It was the first day of school for Ciel Phantomhive. Yay for him! Ciel was not so pleased. He had to spend the next few hours on a train with some whiny brats, he was not a wizard, even if he now had a wand, and the person he needed to look out for had not arrived. Grumbling, Ciel paced in front of the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. And his day had started out so well- nothing was blown up, Grell didn't make his annoying weekly visit, and the manor had not been destroyed yet. He could only hope that would last the nine-ish months he would be gone.
'Why am I doing this again?' Ciel asked himself. 'Right, because her royal majesty Queen Elizabeth II has ordered me to do so. Why is it that after about a hundred years I don't get to retire? Because I am an immortal F-ing demon who doesn't get any days off!' His mental rant continued on for about half an hour before he was snapped from his thoughts by a small boy tapping his shoulder.
"Excuse me sir," the boy mumbled nervously. "Could you tell me where platform nine-and-three-quarters is?" Ciel and Sebastian just stared. The boy in front of them was small and scrawny, with toothpick legs and knobbly knees. In fact, he was more than scrawny. He looked starved, almost like he never had enough to eat. But weight aside, this child had the most remarkable appearance. He had jet black, gravity defying hair that stuck up a lot in the back. He was also extremely pale. He also had a pair of brilliant Avada Kedavra green eyes. But the most remarkable part of this boy was the scar. The boy in front of them had a lightning bolt shaped scar in the middle of his forehead.
"Excuse me," Harry repeated tentatively, "Do you know how to get onto platform nine-and-three-quarters?" He rocked nervously from foot to foot, getting more and more anxious as the silence stretched on. Finally Sebastian, ever the "hellishly" polite butler, shook himself out of reverie and bowed, responding with, "I do believe, young sir, that to reach the platform, one must run at the barrier between platforms nine and ten."
Harry gasped. "That's impossible!" he exclaimed. "The barrier is solid!"
Ciel smirked. "It is only charmed to appear that way. Why don't I demonstrate?" Grabbing his trolley, with his trunks stacked atop it, he took off at a brisk jog heading straight for the barrier. Harry paled, terrified that the first person to help him not only lost his marbles, but was also about to crash into the brick pillar. However, when Ciel seemed ready to crash, he passed straight through it. Harry rubbed his eyes. 'Did that just really happen?" he wondered, staring at the pillar with his mouth agape.
"Young sir," Sebastian broke in politely, " after you." He gestured with his gloved right hand at Harry, obviously telling him to follow Ciel. Harry set his jaw and grabbed his trolley. As he ran toward the barrier, he closed his eyes. When he opened them, he was confronted by a big red train, the Hogwarts Express. Looking around, he saw Ciel leaning against a nearby pillar motioning him to come closer. As he made his way over, Sebastian walked through the barrier and joined him. Together, the group climbed aboard the train.
Once on the train, they all made their way to an empty compartment near the front. As they settled down and placed their trunks in the overhead, they heard a scuffle from a few compartments away. Just as Sebastian got up to investigate, the door to a compartment two doors down from the one across from them flew open and a young girl with bushy brown hair tumbled out as a boy standing inside yelled, " And stay out, you filthy mudblood!" Sebastian ran over and helped the girl up, glaring at the boy in the compartment.
"Young man," he said through gritted teeth, "I do believe you are aware that such language is not to be tolerated here."
The boy in front of him flushed and scowled, replying angrily, "Why should you care? We are on a train and you have no such authority to speak to me in such a manner. My father will hear about this." Sebastian merely smirked, leading the girl back to their compartment and helping her to a seat. As she turned to him, with a look of wonder, Ciel reached over and whacked the back of Sebastian's head. " Seriously, 'Professor,' did you really have to do that? I thought we were going to keep from getting involved unless absolutely necessary." Sebastian looked sheepish and replied with, "I apologize my lord, but one of the duties as a Hogwarts professor is to make sure that the rules are enforced." Ciel just grumbled.
The girl stared up at Sebastian with shock. " Y-you're a p-professor, s-sir?," she stammered. Sebastian merely nodded his head in agreement. Harry gasped. "What are you doing on the train then, sir?"
"Protecting you, of course. You are a very important person to the wizarding world. In fact, you are so important that Albus may have an aneurism if you don't put on your robes and look presentable for the sorting ceremony."
