Summary: Two years after the events of MKX, Liu Kang and Kitana and the other Revenants leave the NetherRealm, and are offered a chance to start anew, by becoming family to Shinji Ikari.

Chapter Twelve
(Tokyo-3)
On the train to Tokyo, sat a young, lean, muscular boy of fourteen dressed in a Chinese short-sleeved shirt and black hooded vest with a dragon decal on the back. He wore black jeans and white shoes. His hair was dark brown but had grown out a little, and he had hard blue eyes full of focus and determination. He steadied his breathing in a brief meditation on his mind, harkening back to his meeting with his elders.
(Flashback to the Shaolin temple)
Shinji was kneeling on both knees in front of his great-grandfather, Liu Kang, his great-grandmother Kitana, his great-great-grandmother Sindel, Grandmaster Kung Lao, and his wife, Master Zu Yuan. Their Daughter Lin was on the side, along with Sheeva, Mileena, Fumitan, and Laufeia. Shinji didn't take his eyes off the head of the family, who maintained a serious expression. Liu Kang cleared his throat to speak.
"Shinji my great-grandson, do you know why you are here?" Liu Kang began
"Yes, Great-grandfather, you've called me here, for an important task," Shinji answered
"Correct, there is a danger on the horizon. An organization called NERV, run by your biological father has been poaching members of our family and young students of the Wu Shi temple here in China conscripting them into service forcefully." Liu Kang said
"Already the China branch of NERV has forcefully taken several top-level students, of the Wu Shi temple, from their families." Kung Lao continued
"And the Chinese government simply allowed it?" asked Shinji getting a nod of yes
"Sadly yes, Gendo Ikari has Chinese officials in his pocket serving as his pawns. And they threaten to close down the temple and the Kwoons, using the past murders as an excuse." Sindel explained
"A dirty dishonorable tactic."
"Why have they taken them? Is it for their project E?" Shinji asked getting a nod of confirmation
"Yes, many children have already been lost to their EVA experiments." Zu Yuan replied sadly clenching her robes
"We know that Gendo needs special children for his cause, defending humanity from a threat beyond the stars. Although we know his cause to be less than noble." Kitana spoke
"Less than noble?"
"Yes, he will claim to defend humanity from the coming threat, but in reality, Gendo Ikari is the threat." Liu Kang replied with disdain and hatred in his tone
"His true intention will lead to the destruction of all life in this world. Your task is to stop him, from within his organization, and combat the coming threat from the stars." Kitana finished
"I understand great-grandmother, I will not fail," Shinji stated
"This is what we've been training you for my Shinji, we know you won't." Sindel finished
"May the spirits watch over you."
(End flashback)
Feeling the train slow down and come to a complete stop, Shinji took his bag and stepped off the train to a deserted station. Not just the train station, but the entire city was oddly empty. Shinji sensed something was off, the winds began to tremble, and birds were flying away rapidly in the direction as if sensing danger.
"Hmm." Shinji hummed glancing at something from his peripheral vision
A blue-haired girl from a distance
"What?"
Birds flew past him distracting the boy momentarily, when he looked again, she was gone.
" That was odd, I sense something approaching." He thought as he looked up and noticed a squadron of military planes headed for a much larger object that was walking
The jets bombarded the large greenish monster while Shinji just looked, and the military attacked, obviously to no avail. The monster swatted them away like flies while marching towards the city.
From his peripheral vision, Shinji saw a car speeding directly toward him. He skillfully leaped into the air in a summersault twist flip over the car, landing beside the vehicle.
"Get in!" she shouted
Complying without hesitation Shinji rounded to the passenger side and got in. The car took off at breakneck speed away from the battle scene.
(A little later)
Safely on the road again, the woman looked at her young passenger, while he had his arms folded and his eyes closed in meditation. The files on him were scarce all it said was he lived in Sapporo with a wealthy socialite but that was it, there was nothing else. Any other information on Shinji was blanked out. No clubs no friends or favorite food not even a social media page, he was below the radar. Also, the kid didn't look like the typical rich brat, who flaunts their family's wealth and status.
"Not what you expected." Shinji suddenly said breaking her from her musings
"Uh?" Misato went
"You are probably thinking" Just a rich kid." Spoiled and privileged, right?" Shinji finished his eyes remaining closed
"How did he know what I'm thinking?" she thought
"My great-grandfather taught me the importance of maintaining simplicity, and not worrying over material possessions or wealth."
"Your great-grandfather sounds like a real monk,"
"Indeed, he is Misato Katsuragi."
"You know my name?" she asked in surprise
"I glanced at your identification."
"Oh,"
She pulled off the road noticing that the gunships that had been sortied to dispatch the monster had begun to retreat. Shinji opened his eyes hearing something else approach from a distance.
"Wait a minute, don't tell me! NO, THEY'RE GONNA USE AN N2 MINE!"
"What's an N2 mine?" Shinji asked becoming worried.
"GET DOWN!"
Moments later, a blinding explosion of light flashed into existence in the distance as the car was tossed over the ground like a ragdoll by the delayed but still accompanying shockwave.
The car rolled and tumbled, luckily only making the two occupants dizzy more than anything else.
Finally, the car stopped as it rested on its side. The purple-haired woman and the young boy hung in their seats upside down, very staggered. The woman was the first to unclasp her seatbelt and drop to the car's roof The shattered glass and dust were almost unavoidable as she crawled around in the tight space. She prodded the boy, who to her shock was still conscience after that ride
Oh, hell! Are you alright? Is anything broken?" the purple-haired lady asked frantically, hoping the boy hadn't been injured on her watch.
"No, I am well," he replied undoing his seat belt and crawling out of the driver's side through the now-destroyed window.
"Oh, damn it, I chipped a nail." The woman whined. "And my dress is all torn! Oh, I just bought this dress! …Sorry, I'd guess we have bigger things to worry about right now."
"Indeed, we do, " Shinji replied looking beyond the damaged car out into the distance where the smoke was
Here, help me flip the car back over. On three huh-"
Shinji put a single hand on the vehicle's roof and with one simple push, the car was back on all fours.
Misato stood there stunned at the boy, although upon closer inspection, the boy was quite muscular underneath his white shirt, which almost made her feel a little hot. Shinji's attention on the other hand was on the massive cloud that was beginning to clear up. The attacking entity was still alive but standing oddly still.
"Even that wasn't enough, there may be one thing that we have that could beat it, let's get a move on." Misato urged
"Unit 01." the boy thought getting into the car
The pair were back on the road, Shinji folded his arms staring head,
"So, Shinji Ikari..." Misato began
" It's Edenia, Shinji Edenia" he corrected
"Not according to your birth certificate."
"Be that as it may, my name is Shinji Edenia, you would do well to remember that."
"Hmm. the name Edenia, sounds familiar."
After about fifteen minutes of driving the pair reached their destination.
As Misato drove the car train down to the Geofront, Shinji uttered one simple sentence as he glanced at the crest on the Bulkhead doors.
"Incredible, this is NERV? " Shinji asked
"Yes, we are going to where your father works…you know what he does don't you? " Misato asked
"I have a slight idea," he replied not wanting to give away more than he knew.
"I see,"
However, Shinji was soon drawn away from this conversation as he and Misato passed the final layer of plate armor surrounding the Geofront.
" A geo-front. Impressive."
"I thought you might like it. This is how we are going to rebuild the world."
" I doubt that very much." Shinji thought
Three high-ranking members of the Japanese Military looked down upon Gendo with pure reluctance.
"Command of this operation has been entrusted to you, Mr. Ikari. So, tell us…do you think you can defeat this…thing?"
Gendo smirked at the three men across from him and pressed one of his gloved hands to his glasses to edge them a little higher up the bridge of his nose.
"Of course. It's why NERV exists, gentlemen…"
The trio of men then left the room giving Commander Ikari the task of combating this threat
"Fuyutsuki, take care of the rest of this."
"Understood, what do you plan to do Ikari?"
"Activate Unit-01, of course."
"B-but Sir, we don't have a pilot!"
"One was just delivered."
"You don't mean?"
"Yes, I do," Commander Ikari said bluntly as he walked towards the elevator that would take him to the Eva cages.
"Their first meeting in ten years, and boy is he in for a surprise."
More news on the angel tore Fuyutsuki from his musings, and he couldn't afford to divert his attention when all of humanity was at stake.
"Alright, Everyone, battle stations, condition one."
"Ugh, these stupid door fans are the biggest reason I hate to wear a skirt around this place," Misato mumbled as she and Shinji passed through multiple bulkhead doors constantly blowing Misato's dress just a little higher than she would have liked.
"We are lost," Shinji noted
"I'm new here. Give me a break, okay?"
"I observe Misato Katsuragi, I don't judge."
However, fortune was not on Misato's side today, because as soon as the elevator arrived…
"Uh, ughuh, hi…Ritsuko."
"Captain Katsuragi, what are you doing? They sent me to look for you because of how late you are. Don't you know we're short on both time and manpower? Don't tell me you got lost again."
"Uh, sorry!" Misato squeaked out as fast as she could.
Doctor Akagi could only sigh and accept the past is the past. and continue onwards.
"Is he the one?"
"Uh, yes. According to the Marduk Report, he's the third child."
"I see. So, I take you're Shinji-"
"Edenia. Shinji Edenia" Shinji introduced doing the Shaolin greeting (Kung fu salute) surprising the doctor and Misato
"I see your confusion. Although I grew up in Sapporo, my great-grandparents raised me, Shaolin."
"Oh, okay."
"It is an honor to make your acquaintance Doctor, I have heard many things about you."
"You have?" she asked
"My relative Cheng Wa mentioned you had won one of Tokyo's universities' prestigious science awards."
"I've worked with him before. Cheng is one of your relatives?"
"Ah, so you have met."
"Only briefly, he always had a fast-paced way about him. He switched from medicine to engineering."
"There are reasons for that Doctor Akagi."
"Can we get back to the issue, Unit 01?" Misato interrupted
"Oh right, it's currently undergoing refrigeration with B-type equipment."
Shinji remained mostly silent during Ritsuko and Misato's exchange, getting a good look at his surroundings while listening to key parts of their conversation.
"Does it work? It's never worked before, has it?" Misato continued.
"We don't know, Captain. But we're about to find out."
Shinji remained silent, throughout their conversation. He already knew what Unit 01 was, a monstrous construct created by Gendo and his mother. Great-grandmother and the Black Dragon Agency had made it a point to keep track of NERV's activities by carefully placing operatives in key departments, right underneath Gendo's nose.
The agency suspected the commander of having connections to terrorist organizations, helping to reap crisis, and aiding in the assassinations of key officials in certain parts of the world, unfortunately, Gendo was crafty and managed to cover his tracks quite well which added another reason for Shinji's arrival. The three kept traveling down the confusing hallways until they entered a large, dark room.
Shinji narrowed his eyes, prepared for whatever might lie ahead. Walking in, the lights in the chamber flickered on and a large metal face painted purple appeared before him. In the middle of its brow was a long horn slanted slightly forward and on its mouth were thick plates that looked like teeth.
"By the gods," he whispered in near horror
"This is mankind's ultimate weapon. This is Evangelion Unit-01; our last hope, developed here in this facility." Ritsuko said seeing him glare at the Evangelion,
Shinji glared at the Unit already feeling the urge to destroy this vile monstrosity with his power right here but stayed his hand. He needed to uncover Gendo's true motives first.
"Shinji are you alright?" Misato asked a bit concerned seeing him glare at the Unit
"I am fine is this my father's work?" he asked a grim feeling settled in his chest.
And, as though he had been waiting for Shinji to ask exactly that, Gendo responded gruffly and for all to hear,
"Correct."
"You," Shinji growled
"It's been a while…" said Gendo not liking the fierceness he was seeing from the boy.
"Yes, it has been too long for my taste, you old fool," Shinji replied
Gendo glared at the boy for insult
"We're moving out."
Misato had a look of utter surprise on her face.
"MOVING OUT? BUT UNIT-00 IS STILL IN CRYO!"
Then, she looked towards the large purple Eva in an even more surprised expression as realization dawned on her.
"YOU'RE GONNA USE UNIT-01? BUT…" She then looked towards the third child wanting to believe Shinji wasn't an option, she looked at Ritsuko.
"Rei can't pilot right now, can she? We don't have a pilot!"
Ritsuko stated her next words as coolly as Commander Ikari could have.
"We just received one."
"Me," Shinji answered
Misato was in shock
"Don't look so surprised Ms. Katsuragi, I am more than certain that he had planned this," Shinji stated looking up at Gendo
"He had?" she asked
" It's not your fault Ms. Katsuragi, you were just an unwitting pawn in his scheme, to force me to pilot this abomination."
Shinji glanced at Ritsuko, who remained expressionless.
"Let me rephrase that, you were an unwitting pawn, Doctor Akagi was the willing pawn."
Ritsuko let out a short gasp in offense to that remark, the room suddenly started shaking.
There's no time, " Shinji, we need you..." Ritsuko started to say.
"No." the boy interrupted.
"What?" she asked as everyone froze.
"I'm not piloting for you, old man." Shinji said to Gendo. "I owe you nothing."
"Shinji," Misato said as the room continued to shake
"Fuyutsuki, wake up Rei." he said.
("Are you certain?")
"She's not dead. We will use her."
Shinji sneered in anger as he saw a pair of nurses and a doctor wheel an injured young girl out into the cages on a gurney.
"Cowardly bastard! Have you no honor?" he said, though to be honest, he was glad of this. It made what he had planned all the better
"If you will not pilot, then she will," Gendo said
Suddenly, the whole base shook again. Steel beams fell from the ceiling, Shinji reacted instinctively, leaped twenty feet into the air, and kicked the beams away to hit the glass Gendo was on the other side of, cracking, Shinji flawlessly landed standing his full height, smirking at the commander.
Everyone looked on in absolute shock, they couldn't believe what they witnessed. The third child jumped twenty feet into the air and kicked a steel beam away like a soccer ball, an unbelievable feat.
"How did he do that?!" was everyone's collective thoughts
Ignoring onlookers, Shinji knelt by the girl to check her condition.
"I wish I had great-grandmother's healing ability. "Shinji murmured looking at the girl. "Lie still, you're going to be alright."
"Urgh." she whimpered
"I will do it."
Gendo smirked
"If you give me the girl." the boy finished
"What?" Gendo's smirk dropped
"You are owed nothing, but I want something in return if you wish me to help."
"You... want Rei?" he asked, his brow twitching.
"Think quickly, commander," he said mockingly. " What is your choice?"
"The Angel is advancing. It'll be at the city center in three minutes." the female voice said
"The girl, for your lives!" Shinji said again.
Gendo grimaced as the base shook again.
"Done."
"What was that?"
"I... agree!" he said through clenched teeth but loud enough for everyone to hear
"Good, you have made the correct decision. But fair warning if you go back your word, I'll finish you off myself." Shinji warned
(Inside Unit 01)
"What a disgusting taste," Shinji said as he sat in the pilot seat as the entry plug filled with LCL.
"What's his synch ratio?" Ritsuko asked inside the control room.
"It's... it's at 95.7!" Maya Ibuki gasped.
"WHAT? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! It's just... IMPOSSIBLE!" Ritsuko gasped.
From the elevated platform, Gendo and Fuyutsuki just stared.
"Perhaps there's more to this boy than meets the eye."
"We'll see." Gendo grimaced, still not liking the deal he had struck up with the boy. "That deal won't hold up. I'll find a way to keep Rei away from him."
"Final checkout is complete, awaiting launch command."
"EVA LAUNCH!" Misato shouted from the control room.
The giant Evangelion rocketed to the surface, coming to a grating halt as it hit the streets. The approaching angel faced off against this unknown obstacle. Shinji unconsciously thought about taking a step forward, which Eva did.
"What's this?" Shinji questioned
(It's alright Shinji, the Evangelion is linked to your thoughts, it moves as you do.") Ritsuko informed over the intercom
"So, this monstrous thing is linked to my thoughts huh? That's useful information."
Shinji closed his eyes and concentrated hard. When he opened them, he imagined getting into his great-grandfather's fighting stance (Liu Kang's stance in MK1). The Evangelion copied this action, challenging the opposing creature.
"Your rampage ends here monster!" Shinji declared
(Round one fight!)
Shinji struck first with a front punch, and a double dragon kick to knock the monster off balance. The angel leveled its arm, and a glowing spike shot out. Unit 01 barely ducked and low-kicked it, sweeping the legs (Dragon Sweep) Unit 01 struck again with multiple kicks, pushing the angel further out of the city. The angel put up a yellow forcefield, shielding itself from further attacks.
"What is this barrier?" asked Shinji
("The Eva is capable of the same thing. You have to feel out your field and extend it.") Ritsuko explained
"Hmm."
Shinji blocked a strike from the angels and delivered a hard, energy-enhanced punch straight to the red orb in its chest, cracking it.
CRACK
"There's it's weak spot! I'll finish him quickly!"
Unit 01 dodged more strikes, hitting a flying dragon kick in response, stumbling the angel, who fell to a knee. Unit 01 appeared in front of it and proceeded with multiple punches, further cracking the orb and punching out pieces of the angel.
Then Shinji channeled his power through the Eva, its left hand glowed with red energy. The purple Unit struck the core with a final punch, transferring its red energy to the angel, which spread quickly to its entire body. The angel stepped back arching its body in extreme pain until...
BOOM!
The attacking angel exploded into pieces and fell into the water, nothing remained its threat had been neutralized. All of NERV couldn't believe what they had witnessed.
"Flawless victory," Shinji stated over the intercom
(Elsewhere)
In an undisclosed location, the man called Shan dressed in a jet-black cloak kneeled in front of a circular altar surrounded by four pillars with fire at the top. Shan bowed his head low, chanting something indecipherable. Then the pillars began to glow, and fires began to burn brighter and come to life rushing as if dancing in motion.
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
The flames came together in a circular motion and formed a larger ball of fire. Shan raised his head but remained in his kneeling position. A deep demonic voice echoed from the flame, as Shan peered directly into the fire.
"Speak Shan, have you found the other talismans?" the voice echoed
"We have retrieved the third talisman, my men are en route to bring it here before the Kang family catches on," Shan reported
"Grrr, the Kangs, Liu Kang. It has been seven centuries since he and his band of cursed warriors stripped me of my power and sealed me in the netherworld. But the time is drawing near. My power is slowly growing, soon I will be free."
"Yes master," said Shan
"The seven talismans are essential not only to restore my power but to open the gateway for my release."
"And you will have them, my master, Liu Kang will not stop us."
"See that he does not Shan. Do not fail me!"
With that, the flame dissipated. Shan rose and walked away from the altar, passing a sealed well in the far corner. Removing his cloak, he walked through the door and entered his office. As he sat down at his desk, his intercom buzzed.
"Yes."
("Sir! We have a situation!) the voice exclaimed
"What is it?"
("We-Argghh!")
"What the hell is going on down there?!" Shan exclaimed
Shan rushed down from his office running a long flight of stairs to a warehouse floor. Opening the door, the man was greeted by the sight of boxed cargo and dead bodies of low-level workers lying on the floor. Raising his eyebrow, Shan forged ahead, now hearing the sounds of fighting. Shan rounded the corner to see his top muscle Tan on the ground, unconscious but alive but standing over him was a shapely woman, she wore a revealing black and yellow scorpion theme leotard suit.
She had on long matching gloves, and she wore short high-heeled tabi boots with silver shin guards. On her face, she wore a hood and scorpion mask (MK4 Scorpion but black) that covered half her face. She bent over and picked up a yellow stone-colored medallion having her back turned to the man.
"Who the hell are you?!" Shan snarled seeing this unknown woman holding his prize
"Wait! Those colors, you are Shirai Ryu."
The masked woman glanced at the man.
" I thought your clan was wiped out," Shan said mirthfully
Shan knew of the legendary Shirai Ryu ninja clan. He had encountered them in the past couple of decades, but those encounters did not end favorably. Imagine Shan's delight when news of the clan's extinction reached his ears. Although one had managed to survive. Some underground sources say the Lin Kuei clan was responsible. Others say it was another clan. In either case, Shan was going to use this to his advantage.
The mystery woman glanced sharply at Shan, poised to strike.
"Who are you?"
The female ninja did not answer as Shan stepped cautiously towards the woman.
"Why do you have MY Talisman?!" Shan demanded
"This Talisman...is the key to my revenge against the Lin Kuei," she answered
"Do you intend to fight me for it? I warn you; you will fall just your men."
Shan relaxed his guard surveying his dead men.
"On the contrary, I too have come to blows with the Lin Kuei. They have become a little more than a nuisance."
"Hmmm"
"You wish to find Tomas Vrbada, yes."
The masked woman nodded
"It would appear we have a common interest; I help you locate Tomas Vrbada and his Lin Kuei, and in exchange, you get me the location of the next Talisman in his possession. It is how the Americans say, it's a win-win for both of us."
The masked woman looked down at the ground, her brows burrowing in contemplation. Images of her slain kin flashed through her mind. They were fueling her thirst for vengeance.
"I accept your terms." She answered, "I'll take whatever path leads me to Smoke and his Lin Kuei scum!"
The phone in Shan's coat pocket vibrated. Taking it out, a smirk crossed his face.
"What?"
"Fortune smiles on you tonight my dear. I know where one of them is going."
"Where?" she demanded
(After the battle, the hospital)
"Ms. Argus and Mr. Kaval sure do work fast, Lin" Shinji commented speaking on his cell phone from the hospital room
("Expect no less from our friends, Shinji. And what of Gendo?") the voice asked
"I already counted on Gendo's treachery from the start. That's why I called Ms. Argus first, it's good she had already gotten ahead of this."
("Jade has not once disappointed anyone. And for her part, it's justice for the stunt Gendo pulled on her years ago during her visit. Not to mention, she won't allow another child to suffer under his heel.")
"I'm not surprised, is everything set up in Tokyo?" asked Shinji
("Yes, your great grandfather had the building purchased already, Laufeia is overseeing preparations, they should be done by the time of your arrival.")
"Alright, how long are you staying in the city, Lin?"
("Until tomorrow, I must return to China to help the Wu Shi, temple.")
"Are they finally going to make you a master?"
("It looks that way, but I have several trials complete before I graduate.") answered Lin
Shinji looked back briefly to make sure he was alone and spoke in a low voice
"The Talismans?"
("Those and something else.")
"Something else? What could it be?"
("I'm not sure, mother just tells me to be patient)
"Whatever it is, it must be of great importance."
("Agreed, I must be going, I'll talk to you soon Shinji."
"Bye."
Shinji hung up and walked out the door carrying his bag over his shoulder. To his surprise, Misato was outside waiting for him.
"You did awesome Shinji!" Misato praised
"Thank you, Misato, how's Miss Ayanami?" Shinji inquired
"Got a thing for her already huh?"
"I'm concerned for her health, that's all."
"Sure, you are." Misato teased
The pair entered the hospital, and Shinji's phone vibrated, showing a text. A small smile graced his face when he read it, they made it to Rei's room, only to find the Commander standing in the doorway looking perplexed, much to Misato's confusion but not to Shinji's.
"Lose something Gendo?" Shinji inquired
"I can't let you see her," Gendo said quickly
"And why not?"
"S-she needs her rest."
Shinji merely smirked, deciding not to draw this farce out.
"Rei is not in there is she?" Shinji asked rhetorically
"Huh?" Misato said looking inside to see the room empty
"What? Where's Rei? Where did she go?"
" I've been on to your treachery from the start Gendo. That's why I made some calls and had Miss Ayanami transferred to Harumi Medical, a facility under White Lotus, my family's company. Their advanced medical technology and doctors will aid in her recovery."
"How did you-?" Gendo asked
"You remember Jade Argus? She's the CEO of the Japanese branch of White Lotus and an old family friend and she doesn't take kindly to people who put children in harm's way. So, I called her, and it took her less than a minute to make the necessary arrangements."
Gendo tensed at the name remembering the woman's words
"You' will pay for this insult Gendo Ikari. Be certain of that."
"Y-You cannot do this Third Child!" Gendo growled
"I already have Gendo, Rei Ayanami will be safer with me. As far you're concerned your problems have only just begun."
RING RING
"Grr What is it?"! Gendo demanded
"What?! What do you mean Rei is being removed from my custody?! There's a case being opened against me?! What is this foolishness?!"
Seeing the grim commander occupied, he briskly walked around him and made his way to the exit. Walking outside Shinji took in the sight of the grounds, checking his phone. Misato walked out following him
"I've never seen the Commander lose his composure like that before." the purple-haired woman commented
"There aren't many people that can get under his skin like that."
"I can't imagine there are," Shinji replied
"So where will you be living?" Misato asked with interest
"Somewhere," Shinji answered
"Where?"
" It is nothing for you to worry about."
At this, the purple-haired woman raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I think I'll make it my concern Mr. Ikari." she retorted
Shinji's eyes narrowed in a glare, his feeling his energy flare up. But quickly calmed himself keeping his power down.
"You needn't be concerned, I will be fine," Shinji said again keeping calm
"You're avoiding the question Shinji," Misato said
"I don't need to answer it, now if you'll excuse me."
"Listen!" Misato grabbed him roughly by the shoulder,
"Don't touch him!" a voice snapped
The pair looked to see a dark blue-haired woman dressed in an old-fashioned maid's uniform standing on the side. Her normally calm expression was visibly broken, showing a slightly angered expression behind her glasses.
"Who are you?" asked Misato seeing this woman appear out of nowhere
"My name is Fumitan Admoss, head maid of the Edenia family."
"I didn't know you'd be here Fumitan. I thought you were in Hong Kong with Granny and Mileena."
"Miss Sindel sent me to take you to your new accommodations in Ayoma, Ms. Ashla is waiting." the head maid explained sparing a glance at Misato
Shinji nodded making his way to the fancy black car in the distance.
"Hey! I was only trying to help." Misato said
"I understand, Ms. But grab him like that again, and you will need help, medical help that is," Fumitan warned following after the boy.
Shinji got in the back and sighed, and Fumitan got in the driver's seat and drove off to Shinji's new home. While passing the buildings, Shinji's thoughts were consumed with Eva Unit 01. When Shinji mentally connected with the Unit, it felt alive and in pain. The lingering feeling unnerved Shinji.
"Master Shinji," Fumitan said getting his attention
"Yes," he answered
"Something troubles you," Fumitan noted
"It's nothing Fumitan."
"Is it your father sir?"
"No, he is already having troubles of his own," Shinji answered
"What troubles sir?"
"The kind involving my newest houseguest."
"A new houseguest sir? Does your great-grandfather or Ms. Sindel know about this? Fumitan inquired
"More like Jade and Mr. Kaval of the Black Dragon Agency."
"Please explain sir."
Shinji spent the ten minutes explaining to Fumitan, that when he contacted Jade, she was already several steps ahead. She planted several moles within NERV, gathering evidence and spying on their activities. They reported their findings to Jade directly, cycling the information through several filters so Kaval could receive them. For Rei Ayanami, she was a case of child abuse and willful neglect.
Her injuries sustained from Unit 00's activation and her horrible living conditions. Those alone provided Jade with enough ammunition to get the girl removed from Gendo's custody for the time being. Fumitan commented that Jade never disappoints. The pair reached the Ayoma district, one of Japan's wealthiest secluded areas, they stopped at a tall silvery building. Upon exiting the vehicle Shinji sighed once more as he looked up at the building. Fumitan directed him inside where a clerk awaited him.
"Welcome home Mr. Edenia." the man greeted
"Thank you," Shinji replied walking toward the elevator
Shinji and Fumitan entered the elevator and went up to the top floor. After a short ride, the doors opened to a luxurious style home setting, (Think interior from rich crazy Asians)
"Welcome home Master Shinji," Laufeia bowed
Laufeia wore a green Chinese short-skirted maid outfit with slits on the side showing her thighs, her long hair tied in ox buns with short matching heels on her feet.
"Thank you Laufeia."
"You must be exhausted from your long trip master Shinji; would you like me to prepare a bath?"
Shinji sniffed himself. The foul smell of LCL still stained his clothes and was already saturating his skin.
"Yes, please do, I need to wash this smell off of me," Shinji said
"Very well, please follow me to the Onesen."
"Ms. Ashla, a word please," Fumitan said getting the woman's attention
Laufeia looked at Shinji who nodded and went ahead, while both servants conversed.
"I trust security measures are in place?" Fumitan inquired getting a nod
"Yes, per Ms. Edenia's instructions, defensive measures are in place in case of an attack," Laufeia answered
"Good, Ms. Sindel doesn't want to leave anything to chance. Especially with NERV's eyes upon Master Shinji."
"I understand, Ms. Admoss, I will not waiver in my duties."
"Good, I must be going, I have other matters to attend to. I'll be checking in now and then and so will Sheeva." Fumitan informed with a small smile
"Sheeva?" the green-haired woman paled remembering the beating she took at the Shokan's hands.
"How will she-"
"She has her ways Ms. Ashla, Sheeva is always concerned for master Shinji. Farewell for now." Fumitan said walking into the elevator
The elevator doors closed leaving Laufeia alone. Sighing she went to attend to her master, not noticing the small green butterfly on the patio.
Meanwhile, Shinji walked into the large onsen although not as big as Sapporo it would suffice. Stripping off his clothes, Shinji stepped into the hot water, letting its calming properties soothe his aching muscles and joints. Settling in the center Shinji let himself relax and his mind wander. Images of the Evangelion invaded his mind again.
"Rgh." Shinji grunted "Something that unnatural shouldn't exist."
The door opens to Laufeia, wearing only a robe semi interrupting his thoughts
"Master Shinji. may I join you?" she asked
"I... suppose." he absentmindedly said his back turned his mind still distracted
Walking into the onsen, Laufeia disrobed leaving her bare. Using a scrub brush and body soap, she gently washed Shinji's back using body soap causing his widen.
"Be at ease Master," Laufeia said softly poured hot water over the boy's shoulder, and started scrubbing.
Shinji relaxed and let Laufeia do her work, enjoying the soft feeling of her hands on his body. His mind wandered once more, this time other images assaulted Shinji's mind. This one was an obscure creature of darkness, another was a figure conjuring red lightning. Shinji tensed once more, with his servant feeling it,
"Is something troubling you master?"
"I'm just thinking, that's all," Shinji replied
"About what?"
"There's a lot at stake. I don't know if I'm up for the task. I'm not as strong as my great-grandfather."
"All you need do is your best master. And you will not have to shoulder this burden alone. Your family is always with you." Laufeia gently reminded
"Thank you Laufeia."
"And so is Cetrion." she thought
(Northern coast of Russia in the dark of the night)
Somewhere off the Russian north coast, a large discus structure surrounded by massive columns, with a flat cap-shaped circle in the center stood out in the water. In the skies above, an unmarked military troop transport carrier was seen flying high above the clouds avoiding radar detection below.
There were three occupants in the cargo hold. The first was the Lin Kuei warrior Chen, dressed in blue and black winter ninja garb, which bore the symbol the Lin Kuei on the right sleeve and a sword strapped on his back. The second was Jade wearing a thermal winter light green armored bodysuit with a hood, face mask, and goggles.
The third was a young girl, who had dark skin shoulder-length white/blue hair, and blue eyes dressed similarly to Jade, but she had a mask and helmet and was armed with twin Tonfas on her waist.
"Entering the drop zone." the pilot announced
"You didn't have to come with me. I could do this mission alone." the man said standing up
"I am aware of that, but I know the layout of the facility, due to the plans provided by the Black Dragon agent on the inside, I've studied them very thoroughly, you need me to guide you and to do significant damage to their experimental Evangelion unit, slow down if not stop its construction outright," said Jade
"They haven't completed their monstrosity yet?"
"No, they've suffered a series of "setbacks" over the last several years, courtesy of political pull."
"Hmph, politics made useful for once."
"Those fools are always concerned over money, and why NERV seems to be wasting so much of it," Jade said
"Money is a precious resource, and nobody likes to waste it," Chen replied walking to the cargo doors
"Indeed, are you ready for this Ming?" Jade asked the girl getting a nod
"Alright, remember your training, and stay close to me at all times." the woman instructed
"Yes, Mother" the girl nodded
The cargo bay door opened to the harsh icy night air. The plane was right above the base, in perfect position. The Lin Kuei nodded at the woman and dove off the plane.
"Was he wearing a parachute?" the girl asked putting on her parachute and then her helmet
"No, he wasn't, " the woman chuckled strapping on her parachute
The pair nodded, to each other jumping out in tandem, The Lin Kuei, spread out his arms revealing short wing gilders woven into his attire. His wings slowed his descent, and he sailed gently in the air, landing effortlessly on the base's roof.
He moved quickly and stealthily, carefully watching for motion sensors. His two companions gently floated down to the roof. Jade took out a handheld device that looked like an iPhone and motioned for Chen to follow her, and so he did to the northeast column right behind was a square-sized exhaust vent. Wasting no time, the trio went in one by one, entering one of the boiler rooms.
"Now we begin," Jade whispered
The trio exited the room to an empty hallway Jade spotted one of their surveillance cameras on the ceiling. She took out a small cylindrical device and fired it at the bottom of the camera.
"For this area that should create a fixed loop," Jade whispered
"Only for this area, for them to be completely blinded we'll need to infiltrate their security hub."
"Understood, find the security hub, I'll locate the cages," Chen said
"Fine," she whispered taking off
"Remember to stay close Ming," Jade told the girl who nodded
"Understood."
The Lin Kuei warrior, started down the brightly lit halls stealthily, looking up at the ceiling he noticed a camera on the left corner, the man took out a throwing star and took it out. He continued on his way, passing several dark corners, the man took cover, while personnel passed by, it would been easy, but he didn't want to alert the base. So patiently he blended into the shadows, meanwhile, his two female companions the woman, and the young girl stepped lightly and cautiously, eventually finding the security room.
The door opened to an employee walking out, and quickly the woman subdued the employee rendering him unconscious and dragging him away, taking his keycard. Giving the keycard to the girl she opened the door to another security looking at a multitude of monitors, one already darkened.
"Back already Nolan?" the man asked
The girl remained quiet approaching the man silently pulling out her Tonfa.
WACK!
"Argh!" the man groaned collapsing on the ground
The door opened as Jade walked in seeing the lone guard on the ground
"Well done." she praised looking at the monitors and finding their target on the upper right screen.
The massive greenish Evangelion was still under construction, its present location was in the central cage level.
"Okay, we have the Evangelion's location, but it looks like there's something else." said the woman switching to another screen. There a young girl with long brunette hair and glasses was stepping out of a cylindrical object
"She must be their chosen pilot," Ming said
"Yes, this could prove to be an unforeseen complication, we'll have to act quickly."
Tapping a small earpiece in her ear she contacted her male companion
"Chen we've reached the security room, the Evangelion is in the central cage.
("Understood, I'm headed there now, this won't take long, ") he replied ending the communication
"Weren't we supposed to destroy the Evangelion together?" the girl asked getting a shake of the head no
"That's only part of the mission, the next part is to gather sensitive intel. This part will be for you."
"Me?" she asked
"Yes, take this drive and download any information from any computer you find. They all should be linked up to the same mainframe. Ming nodded and asked
"But won't that alert the base?"
"Yes, but with any luck, Chen will have destroyed the Unit by then, now hurry and go, and be careful."
The girl nodded taking the drive and started down the hallway. Moving silently and freely since the monitors were down, the masked girl looked for the computer room or one of their offices. Meanwhile, Chen headed down to the central levels, his eyes landing on the target.
"Jade, I've reached the Eva, setting charges," Chen said over his comm
The Lin Kuei warrior took out three sets of explosive devices the size of baseballs and attached them to the upper back of the Eva first. Then, he lowered himself to the middle and set another set of explosives on the torso regions. Lastly, he went down to the base of one of its legs and attached the last explosive device to the leg of the Evangelion.
"Charges set, I'm heading to the extraction point," Chen reported
WHOOSH!
"Huh?!"
Embedded on the floor was a tri-kunai near his feet.
("What was that? I didn't copy.") Jade replied over the comm
"Lin Kuei scum!" a female voice growled
A masked woman wearing a scorpion-themed black and yellow leotard appeared from nowhere. Looking down at the tri-kunai again Chen saw it had the symbol of the Shirai Ryu.
"Y-you're Shirai Ryu!" Chen whispered in horror
"The last remaining Shirai Ryu, because of you and your master Tomas Vrbada," she uttered with venom in her tone
"Who are you?"
"I am Black Scorpion! Vengeance will be mine!" she declares

End notes: This may be the last chapter of Dragon's bloodline. Many of you voted yes, I should redo Dragon's bloodline to fit Mk11 and MK1. Let me tell you how this story was going to progress. Yes, there would have been a tournament. Shan would gain the dark magic to become Shang Tsung, and The Cyber Initiative would be a thing. Rei would have become like Fujin or Frost. Asuka would've had Johnny's power. Shinji would have made his way to the realms of the elder gods and faced off against Dark Raiden. And the question of who Shinji's love interest will be, Zero will not beat around the bush. It would have been Cetrion or at least a version of her I'm crazy like that, primus, her personality would be that of a soft yandere. I'll keep the poll up for a little while longer.
