The Spark

Hiddenville High

"...Max! Can you tell me who assassinated Abraham Lincoln?" The history teacher asked loudly to wake up Max from his in-class nap. "Yeah, John Wilkes Booth, shot him on April 14, 1865 in Ford's Theatre." The teacher was amazed by Max's comprehensive answer. "Good job, Max. I'm sorry I ever doubted you. Max now has a proud look on his face. He figured that with him being a superhero, he doesn't have to hide his good grades anymore. He realized he can even try to beat Phoebe in school and people won't have to underestimate him.

Right when he puts his head down to read the textbook, the door opens and a girl walks in. The same girl who was with Principal Bradford.

"Excuse me? Is this the right room, I was told by Principal Bradford to go to history class." The girl asks the teacher. Max puts his head up realizing that the voice sounded familiar, he looks up even more as his mouth drops with disbelief. "Ahhh yes, I was informed that a new student was coming in today." The teacher claps her hands loudly to calm the class down. "Class! We have a new student joining us from - I forgot the city name, Metro-something." "It's nothing, don't worry about it." The girl brushes off the need to say where she's from. "Ok! Class, this is Samantha Santiago." Max looks at the girl with a huge smile on his face knowing that it was his best friend from Metroburg.

After 10 minutes of Samantha introducing herself and a few more facts from the Civil War. The bell rings to leave History class. Max tells Oyster he'll see him later for lunch and that he has to go somewhere for a second. Samantha runs up to Max and gives him the biggest hug from behind. "What up Maxy T?" She asks Max with delight. Max turns around and hugs her too, he hugged her so hard he didn't want to let go. "Sam, it's so great to see you! You're now in Hiddenville too? This is amazing! Dude, I missed you."

When the Thundermans moved to Hiddenville, he was sad that he had to leave his villain friends, especially Sam. But he still kept in contact with her through Facetime, Allison knew about her when they were going out so their friendship wasn't an issue.

"I can't believe you're here, how are you here?" Max asked, still beaming over the fact that his best friend is here.

"Well, my parents wanted a fresh start. The Hero League promoted Selena and moved her to London. Plus they heard the news that you are apparently now a superhero and training to be in the Z-Force, which we need to talk about, and figured maybe it'll help me get out of my "villain phase. So we moved to Hiddenville."

"Uhhh, yes we do need to talk about my retirement from villainy...over fries at Splatburger? My treat for Hiddenville's newest resident." Max asks nervously. When he became a superhero, the one person he was afraid of telling was Sam, especially since they had each other's backs throughout that part of his life and he didn't want to lose her. They made the ultimate goal of being villains together, taking down their superhero sisters and ruling someday. But maybe this can be the start of a villain-superhero friendship. "Of course, but don't we have class now?" "Nah, we can skip, I'll just lie saying that Bradford asked me to show you around school. I can forge his signature on a school note" Max thinks of an idea on how to take Sam to lunch. "Now, that's the mischievous Max I know!" Sam says with pride.

As Max and Sam get ready to leave school, Phoebe runs to Max frantically. "MAX, DID YOU GET MY TEXT? DID YOU MOM AND DAD'S TEXT?!" Phoebe asks Max while shaking his shoulders in the process. "No. My phone was silent, what's going with you?" Max asks in a calm tone. Phoebe pulls Max aside and takes out her phone to show him the text. "Dark Mayhem escaped from prison. Mom and Dad said the Hero League doesn't know who helped him, but they're going to send us the security footage soon. We just have to be on guard." Max looks from the phone, then at Phoebe and nods in agreement. He knows that with Dark Mayhem free, the villain will probably go after Phoebe and Max first since they were the reason he lost his powers to begin with. He's also one of the only people who know about Phoebe absorbing his powers and almost carrying out his plan for world domination.

"I'll be on the lookout, I promise. And hey! Look who's now at Hiddenville High!" Max turns Sam around to show her face to Phoebe, Phoebe quickly shows contempt for the girl in front of her and vice versa. "Hi Phoebe." Sam greets her annoyingly. "Hi Sam. What are you doing here?" Phoebe rolls her eyes as she questions Sam. "I don't need to repeat the story, Max can tell you. Come on Max, let's go eat!" Sam grabs Max and they leave the school. Phoebe is confused because it's only 10 in the morning. "Max, wait what about class?" "Don't worry! I haven't skipped since prom. One skip is not going to kill me, see you Pheebs!" Max reassures her.

Phoebe looks back with great worry. She was never fond of Sam, mainly because she knew what a bad influence she was on Max and even helped him with his villain endeavors. Still, she was somewhat nice to her for Max's sake, that was his first real friend after all...
