Chapter 1
"Neptune's Beard, how is it that I was able to handle the invasion by the Reach, but I can't conquer you in combat. But nevertheless, one day, I shall be victorious." Turning around, Lagoon Boy, otherwise known as La'gann, was face to face with a vigilante that you might recognize.
"You'll get me next time, but you still need to remember your footing. It was just to easy for me to kick your feet out from beneath you, and I was going easy on you. If you encounter a villain like Cheshire, you would have no chance."replied Nightwing, aka Dick Grayson. "Alright, that's enough training for one day."yelled out Nightwing, towards everyone else who was training.
The Young Justice team has expanded. The new kids were, Beast Boy(Garfield Logan), Robin(Tim Drake), Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes), Wonder Girl(Cassie Sandsmark), Impulse( Bart Allen), and Lagoon Boy(La'gann). Of course the original members are still here, but Kaldur is no longer Aqualad. He is now Aquaman, and he doesn't spend as much time with the team, since he is now part of the Justice League.
"M'gann, did you see when I was able to flip Cassie over. She was so shocked, it was amazing."running over to his sister, Garfield started to brag about how many times he was able to flip Cassie.
"That was pretty impressive, Gar. But you do remember how she was able to surprise attack you in the end right?"asked Miss M.
"Yeah," replied Gar embarrassed.
Nigthtwing's voice then blasted over the intercom, "Team, please meet me in the mission room."
"What do you think is going on now?" Wonder Girl asked Robin
"Don't know. But then again, you can never tell with these missions."
The team eventually got to the mission room. When they got there, they saw Artemis, Kid Flash, and Nightwing were whispering to each other. "If you are going to talk to each other mind as well talk to us too."remarked La'gann in annoyed tone.
"This conversation has nothing to do with you."retorted Artemis.
Interrupting, before this conversation turned into a argument, Nightwing started to debrief the mission, "Team Alpha, your mission will be taking place at Gotham Harbor. We have gotten confirmation that a local gang has been smuggling Joker Gas, Venom, and drugs. We were able to trace down the destination, but the Venom and Joker Gas are located in one of these five sheds. This mission is simply recon. Find out which shed has the weapons. And try to find out who's buying this shipment. Once you do, you will report back to us. DO NOT ENGAGE! Am I clear?" Getting a nod from the others, Nightwing continued. "Robin you will not be joining the others for this mission, instead you will be assisting Batman, Aquaman, Miss M, KF, SB, and I on another matter."
"Um Nightwing, if Robin isn't going with us, then who will be team leader?" Impulse could barely hid the nervousness in his voice. "Without Robin, we could fail."
"Why do you think that we would fail just because we won't have Robin?" asked La'gann, who was now a little annoyed, "I could be team leader." As he was pointing to himself, the team just stared at him.
"Yeah. That won't be necessary. Artemis will go with you."responded Nightwing.
"Wait a minute. When Robin goes with us, we don't have a escort, but whenever Robin doesn't go with us, we have to get stuck with Artemis. That isn't fair at all. Are you just scared, that we would screw up, or do you not trust us enough? If I was leader, I wouldn't be making such sucky decisions."shouted La'gann as he started to get closer to Nightwing.
"I am not worried that you would screw up. I also have full trust in my team. The only reason why Artemis is going with you, is because Robin can't. She will be team leader, because she has had the most training out of all of you. You are also not the leader of this team, I am, and as leader, I will make the decisions that could best benefit the team. If you have a problem with that, no one is stopping you from leaving." Nightwing replied with acid in his tone. Realizing that there is no use to this conversation, Lagoon Boy backed off. "Alright, Team Alpha, get ready for departure."
