Chapter 6
A week later.
"Alright Aquaman has been able to track down Red Hood again. He's in Metropolis, so that's where Batman, Robin, myself, and the rest of the older members will be going. We'll be gone for at least a week. While we're away, I want you all to be training. And to make sure you're all doing as your told, Black Canary and Green Arrow will temporarily stay with you."
"Come on Nightwing, We'll be fine. It's not like we would burn down the cave."assured Garfield
"Don't give him any ideas." Blue Beetle then flew off to try to catch Impulse
"I know, but with Black Canary here, I don't have to worry about anyone breaking in. Black Canary and Arrow will be here in a few hours. Robin get the rest of your gear."
As Artemis and Wally got the rest of their stuff ready, Wally broke the silence, "Do you think that we'll get to catch this guy?"
"Don't know, but I do know one thing, We're going to have to talk to Nightwing about everything that has been going on."
"I don't know Arty, maybe we should just leave it alone, I mean, Dick is..."
"If you guys are done talking about me, then feel free to meet us at the zeta tubes."
An hour later, Nightwing and the others arrived at Metropolis.
"Alright, I have just gotten word that Red Hood's target is Superman's alias, Clark Kent."declared Nightwing.
"Well, good luck killing him. Superman can deflect bullets, unless it's laced with Kryptonite."chuckled Wally.
"And you don't think that Red Hood already knew that?"retorted Nightwing.
"Alright, what's the plan?"asked Kaldur.
"Red Hood will be at the Daily Planet tonight, so that's where we'll be going. Try stay in the shadows, when we see Red Hood we'll go after him. M'gann get ready to brain blast him, if necessary. Hopefully, he won't try to make a mess, but I surely doubt that."
That Night
"Is everyone in position." As the Dark Knight crouched down on on of the beams, he saw a flicker of red. "Red Hood's here, Move out."
Silently surrounding him, the team and Batman got ready for Red Hood to pounce, but he never did. "Looks like you caught me." Breaking the silence, Red Hood turned around and shot his pistol at what looked to be a bomb that was disguised as a camera. "Aw man, not again."groaned KF, immediately there was a bright flash of light and the entire half of the building was lite up in flames.
"We need to get out of here NOW." Nightwing then made his way over to help Robin get up.
"Funny, wasn't it like a year ago, when we, oh I don't know, got stuck in a burning building with people who we were chasing, but ended up nearly getting killed."shouted KF as he helped get some of the rubble off of Artemis.
"Well, well, well, I guess you heroes aren't as smart as I thought you were. What I know for sure is that you heroes aren't very thankful. I help your Nightwing out, and to repay me, you want to stop me from completing my missions! You heroes don't do anything but get in the way!!" Red Hood said angrily. After regaining his composure, he continued, "However, my master found some great use out of you."snapping his fingers, assassins jumped out of the corners.
"I'm an idiot. This was your plan all along. Your target was never Clark Kent, it was always us."
"Don't worry Nightwing, everyone makes mistakes. Now if you don't mind, could you please round up the prisoners."clicking on a remote, Nightwing's face went blank, and Red Hood started to make Nightwing round the heroes up. Nightwing then started fight everyone. Throwing a kick at Artemis, she was knocked out. Out of the corner, the assassins started to inject her with some serum.
"How the hell are you doing this you Red Bastard?"shouted KF as he dodged another punch.
"KF, GET RED HOOD!!"shouted Aquaman who was using his water magic to try put the flames out, and trying to defend Miss Martian, who was knocked out because of the heat. Before KF could react to Aquaman's orders. He was slammed into a wall. "Dude, fight it!! I don't want to hurt you!! Please, break the hold!"pleaded KF, but he then felt his neck getting pierced by a needle. His vision then went blurry, and felt his limbs go numb, before you knew it, KF was out. Letting out a roar of rage, Connor started to charge at Red Hood. Letting out a sigh, Red Hood turned around, and revealed a box of glowing Kryptonite. Falling back, Connor then felt something on his neck. Looking down, he saw that Nightwing was able to strap a inhibitor collar on him. Already incapacitating Aquaman and Miss Martian, Nightwing then turned towards Batman and Robin.
"Listen, Nightwing, you can fight it. Don't let Red Hood control you." Robin then put down his weapons.
"G-get o-out of h-here! I c-can't h-hold it b-back m-much longer,"moaned Nightwing.
"Robin, we need to get out of here."commanded Batman, but before Robin could get to Batman, he saw Batman's body go limp.
"NO!!!," shouted Robin
"Sorry kid, this isn't personal." Red Hood then hit Robin's head with the back of his pistol. "Come on Nightwing, everyone else, we got our targets, get back to the fortress. I'll be staying here. When you get back, take Nightwing to Master."
"But what about you? What will you do?"questioned one of the assassins
"We already finshed phase one. Now, it's time to complete phase two, and in order to that, I have to wait for the rest of the pathetic League."
"But won't they recognize you?"
"No," Red Hood then let out a dark chuckle, "besides, if they do, I'll just rid of them." Looking back, Red Hood watched as the others left. Taking off his helmet, Jason Todd took in the beautiful destruction, and let out a sly smile, "Watch your back, Young Justice."
