Chapter 11

Calm before the Fog

I own nothing but my not so brilliant mind. I am using book ages. Only Stannis's part of the chapter will be in first person not third because it is mostly in his mind. Blame my muse for that. Everything else I have ever written has been in third person so this is new to me. Also Dragons are far smarter in my story then what Mr Martin wrote. Nothing with a brain that large can be called a mindless beast. Before I get hate for this chapter I feel really bad for what I have done to Stannis but he was also a bit of a dick in the books and show so I feel bad for the Stannis I started with, not the Stannis that could kill his younger brother with blood magic or his daughter, that really pissed me off. So part of the reason a lot of my chapters take a long time is that I usually spend more time researching things that appear in the chapters like where on the map places are or who's in houses that aren't main ones but in this story for one reason or another, or the stupidly long titles. Most recent thing for this chapter I have had to research is who is the High Septon during Robert's reign. You know the one that died in the riot after Marcella left King's Landing, and by the time I finish this there will have been more things I need to look up.

Dragon eggs telepathically talking.

Ser Bonifer

In the five months that the Holy have been fighting back against the savages that the red witches brought into the city a lot had happened. The first thing that happened was after the burning of the septa, Bonifer met with the High Septon Maynard. The High Septon had been appalled by what happened to the poor septa. The Holy Hundred was given the task of trying to drive the red religion out of King's Landing.

High Septon Maynard, even paid them for every death. The small folk from Fleas Bottom were the most helpful, despite how abhorrent Bonifer and the Holy found the bowls of brown it kept their actions from being overly noticed by the city watch. The most faithful of the Gold Cloaks also helped in ridding the city of the filth.

Being the best able to track the movements of the fiery hand, the gold cloaks gave the Holy, their locations and their patrol routes. Especially once they noticed that their own numbers were declining and not to the usual street brawls but to the fiery hand and their red witches burning as they call it the heretic's. Burn the heretic's one of their catchphrases.

By this time most of the Holy Hundred was hiding in different houses throughout the city. The faithful people of the city giving them shelter so that they can continue to fight the red faith without being hunted down in every inn in the city. All of them welcomed the men of the Holy Hundred with open arms, even going so far as to hide them from raids made by the fiery hand.

Only Bonifer stayed in the Great Sept as he knew the city better than any one from his days hiding with his love, even the tunnels that run under every building in the city. Tunnels they use to great effect to fight the plague of red god followers.

It started with small traps and quick stabbings with only one of two men of the Holy Hundred targeting lone fiery hand members. It quickly escalated when the fiery hand started going around in units. At first it was two or three men units, then it went to five man units patrolling the streets of King's Landing.

Once it reached the point that more than ten members of the Holy were required to kill the fiery hand without any losses, the traps needed to become more sophisticated. By that point all the people in King's Landing were fully behind them. The only reason there wasn't a full scale riot in the capital was that the Holy Hundred was in the city trying to take care of it.

The small folk had even started to lead the patrolling fiery hand into the traps the Holy laid for them, the small folk would give them excuses like there are speton's preaching in houses. The fiery hand fell for it everytime. Their whole unit would go with the person never going back to report what they heard just following. Slaughtering them was easy once they were in confined spaces. Sometimes they would be led into houses, sometimes into the tunnels.

At one point the Holy hundred even got their numbers down to thirty in the city. Then the worst thing happened, Jon Arryn gave up. The Lord Paramount of the second most faithful region in Westeros gave up and ran like a coward. The Lord of the Vale ran and took his family with him, closing off the Vale to any outsiders. None left in the vale besides the savage mountain men believed in the old gods unlike any of the other regions, only the reach was better as everyone in the reach is a follower in the Seven who are One.

At this point Bonifer tried to talk to King Stannis. Having fought with the man in the past during the Greyjoy Rebellion, Bonifer thought that King Stannis would take his concerns seriously but when the audience finally arrived he didn't have much to say.

"My King, on behalf of the faithful to the seven in the city I beseech you. You grace send the red witches away."

"There is nothing wrong with the faith of R'hllor." Bonifer frowns at his word, that doesn't sound like the King Stannis he knows. The blank look on his face is definitely not normal either. While King Stannis has always been a hard man whose face could be said to have been made out of stone there was always life to it. There was no life in his eyes anymore

"Your grace they are burning speta's and septon's if they leave the Great Sept. They are burning anyone that speaks out against them. Your Grace, you need to help your people." Bonifer tries pleading with the King. Bonifer sees something change in King Stannis's face.

"Run Bon, more are coming. Can't stop, nee." King Stannis is cut off as a Red Witch comes into the room. The blank look is back on his face. "There is nothing wrong with their actions Ser Bonifer, they have my full permission to clean out the city of the heretics." Bonifer is now sure there is something wrong with the King, magic, dark magic.

"Yes, your Grace. I will leave you now." Bonifer says retreating out of the throne room.

Running was now their only choice. Time to go to the Reach, time to get the most faithful on their side. First he has to tell the High Septon, and the gold cloaks so that the people of the city know they have not to give up the fight, but are going to get reinforcements.

Davos Seaworth

Princess Shireen took time out of her day, every day, to make sure he kept up with his lessons in reading and writing as well as the politics of the kingdom. She didn't want him to be at a disadvantage because he wasn't born into nobility. The Princess is always kind to Davos, he sees the Princess as the daughter that he and his wife never had. The hours that he spent on Dragonstone in her company were some of the most peaceful times he had, that is whenever her father didn't have a task for him to complete as his second in command of the royal fleet.

With his elevation to the position of next Hand of the King, Davos managed to convince King Stannis to name Monford Velaryon to the position of master of ships, a title that the Lords of Driftmark had held all through the Targaryen's reign. It is Davos's hope this will bring the Narrow Sea Lords back into the fold. Jon Arryn agreed with his plan.

Watching the legitimisation of Edric Storm, knowing that the Stormlands would be in great hands. Baratheon hands even if the name was now Durrendon. The Stormlands Lord's happiness at the action was one of the best things that happened since they came to King's Landing. The happiness was two fold, one for having their old royal line back as lords, two for having a Lord that they have seen growing into a fine lad.

Hearing the news that the Lannister bounty had finally caught up to Euron Greyjoy lifted the sprites of the entire kingdom. The mad man had been captured by the Hightower fleet. Lord Tyrion, the new lord of the Westerlands made good on the promise of twenty thousand dragons. Everything that came after was filled with sadness or anger.

Watching Stannis spiral out of control after they came to King's Landing was not something that Davos is comfortable with, it was not something that he expected. Watching King Stannis dismiss the council of Lord Arryn was another unexpected event. When the man finally gave up on King Stannis, Davos hadn't been surprised. Lord Arryn has a pregnant wife to think about. A very faithful to the Seven wife, that is carrying the hope of the Arryn line. Getting out of the city was the best option for them.

Hearing from the head of the alchemist guild that there were over five thousand barrels of wildfire hidden all over King's Landing made Davos swear a blue streak. Being told by them that King Robert, King Stannis, and Lord Arryn knew and have done nothing about it made Davos curse the stupidity of nobles. The alchemist said that they told the three men as soon as they could get meetings after they had taken their positions. Ordering the alchemist to render the wild fire inert was the easiest choice he had ever made. The head of the guild told Davos it would take a year before the barrels would be ready to be moved. Davos ordered them not to tell the red witches for fear it would be used against the small folk of kings landing. They didn't need another mad king.

Watching Maester Cressen trying to poison both red witches only for them to survive and Cressen to die was hard for him to deal with. Davos had been there when the poison took hold of the old maester. A very ugly death, blood leaking out of his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, Davos doesn't want to think about the other places that blood was leaking out of. Davos is only glad that Princess Shireen wasn't in that council meeting. Comforting Princess Shireen after her favourite teacher died was easy, not something that he should have been doing but something he took pride in. something that both her parents should have done but neither seemed to bother with the Princess anymore.

When Queen Selyse was sent back to Dragonstone where her uncle Ser Axell Florent ruled in the name of the Princess of Dragonstone, Shireen, Davos was shocked. There was no reason that she was sent back there except the red witch wanted it. For some reason that Davos couldn't figure out King Stannis was following everything that the red witch was saying, that both red witches were saying. That Selyse went without a fight shocked Davos more.

The next thing that surprised Davos was the arrival of the dragon egg. The red witches said that King Stannis would be able to wake the dragons from their eggs as he is the prince that was promised, or so they say. All Davos knows about those eggs is that they go everywhere with King Stannis now. At least two of the fiery hand carry them around if Stannis ever leaves the throne room or his own chambers. If not they are right next to the King.

His only comfort was that the sweet Princess had not changed since they came to this accursed city. The sweet and kind Princess would go out into the city with loyal guards from Dragonstone to feed the poor and hungry of the city. Princess Shireen had even been named by the people as the Sweet Princess.

The only thing in Davos's mind that King Stannis has done right since Princess Shireen arrived is to make sure that she is only accompanied by the Dragonstone knights, the Driftmark heir Monterys Valaryon and Davos. House Velaryon is trying to get their heir as the next King Consort. Davos has also noticed that every time the Princess is out in the city at least three of the Holy Hundred follows her discreetly.

Davos met with the Holy Hundreds leader Ser Bonifer once he noticed they kept the fiery hand away from the Princess. Their meeting became more urgent after the red witches burnt the gods wood the night before. Davos knows what the North will think about this action. Only one action will make that action right in the minds of the Lords of the North, War. They meet in the tunnels that both men know, Ser Bonifer from his days with the former Queen Rhaella, Davos from his days as a smuggler living in Fleas Bottom.

"Why are your men following the princess?" Davos says getting straight to the point.

"To protect her of course. Do you think we don't know what those red devils want with her?" Ser Bonifer says back angrily.

"What do they want with her? This is the first time I have heard anything about them wanting her." Davos says worried. Rubbing at the stubble on his face. Worried that the red witches wanted something bad with his surrogate daughter.

"Before it was to make sure the Princess did not get caught up in the crowd and end up at a burning. Now after their failure waking the dragons by burning the gods wood there can only be one thing they want, the thing they were first asking for. Kings Blood Davos, they want her blood to wake the eggs King Stannis got from those red devils. Only death can pay for life. You know the words as well as I do Ser Davos. Fire and Blood." all the blood leaves Davos face at those words. He knows those words, he has heard those words often since the red witches gave KingStannis the dragon eggs.

"How do you know this? I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I must know the truth. I must keep the Princess safe." Davos can see the respect for himself grow in the knight across from him.

"Good, I thought that I would have to kidnap her from the keep. I know because I know the tunnels into the Red Keep just like you do. I have men in the walls spying to make sure we know the red devils plans. I went to see the puppet king yesterday. He broke their control to tell me to run Davos, then that red devil came into the throne room and he changed his tune." Ser Bonifer says with a blank face, waiting to see what Davos would say about it.

His words confirm the nagging thoughts that have been running through his mind. His King is no longer the man he knew from the time he smuggled food into Storm's End.

"Magic. Mind control." Ser Bonifer nods at his word "fuck."

"Language, but yes, that's my thoughts as well. Only dark magic controls the mind. I'm taking the princess tonight whether you come or not is your choice, I recommend you come." Davos nods agreeing to go with him.

"I will try to break Stannis out of it this afternoon, if I fail and live, I will be in the Princess's room after sundown. Where are we going?"

"The Reach." That's the only words Ser Bonifer says before he takes his leave from Davos.

It takes Davos less than an hour using the tunnels to get back to the Red Keep. waiting in the shadows for the red witch to leave Stannis alone, it doesn't take long, thankfully there is no fiery hand in the throne room at this moment.

"Your Grace we must talk. It's important."

"Nothing is important except waking the dragon's, Onion Knight." Those words send alarm bells ringing in Davos's mind, Stannis has never called him Onion Knight before.

"Your Grace you must see this isn't right." pleading, hoping this will get through to his King.

"It's all R'hllors will, Onion knight." The blank look on Stannis's face scares Davos.

"Your Grace, they burnt the gods wood last night. It's not safe here for Shireen. She must go back to Dragonstone, no further Storms End she must go there." Davos lies to his King to leave a false trail, there was no way he was staying here with his Princess now, the red devils have their claws in too deep. Davos sees a moment of clarity cross Stannis's face.

"Take her to Bonifer. Get them out. Holy protect her. Take the eggs." Davos sees the effort Stannis is putting into saying those words before his face goes blank again. "The lord of light will have his sacrifice, no one will stand in his way."

"Of course your grace." Davos says before leaning in and whispering in Stannis's ear. "I'll free you if I can" a brief flicker of hopelessness crosses Stannis's face before going blank again.

Davos waits for nightfall watching Stannis in case he goes anywhere, not that he left the throne room. The man just sat on the throne alone in the room with a blank face not moving, not speaking. This scares Davos more than anything else he has seen. Walking up to the throne Davos leans down and whispers into her ear again.

"I will protect Shireen, I will try to free you." picking up the dragon egg, Davos retreats back into the tunnel and makes his way to Princess Shireen's room. Along the way he meets up with Ser Bonifer. Ser Bonifer raises one finger to his lips signalling to stay silent. Davos nods and follows him. He enters Princess Shireen's room first so Ser Bonifer doesn't frighten the girl.

"Ser Davos." Princess Shireen says as she jumps up to hug him. Accepting the hug as Ser Bonifer enters the room. "Ser Bonifer?" she says questioningly.

"Princess, we must get you out of here, they will burn you to wake the dragon eggs." Ser Bonifer says. The Princess squeaks at this before Davos covers her mouth.

"You could have broken that to her more gently. There's no need to worry about the eggs, I have them. They will be searching everywhere but here for them. They watch Princess Shireen very closely." Davos says comforting the Princess. While showing them his satchel. "Princess those red devils are mind controlling your father, he broke it for a moment this afternoon and told me to get you to Bonifer and take the eggs with me. Grab anything important to you then we are leaving."

Davos watches as the princess grabs a satchel of her own, her coin purse and some of her most simple riding dresses, underthings, and a spare pair of riding boots. Being the vivacious bibliophile she is, she grabs two books. While he watches her flit around the room he turns to Ser Bonifer.

"Where are the Holy Hundred? Stannis told me to get them out."

"Waiting for us in the northern part of the King's wood. All of today they have been leaving the city in small groups." Davos nods at his words, smart to leave a false trail. Like he had by telling Stannis they were going to Storm's End. More believable to go to the region where the Holy Hundred has their main base.

Stannis

Fog.

Jon's here asking who's going to be lord of Storm's End. Why is he asking? I already told him Edric, my nephew. The Durrendon name would live in the Storm Lands once more and the Baratheon name would be the Royal name.

Red clouds telling me not to name Edric, to name one of the priests of R'hllor. No, must be a son of the Durrendon's. The prophecy said only a son of Durrendon can find StormBreaker.

White clouds, so pretty. So clean.

Legitimising Edric Storm to Edric Durrendon, placing Courtney Pentrose as regent. Telling Courtney where to find the prophecy. Melisandre's anger at the action.

Clouds again. Grey clouds. Where did the white clouds go? Why do these clouds look like a lion eating a squid?

Wait is that Jon, what's Jon saying.

"Stannis you can't just let them kill people faithful to the seven, have you forgotten that in your title you are the protector of the faith." no I wouldn't let them kill my people what's going on?

The fog is back. Is it fog? Is it clouds? Why is it only sometimes in the shape of house sigil's? Why does it change colour?

Beautiful fiery hair. Why is this hair in my bed? Where is my wife?

Clouds, pretty white clouds.

Scarred face. Stone face. Daughter, no my daughter is not stone faced. What is happening to me?

Fog is back again, why is it back?

No, that's my daughter, bring my daughter back.

Sinking back out of clarity.

No this is wrong. Why can't I break out of this?

Fading from reality.

"sign this. We need more of the fiery hand in the city, someone keeps killing them." Malisandre says. I can't help myself but sign. Why am I signing? I would never allow foreign soldiers on Westeros soil.

Everything is fading back into the fog.

Jon, Jon is back. Jon, help me!

"I'm Leaving Stannis, if you can't control those red witches then my family is not safe here."

No Jon come back. Save me Jon.

No, the fog is coming back.

Eggs, pretty eggs of white, green, blue, and red. No red is not pretty any more, too much red in my bed.

Fight it. Wake us, we will fight them. FIGHT BACK.

Fog is back. No fight the fog.

"Sign this, we are burning the gods wood." no, no, no, not the gods wood the North will rebel, why am I signing this?

Fight the fog, don't let it fall again.

Fight the clouds. I need to stop them, can't let them start another war.

No, not the fog.

Wait, I know him. I fought with him. Bonnifer. Wait what's he saying? The faithful what's happening to the faithful. Burnings no I didn't say they could do that. I have to warn him about the fiery hand coming.

"Run Bon more are coming, can't stop, nee." flash of red entering the room, fog descending.

Fight the fog, I need help. Where are my friends when I need them?

Wait I know this one, fingers short. Why are his fingers so short? The onion knight, Davos. Davos help me. Help me fight the fog.

"Your Grace, they burnt the gods wood last night. It's not safe here for Shireen. She must go back to Dragonstone, no further Storm's End she must go there."

Fog slowly descending.

Fight it and send her and us away.

"Take her to Bonifer. Get them out. Holy protect her." I manage to grit out through the descending fog "take the eggs."

Fog or clouds or whatever has been plaguing my mind.

"I'll free you if I can." That voice, that's Davos. Finally someone sees. Protect my daughter. Save me.

Clouds, red fiery bad clouds, fight the clouds.

Red hair whispering "Ao issi īlvon ao jāhor daor henujagon īlva." (you are ours you will not leave us)

Darkness.

Jon snow

At first things had been strained after Lady Stark's brother visited. Jon's father had been shut away in his solar more often than not. Lady Stark could be seen trying to talk to his father only to not be let into his solar or if she did get in only for arguments to be heard.

This was unusual as the Lord and Lady of the castle didn't argue, unless it was about Jon. Jon tried to make himself invisible to everyone in the keep. He didn't want to be blamed for the arguments the two were having.

Even his brother thought it was his fault, Rob purposely set out to try to injure Jon in their spars. Since he couldn't do it physically he would do it through his words. Starting to parrot some of the words his mother would say, calling him a stupid bastard worth nothing. Even after being caught several times and punished by their father. The thing that shocked Jon the most is that Lady Stark also punished Rob if she found out about his actions. Both the lord and lady tried to tell everyone that they were not arguing about Jon, but no one believed them.

At fifteen name days old Jon was over all the abuse he was being handed. He made plan after plan of running away to the Night's Watch. Each one he discarded as unfeasible. Mostly because he doesn't want to have to steal from his family and prove Lady Stark correct that all bastards are thieves and sinners.

It took two months from the time that Lord Edmure left for things to calm down, with Lord and Lady Stark no longer arguing, Rob tried to get back on friendly terms with Jon , but Jon wasn't having it. No apology could make up for the torment that Rob and Theon had put him through. The only sibling that had stayed by his side was Arya, even little Bran distanced himself from Jon. Rickon had been cloistered away from Jon by Septa Mordane so Jon didn't hold it against him.

The one thing that did make those two months better was when Lord Stark took Jon, Rob and Theon out on a hunt. During the hunt they found a struggling direwolf, a pregnant direwolf that was about to whelp. Lord Stark in a moment of loyalty to his house's sigil fed the pregnant wolf with their kill then took the direwolf back to Winterfell. Despite Lady Stark's protests the direwolf stayed in the keep with them. She followed his father around everywhere he went. Lord Stark ended up naming the direwolf Permafrost.

When Permafrost whelped her litter there were seven pups. Five of which bonded with his siblings, and one that bonded with Jon. the little albino, the one that in Jons mind represented the old gods and the fact that the old gods approve of him. Jon named his direwolf pup Ghost, the only other pups that he paid attention to is the one that bonded with his sister Arya. Arya being the fighting obsessed girl she is of course named her pup after a worrier Queen Nymeria. The other one was the pup meant for his uncle. Rob and Sansa had taken over the training of Rickon's direwolf.

A week after the pups had been born Lord and Lady Stark were back to arguing, if they were not arguing Lady Stark was crying. This time everyone knew what it was about. Lady Stark's sister was dead and she wanted to go to the funeral, but for some reason Lord Stark wouldn't let her. They also found out about what they had been arguing about in the first place. Lord Stark had wanted to go to King's Landing to help in any way he could while the fever was raging in the capital.

This took months to settle down. The direwolf pups grew to be bigger than the hunting hounds in this time, they were also having hunting lessons from their mother during the night. The only reason Jon knew this was the strange dreams he was having. It took a conversation with Old Nan to find out that not only was he having wolf dreams a precursor to warging but so was his father and siblings except Rickon. Old Nan said that Rickon was too young yet to have wolf dreams at only three name days but give him a few years and he would start to have them too.

It has been two days since a letter from the capital came in saying that Jon Arryn resigned as Hand of the King as well as stating that the faith of R'hllor was trying to start a war in Westeros. This had Jon's father sending letters out to all of his bannermen. In his words he wasn't calling the banners he was just preparing. Jon didn't know what to think about this, he was only glad that his Uncle Benjen was coming to Winterfell, mostly to pick up promised supplies for the wall, but he was partly coming to pick up the direwolf pup that was meant for him. It was the only pure black wolf in the litter. Even the pup's eyes were a dark brown close to black.

It took a month for all the lords to gather in Winterfell. Jon stayed out of everyone's way. Lady Stark, while being nicer to him, still didn't want Jon anywhere near the lords so they didn't feel insulted by a bastard being in their presence. Jon has taken to spending a lot of his time in the gods wood or the crypts. He even spent time with Old Nan learning the true history of the north.

He is in the crypts with Arya who is currently hiding from the hated septa. They both have their direwolves with them.

"Jon, are you ever going to forgive Rob for being a shit head?" Arya asks, wanting to know if she was allowed to forgive her brother. Jon is her favourite brother. Arya has kicked Rob several times in the shin even once in the balls for the things he has said to Jon.

"I don't know Arya. Both he and Theon have asked if I think they have slept with my mother while at a whore house in Winter Town."

"Those arseholes. I'll kick them in the balls again." Arya says her face screwing up in anger. Jon can't help but laugh at her words, spending time with his beloved sister never fails to cheer him up.

"Well if you do make sure I'm not near you or Lady Catelyn will blame me for it. Again." Jon says through his laughter. As he is talking Ghost and Nymeria run off further into the crypts.

The siblings follow slowly behind them. Arya takes delight in lighting every torch they pass. Especially the ones that Jon has to lift her to reach. Arya might have been going on ten name days but she is a very short girl and some of the torches are set at the height of full grown Stark men's heads.

"Where are these silly wolves leading us? That's three sets of stairs we have gone down." Jon says as they reach the bottom of the stairs they were on.

"No idea but this is a really old part of the crypts." Arya remarks moving closer to Jon. They follow the wolves further into the crypts.

They reach the very bottom of the crypts before they see their wolves again. Both are standing in front of the very last statue. A statue so worn by the years that none of the features are recognisable, the direwolf statue is also in a bad state of disrepair. The thing that shocks both the siblings is the fact that the sword in the statues hands is still whole and untouched by the millenia of time since it would have been placed there. Ayra reaches out and grabs the sword from the statue.

"It's so light, and warm. Jon, why is a sword in the crypt warm?" she says in a whisper.

"Ayra, that's rude. We need to give who is probably the founder of our house his sword back." Jon takes the sword off her to place it back in the statues hands. Once the sword is in his hands it starts glowing, he can also feel the warmth coming from it. Both direwolves howl at this, shocking both of them as Ghost has never made a sound before.

"Jon, Jon this is important we need to show father." Arya says rushing back to the stairs. The direwolves ahead of her. Jon stops only long enough to grab the scabbard from the hands of the statue, another thing that lasted the test of time.

Three levels above them they find something they didn't expect, both direwolves digging at one of the graves of their ancestors.

"Ghost to me." Jon says trying to get his direwolf to stop destroying the grave. It doesn't work. Ayra and Jon look at each other both knowing that Arya doesn't have the control over Nymeria that he has over Ghost. If Jon cant get Ghost to stop then Arya wont beagle to get her direwolf to stop ether.

Both of them shrug and decide to wait and see what their wolves dig up. It does take long before Arya grows bored. She starts brushing off the dust from where the name should be.

"Hey look, it's Cregan Stark. He was the Hand of the King." she says.

"Yes, for all of one week, I know." Jon says still looking at the direwolves winding what they were doing. It didn't take long to find out as they both rolled an egg each over to Jon. one Green with black spots, one a sky blue with orange spots.

"Jon those must be the eggs Vermax laid when Jacaerys Targaryen came here to get support during the dance." Arya says excitedly. Jon picks them up and puts them in his satchel that he has taken to keeping spare food in. He notices the eggs are warm.

"Arya, we can't tell anyone about these eggs, you know how everyone views dragons in Westeros right now."

"We will hide them in your room, at least until we figure out how to hatch them." her excitement not dimming.

"Come on, let's go hide them. Then we will go show Lord Stark the sword."

"Stop calling him that stupid. He's your father too." the angry look coming back to her face.

"Only when it's just us then." Jon says, trying to placate his sister. The only family member he has that truly treats him like family.

It doesn't take them long to get back into the family wing of the first keep. After hiding the dragon eggs in Jons room, they make their way into the great hall where the meeting of the lords was happening. Arya bursts into the room with no care about what's going on.

"Father, father, look, look, look what we found." Arya says in a tone only excited children can match. She pulls the sword out of Jon's hands, taking it out of the scabbard.

"Arya, why were you two that deep in the crypts?" Lord Stark asks.

"Not important. Look at this." she says before shoving it into Jons hands.

"NO." Lord Stark yells, but it's too late. Before the whole hall the sword lights up. Gasps ring out around the hall.

For those that need dates and years well I have the years sorted out.

Greyjoy rebellion ended in 289ac as per books that's also when spring started.

Summer started 290ac.

This story started at the end of 295ac but is currently 296ac going into 297ac.

Hopefully some of you can guess which sword that is. I couldn't find the name of the ancestral sword of the Durrendon's. All I found was a humorous story of it being a war hammer, them being laughed at by everyone so they threw it into the sea at Storm's End to make everyone forget about it, but that's not verified. So I'm borrowing the name from the story Rob Returns, great story unfinished as of yet, if you haven't read it give it a try, the writer is a rather busy man so it's updated unfrequently but that doesn't take away from how good it is. I am still working on my other story it just doesn't take priority over this one.
