"INGRID?!" Sam looked at Angela in confusion. "Who in the hell is Ingrid?"

"UH Well you know Ingrid Bergman."

"Ingrid Bergman? Come on Angela Dad just said no one hurts my Ingrid. I doubt he was talking about her."

"Well maybe he was dreaming about her."

"No, no. Dad asked you if they hurt you. And you said you were fine and then Dad said no one hurts my….." A shocked expression overcame her features.

"OH MY GOD!"

"What?"

"You! You're Ingrid!"

Angela laughed nervously.

"Wait. Kissing rock!" Sam squealed. "It was the two of you, wasn't it!"

"Samantha…."

"No, no. I remember….."

FLASHBACK

Mona: "So was it you two?" Mona and Sam looked between Tony and Angela expectantly

Tony: "Well to tell you the truth Mona. It was me and Ingrid. Right Angela?"

Angela: "Right Tony."

Mona and Sam exhaled in frustration. They were so hoping it had been them!

END OF FLASHBACK

"It was the two of you wasn't it? You and Dad were each other's first kiss weren't you?'

Angela sighed. 'Okay, it was."

"Oh this is so amazing! But, I don't understand a few things. Why did he say it was him and Ingrid-I mean why that name- and why didn't you ever tell us?"

"Okay, well Ingrid was all me. When Tony and I kissed that night I lied and told him my name was Ingrid."

"Why?"

"Well you know boys at that age. Or any age for that matter. I didn't want him kissing and telling so I lied about my name."

"Yeah, I can understand that. But why haven't you ever told any of us?"

"Because we thought if we did you and Mother would think it was destiny for us to be together and then you would start planning our wedding.." Angela threw her hands in the air.

Sam laughed. "Yeah, you're probably right about that. But Angela this does prove you were meant to be together. I mean after twenty odd years Dad takes a job as a housekeeper for the first girl he kissed?" Sam sighed a smile lightning up her face.

Angela groaned. "That is exactly why we never wanted you all to find out. We didn't want to get your hopes up."

"Okay, I can understand back then. But this is now. The two of you have been through so much together. You belong together. Everyone can see that. Do you?" Sam looked at her, her eyes and face filled with anticipation.

Angela nodded. "I do." She smiled. Her eyes filled with tears.

Sam reached across Tony and took Angela's hand in hers.

"Then we just need for Dad to wake up and you two can finally be together!"

Angela smiled and squeezed Sam's hand.

'Yeah, that's all we need."

They looked down at Tony, their hopes rising with each breath he took.

After a week Tony was finally able to leave the hospital. Mona and Jonathan stayed home so they could get everything ready. Andy had advised that Tony not climb any stairs for at least another two weeks so they made up his bed on the couch. The living room was filled with cards, balloons, and flowers from relatives, friends, and neighbors. Mrs. Rossini had stayed there for the past week cooking tons of meals so Tony wouldn't have to. She had been a basket case when she had found out and coped the only way she knew how.

Angela pulled up in the driveway and cut the engine.

"Well we're home. "

Tony looked up at the house.

"Yeah, I'm so happy to be here." His eyes teared up.

"So are we Dad." Sam said from the back seat.

'Okay, well. Let's get you inside so you can rest." Angela opened her door and closed it. She walked around to Tony's side and opened his door. Sam opened and got out from the back seat.

"Okay, here take my hand." Angela smiled at him.

Tony smiled back and slipped his hand in hers. He got up slowly and Angela put her arm around his waist.

"You okay?" She looked into his eyes to see if she noticed any pain.

Tony nodded his head. "I'm okay." He smiled.

"Okay, just go slowly." Angela told him.

He nodded and they walked slowly up the driveway. Sam walked behind in case he stumbled but he was able to make it to the front door.

"Home Sweet Home." He smiled. Angela smiled back and opened the door.

"SURPRISE!"

"WELCOME HOME!"

Mona, Jonathan, and Mrs. Rossini ran over to him. Mrs. Rossini was blubbering saying things in Italian.

"Okay, I know you're happy that Tony is back but we need to be careful." Angela told them.

"You're right Mom."

'Yeah, come on Tony. You need to lie down." Mona said.

Tony chuckled. "I've been lying down for the past week."

"And you're going to lie down some more young man!" Sam scolded him.

Tony looked at them. Their faces were knew it was no use arguing.

"All Right. Fine."

Angela helped him to the couch and he sat down.

He looked around the room.

"Wow! There's a lot of stuff here!"

"You deserve it Tony." Jonathan said.

"Definitely!" Sam agreed.

Mrs. Rossini sat beside Tony.

"Tony, you don't know how scared I was when I found out that you had been shot. You're like a son to me." Tears fell down her cheeks.

Tony took her hand in his. "I'm okay Mrs. R."

"Yeah, I know. And just so you know I cooked a lot of food for all of you."

Tony laughed. "I'm sure you did."

"Well hey I had to do something to keep myself occupied."

Tony smiled and she kissed him on the cheek. She stood up.

"Well I guess I'll start on the laundry now."

"The laundry? Mrs. R you don't have to…"

"Tony, I'm going to be here for at least the next two weeks. It's all been arranged."

"I don't get a say in any of this?"

"NO!" They all shouted.

"Okay."

"Dad, you need your rest."

"I know."

Mrs. Rossini left the living room and headed down to the basement.

Mona sat down beside him.

"Tony, you know that I'm not a mushy person. Hell, I make fun of Angela all the time for being so mushy and sensitive. But I'm going to make an exception for you." Her eyes filled with tears.

"Tony what you … .what you did for my little girl I'll never be able to repay you. I mean you saved her. You risked your life for hers. I shudder every time I think about what could have happened if you hadn't been there." She choked back a sob.

Tony felt his eyes filling.

"It was my pleasure, Mona."

Mona hugged him gently around his neck.

"Thank you Tony. Thank you for saving my baby." She whispered in his ear and then stood back up.

Jonathan sat on the arm of the couch.

"Tony, I just wanted you to know that you're my hero. You have been since the day you moved in here. But what you did for my Mom…well Grandma was right we'll never be able to repay you."

"AY OH. OH AY. I didn't do any of this expecting to be repaid. I did it because I love her." He looked up at Angela who was smiling through her tears.

"UMMM look guys this is great and everything and I appreciate all that you said but I need to talk to Angela alone."

'Okay, we understand." Sam said.

"Yeah, come in kids. Let's go to my place."

They all left via the back patio door.

"So."

"So."

"So you wanted to talk?"

'Yeah, I think we need to. Here, sit down." He patted the spot next to him.

She sat down and sighed.

"Tony I…'

"Angela…."

They both laughed.

"Go ahead." He said.

"Tony, I don't. I can't… I mean you saved me. You risked your life for me. You could have died and all because I didn't believe that you loved me! After I basically rejected you, you still came to my defense." Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She got up and went around the couch and grabbed the box of tissues that were on the table. She took one out and blew her nose. She then went back and sat down beside him.

"And I would do it again in heartbeat."

Angela looked at him. "You would?"

"Of course I would. Angela, when I realized what that pig had planned I just lost it. I mean I saw red. All that mattered was keeping you safe. Even if I went to jail for beating the shit out of him I didn't care. All that mattered to me-all that matters to me is that you are safe."

Angela smiled and took his hand in hers.

"Thank you Tony."

"My pleasure." He smiled and stroked her cheek. "And I think we have other things to discuss too. Or should I say other people?"

Angela nodded. "We do."

"So, you probably don't know this but Kathleen and I are no longer together."

"Actually, I know."

"You do?"

"Yeah, I uh I sort of eavesdropped on your conversation." She grimaced.

"You did?"

"Yeah, you see I had picked up the phone to call Isabelle and I heard the two of you talking. And I know I should have hung up but I didn't. And I heard everything."

"Oh."

"You're not mad?"

"No, I'm not mad. If anyone should be mad it should be you."

"Me?"

'Well yeah. I mean if I hadn't started things with Kathleen in the first place none of this would have ever happened!"

Angela sighed. "Tony, why did you? I mean why Kathleen? Why did you decide to abandon what we had, what we were building?!" She felt herself getting teary again.

Tony sighed and sat back. "Angela, I wish I could give you an explanation that would make all this make sense. I guess at the time I just couldn't see myself with you. And in a way I could with Kathleen." He felt her stiffen.

"No, please let me continue."

She nodded.

"It's just my feelings for you, well they scared the hell out of me. I mean you're my best friend and my boss. And Kathleen she's on my level and at the time I convinced myself that I should be with someone like her. "

"But what about our talk in Jamaica? You remember that? You basically asked me to wait for you while you figured things out. And I did! I gave you all the time you needed and you repaid me by having sex with another woman and then telling me that you didn't know if it was over with her!"

She removed her hand and took a few shuddering breaths and put her head between her knees. Her stomach was all in knots.

"Angela I.."

She held her hand up. After a few moments she lifted her head back up.

"Tony, I don't think you understand how much you hurt me. I mean I could have gotten past the fact that you had sex with her that night in the hotel. I would have been hurt of course but I would have been able to move on. But the fact that you wanted to keep dating her?! Well that-my God Tony you might as well have stabbed me in the heart because that's what it felt like."

"Angela, I am so sorry. I know that getting involved with Kathleen was the dumbest thing I have ever done. But it was like I said my feelings for you scared the hell out of me. They were-are so intense. I have never felt like this before. I mean yeah I loved Marie with all my heart. But we were teenagers and then a young married couple. And yeah if she hadn't died we would still be married and living in Brooklyn with more kids but that's not what happened."

Angela took his hand in hers.

"And when I realized that I was falling in love with you-that I was in love with you I told myself that it would never work. I mean why would a sophisticated, incredible, beautiful, amazing, sweet, wonderful, and beautiful woman ever see in me?"

Angela put her hands on either side of his face.

"You want to know what I see in you? I see an incredible man who moved away from the only home he knew so his daughter could have a safe place to grow up. I see an amazing man who was there for my son after his own Father abandoned him. I see the man who became my confidant and best friend. But most of all I see the man that I love with all my heart." She smiled.

He smiled back. "I love you too. But what about Andy? Aren't you still together?"

Angela shook her head. "Actually I broke up with him."

"When?"

"Well…. It was the day you got shot. Remember when I came home and you asked me where I had been and I told you that I had gone out for a drive?"

"Yeah."

"I was at Andy's. I knew that I couldn't keep leading him on. It wasn't fair so I knew I had to end things."

"I see. And I take it he wasn't too happy?"

"Oh no. He was so upset. And when I realized that he would be the one operating on you I panicked. I thought for sure he would do something to you as revenge."

"Angela! Andy is a professional!" He shook his head.

"I know. I know. Isabelle had to talk me down. But Tony, at the time I was so scared. I mean I saw you get shot. I heard the gunshot. I saw you fall to the ground. And all that blood…"

"Hey come here."

She put her head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her.

"I'm okay. Everything is okay now."

He felt her body shaking and waited until she got herself under control.

"Hey, do you remember when we stood up for Paul and Isabelle at their wedding?"

He felt her nod.

"And when we were dancing?"

She lifted her head up.

"I do."

"And do you remember what we talked about?"

"Yeah, we talked about if we ever thought about getting married again."

"Yeah, we both said the thought had crossed our minds. But only with the right person."

"Yeah, only with the right person."

He smiled.

She smiled.

"I love you. I know we still have a lot to work through but I want to make it clear that I love you with all my heart." He said.

"I love you too."

He leaned in and captured her lips with his. He was right they still had a lot to work through. But at least they were finally with the right person.

TEN YEARS LATER:

"I love this place!" Angela snuggled close to Tony.

"Hey, me too. After all it's one of my favorite places to mike ot with you!"

Angela laughed. "That's make out!"

"EH Toe-may-toe. Toe-ma-toe!"

"Okay. Okay."

"But, that wasn't the only reason I brought you here."

"It's not?"

"No, after all it will be our tenth wedding anniversary soon."

"I know. I still can't believe it!"

"Yeah, me too." He chuckled. "And we're going to have a lot of friends and family coming to celebrate with us . So I wanted us to have a quiet night so I could give you this."

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a box.

"Tony? What?"

"Here, open it." He handed it to her.

She looked at him and then at the box. She opened it and gasped.

"Oh it's so beautiful!"

There nestled in in the box was a pink rose and pearl necklace.

"Oh Tony! I love it!" She started crying.

He smiled and wiped her tears away.

"Would you like me to put it on?"

She nodded and turned her head so he could fasten it around her throat. She turned back around.

"It looks perfect." He smiled.

"Thank you Tony."

"You're welcome Mrs. Micelli."

"So…. you wanna mike ot now?" He winked.

"I thought you'd never ask!"
