Chapter 5
"Well, we're waiting."commented Wally
"It wasn't my fault."countered La'gann
"Wasn't your fault? Dude you unleashed Joker gas, you could have killed everyone who lives in Gotham."shouted Bart.
"Wait, what do you mean by unleashing Joker gas? I want a explanation, NOW!!"commanded Nightwing
"We were looking through the sheds, and there was nothing there. When we got to the last shed, there was a ambush waiting for us. We were fine, and I was able to find where the gang kept the shipment. It wasn't soon after that we were caught. I ordered Impulse to go into the ship and see if he could find anything. While he was searching the ships, the rest of us were dealing with the gangsters. The weird part was when it was revealed that some of the gang are metas. But anyway, La'gann, stupidly, went against my orders, and broke one of the crates that held the Joker Gas. Acting immediately, the team was able to get everyone out. And in order to protect Gotham, we had to set Gotham Harbor on fire." As Artemis answered, Nightwing did not look pleased.
"Everyone OUT!"
"But Nightwing, what if you need us, and in case.."but Wally quickly shutted up, after meeting a pair of angry eyes
As everyone filed out, the only ones left was La'gann and Nightwing.
"What the hell were you trying to do? Going against Artemis's orders, nearly killing everyone on the team, releasing Joker Gas upon Gotham!!"yelled Nightwing
"Look Nightwing, I did what I thought was right!! Isn't that what leaders were supposed to do!!!"
"You are not leader, La'gann. When will you get that?! I'm the leader of this team!"
"You shouldn't be leader!!"roared La'gann, "You, probably half the time, don't know what to do!!"
"La'gann, if you continue to act like this, I can't have you on the team! Please, don't make me have to choose."
"Or maybe you're just weak! If you were the strong leader, that everyone thinks of you, you would throw me off the team. I don't care if you convinced the others to have me. I didn't need my parent, and I'm sure as hell, didn't need you."
"You know what, you're benched from the team!! Until you know how to behave yourself in front of others, you won't be joining the rest of the team for anything."
Taken back, La'gann stormed out of the room and started to yell out curses.
"You guys could come in now."
"So I'm just going out on a limb here, and I'm thinking that La'gann won't be joining us for a while."inquired Wally
"That doesn't matter right now. Right now, we need to talk about the mission." After excusing the rest of the team, the only ones that remained was the older members, Batman, and Robin. "So what did happen during your mission?"questioned Artemis.
"We lost him."
"What? How?"
"We killed the lights of the warehouse that he was in. As Batman, Robin, and I snuck in, we were able to KO some of the henchmen that was there. We eventually seperated, trying to surround Red Hood. We waited for a while, and the back up generator kicked on. We were so close this time!"banging on the table next to them, Nightwing continued, "So anyway, the rest of the team was able to get in without being caught. Just when we were about to get him, Red Hood turned around and looked straight at me. It was like he had a Bat sense. That's when everything went downhill. He attacked us, Batman was able to get his hands on him for a time, but Red Hood quickly got out of his grasp. This guy's moves were swift, clean, it seemed like he was trained by Batman. M'gann tried her best to get into his mind, but he ran after he first. Connor and Kaldur tried to stop him, but he was too fast. He was able to inflict a punch on her. Luckily, Wally was able to get her out of the way, just before he could inflict any other damage. Before anything else could happen, Red Hood was able to get away." Taking his hand away from the table, you could see Nightwing's clutched hand leave a indent in the table.
"Are we going after him again?"
"Yes, but this time we need to be on our A-game."
"You know what would help, to get you on your A-game, a full night's sleep, and maybe a good meal. Seriously dude, what have you been doing."broke in Wally.
"Wally is correct, my friend, you need to sleep." Kaldur then made his way over to Dick.
"Another thing that would help, would be planning out the next attack. I can't sleep, not when I know that there's a assassin out there."retorted Dick.
"Listen Grayson, you could either listen to Kaldur, or I could tell Alfred. Both you and I know that Alfred will do anything."threatened Tim.
"Fine, but I want word if you find anything." Nodding in agreement the team started to get to work, as Dick headed off to bed.
Little did they know, that the man that was wanted, was right outside their door.
