"Hideo what's wrong?" asked Sayaka

"Something is amiss remain here."

Opening the door, he was greeted by a thick fog. Cautiously he stepped on the ground, looking around with no visibility, Hideo instead relied on his other senses to guide him. Hideo began to hear movement behind him, and around him. Unsheathing his wakizashi, he readied himself.

"I know you are there, show yourself!"

In response, two ninjas leaped out of the fog, chain sickles and swords in hand, Hideo skillfully moved to the side and hit an upward slash, cutting the attackers in half. Sheathing his blade Hideo looked down and saw it was a Lin Kuei ninja, but he sensed something was off as far as he knew, the Lin Kuei had no quarrel with the Shirai Ryu. This wasn't their usual garb the pattern was different, almost familiar in two half colors. He shook his head snapping back to reality, he needed to get his family out of the village.

"Sayaka, Ayato come we must go!" Hideo urged rushing back inside

"Hideo! What has happened?" asked his wife

"We are under attack!"

The trio went outside the confines of their home, across the two dead bodies. Sayaka held her son close following her husband. The sounds of battle echoed throughout the fog and the family trodden carefully, sticking close, Hideo stopped mid-way his eyes widening in horror, on the ground were his clansmen dead. Their bodies were cut open and gutted their blood staining the ground. Sensing movement from both sides ninjas appeared, and Hideo blocked attacks with both his swords, then Ayato, threw a rock at one of them allowing his father to slash and impale them both.

"We must keep moving, stay close," Hideo instructed his wife and son

"Hideo this fog, where did it come from?" asked his frightened pregnant wife

"Only one warrior has the ability to generate a fog this dense. The grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, but we have no quarrel with their clan, why would they attack us now is unknown."

Hideo hurried along with his wife and son following closely. As they kept moving, they came across more bodies of their clansmen, the attacks continued, as Hideo slayed more Lin Kuei ninjas along the way, viciously and quickly leaving a blood-soaked path the man ever so determined to protect his family. After a few moments, they made it to the forest. It was quiet enough, but Hideo maintained his guard, keeping his family close. Just then herds of ninjas came from the trees and surrounded the family.

"Sayaka, take Ayato and run." Hideo ordered readying himself

"Father!" cried Ayato

"Darling, " his wife spoke gently slipping him something

"Go!"

Sayaka did as ordered and ran in the opposite direction with their son. Hideo looked down and saw it was the same Kunai that Sayaka was using earlier that day. Steeling himself he ripped a thin string off his kimono and tied it at the grip of the Kunai tying it around his wrist. Lin Kuei ninja surrounded him and charged.

"Kill him!" one of the ninjas yelled

"Not tonight!" Hideo replied

Hideo struck quickly with the fury and finesse of a scorpion. Slashing and stabbing, even beheading more than half a dozen Lin Kuei ninjas, without mercy. More waves kept coming. But Hideo showed no signs of slowing down as he tore through the ninja until the grass was stained red with their blood. And just like that it was over, with Hideo himself suffering from a few minor injuries and breathing heavily.

"Sayaka, Ayato!"

Hideo followed their tracks, hoping to whatever gods were listening that he'd get to his family in time. Sure enough, their tracks led to the place where he had found his son, in front of the forbidden shrine. In the clearing, he saw that they'd been caught. His eyes widened with horror as he looked upon the Lin Kuei warrior holding his pregnant wife by the scruff of her kimono and his son was on the ground his throat slit, lying face down dead.

"AYATO SAYAKA!" Hideo yelled in fury approaching the ninja who raised his hand

"H-Hideo." Sayaka strained under the grip of the ninja

"Ah, come no closer, Shirai Ryu dog," he said

"Release my wife!" Hideo growled

The ninja smirked maliciously under his mask, tightening his grip on the woman, knowing the Shirai Ryu dog wouldn't strike his pregnant wench. He had him at his mercy.

"What do you want?!" Hideo asked finally

"On your knees!" the ninja ordered

Knowing his wife's life and the life of their unborn child was in jeopardy, Hideo did exactly as told. Already he was thinking of several different ways to kill him. The ninja tossed Sayaka through the forbidden shrine with a loud crash.

"AH!" Sayaka screamed

"SAYAKA NO!" Hideo screamed in horror as the building collapsed on top of her

Hideo was about to charge at him until the ninja fired an energy shot, going right through Hideo's chest and causing him to fall to his knees. Hideo started coughing up blood in large amounts as blood gushed out of his chest, his life slowly ebbing away trying to raise his body up. The Lin Kuei walked up to his dying victim looking down on him, as he glared up at him with as much hatred as he could muster.

"You'll ...die ...for... what y- you've done!"Hideo gritted out losing more blood.

"You first!"

STAB!

Hideo was suddenly stabbed in the back, then he fell to the ground unmoving. His task was done the spell had worn off revealing the ninja's colors true to be that of Deathstrike.

"It is done," the man said walking away his task was complete.

The Shirai Ryu were finished, and best of all no one would ever know it was Deathstrike that orchestrated the massacre. Little did he know the shrine itself had shined bright and then burst into flames. Hideo's body suddenly vanished in a fire leaving only an imprint on the ground.

End chapter

End notes: I know, it's been a long time. I wanted to upload this on my friend's birthday so here's Dragon's Bloodline chapter eight. If it wasn't obvious, I'm teasing Scorpion. I think I said before I'm not gonna have an MK story without their poster boy, if I didn't I'm saying it now. GET OVER HERE. That line is too iconic. Anyway, Shinji meets more of his family, Chen, and Jade fight, for Ming(recently changed from Meilin I just wasn't feeling the name anymore), and another Shirai Ryu massacre. The next chapter will be a major time jump before Shinji heads to Tokyo-3. What could happen? Is Sayaka really dead, I don't know yet. I would love suggestions though. I will tell you, that two things will happen, Mileena goes through some changes, and a certain god starts looking at Shinji. (Care to guess who, I give you a hint it's not Raiden) Other stories are still in progress, I'm at it one at a time. So read and review and stay prime, and Gunman if you're reading this please get back to MK EVA
