The sun has yet to rise in Rome but Bonnie can hear the noise from outside through the open window.

There is enough light inside the hotel room that she can make out his sleeping face next to her. His features are lax, in sleep he is calm, so unlike the raging storm of lust he displayed in the past two days.

Two days

Heat rises to her face.

Klaus was right all along, one night was not enough. Kissing him, touching him, it opened the floodgates to an unbidden passion she never thought possible. Two days later, Bonnie is still in his bed wondering if this is all a dream. As she contemplates his peaceful face, invisible strings tug at her heart.

Klaus is sprawled on his side, one arm thrown possessively over her waist.

Does he realize how vulnerable he is in that moment?

Klaus Mikaelson the vampire all others fear is sleeping peaceful next to a witch, a witch that came close to killing him before. But she's also the same witch whose body he has undoubtedly worshiped for the past two days. The heat spreads all over her body, jolting her exhausted limbs awake. After everything they have done, after all the intense pleasure they experienced together, she still wants more.

How can that be possible?

How can she crave him so much?

Her fingers brush his hair before slowly moving to his forehead. Bonnie tenderly traces his nose, his cheek, his lips, and chin. He doesn't stir at all. Her fingers draw invisible lines over his neck and arm, tracing his tattoos before settling over his chest.

His eyes flutter open right as she rests her palm over his heart.

Something pulses inside him, something dark and dangerous; hidden under his skin.

Bonnie's heart skyrockets at the lazy grin he gives her.

Is this real? Or has she completely lost her mind and is living in dreams?

When he pulls her closer until her breasts are deliciously pressed against his chest, she realizes just how real this is. Even her most wicked fantasies cannot compare to the real thing.

His mouth is hot against hers.

They kiss with familiarity, with the knowledge of old lovers.

The bed sheet twined around the lower half of his body slips down as Bonnie hooks her leg around his waist.

They both gasp, nude bodies perfectly aligned together.

Bonnie rubs herself against him. There is no shame, no hesitation, she wants him plain and simple. She shouldn't be able to move after all the crazy sex they had but her magic finds a way to heal her aches and pains; and keep up with her libido. The perks of being a powerful witch and a one-thousand-year-old hybrid means that they are not limited like a normal human couple would be.

Sex with Klaus is unlike anything she has ever experienced before.

Bonnie thought she knew what it was like to want and enjoy sex, but everything she knew before pales in comparison to this. Klaus has opened up a whole new world of carnal pleasure and far from being content with all she has learned in the past forty-eight hours, she wants more.

Klaus doesn't need for Bonnie to voice her desire; he knows exactly what she wants, he can see it in her eyes. Holding her hip with one hand, he pushes inside her without preamble.

Bonnie gasps.

Klaus groans as her wet heat welcomes him in.

They fit perfectly together, like two pieces of a puzzle.

Klaus rolls her over, watching mesmerized as her figure rises above him.

Her hands move over his chest, sighing contently when his hands palm her breasts, fingers teasing her nipples until she's arching and begging for more.

Using his hybrid speed, Klaus rolls her over, and raises her leg up so it rests over his shoulder.

Bonnie cries out as he begins to pump into her rapidly. He is practically moving at vampire speed and she sobs from the intense pleasure it brings.

Klaus is not afraid to let his animalistic side out and Bonnie finds that she enjoys it very much. The speed in which he moves inside her, the way he growls, and nips her neck, sometimes sucking hard on her pulse point until the skin nearly breaks, it drives her wild.

It's exhilarating.

At any second, he can rip her throat open and drain her dry.

Bonnie for her part, can easily break his neck or set him aflame.

It's thrilling to be dancing with death every time they come together, and to know that they are evenly matched.

One of her hands grabs the bedsheet and the other grips his shoulder, nails sinking into his flesh until she draws blood. She's panting, body glistening with sweat as he continues to drive her wild with each of his hard thrusts.

Klaus kisses his way down her neck and chest until he takes her left nipple into his mouth, hungrily sucking on it until his sharp teeth graze the sensitive bud.

Bonnie screams.

He's buried so deep inside her; she feels like they're melting together until they are one and the same. "Klaus!" Bonnie thrashes underneath him, clenching around him like a vice as she nears her climax.

Klaus groans as he continues to slam into her, hitting all the right spots until she trembles on the edge of release.

When he sinks his fangs on her breast, Bonnie sees stars behind her eyelids.

Her entire body is consumed by an explosive orgasm.

He thrusts once, twice, before his body goes completely still with his own release.

He slumps down on top of her but he is careful not to crush her.

Bonnie trembles beneath him, her body still being rocked by the aftershocks.

Is this what it feels like to die and be reborn?

She's honestly surprised she can still form a coherent thought.

Klaus licks the wound on her breast, savoring the taste of her powerful blood and taking a greedy suck before fully closing it. He pricks his thumb and rubs his blood against her areola to make sure his bite won't leave scar on her flesh.

Bonnie lets out a small whimper, face twisting in pain when he pulls out of her.

Klaus bites two of his fingers and slips the bloody digits inside her, easing her discomfort immediately.

Bonnie's eyes blink open, his blood and her magic re-energizing her.

Klaus rests his elbows on either side of her body, hovering above her. "Good morning," he whispers before clamming her lips in long kiss. The coppery taste of her blood still lingers on his tongue and his stubble tickles her a bit but she doesn't mind.

When they finally break apart, Klaus smiles down at her.

Bonnie smiles back. "Morning," she whispers before pulling his head down for another kiss.

This is the third best morning ever.

Never in a million years did Bonnie imagined she would spend two days locked in a hotel room, fucking Klaus Mikaelson of all people.

As she gets in the shower and stares at the water running down the drain, she waits for the guilt to pierce her heart.

It doesn't come.

If anything, she feels ready for another round.

This is the third morning in a row that she wakes up without feeling any guilt.

She closes her eyes, hot water washing away the fluids of their morning coupling. Her body aches, it's a good kind of ache though (and one that won't last for long thanks to her magic) the kind that reminds her of all the delicious things she did with Klaus. Her body has been pushed to the limit in a glorious way.

What in the world has gotten into them?

Klaus did tell her that one night might not be enough but two days later (going into their third) the lust she feels for him is stronger than ever; getting him out of her system is not as easy as she imagined. Thinking of Klaus, already has her smiling like crazy.

Who would have ever thought that they would be so compatible in bed?

She closes her eyes and rubs her skin with soap.

He did indeed worship every inch of her; his scent even clings to her like a second skin. It's something Bonnie doubts will change. He has claimed her in every imaginable way, she even allowed him to feed from her, something not even Enzo did.

Klaus has truly marked her as his.

When she steps out of the bathroom in a fluffy white towel, their breakfast has already arrived.

Bonnie's stomach rumbles loudly. She's famished.

It's such a domestic scene, the two of them in matching white robes, sitting on the balcony while enjoying a hearty Italian breakfast.

"You alright?" He asks upon seeing the pensive look on her face.

"Yeah…just thinking…"

"About?"

"This…us…"

"We should have done this sooner."

Bonnie laughs. "Things were so different back then, we were so different too…" she has grown a lot, thanks to all the sacrifices and the pain, she has finally learned to put herself first and Klaus has also been through his own journey. "It wouldn't have worked out then."

"I'm surprised you're still here," he tells her. "You seem to enjoy running away from me."

"I thought about it," Bonnie admits sheepishly. "I must have talked myself out of coming to your hotel at least a dozen times."

"And yet, you came." He's watching her in that intense way of his, the kind that makes her stomach coil. "Was it worth it?"

Bonnie feels the heat spread all over her body. "Absolutely," she confesses in a shaky voice. "The past two days have been..." she pauses. "Mind-blowing…I've never experienced anything like it."

"Mind-blowing," he repeats with a smirk.

Bonnie rolls her eyes at the proud grin he offers her. His prowess in bed is without question but she doesn't feel the need to boost his ego even more than she already has. She decides to focus on her food, taking a couple of bites and chewing silently.

"Where are you planning to go next?" He asks after a while.

Bonnie takes a sip of coffee before responding, "Florence."

Klaus laughs and shakes his head.

"What's so funny about that?" Bonnie questions.

"That's where I was planning on going next."

"I don't know why I feel surprised," Bonnie mutters. "It seems you and I are always heading in the same direction."

His face turns serious then. "Why is that?"

Bonnie shrugs. It's strange that they keep running into each other but after the mind-blowing sex marathon they had, she's not complaining. If anything, she wishes they had run into each other sooner.

"I'm due to check out today," Klaus informs her.

For a moment she wonders if this is the time when he tells her, it was a nice fuck, goodbye. This is bound to come to an end, right? Her hand clenches around her fork and her stomach drops. She hopes he doesn't notice her disappointment. She looks down at her plate, pokes the food with her fork, and prepares herself for the inevitable.

"The drive from here will take roughly three hours."

Bonnie keeps staring at her plate, heart hammering against her chest.

"Unless of course, you prefer to take the train."

Bonnie looks up them, surprise written all over her face. "What?" surely, she heard wrong.

"Would you like to take the train, or would you prefer for me to drive us there?"

"You want me to go with you?" Bonnie feels incredulous. "To Florence? Seriously?"

Klaus gives her an odd look. "Why are you so surprised?"

"I don't know…I just…I thought…" She stammers nervously. "I thought this was a one-time thing."

"It's been more than just a one-time thing for two days now, love."

Bonnie flushes with embarrassment while he smiles with amusement.

"I suppose, I should be more gentlemanly about it." His eyes are shinning as he speaks. "Do you want to come to Florence with me or would you rather go our separate ways?"

Bonnie's heart stutters.

Klaus is watching her reaction like a hawk.

Bonnie can't stand the intense look he is giving her so she looks away, thoughtfully. This thing between them is not supposed to last, she slept with him to get it out of her system, it's not supposed to be anything more than that. They are definitely not supposed to take a trip together to Florence.

Says who?

There are no rules for this sort of thing anymore.

The morning after their hook up, when she made the decision to stay and continue to fuck him, all rules where thrown out of the window.

They are two consenting adults who have an intense physical chemistry.

They are not harming anyone by having sex, so why should they stop doing something they clearly enjoy? Going to Florence together and continue to fuck each other's brains out seems like a great idea to her. And that's the beauty of being free isn't it? They can do whatever the hell they want.

When Bonnie finally turns to face him, there is a bright smile on her face. "I have to stop by my hotel and get my things first."

Klaus visibly relaxes and Bonnie wonders if he had expected her to turn down his invitation.

"Very well."

His lopsided grin has butterflies taking flight in her stomach.

Even as she tells herself not to get emotionally attached, she knows she's already down a slippery road.

The red convertible blazes through the Italian countryside at top speed.

Bonnie laughs like she has never laughed before and lifts her arms up in the air.

The wind blows her dark hair all over her face but she doesn't mind, she's having fun.

She squeals when Klaus maneuvers them through a curve before dissolving into a fit of giggles as he continues to fly down the road.

Traveling alone was a journey in self-discovery, traveling with a lover it's a whole other gamble.

Bonnie never imagined she would have so much fun. She's young, she's free, she's living her life to the fullest and the truth is, that throwing all caution to the wind and choosing to go to Florence with Klaus, feels like the best decision ever.

As the car continues to speed down the road, Bonnie throws her head back and absorbs the sun with eyes closed and a big grin on her face.

She's so caught up in the moment, that she does not see the genuine smile on Klaus's face as he glances in her direction.

She's not the only one who feels happy and free.

Klaus takes her to his villa, situated on the outskirts of the city.

Bonnie feels like a little kid on Christmas morning as she runs barefooted and explores the place.

Klaus trails behind her, an amused grin on his face.

"This place is huge!" Bonnie runs between the richly furnished rooms, staring momentarily at the metal armors aligning the hall. "Are these real?"

"Of course," Klaus responds, chuckling when she pokes the metal. "There are no ghosts hiding in there if that's what you're thinking."

Bonnie makes a face and sticks her tongue out at him before continuing with her exploration.

Klaus might think her behavior is childish but the truth is that she's been traveling on a budget, staying in different hostels whenever possible or renting the cheapest hotel room in questionable locations. His hotel room in Rome had been nice and comfortable and nearly three times the size of the one she booked just a few miles away. So, yes, she feels in awe of the luxurious complex he has owned for over three centuries.

"This place is amazing," she tells him before dashing up the grand spiral staircase.

The master bedroom is huge and the view from the balcony takes her breath away.

"You have a pool!" Bonnie exclaims excitedly. "I don't have a bathing suit," she realizes sadly.

The hybrid chuckles and hooks an arm around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. He lowers his head against her ear. "You won't need it," he whispers seductively.

Oh boy, Bonnie thinks, enjoying the way their bodies mold together.

She twists in his arms until they are facing each other.

Klaus looks at her lips before claiming her mouth in a scorching kiss.

Bonnie's lips immediately open for him. She wraps her arms around his neck, clinging to him while fire races across her skin. No matter how many times they kiss, the intensity of it- still makes her feel dizzy. With one arm, Klaus holds her in place with the other he palms her butt. Bonnie shivers as she feels his hard length rubbing against her. He explores her mouth with his tongue, drinking her pleasured whimpers; all the while guiding her backwards to the canopy bed.

She has to pull away because she needs air.

Her green eyes are glazed with lust and her lips are swollen from his kiss.

Klaus flips her around, hands ripping her flowery dress in half.

Bonnie gasps, moving her head to the side so he can nuzzle her neck.

She shivers when he tenderly kisses her pulse point and chews on her bottom lip when his hands fondle her breasts.

He rips her bra in half.

Bonnie moans as his hands touch her bare skin.

Can a person die from intense pleasure?

Her underwear joins the dress, falling to shreds on the hard wood floor.

Klaus guides her onto her knees and makes quick work of his clothes.

Bonnie's thighs are drenched by the time he positions himself behind her.

A warm breeze sweeps inside the room as he takes her hips and slams himself inside her from behind.

The night is awfully warm.

Bonnie watches as Klaus tosses his pants on a nearby chair and jumps into the pool.

Their plan to explore the city was thrown out of the window as the lust they feel for each other took over.

They spent the afternoon in bed but still plan to visit the city the next day.

For now, a quick swim is in order.

Bonnie stands by the edge of the pool, watching him swim from one side to the other.

He moves really fast under the water.

"Are you coming in?" He asks when he finally stops and playfully plashes water in her direction.

Bonnie jumps back, laughing as a few droplets hit her legs.

"Come on," Klaus encourages her.

Bonnie slowly unbuttons his shirt-conscious of his eyes on her- and lets it drop to the floor.

Klaus's eyes are set ablaze with lust and his mouth goes dry at the sight of her nakedness. His eyes stare at her full, lush breasts before slowing moving down the rest of her body. He licks his lips.

Bonnie flushes at the look he is giving her. It's a look she knows too well now; it makes her skin prickle with anticipation. She should be exhausted after their activities that afternoon but if anything, she is starved for more. And so, is Klaus.

Taking a deep breath, she gracefully dives into the pool, swimming across the water until finally popping up in front of him, a big grin on her face. "The water feels good," she murmurs while keeping a safe distance from him.

"It does."

Her heart quickens at the smile on his lips. She knows exactly what he is thinking and while she is definitely in the mood, she also wants to have some fun. "Want to race?"

Klaus arches an eyebrow, a bemused smile on his face. "You want to have a race, now?"

Bonnie nods, keeping herself chin deep in the water. "Scared you'll lose?" she teases.

"You should prepare yourself to be defeated," Klaus retorts with the arrogance of a king.

Bonnie rolls her eyes. "We'll see about that."

"You challenging me, witch?"

"Always, hybrid."

Klaus chuckles.

"We'll start at the shallow end," Bonnie tells him. "Two laps, whoever touches the wall first wins, and don't you dare use your vampire speed!"

"Very well," Klaus accepts her challenge and follows her to the shallow end of the pool. "Vampire speed or not, you will still lose," he taunts her.

"Just cause you're taller doesn't mean you're the better the swimmer," Bonnie holds on to the tiled edge of the pool.

"We should make a bet," the naughty grin on his face gives her pause.

"What kind of bet?" She reluctantly asks.

"If I win," Klaus murmurs as he moves closer. "I'll get to paint you in the nude."

Bonnie bites her lip, contemplating his proposition. Posing nude for Klaus? She feels a wicked thrill down her spine but there is also a bit of hesitation. It's something she has never done before.

"No need to be shy about it, love." He gets right into her breathing space. "It's nothing I haven't seen or touched before." He has committed every inch of her skin to memory by now.

Bonnie smiles nervously. "And if I win?"

"You tell me."

It's so tempting.

But what could she ask of him?

"If I win…" Bonnie stares into his eyes as she speaks. "You get to tell me a secret."

"A secret," Klaus repeats intrigued.

"Something you hold deep in your heart, something you have never told anyone."

Klaus thinks about it for a moment, before nodding.

They have a deal.

"Ready?" Bonnie questions.

"Always."

She counts down from three and takes off with an energy that impresses him.

Klaus keeps up with her easily, even though he does his best not to use his inhuman speed. He kicks his legs hard and slices his arms through the water with enough force to create small waves.

Bonnie knows that he is going to win so she resorts to a bit of cheating. As they start the second lap, she uses her magic, sending a pulse through the water that causes enough force to push him off balance.

Klaus stops mid-way, taken completely by surprise.

Bonnie giggles, hand stretching to touch the wall. She's so close.

Klaus recovers quickly and grabs her ankle, pulling her down in one swift motion.

Bonnie ends up swallowing water as she struggles to break free.

Klaus twists their bodies around under the water while Bonnie thrashes against him, trying to break free.

When they come back to the surface, Klaus is holding her around the waist. Their naked bodies tightly pressed together.

Bonnie is out of breath and has to hold on to his shoulders for support.

"Bonnie Bennett, you are a cheater."

Bonnie laughs, her slippery body deliciously sliding against him.

Klaus groans, cock stirring. "You deserve to be punished." He grabs her ass and grounds his lower body to hers.

Bonnie shivers, a soft moan escaping her. He feels so good. She grinds her hips to his in response.

"What are you doing to me, witch?" Klaus growls against her lips.

"Driving you crazy," Bonnie whispers back.

His lips curl, one hand reaching up to touch her wet cheek. There is a thoughtful look on his face as he stares down at her. "Do you think we are under some kind of spell?"

The question throws her off guard. Bonnie blinks up at him, trying to determine if he's teasing her or actually asking her. "I don't think so…" she responds suddenly knowing what he means. "It has never been like this for me before, this need, I want you so much I…" She yearns for him in a way she has never had for anyone else. Not Jeremy, not Enzo either. By looking into his eyes, she knows it's the same for him either. "But I don't think it's a spell."

"I suppose we just need to keep getting it out of our system."

"I guess."

Her eyes drift to his lips.

Klaus claims her mouth in a possessive kiss.

Bonnie eagerly responds, her tongue tangling with his for dominance. Her hands move into his hair, fingers tugging at the silky ends.

Klaus pulls her closer as he continues to devour her mouth.

Bonnie whimpers against his lips at the feel of his hard flesh against her belly. He drives her crazy. She can never get enough of him.

It doesn't matter anymore if it's right or wrong, if it's coincidence or not, what matters is that they are both enjoying each other to the fullest.

And while Bonnie loves kissing him, she needs more. With Klaus, Bonnie always wants more. She breaks the kiss suddenly. "Please…" she begs him, pebbled nipples rubbing against his wet chest, hands tugging at his shoulders. "I need you inside me."

Holding her with one arm, he inches into her slowly, almost teasingly.

Bonnie cries out, wrapping her legs around his waist and holding on to him for dear life.

He sinks deeper into her, stretching her, and filling her to the hilt.

She shudders when her back suddenly connects with the tiled wall of the pool.

He pumps into her, filling her again and again, water swirling all around them.

Bonnie continues to cling to his damp body, crying out his name with reckless abandon.

Klaus swallows her cries, plunging his tongue inside her mouth at the same time he thrusts deep inside her.

As the pleasure surges, Bonnie hopes this will never end.

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is the crown jewel of Florence.

Klaus holds her hand as he leads her inside and Bonnie can hardly contain the treacherous beating of her heart.

There is no need for a tour guide when she has Klaus next to her, his smooth voice regaling her with tales of how the breathtaking structure was built. While Bonnie is completely enraptured by her lover's voice and stories, it's the look on his face that has her looking up at him with adoration.

The way Klaus talks about the history of the place, the art, and the culture that boomed in Florence during the Renaissance is a sight to behold. Bonnie doesn't think she's ever seen his eyes shine so brightly or heard his voice sound so happy. The more time she spends with him, the more she enjoys his company and the more she learns about him.

They walk slowly through the cathedral, keeping their distance from the other tourists.

When they finally step outside, they are greeted by a cold wind which is surprising because they are in the middle of a heat wave.

There is a strange hissing in the air and Bonnie's magic tingles in warning.

It's an unexpected feeling.

Klaus stops abruptly.

"Is everything okay?" Bonnie asks when he releases her hand. "Klaus."

The hybrid looks almost pained and his jaw is tightly clenched.

The wind picks up.

A thunderous clap descends over the square.

"What the hell?" Bonnie looks up at the darkening sky.

In a blink of an eye, the afternoon sun has been eclipsed by dark angry clouds.

Klaus growls next to her, hands balled into fists.

Bonnie stares at him and tries to figure out what is wrong.

When she follows his gaze, her eyes land on a couple a few feet away from them, both who seem frozen in place.

The girl is short, with a heart shape face, and dark long brown hair. She's a witch, Bonnie can tell right away but it's her companion that Bonnie recognizes immediately. "Kol," she whispers, shocked to have run into him in Florence of all places.

A bolt of lightning strikes the ground, right in between both couples.

Bonnie screams and grabs her head half expecting another bolt to hit her.

It's her scream that snaps Klaus out of his trance. "Are you alright?" his eyes move up and down her body, making sure she's not been hurt.

"That was really close," she feels embarrassed by her reaction.

All around them, people are screaming and running to seek shelter from the storm.

Klaus turns to look at his brother once more.

The tension emanating from both of them is palpable.

"Kol, we need to leave now!" The witch girl shouts and pulls at his arm. "You can't get closer or it will destroy the city." She looks positively terrified as she tries to stop Kol from moving closer to Klaus.

Klaus and his brother seem to be having a conversation with their eyes.

They both take steps forward, moving unconsciously closer.

Another lightning bolt strikes the ground, this time nearly hitting an elderly couple trying to seek shelter in one of the adjacent buildings.

A child cries for his mother.

The earth shakes in warning.

"Kol, no!" The girl pulls him back.

Kol growls, vampire face surfacing.

Klaus growls too but he snaps out of his trance quickly.

He hooks one arm around Bonnie, pulling her tightly against his chest, before speeding out of there.

The clouds disperse.

The thunder stops and the sun makes its return.

Everyone is puzzled by the sudden change in the weather.

When Klaus puts her down, Bonnie stumbles on her feet.

They're down some narrow street, away from the cathedral.

Bonnie feels like she is going to throw up but she pushes that aside when she sees that Klaus has one hand on the wall; his head is bent down, his body really tense.

"Klaus…" Bonnie takes a tentative step closer. "What's wrong?" she asks in a trembling voice. Every nerve in her body is on high alert; something is wrong.

"Don't come any closer," Klaus hisses before looking at her over his shoulder.

Bonnie gasps when she sees his eyes. They're completely black, devoid of any warmth. The dark angry veins beneath his eyes are prominent and so are his sharp fangs. She takes an involuntarily step back. Her magic goes crazy inside her, warning her of the danger in front of her. The hollow, Bonnie recalls. The darkness inside him is just a fraction of it but it's strong enough to have a hold over him. For the first time, Bonnie realizes just how dangerous that dark power really is.

Klaus growls. He turns around fully, black eyes watching her with a hunger that is unlike anything she has ever seen before. "Don't move."

Bonnie's heart jumps to her throat, cold sweat already forming on her forehead and back. She feels like a rabbit, tiny and defenseless.

When he steps forward, Bonnie shudders.

Klaus suddenly snaps his head to the side. "NOT HER!" he growls furiously.

When he turns to look at Bonnie again, she sees the way his eyes shift from gold to blue, to black once more. He's fighting, she realizes suddenly. Whatever that thing inside him is saying, Klaus is fighting it off.

His body pushes forward.

Klaus forcibly slams his back against the wall, trying to stop that invisible power from manipulating his body. He's trembling and growling and Bonnie feels tears of frustration forming in her eyes. He seems like he is possessed and she doesn't know how to help him. She wants to asks but she can't find the voice to do so.

There is a scary moment when he hits his head against the wall that she considers running but her legs refuse to move. Deep down, she knows that if she runs, he will see her as prey. He will hunt her and drain her.

"Klaus…" Despite the fear she feels, her voice is gentle. "What can I do?" she asks him. "Tell me how can I help you…please…"

"NO!" Klaus screams suddenly. "I WON'T!"

Bonnie watches in horror as he takes his arm up to his mouth and bites himself. "Klaus!"

He rips the shirt and flesh apart with his sharp teeth, massive amounts of blood dropping to the ground as he nearly tears his arm in half. He gulps down the blood and pulls his arm away, blood dripping down his chin. He gives Bonnie one anguished look before disappearing at vampire speed.

A shaken Bonnie stares at the pool of blood, a single tear rolling down her cheek.

Bonnie eventually finds her way back to the villa and waits for him to return.

It rains the whole night.

The weather reflects her mood.

She paces around the master bedroom.

She's filled with worry and uncertainty.

In less than twenty-four hours everything has gone to hell.

Bonnie resorts to using one of his shirts for a locator spell but it doesn't work.

She finds a single blond hair on the pillow and uses it for another spell.

It doesn't work either.

Bonnie has half the mind to go back to the Cathedral and search for him but she tells herself that he will return when he is ready, when he no longer is affected by whatever that thing inside him is.

Sometime during the night, she sits on the floor, knees up to her chest.

Where are you Klaus?

Will you return at all?

Is this it?

The thought of not seeing him again has a spike of fear curling inside her.

What if he has left Florence?

What if he's no longer in Italy?

What is she supposed to do?

She worries herself sick, tears of frustration and fear falling freely down her face.

In a short amount of time, Klaus Mikaelson wormed himself into her life, and dare she say it…her heart. She has no clue what to do or how to handle the endless waves of emotions swirling inside her. She needs him to come back.

Sometime later, exhausted by her tears and worry, Bonnie falls asleep.

When Bonnie wakes up, it's still raining.

The room is engulfed in grey as the sun refuses to come out.

The first thing she notices upon regaining consciousness is that she's on the bed, a blanket carefully thrown over her body. She sits up immediately, rubbing her sleepy eyes, and searching desperately for her lover.

Klaus stands by the foot of the bed, contemplating her.

"You're back." The relief Bonnie feels is incredible. She looks him up and down, noticing the change of clothes and the damp hair. "When did you…"

"About an hour or so ago."

Bonnie studies his face. He seems in control, long gone are the black eyes devoid of any emotion, and he's not growling angrily either. That's good. "What happened?"

"A side effect of running into Kol," Klaus replies coldly. "Whenever we run into each other, a natural disaster seems to follow."

"I get that, what I meant was, what happened afterwards, when we were in that alley…" Bonnie searches his face, trying to read his emotions. There is a detached look on his face, so different from the anguish and pain she saw before.

"Don't trouble yourself over that."

"But-"

"A car will be here in an hour or so to pick you up."

"What?" Bonnie gets out of the bed. "Pick me up, what are you-"

"To take you wherever you want to go next."

Bonnie feels her heart sink. "Klaus-"

"This was fun while it lasted love," his lips twist into a cruel smirk. "What you lack in experience you certainly made up for in eagerness."

Bonnie feels tears burning in her eyes, his words are a direct punch to her heart.

"It was fun but it's over now."

It's over.

Her heart shatters.

Klaus doesn't even give her time to process anything. "Goodbye Bonnie." He calmly walks out of the room.

Bonnie stares at the floor.

Had the past few days meant nothing?

Is this it?

He's going to kick her out, just like that?

But of course, what else is she expecting. It was just sex, nothing more. It was fun and now it's over.

She feels angry and hurt, no she feels betrayed. She's more than ready to run the hell away from there and drown herself in sorrow when she recalls the way Klaus slammed his body against the wall, she vividly remembers the vicious way he bit his own flesh and above all, she remembers that anguished last look.

No, Bonnie refuses to believe this is it.

It takes her a few seconds, but her feet move like lightning as she follows him out. "Don't you dare!"

Klaus is at the bottom of the spiral staircase when her voice stops him. He sighs and glances back at her. "There is nothing more to say-"

"You think you're so smart!" Bonnie shouts, bare feet running down each step. "I know what you're doing," she tells him stopping on third to last step. This way they can be at an eye level. "You think that by hurting my feelings and sending me away everything will be okay but you're wrong."

"Don't flatter yourself," he mutters angrily. "I don't give a damn about you."

"It's that why you chose to nearly rip your arm off instead of attacking me?" she challenges him.

Klaus glares at her.

"I saw the pain in your face, I saw the anguish…" her voice nearly breaks as she recalls that look. "You could have easily sunk your fangs in my neck and that thing inside you-" she glances down at his chest. It's in there, she knows, hiding behind his flesh. "It was telling you to attack me wasn't it?"

His jaw clenches and he refuse to meet her eyes.

"Not her, you said," Bonnie continues. "I'm not stupid Klaus. I know you're trying to protect me." The last part she says in a near whisper. Everything has just become a complicated mess and she feels like she's on the edge of something…something terrifying but good. "You want to hurt me and push me away because that's what you always do," somehow, she knows that has always been his strategy. "But guess what? I'm not walking away from this." She's not going to let that thing inside him win.

"Bonnie-"

"I can help you." She makes the decision impulsively. "I'm a witch, I can figure out how to destroy that thing inside you." Now that she thinks about it, she feels surprised he hasn't asked her to look into it. The Klaus back in Mystic Fall would not have hesitated to threaten her life and force her to find a way to fix him.

Klaus laughs, the hollow sound echoing around them. "There is nothing you can do."

"But-"

"If my one-thousand-year-old, powerful witch sister who trained under another wickedly powerful witch and the new Regent of the witches in New Orleans couldn't do anything to destroy the hollow. I doubt you can."

"You don't know what I'm capable of." She straightens her spine, eyes burning proudly. "You have no idea what I can do now." She's no longer the young girl who bravely took the power of a hundred witches to kill him. She has grown up a lot, not just as a person but as a witch too.

"You don't want to get involved this."

"Why?"

Klaus doesn't reply.

"Because that evil thing inside you is telling you to push me away?" she arches an eyebrow. "It doesn't like me, does it?" She crosses her arms over her chest and glares at his chest. Can you hear me? I'm not going to let you win.

Klaus growls, feeling annoyed by her questions. "Why do you have to be so frustrating?"

"Why do you have to be so stubborn?" She barks back.

The two of them glare at each other for a solid minute before a reluctant smirk begins to form on his lips.

Klaus shakes his head. She's exasperatedly beautiful. His hand clenches at his side; he wants to kiss her and touch her, and lose himself inside her.

Bonnie can see the desire written on his face but there is something else too, something dark and murderous.

kill her.

The thought washes over her like a bucket of ice water.

Klaus closes his eyes, body shaking.

Bonnie has a horrible realization then."It became stronger after you saw Kol, didn't it?"

Klaus opens his eyes.

"Before, it was there but now its power has grown."

Klaus nods. "It's the reason we must always be apart."

"Let me help you?"

"Why?" His eyes bore into hers. "Why do you care?"

Bonnie looks down at her feet trying to find the right words. "Honestly, I don't even know." She meets his gaze once more. "I should walk away and don't look back. The last thing I need is to get involved in this mess. I had enough supernatural problems to last me a lifetime when I was in Mystic Falls but…I want to help you." Something suddenly occurs to her. "Maybe this is the reason I keep running into you."

Klaus gives her a strange look.

"Maybe the reason we keep running into each other is because I'm the witch you need to destroy that thing." Her brows furrow. "I'm surprised you haven't asked me to help you yet."

"It didn't even cross my mind," he admits in a low murmur. "The only thing I wanted was to bury myself deep inside you. To take you and claim you."

Bonnie shivers, his words setting her body aflame.

"I've done that so many times now and I still want more." He takes a step closer. "I want you. I want all of you and-" he takes a step back. "It doesn't like it."

"I want you too," Bonnie confesses. "More than anything in the world, it's scary."

Something shifts between them.

"I don't know where this thing between us will lead," Bonnie tells him. "I'm sure we will figure it out eventually." She takes a deep breath because she has made up her mind and nothing is going to change it now. "Let me help you." She tentatively reaches for his face, fingers cupping his cheek tenderly. "Let me save you." She's good at saving people, she has always been. More often than not, she has been pushed to save others but she succeeded all the same. This time won't be the exception. Bonnie leans closer until their faces are almost touching. "I can save you," she whispers against his lips. "I want to save you."

Klaus lets out a shuddering breath.

When was the last time anyone wanted to save him?

Elijah with his obsession for his redemption perhaps?

He's completely motionless as she moves closer to him. The thing inside him urges him to pull away, to destroy, to kill.

"Ignore it," Bonnie's voice is like a siren's song.

When she touches her lips to his, Klaus knows he will do anything she asks of him. He is completely powerless when it comes to her.

The dark magic inside him burns angrily.

It hurts.

The pain is fleeting for Bonnie's touch is a healing balm.

She's the light that has come to snuff the darkness residing inside his body.

I'm working on a third and final installment of this. Let me know what you think!
