Legacies and Lightning: Chapter 29
Kumo Chunin exam stadium: With Hiruzen, A, Uzui and Mei
Hiruzen was looking down in the arena wide eyed after they called the names for the first match; Yuui vs Ino Yamanaka… a six foot four inch tall, power house Kumo Kunoichi vs a five foot tall girl who probable weighted one hundred pounds soaking wet.
"Oh boy… Inoichi is probably going crazy right now" Hiruzen said under his breath.
"That girl must have some dog shit luck" A said sitting beside Hiruzen "I mean…how is this possible?"
Mei Terumi looked over to Hiruzen and spoke "Lord Hokage, be honest with me" Mei said "how much of a chance does that Yamanaka girl have in winning the match?"
Hiruzen looked at her and spoke "If I was to be completely honest…" he began "I think there's a higher chance of Yuui accidentally killing Ino than Ino winning; there is absolutely no conceivable way I see Ino winning". After saying this Hiruzen stood up and made a hand sign "I'll be right back" he said before vanishing in a swirl of leaves.
Down in the arena: with Yuui, Ino and Suzui
Suzui acting as a referee was standing in between Yuui and Ino and the differences in confidence was evident; Yuui was looking at Ino with a massive smile on her face as her hair floated and lightning crackled from her eyes. Yuui's excitement was so intense that she subconsciously activated her lightning cloak partially making her eyes and crackle hair float.
Ino however looked even paler than usual and was shaking in fear; she was honestly contemplating just quitting but was too scared to just forfeit and risk the humiliation.
Yuui raised her finger and dragged it across her neck in a slitting motion "get ready to go down blondie; I'm gonna enjoy this" Yuui said "I don't usually hold grudges or hate people, but damn…you piss me off". Ino swallowed as she couldn't speak; just then a swirl of leaves fluttered next to the group of women and Hiruzen appeared.
"Hello Yuui" Hiruzen said as Yuui looked a him, her smile still present on her face and lighting still crackling "huh, lightning from the eyes? Makes you look evil"; Yuui shrugged and Hiruzen continued. "Look, Yuui, can you try not to kill Ino here; as a favor to me?" Hiruzen asked and Yuui shrugged.
"No promises" Yuui said simply; Hiruzen looked over to Ino and made a hand sign.
"Can't say I didn't try" Hiruzen said before vanishing in a swirl of leaves once more.
'Oh, Kami above; someone help me' Ino thought in a panic.
In the stands: With Sakura and Kakashi
"HAHAHAHA" Sakura laughed in her seat as she pointed down below "sucks to be you piggy"; Kakashi who was sitting next to her looked at her wide eyed.
"What the hell; isn't she your friend or something?" Kakashi said
In another section: With Anko, Kurenai, Asuma, Guy and Hayate
"HAHAHAHA" Anko laughed in her seat as she pointed down below "sucks to be you blondie"; Kurenai smacked Anko on the back of the head making her yelp. "Oww… what the hell?" Anko whined.
"What's wrong with you Anko; how can you laugh at this?" Kurenai chastised "Ino is completely unprepared for this fight; anyone else maybe… but not Yuui".
"Of course not; she trained with me and Lee" Guy said with a triumphant smile "she has the power of youth coursing through her body; I mean looks at the lightning coming from her eyes".
"Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy" Asuma said nervously as he was chain smoking his cigarettes "this is not good, this is totally not good".
"Are you ok Asuma?" Hayate asked and Asuma looked at him with a look of resignation.
"I think I'm about to lose my job" Asuma said.
In another section: With Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, Choza Akimichi, Tsume Inuzuka and Hiashi Hyuga
"Let me go; my baby girl's gonna die" Inoichi shouted as the other clan heads tried to hold him back as he tried to rush down and get Ino.
"Calm down Inoichi" Shikaku said as he tried to restrain his long time friend with his shadow possession jutsu.
"I'm sure nothing will happen to her" Choza said as he tried to pin Inoichi's arms to his sides in a bear hug.
Tsume was holding his legs with her dog Kuromaru as this happened "Hiashi, knock his ass out" Tsume ordered.
Hiashi without hesitation activated his Byakugan and sent a gentle fist strike to the back of Inoichi's neck; the strike knocked the man out and he slumped to the ground "damn fool" he said.
In the waiting area: With Naruto, Yakumo, Mayui, Koyoi, Lee and the other genin
Naruto was munching on some complementary popcorn while looking down below at Yuui as she got ready to fight Ino; after shoveling a handful in his mouth he spoke.
"Yuui's so lucky" Naruto said breaking the silence and gaining everyone's attention "she gets a free win right off the bat; I mean she's fighting the weakest one here".
"Don't count Ino out Naruto" Shikamaru said seriously and Naruto looked at him "Ino may not be all that good at taijutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu… kenjutsu… Fuinjutsu…shurikenjutsu…". Shikamaru paused and really thought hard about it "huh, I was going somewhere with that but I drew a blank" he said before looking back down at the arena at Ino "yeah…she's gonna die".
Back with Yuui, Ino and Suzui
"Ok ladies, are you ready?" Suzui asked as she raised her hand.
"HELL YEAH" Yuui cheered as she got into her taijutsu stance.
"Y-yeah" Ino said as she also got into her stance 'calm down Ino, you can do this; it's not completely hopeless'. 'I have my clans jutsu on my side; I'll just use it to take over her body and make 'her' forfeit' Ino thought trying to build her confidence.
"Alright then" Suzui said as she brought down her hand and jumped back "BEGIN"; Ino shifted her weight and got ready to go through her hand signs.
'Get ready to-' Ino began until Yuui activated her lightning cloak and dashed forward closing the distance before Ino could even finish her thought.
Yuui brought back her left fist and threw a punch aimed towards Ino's face; Yuui's hand connected with Ino's jaw as she felt bone and teeth break as Ino was sent sailing across the arena. Ino bounced off the ground several times before skidding to a stop; upon stopping everyone in the stadium saw the damage.
The right side of Ino's face where Yuui's fist contacted was broken; her jaw was fractured, her eye socket was busted, her nose was broken, her skin was burnt and several teeth were missing. Luckily for Ino she was knocked out and couldn't feel the pain although she was twitching and coughing.
The crowd looked on in stunned silence for a few moments until they erupted into cheers and 'whoops' as Yuui won the round in a single blow.
"We have the winner of the first round of the chunin exam finals" Suzui announced "Kumo's very own princess Yuui"; Yuui deactivated her lightning cloak and looked around the stadium.
She then began to wave to the citizens of Kumo "thank you everyone; I really appreciate you all" Yuui said before she looked over to the waiting area where the other genin were. Yuui rushed over and ran up the steep walls towards the waiting area railing; Yuui vaulted over the rails and looked over at Naruto, Yakumo, Mayui, Koyoi and Lee.
"HELL YEAH YUUI" Naruto cheered as he rushed over and hugged her.
"YOU DID IT" Mayui cheered as she hugged her as well.
"Nice job on the victory" Koyoi said with a chuckle.
"Oh come on guys, I wouldn't call that a victory" Yuui said bashfully while blushing "I mean, it was super duper easy; it was more of a warm up if anything". "Besides" Yuui said as she looked down and saw Ino being carried off on a stretcher "I really didn't like that bitch; her and that pink haired girl were the worst".
Naruto chuckled as he let go of Yuui "yeah, seeing you fight Sakura would've been pretty funny too" Naruto said.
"Well I'm still happy you passed Yuui" Yakumo said with a smile.
"Atta girl Yakumo; praising you friend on a job well done, how youthful of you" Lee said as he patted her shoulder; Yakumo blushed at this and smiled.
"Thanks Lee" Yakumo said shyly.
"I wonder who's going to be next" Yuui said as she leaned up against the railing "I kind of hope it's you Naruto".
Naruto hearing this smiled and looked over at the board "so do I, and I hope I get someone good to fight" he said.
In the Kage box
"Wow, that was a shit show" Uzui said making A laugh.
"That scrawny chick didn't even last a minute" A laughed making Mei and Uzui sweat drop.
"I knew this was coming, but it still doesn't help" Hiruzen said rubbing his face "I just hope the next fight will be better".
"We'll see Lord Hokage" A said as he stood up and grabbed his microphone again "alright people, time for the second round"; the board lit up and began to go through names at a fast rate.
Back in the waiting area: with Naruto, Yuui, Yakumo and the others
Naruto was crossing his fingers as he was looking at the board as it shuffled through names "come on, come on, come on, come on" Naruto repeated under his breath as the names flashed in front of him.
As the names stopped A spoke over the speakers "alright then next match is; Yakumo Kurama vs Yoroi Akado " A announced.
"Crap" Naruto said snapping his fingers; Naruto turned over to Yakumo and spoke "well at least one of us is going up next". Yakumo smiled at this and nodded. "Kick some butt Yakumo" Naruto said.
"We'll be cheering for you up here" Lee said, giving her a thumbs up and a shining smile.
Yakumo clenched her fists and spoke "I'll do my best" Yakumo said as she hopped over the railing to the arena below.
"Good luck Yoroi" Kabuto said to his teammate "try not to underestimate her; she's a dangerous one"; Yoroi looked to Kabuto, his eyes covered by his dark sunglasses and face obscured by his mask.
"Sure" Yoroi said before he jumped down after Yakumo; as this happened Naruto leaned over to Yuui and whispered.
"Looks like Yakumo will be the one with the first real fight" Naruto said and Yuui shrugged.
"We'll see" Yuui said as she looked at both participants down below "but I'm sure she can handle him; she's a tougher than she looks".
In the arena: With Yakumo, Suzui and Yoroi
Yakumo stood across from Yoroi with Suzui standing in between the both of them waiting to begin the fight "ok you two; are you ready?" Suzui asked and both Yakumo and Yoroi nodded as they got into their taijutsu stances. "Alright then, second match; Yakumo vs Yoroi… get ready" Suzui said as she raised her arm in the air before bringing it down and jumping back.
As soon as Suzui said those words Yoroi rushed forward opening his hand in an attempt to grab her; as his hand neared Yakumo she reached out and grabbed onto his arm with both of her hands.
Yakumo spun around and put her back to Yoroi's chest and using all of her leverage performed a shoulder throw, sending the older boy to the ground; Yoroi hit the ground hard and he felt the air leave his lungs.
Yoroi barely recovered enough to avoid the stomp from Yakumo as he rolled to the side and jumped away; he took out some shuriken from his thigh holster and threw them towards Yakumo.
Yakumo quickly pulled out a kunai and knocked the shuriken out of the air before throwing her kunai at Yoroi; Yoroi dodged to the side and the kunai flew by him. Yakumo used this opportunity to go through hand signs and begin her genjutsu; Yoroi took a defensive stance as anticipated a ninjutsu.
However he witnessed Yakumo fade away and like an apportion and began to look around 'where'd she go?' Yoroi thought as he looked around trying to find her. Yoroi heard dirt skid on his left side and he turned ready to strike 'got you' Yoroi thought as he turned his head; Yoroi saw nothing there and became confused until he was hit from his right side.
Yakumo was using both an ocular and a hearing genjutsu at the same time and used the combined use to sneak up on Yoroi's right side; Yakumo delivered a hard punch to his right kidney with her left fist making him shout in pain.
The pain was enough to break the genjutsu on Yoroi but not before Yakumo sent an uppercut to his chin knocking his head up; Yakumo sent a kick with her right leg aiming it at Yoroi's stomach. Yakumo was surprised when Yoroi reached up and caught her foot before it could make contact; almost immediately Yakumo began to scream in pain surprising everyone.
In the stands: With Anko, Kurenai, Guy, Asuma and Hayate
"What the hell, he's not even hitting her?" Anko said confused.
"She's in a lot of pain, but how?" Kurenai asked wide eyed.
"The boy might have superior strength" Guy said rubbing his chin.
"I don't think so" Hayate said before he let out a few coughs "I- *cough* think he has an ability".
"But what is it?" Asuma said.
With Naruto, Yuui and the others
"What the heck?" Yuui said wide eyed as she looked down in the arena.
"He's only got her leg, how's he hurting her?" Naruto said.
Hinata was a few feet away and she activated her Byakugan as she did she looked closely and she went wide eyed "Y-Yakumo's chakra, it's getting weaker" Hinata said softly but just loud enough for Naruto and Yuui to hear "i-it's like he's sucking it out of her".
"You're kidding" Naruto said and Hinata shook her head as he looked back down "shit, she's in trouble".
"I wouldn't go that far" Lee said speaking up "Yakumo is going to be fine, just watch"; Naruto looked at Lee surprised before looking back down.
Down in the arena: With Yakumo and Yoroi
Yakumo was screaming in pain as he chakra was being stolen from her and Yoroi chuckled 'heh, got you' Yoroi thought as gripped Yakumo foot tighter 'just a few more seconds and you'll be-'.
Yakumo using all her strength in her other leg jumped up and spun around sending a spinning back kick to Yoroi's face; the back of Yakumo's heel connected with his cheek bone, knocking off his sunglasses and sending him to the ground.
Yoroi smacked the ground hard dazed from the blow to the head and was beginning to get back up when he saw Yakumo rushing towards him; Yakumo grabbed his head and sent a knee right to his nose breaking it from behind the mask he was wearing.
Yoroi's head snapped back and he fell onto his back as Yakumo got on top of him and began to rain down a series of fast swings to his face; Yoroi was too stunned to raise his arms and with one final punch to the jaw Yoroi was knocked out.
Yakumo got up and walked back a few feet before falling to a knee as she felt exhaustion take her over; Suzui rushed over and looked over Yoroi and analyzed his injuries.
"Yoroi is unconscious; the winner is Yakumo Kurama" Suzui announced and the spectators in the began to cheer; Yakumo hearing this tried to rise to her feet but immediately fell back down, Suzui ran over and helped her up. "It's ok sugar, I got you" Suzui said as she began to carry Yakumo to the infirmary "MEDIC!"
As soon as she said that three medics ran out, one ran to Yakumo while the other two ran over to Yoroi; the two medics put him on a stretcher and proceeded to carry him off the field.
With Naruto, Yuui and Lee
"YEAH YAKUMO!" Naruto cheered as he began to jump around "I knew she could do it"; Yuui looked at Naruto with a smile and was about to speak until Naruto grabbed her in a hug and surprisingly he picked her up and began to spin her around. "You guys passed, you're gonna be fighting each other in the next round" Naruto cheered oblivious to Yuui's reddening face.
'Oh crap not again' Yuui thought as her heart began to race; before she knew it Naruto put her down and he turned to Lee 'aww damn it- no… bad Yuui'. Yuui slapped her cheeks and began to shake her head and Mayui was looking at her with a smile on her face.
'Oh my god she's such a dork' Mayui thought.
"I knew Yakumo could do it; she has the flames of youth burning in her soul" Lee said and Naruto nodded vigorously.
"Damn right she does, she kicked his ass" Naruto said as he went back to the railing and looked at the board once more "and soon it'll be my turn".
With Hiruzen, A, Uzui and Mei
"Huh, that wasn't a bad fight; wish it could've been a little longer though" A said and the other Kage nodded.
"Still, she did a lot better than that Yamanaka girl; tell me Hiruzen, what's special about her?" Mei asked curious.
"She's a genjutsu prodigy and about four years ago she nearly destroyed the village when her inner demon began to run wild" Hiruzen said nonchalantly and didn't see the looks of surprise on the others faces.
"WHAT!? AND YOU DIDN'T TELL US" A shouted and Hiruzen looked at him.
"Naruto defeated it, relax" Hiruzen said and Uzui patted A's arm.
"Calm down dear; and activate the board again" Uzui said in a soft voice.
"Damn it all" A said as he stood up "nobody tells me nothing"; A grabbed the microphone once more and spoke. "Alright, at least with that match we had a little excitement; now then, lets continue" A said as he activated the board once more and names began to flicker.
Back with Naruto
'Come on, come on, come on' Naruto begged in his mind 'pick me, pick me, pick me'; the board stopped and Naruto went wide eyed.
"Next two fighters are; Naruto Uzumaki vs Kabuto Yakushi" A announced over the speakers.
"YEAH" Naruto cheered as loud as he could before he activated his lightning cloak and jumped down to the arena below; Naruto spun around and looked back at the stands "lets go four eyes; I'm gonna wipe the floor with you!"
Kabuto walked to the edge of the railing and Yuui had a smirk on her face 'oh man this is gonna be easy; this guy has no idea what Naruto's capable of' Yuui thought 'looks like me, Naruto and Yakumo will all be-'
"I forfeit" Kabuto said loudly making Yuui pause her thoughts and look at him wide eyed.
"WHAT!?" Yuui shouted.
With Anko and the other jonin
"WHAT!?" Anko shouted jumping up from her seat while the other jonin sensei looked on wide eyed.
With Naruto and Suzui in the arena
"WHAT!?" Naruto shouted as Suzui covered her ears.
With A and the other Kage
"WHAT!?" A shouted into the microphone making everyone in the arena flinch "THEN WHY THE FUCK DID YOU EVEN COME TODAY!?"
With Kabuto, Yuui and the others
"Well I was hoping to fight a weaker opponent for my first round; but now that I see that it's Naruto… well" Kabuto said rubbing the back of his head "I don't feel like getting hurt needlessly".
"Oh are you freakin' kidding me?" Yuui said slapping her forehead.
With Naruto and Suzui
"What the hell dude, come down here and fight me" Naruto demanded but Kabuto just walked away; Suzui rolled her eyes and spoke.
"Kabuto Yakushi forfeited the match; winner by default… Naruto Uzumaki" Suzui announced; the entire stadium errupted into a symphony of 'boo's' and jeers.
"What is his dog shit?" "I took a day off of work for this" "Godddamn it" the crowd shouted in anger and Naruto was now fuming,
"Ok Naruto head back up to the box and wait for-" Suzui began.
"NO" Naruto shouted as he waved his fist in the air "no, no, no, no, no; I worked my butt off for two months for this, I want a match, I demand a match, this is bullshit…"; Naruto began to rant and rave in justifiable anger as the rest of the stadium began to agree.
With Hiruzen and the others Kage
'Oh Kami this is a total disaster' Hiruzen thought as he turned his head and looked at one of his anbu "Tenzo… escort Naruto off the field please"; the anbu named 'Tenzo' looked at him and spoke from behind his mask.
"And how do you wish me to do that Lord Hokage?" Tenzo asked rhetorically and Hiruzen gave him a blank look.
"I'll leave it up to your imagination" Hiruzen said as he lit his pipe 'I'm too old for this shit'.
(10 minutes later) In the Genin waiting area: With Naruto and the others
"Oh come on… let me out" Naruto whined from behind the bars of his cage; Naruto was sitting in a three foot by three foot wooden cage made by 'Tenzo' who was sitting on top of it.
"You need to relax Uzumaki" Tenzo said calmly and everyone else sweat dropped at this other than Sasuke and Neji who were both chuckling at the sight of Naruto.
'Heh… the wild monkey is finally in a cage' Neji thought in amusement.
'About time someone locked up that idiot' Sasuke thought before A's voice came back over the speakers.
"Alright, that last match was a shit show; time for the next one" A announced as the names began to cycle once more; the entire stadium looked at the board as the next two names appeared "Neji Hyuga and Koyoi; come down and fight".
"Alright, I get to fight" Koyoi cheered as he skipped over to Naruto "don't worry buddy, I'll win for you"; Naruto reached his hand out from between the bars and they fist bumped.
"Kick his stuck up ass for me will you?" Naruto asked and Koyoi nodded.
"I'm standing right here peasant" Neji said with a scowl.
"KICK IS PAMPERED, RICH BOY, STUCK UP ASS FOR ME KOYOI" Naruto said in an even louder voice making Neji gain a tic mark.
"You better watch closely Naruto; because after I'm done with this cross dressing pervert… you're next" Neji said before jumping over the railing.
"Man, he has issues" Koyoi said before gaining a smirk "it's kinda hot"; Naruto groaned at this and Koyoi began to walk over to the railing as well. As he did so he walked by Hinata "hey there cutie, sorry but I'm about to beat up your cousin" Koyoi said before blowing her a kiss and making Hinata blush. Koyoi giggled and jumped over the railing to the arena down below and Yuui and Mayui scooted next to Hinata.
"Oooh Hinata; are you into girlie boys?" Yuui said teasing her.
"Wow, Hinata, who would've thunk it" Mayui said and Hinata began to turn bright red.
"That's very progressive of you Hinata" Shino said from behind her and Hinata looked at him "I'm surprised with you conservative upbringing that you'd be romantically interested with a member of the LGBT community".
"Stop it" Hinata said as she buried her face in her hands as both Yuui and Mayui began to laugh.
Haku who was seeing this looked on with a with a blank expression 'and what am I… chopped liver?' Haku thought.
Meanwhile; in a hallway: With Kabuto
Kabuto began to go through hand signs until he slammed his hand onto the ground and a 'poof' of smoke erupted; a small snake appeared and looked at him.
"Lord Kabuto, are you ready to go?" The snake asked and Kabuto nodded.
"Yes I am; everything worked out and I didn't have to lift a finger" Kabuto said as he picked up the snake and vanished in a puff of smoke.
……
Kabuto appeared in a puff of smoke and looked around, he had been reverse summoned into a lush green forest; all around him were sound ninja in full battle gear "Lord Kabuto" one of the ninja said and they all bowed.
"You're here earlier than expected Kabuto" came a voice and Kabuto looked behind himself and saw Orochimaru walking up with a smile "is the nine tails out of commission?"
"No my Lord, even better" Kabuto said with a smile himself "I forfeited our match and now he's stuck in a wooden cage and advancing to the next round; he was quite angry with my forfeit".
"Hmmm" Orochimaru hummed in amusement "as long as you were able to slip away unnoticed; besides Yoroi and Misumi can handle the other half of our plan".
"Of course my Lord" Kabuto said as they both jumped into the trees and stood on the branches "now then my Lord, shall we begin?"
"Yes we shall; after all-" Orochimaru said as he looked towards Konoha off in the distance "the perfect time for a snake to eat the chicks… is when the hen leaves the nest". Orochimaru let out a dark chuckle before looking towards Kabuto "lets get started shall we?" Orochimaru said.
