And now here we are with Triple LN about to take a (bogus) quest in the Boiling Isles. Just between you guys and me, this kinda made me feel bad for Luz. While I love Luz's sense of wonder, she found out the hard way that things are not what you want them to be. Sad, but that's the truth. Of course, the ending made it all worthwhile.
Also, I've been getting some requests for collaboration with making artwork for my story and characters. First, let me say I'm flattered that people would even consider taking time to bring my story and characters to life, but it's all the same with you, I am not looking to pay anything. If you want to make your artwork, you're more than welcome. For now, I'm just content about writing Fanfiction as a hobby, and I hope you and others will continue to support me as I do.
Now without further delay, I want to thank you for your understanding, and I hope you enjoy!
At night in the Owl House, the wind howled as it moved through the creaking window. Luis and Lucia were sleeping soundly as Luz was stirring and started breathing heavily before flashbacks of recent events.
Owlbert owl hops through the door, followed by the Nocedas. "Stop adorably hopping away, you…Huh?" The three of them stopped to see they'd entered a tent filled with junk; bizarre, worthless junk.
"Welcome to…" Eda started as she snapped her fingers causing everything in the room to become lively when the candles came on and her mural glowed, "The Owl House."
The three of them had their eyes closed, and when they opened them, they realized they were flying over the Isles on Eda's staff.
Luz wakes up the next moring with a gasp and looks around and sees she is still in the room in the Owl House. "It wasn't a dream!" She was excited because not only was her dream for real, but she gets to live her dream of becoming a witch. She open the window to greet the Boiling Isles, "Good morning, terrifying fantasy world."
"Good morning." A monster with several eyes greeted her before sinking back into the water.
Luz cringed and looked at her sleeping siblings and smiled at the sight of them. She silently lurked over Lucia to wake up by shaking her slightly. She began to stir as Luz continued doing it until she finally opened her eyes. She stared blankly at Luz, who was grinning wide at her.
She closed her eyes with a yawn as she sat up, "Alright, so…" She pops her shoulders before she went on looking at her sister, "Everything that's happened yesterday, that was for real, right?" Luz nodded to her question. "And now we're in a different world to receive witch training?" Luz nodded her head again with more vigor. Lucia stands and stretches her arms out and around, "Okay, wake up Luis and get dressed. Our journey starts now."
"Luis," Luz sang her brother's name as she shook him a little, "Wakey, wakey, sleepyhead." All she got was him snoring and her face lowered. Then she got a fun idea and moved her finger to his mouth, "My manita Luz is awesome!" Luz impersonated him as she moved Luis's lips to make it seem like he's talking, "A true inspiration in our lives. She is the bravest, wisest, and most daring little sister to ever set foot in both—" Luis's eyes shot open as his hand grabs her wrist, "OK." The boy then brought her face down to his pillow as he held her arm. "Worlds."
"Heh," Luis chuckles as he lets her go, "You think you'd learn by now, little witchling." Then he pulls her up and could still see her still eager for herself, "Speaking of, ready to start your first day of witch training?"
"You know I have! I've prepared my whole childhood for this," She then noticed King still asleep, and picked him up, waking the little demon, "Good morning, you little cutie-pie." She greeted with multiple kisses on his head.
King was really irritated by her treatment, "I am not your cutie-pie!"
Luz gives him a tight hug, "Yes, you are." She puts him back down on her sleeping bag on all fours.
King lets out a sigh as he slumps down, "I know."
"You'll get used to it, little dude," Luis assured him as he rubbed his skull, "See you downstairs."
The three of them got dressed and looked ready to tackle the day as Luz entered the bathroom. "You guys go ahead, I'll catch up," Luz told them.
"Okay, but don't take too long," Lucia told her as Luis brushed his teeth, "Don't know how much longer our mentor is gonna snooze," Lucia said as she brushed her teeth.
When Luz opens the door, several owls fly out of it, hooting. She watched them fly away before entering, walking backwards, completely oblivious that Hooty was right behind her.
"Hi, Luz!" He greeted her, making Luz scream and karate chop his face. And he got his face stuck in the window, "Ow! I'm just wishing you a good morning. Geez," He retreats as retreated all the way to the front door. "Hoot! Ow!"
"Sorry, Hooty!" She called out to him. "But you should count yourself lucky it was just me and Lucia or Luis," She then looks at the bathroom counter and picks up her Azura book, flipping it open to a headshot of Azura and holding it up to her in the mirror. "This is it, old girl. Your first day on the Boiling Isles, as a Witch Apprentice." She lowered her book and pumped her fist. "Hyah!"
Later, Luz opens a supply closet while her hands covering her eyes. "Please have witchy clothes. Please have witchy clothes. Please have witchy clothes." She pleads before moving her hands to see the closet full of stereotypical witch stuff: potions, hats, robes, and brooms. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" She screamed in enthusiasm.
Lucia and Luis were waiting at the staircase to Eda's and the boy let out a yawn. The two looked to the side and widened their eyes in bewilderment when they saw Luz as she was writing something in her hand. She slaps it on her chest revealing it to be a name tag addressing her as 'Witch Apprentice Luz'. But what really surprised them was that she is now wearing a robe and what looks to be a witch's hat as she stood at the bottom of a staircase with them.
Luis blinked hoping that he was still groggy, but it proved to be not the case. "…For real?"
"Yes, for real," To say Luz was excited was an understatement as she let out a squeal. Eventually, Eda came out in her pajamas which comprised a plum sweater with amber cuffs, a long violet nightgown with a stain, and light-yellow bunny slippers. Then she noticed the trio and became confused, "Good morning, Eda the Owl Lady," Luz greeted in excitement. "Triple LN ready for our first day of Witch Apprenticeship."
Eda groaned as shook bugs off of her and picked something out of her ear. Then she addressed the three of them, "Who are you three again?"
"Huh?" Luz grimaced as her name tag peeled off while her brother and sister stared at the Owl Lady.
Season 1 Intro
The portal door appears and opens showing Luz, Luis, and Lucia seemingly going through the sky upwards, but they were actually falling. Eda rescues the human trio, and along with King, appear flying the Owl Staff, in the direction of The Owl House.
Afterward, it then showed Hooty at the front door, which opened to show Luz twirling the staff until Eda took said staff back with Luz getting nervous as Luke and Lucia smirk at her before King pops up in front to wave with his arms outstretched.
Then a mural appears with Willow, Gus, and Amity in three frames, with Willow making a heart with her hands, Gus holding out his arms in celebration, and Amity just turning her back with crossed arms.
King appears holding a stuffed rabbit, along with many other stuffed animals around. He pretends to rule these stuffed animals, until some of them fall on him.
Triple LN are Eda's staff flying over Bonesborough, where they meet the big-nosed prisoner, Tinella Nosa, and give high-fives to Willow and Gus. Then, Eda and King appeared while running from the guards before the Noceda trio helped them escape only to lose control of the staff, and they appeared safe… until they hang on for dear life as a massive monstrous worm-like monster, mouth wide open, lunges at them as they scream in horror.
Then five of them are seen on the roof of the Owl House, where the three humans cast their Light Spell, making them go into the night before they each explode in a bright light with "The Owl House" logo appearing with the Light spell streaking across it with background sounds.
Eventually, they followed Eda to the kitchen as and Luz tried to jog Eda's memory, "Remember us? Luz, Luis, and Lucia? Triple LN?" A floating coffee cup hits her in the back of the head.
"Two of us saved your butt and made fun of that warden creep for asking you out?" Luis leaned on the wall as he assisted her sister in reminding Eda.
"You brought us on a bogus heist to a prison where we freed the oppressed and started a riot?" Lucia then spun her fingers together, "Any of this ringing a bell?"
"Kids, lay off the details," Eda groaned to the human trio. "I haven't even had my cup of apple blood yet."
"You mean apple juice?" Asked the youngest human.
"No," Eda drank out of her mug as she sat on the table in front of King sitting in a high chair and stabbing his fork into a yellow blob with eyes sitting on a plate.
"Teach us some spells. When do we get our own magic staffs? Were we supposed to bring our own runes?" Her brother and sister looked at her at that last question. Then she gasped ecstatically, "Do you have a dangerous magical quest for us?" She asked as she got closer.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, kid." Eda calmly pushed her away. "Being a witch doesn't happen overnight," She looked at the older ones, "You two aren't going to haggle like me? Not that excited about learning magic?"
"We get that some people would be," Lucia spoke to her, "But we're just not as, you know, enthusiastic about it as Luz," She shrugged at the Owl Lady.
"Besides, we know that a lot of things in life move at their own pace." Luis dug his pinky in his ear, "We were never ones to rush these sort of things."
"Hmm, I'm you two are the smart ones of your groups at home," Eda turned to Luz, "Also, you could've told your kid sis that she's wrapped in a bathrobe and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen."
Luz pulls her 'hat' off and blows on it, revealing that it was, in fact, a traffic cone as the just dust was blown into Luis's face, causing him to cough. "Sorry, big bro."
King laughs at both of their misfortunes as Luis looked in annoyance at the little demon. He grabs the cone from his sister and throws it in King's face, shocking Eda and Luz.
"Who's laughing now?" He asked in satisfaction.
King manages to get the cone off, and starts spitting out the dust, "Dust in my mouth!" Once he was done, he shot an annoyed glare towards the human boy.
"I can respect his motives. Nothing more satisfying than payback," Eda told the small demon. Then she turned to Luz, "But a magic staff, huh? Do you really want one?" She asked, having an apple blood mustache.
"More than anything." Luz asked excitedly.
"Magic staff, come to me!" Eda holds out her hand, and for a second, nothing happens. Then several things crash distantly.
"I'm not cleaning that up," Luis deadpanned.
King, the siblings, and Eda all slowly turn to the sound, until Eda's staff appears and smacks her in the face, much to the amusement of older Nocedas.
"Oh!" Luis commented, "That one had to hurt." He laughed with his sister.
Eda ignores them as she spins her staff before hitting the ground with it. "It's early."
"Right," Luis smirked. "So, fully awake now?"
"Maybe she needs another smack to the face to help get her bearings." Lucia teased, "'Cause by all means. I could watch that all day." She had her hands behind her back.
Eda narrowed her eyes, "Anyone ever told you two that you talk too much?"
"All the time," Luis admitted.
"It's come up." Lucia added as her sister gave a nod.
"Well, how about you shut up before I smack both of you in the face?" Eda threatened them, only for them to comply with a shrug, "Thank you." Eda then addressed them seriously, "Now, witches are awarded their staffs from school. With me as your teacher, you three'll be taking a different approach." She drops a bag full of potions and elixirs on the floor. "You'll have to work for it."
"I run a few businesses." She began to explain as she led them through the living room. "On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm," She grabs a toy sword and hits a button near the pommel.
"I shall smite my enemies! Ages six to eleven." The toy glowed a little.
"By 'rare human treasures,' you mean totally, useless junk that nobody else would want?" Lucia asked.
"What did I say about talking?" Eda warned as she tossed the sword aside before focusing, "But most days I sell only the finest homemade elixirs and potions."
Luz pulled one out and read the label, "'Snake oil.'"
"No one wants an un-oiled snake. Follow me." She led them out to the balcony, "Today you three will be delivering packages and selling potions to that town over there," She pointed to the town that they passed by yesterday. "Bonesborough." The human trio marveled at the sight. "You'll have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who'd love to take my business down and you three along with it."
"I won't let you down, Miss Eda." Luz turns to salute Eda, dropping the sack of potions off the balcony in the process." Fortunately, it was caught by Lucia, who lifted it back up. And Luz at Eda sheepishly.
Eda deadpanned, "For extra precautions, stay close to your brother and sister."
Down in the living room, Eda is pushing the three of them out the door with the bag of potions, "Remember, never befriend a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once." Her advice confused the trio as they had no idea what she was talking about, "Good luck!" She slams the door closed in their faces and dusts her hands off.
"I'm beginning to see why a whack job like her has cut herself from society," Luis gave a blank look to his sisters. "You sure we have no one else to turn to?"
"Oh, come on," Luz tried to get him to look on the bright side, "She just needs some getting used to, that's all."
Inside, she gave a look at King sleeping on a chest, "I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with them."
"What? But I just found the perfect spot. Why do I have to go?" He complained. "You've seen how Luis and Lucia fought off Wrath and those guards."
"I'll admit, those two are capable of defending themselves on their own," She admitted before going back to why they need a guide. "But you and I know they'll either get lost or eaten; probably both."
"No, we won't." Luz said as she pressed her face on the window. Then Lucia came into the frame.
"Yeah, we heard everything you just said," She informed her. "We're not as easy as you think." She pulled Luz off the window. "And don't press your face against that."
Eda spun her finger to pull the curtain down before she turned to the 'demon king', "And because you work for me, too. Unless you want to start paying rent," King threw a small temper tantrum before he stomped out of the house. Eda smirked and faced the four of them, "Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril," She then slammed the door once again.
"Still thinking we couldn't have picked a more lousy witch mentor," Luis said. Luz looks up at him.
"Just give her a chance. Please?"
"Have a nice trip." Hooty told them.
"Let's get this over with," He replied as they walked off.
"Looking forward to working with you, too." Lucia shoved her hands in her pockets as they followed.
The four of them are seen walking through a path in town. Only Luz marveled as she glanced around their surroundings. Needless to say, she was in awe as she took in the sights of the various creatures around them.
"Hey, it's rude to stare." King crossed his arms at her.
"I've only seen places like this in my dreams," She confessed, still in excitement. "It's incredible. And we're the only humans here?"
King shrugs before answering, "Haven't seen any others."
"Wow. There must be a reason for that, right?" Luz bent down to him, "Why are we here? What if we, Luz, Luis, Lucia Noceda, average teens, actually had…" She gave a sharp gasp getting the older ones' attention. "A predetermined path of greatness? Just like Azura!"
Said brother and sister had more weary expressions, not exactly buying that assumption. Lucia blinked before speaking, "I wouldn't exactly go that far, Luz." She said, getting her attention, "One, there's nothing average about any of us."
"Yeah. Two, and I don't want to shatter your hopes," Luis tried to break it down as gently as possible, "But all this is really just an accident. We chased an owl that stole our garbage to get your book back." Luis pointed out to her sister, who looked a little embarrassed remembering that, "That could've happened to anyone."
"Exactly," King agreed with him, "And three, did Azura's path to greatness involve her delivering boil cream?" He questioned holding up a potion labeled 'Boil B' Gone' from the sack.
None of that stopped Luz's optimism, "Today I'm delivering packages, but tomorrow I along with my siblings will be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles with my magical prowess."
King gave a small chortle, "Good luck. The Boiling Isles is nothing but a cesspool of despair."
"More like a cesspool of delight." Luz takes the the boil cream from King and puts it back in the sack before running ahead.
"Right," Luis says sarcastically, "That's exactly how I view a realm where its denizens look like the literal stuff of nightmares, and everywhere you look is a creeping reminder of the slow cruel inevitability of death."
"Wow," King stared up at him, "Morbid as it is, that's a colorful and accurate description."
"How about we focus on catching up to Luz and getting this job done, hmm?" Lucia carried King and placed him in her hood and they ran to catch up to Luz.
They started their approach at the market, where they walked up to a centaur creature holding a pumpkin in front of his chest. "What has four hooves and wants to buy a potion? This guy," Luz pointed finger guns at him.
The centaur sighed as he lowered the pumpkin to reveal his face was on his chest. "My eyes are down here." Luz yelps in surprise.
"Ooh," Luis was embarrassed for both of them, "Sorry about that."
At a house, Luz pressed the doorbell and it bites her hand as it slowly starts to eat her arm. Her siblings helped her as King walked away in annoyance. They managed to pull Luz out with her arm coated in saliva. Then Lucia pushed the doorbell, causing it to hiss. She snarled back causing it to whimper.
Later the four were sitting on a curb eating Not Dogs from the cart behind them. Luz was disappointed and King had finished scarfing his with a sigh, "I know I've had enough delight for one day."
"I thought being one of the only humans in a magical world would make me special," Luz said disappointedly as she took her Azura book out of her bag, "But apparently, it just makes everyone want to scream at me."
"Hey, at least they don't think you're a free meal." Luis deadpanned as he held up an arm to reveal a small winged creature biting his elbow. After having enough, he smashes the creature into the wall behind them and dusts his elbow off. "Handy tip: There's no such thing as a free lunch."
Luz then opened her book to a page of Azura and a wizard, "At this point, Azura had already been sent on an enchanted quest. Where's my quest-granting wizard?" She leaned on Luis, as he pats her head.
"Sorry to break it to you, Luz, but no one here is that well-dressed," King told her bluntly.
"I'll say," Luis stood as he stretched his arms, "If experience has taught me one thing, it's that you don't need some mythical quest to live up to greatness. Only you have that right."
"This has been a rough day," Lucia said as she stood up carrying the sack over her shoulder. Then Luz took out a piece of paper and they walked down an alley, "Let's just deliver this last package and go home."
"Yeah, you're right." Luz sighs as she and Luis pull away a curtain, "Maybe this world isn't what I thought it…" She stopped herself with a deep gasp as she looked up ahead. The other looked too, and all but King marveled at the sight of a large castle with golden banners illuminated by sunlight. "Pretty!"
The doorbell is also made of gold, and towering wooden doors started to open slowly.
"Big houses always belong to big whack jobs," King rolled his eyes not paying attention to the trio ignoring him, "Let's kick the package inside and get outta here." His suggestion was ignored as they were already walking in.
"Hello?" Luz called out as brother and sister looked around.
"Hey, wait," King runs in after them, and yelps when the doors slam behind him. He was frightened by the total darkness, but continued tailing them, "Weh!"
The four entered a large, dark room, "We're delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady."
To their surprise, the lanterns around the room started to light, revealing the room to be a massive library. They illuminated a grand staircase, and above it was a painting of a wizard with a long white beard and a blue robe with stars on it along with a matching pointy hat. Said wizard enters from a door in the same pose he has in the painting.
Luz gasped again and her mood started to lighten up again, "Today just got good!"
"You think we should just tell her to just give this wizard guy his potions so we can leave?" Lucia whispered to Luis.
"You really think she's in the position to listen to anyone?" Luis points his thumb to Luz, and Lucia sees his point.
Luz dances excitedly with a big grin, "Magical wizard!"
"Weird old man in jim-jams." King described with his arms crossed.
"Which is, as we humans say, you know, potato-potahto." Lucia comments him with a shrug.
"I was in my Oscillarium, reading the stars," The wizard explained as he descended down the stairs. "And who might you be, with eyes full of curiosity?"
"Uh, I-I'm—" Luz began to explain, but the wizard rushed in front of them, cutting her off.
"Young lady, dareth I say, I sense something unique about you," He told her, causing her to blush. The wizard spun two circles to summon four chairs, and a table with sweet snacks and tea. "Please, won't you join me for tea?" He asked as he took a seat.
"Okay," Before she could, her shoulders were pulled by her siblings.
"We need to scram, now," The older girl told her.
"She's right," King agreed as he was on Luis's shoulder, "Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets." The wizard takes a handful of glitter out of his pocket and drops it on the floor, illustrating King's point. "I don't trust him."
"But the stars on his robe are sparkling," Luz whispered to them as they deadpanned. "And look, there's a baby fox in his beard." They look to see the fox giggling. "Plus, I see scones on the table." She said slyly, convincing King.
The mention of food was more than enough to change his mind, "Where?!" King pants as he runs to the table.
"Ugh, idiota sin esperanza. (hopeless idiot.)" Luis groans, slowly shaking his head.
They follow King who starts guzzling the food as Lucia drops the potions sack in front of the chair as she sits in it, "I guess a few cups of tea won't hurt."
Luz notices a cart of potions behind her, "Do you sell potions, Sir Wizard?"
"Please, call me Adegast," He politely introduced himself to them. "And yes, I run a small business," He confessed.
"You should run a small business of more scones into my mouth," King laughed as he pumped his fist at his joke, "Yes!" Then he felt Lucia smacking the back of his head, "Ow!"
"I'm surprised to see you here. It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself," Adegast confessed to the three of them.
"Well, we're kinda, sorta her apprentice," Luz told him, as King crossed his arms.
"Oh, really? Having not one, but three apprentices?" The wizard inquired.
"Yeah, well, we are brother and sisters," Luis said as he took a sip of his tea. "That would make us a package deal."
"I see." He said intrigued, "So tell me, how are you three finding the experience so far?" Adegast asked them curiously. It went without saying that the older two thought Eda to not be the best for them; or anyone.
Luz let out a deep sigh before answering on their behalf, "Can I be honest, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was meant for something special. But Eda thinks we're meant for chores, and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place," She looked at her reflection in her tea with a sad face. They didn't admit it, but like their sister, the older two expected at least a little amount of wonder when they arrived in the Boiling Isles.
Adegast in her tea's reflection, "Well, I have a quest—"
"A quest?!" Luz dropped her tea cup at the question, grinning widely.
The wizard chuckled, amused by her enthusiasm. "You didn't let me finish. I have a question." He finished his question.
"Oh," She frowned, a little embarrassed with her hands behind her back.
"Would you like to go on a quest?" The older duo looked at Adegast in bewilderment.
"Yes!" Just like that, Luz's eagerness returned.
Adegast reached into his beard and pulled out a scroll, "I might have just the thing." He rolled it out to reveal a map. "The prophecy speaks of a young human girl who, along with two brave, sharp and daring colleagues, will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil," The older equivalents of Triple LN grew suspicious because this 'quest' sounded too good to be true. "Perhaps thou hath cometh here for a reason." He told the three of them.
"Perhaps we hath," She stared at the map with growing interest.
"Should you believe yourself worthy to attempt this quest…" Adegast started as he walked off.
"So worthy," Luz responded, with Triple LN following him as she looked at the map he gave her.
"You need to know the road is dark and perilous…" Adegast continued.
"Love peril. All of us, big fans of peril!" Luz responded, before looking at her brother knowingly, "Especially our man of action, Luis."
"Do not bring me into this."
"And only the Chosen One can pull the staff from its post," Adegast finished.
Luz glanced down at the map before looking up at the wizard, "Chosen One…"
"Neat story. Awesome," King walked over to them with the sack of potions. "Anyway, your food is gone and we are, too."
"Yeah, let's bail." Luis agreed.
"Yes, we have to go…" Luz started as she rolled the map, "And pack for this enchanted quest! We're in," Luz stated in excitement.
"We are?" Lucia looked at her.
"Wonderful!" Adegast grinned.
Back in Triple LN's bedroom, Luz is sheathing the toy sword from earlier, and around her are various potions, food, the quest scroll, and of course her Azura book. "So, guys, what kind of Chosen One should I be?" Luz asked them as Luis sat on the window sill digging his in his ear, Lucia sat with her back against the wall and hands behind her head and King was kneading on their sleeping bags.
King then yawned and started lying down, uninterested, "Huh? What?" He asked, a little puzzled.
"Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the Good Witch Azura?" She then shifted her book across her face as her expression changed, "Or should I be like a bad girl Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude?" Luz then used her book as a mouth as she quoted, "'I act like I don't care, but I secretly do.'"
"If you want our opinion between the two, sis, the former sounds more your speed." Lucia said, though she still had her doubts about all this.
"Oh, you guys talking about bad girls?" Eda asked, peeking in the room waving a giant blue hand. Then she noticed all the stuff in front of Luz, and held the hand over her shoulder by the bone, "Wait. What's going on?" She asked as she stepped in.
"Eda, tell Luz how dumb wizards are. She won't listen to any of us," King stood up, addressing her.
"Ugh!" Eda placed a hand on her hip, and waved the monster hand around. "Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual drapery," King had dodged the hand she was waving several times, "Why?"
"Your wizard client told Luz…" King started to laugh. "She was a…" He held his stomach as he fell onto Luz's rolled up sleeping bag. "Was a Chosen One!"
"Wait, wait," Eda shook her head in disbelief, "Luz?" She snickered and then laughed along with King.
"He even gave her a map!" King added as they laughed harder with Eda falling on the floor. Luz hid behind her book with an embarrassed blush on her face, and Luis and Lucia glared at them.
Both of them stopped laughing after a few seconds and Eda stood up, "Let me see this map." Luz held out the scroll to her, looking away and saying nothing. After Eda read it, she raised a brow down at Luz. "You didn't think this was real, did you?"
"What?" Luz questioned standing up.
"What are your takes on this?" Eda asked Lucia and Luis.
"I'll admit, it did sound interesting, but at the same time it sounded too good to be true." Luis responded with his eyes closed.
"Not to mention, the 'prophecy' he told us was way too specific at the mention of colleges with our descriptions," Lucia informed them.
"See? Follow your brother and sister's example. This map is bunk," She told her. "There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles. I would have stolen it ages ago." She then noticed Luz's disappointed face and gave her map back. "Ah, don't worry. Couple more months here and you won't look like such a mark," Eda patted her head.
Luis looked at Lucia and she nodded knowing what he was thinking as she kept her disapproving glower at the two. The boy stands up, rips Eda's head off her body, and grabs King by the collar. Then he slammed their faces together, tossed them up, and kicked them out the door, making them slam into the wall and they slid to the floor. Then, Eda's body was thrown into the wall with them. They both groaned out of the agony before addressing Luis.
"That really hurt!" Eda told him as she and King glared at him.
"No, duh! That was the point," He slammed the door in front of them. "Sorry, Luz."
"It's fine," Luz said solemnly, then went back to the issue, "But how come you guys don't believe it's real?"
"As much as we love your optimism and sense of wonder, this is all because of a classic case of being in the wrong place at the right time." Luis elaborated for her from this same discussion from earlier. "You really think we're a group of chosen individuals just because you're overzealous, Lucia's smart, I'm daring, and we're both some of the toughest martial artists in our kung fu class or something?" He asked her if that's what she really believed. "This is playing right into your naïveté."
"I hate to say it, Luz, but Luis has a point." Lucia agreed with their brother, "We're just here because we chased after an owl stealing your book from our garbage." She gave a sympathetic look, "Not exactly an inspiring start to tell the tales of a chosen hero. It might be best if you lower your expectations about everything here, like we do, or else you'll face more disappointment."
Luz sighed at their statements, "Maybe you're right." She said before leaning against the wall and sliding down to the floor.
"Hey. Whether or not you're a Chosen One, that doesn't mean you aren't anything special in your own way. It's important to be yourself because the way you are means everything to us. And we wouldn't trade it for anything," Lucia said as she held her up by the chin.
"Thanks, guys," She smiled softy. Then Luz noticed something on the corner of the map. "Huh? Guys, look!"
The two joined her side to see a word glowing from it underneath the sunlight. Luz held it up further to see a hidden message that read, 'The Chosen One. The path will only appear to the worthy.'
"'The path will only appear to the worthy,'" Luz read it and she gasped in realization at the thought. "That's why Eda couldn't see it. But am...I really worthy?" The window opened behind them and it blew the map out of her hands. It landed next to her Azura book, where a page was flipped. Once the pages stopped, it depicted Azura standing proudly with her friends admiring her. Luz smiled in determination at the page. "I'll never know unless I try! You guys with me?" She turned to her siblings who were still not sure about this. "Look, I'll never know if this is true or not if I don't go and find out for myself. But I need you two to be there for me in case anything happens. So what do you say?" She brought out her fist in front of them, "Triple LN against the world?"
The other two thought about it and they knew they couldn't let her just go out there on her own. Even if this quest was fake, there is no telling what else is out there. They might as well go with her and play along to make sure she stays alive and well. At the very least, it'll be interesting and it'll lighten her spirits.
Luis was first to sigh in defeat as he bumped her fist, "Now until the end of time."
"…Alright," Lucia bumps hers with theirs, "But I want you to promise me something. We come back alive, all of us, whatever happens."
"Understood. Thanks, guys," She smiled, determined to have them by her side. "If one of us has one's back, all of us have each other's."
Down in the living room, where King is laying down on the couch, still sore from his beating, "Ow! That really hurt." He tried to take a recovery nap. "What's his problem?"
Eda reattached her head as she walked up to him as she realized something, "Crony, wake up," She ordered as he closed his eyes. "You said that wizard was one of my clients?" She asked.
"Yes. Now go away," King answered with one eye open, as he really didn't want to be bothered by anyone right now.
"I don't know him that well," She rubbed her chin in thought, leaning back and sitting on the couch with enough force to send King flying into the air and then back onto the couch. "And I don't trust this itch he's scratching in the human." Eda grew increasingly suspicious.
"Less talky, more nappy," King hugged his pillow.
Eda looked away with a sigh as she went upstairs to check on the humans in their room, "Hey, kids?" She was shocked to see the window open with no sign of Triple LN, "Oh, nuts." She looked out the window, looking around, but there was no sign of Luz, Luis, or Lucia anywhere, "Hooty, where'd they go?"
"Hoot, hoot," Hooty stretched himself out in front of the window and had arms. "If you want the answer that you seek, solve my riddle within a week," Eda had no patience for this nonsense so she hit the wall next to her, causing some debris to fall onto the roof. "Ow! Okay, okay. Triple LN went into the forest towards Bonesborough. Sheesh!" He went back to the door and she groaned as this is what she was afraid of.
Luz takes a breath to steel her nerves as the three of them stood next to the city limits of Bonesborough, "Our first mythical quest," She looks at her older siblings, "No going back, now, guys," She said "Sure you're up for this?"
"Ready when you are," Lucia smiled confidently at her.
Luis stretched one of his arms over his head, "Just say the word, sis."
Luz nodded, "Alright! Let's hit it!" They jumped and slid down an incline where Luz stopped herself by pressing her foot over a fallen log, Luis did a front flip over it, and Lucia jumped and grabbed a tree branch to launch herself to perform air tricks and land on her feet. "Nice," Luz complimented as they continued to walk, only to wander in purple mist. "Okay. Got my scroll, got my youthful optimism, got my trusty weapon," She pulls out the toy and hits a button.
"By the power of Skullgar! I am out of battery…" It said distortedly as the lights dimmed down and it died.
"Fantastic," Luis said blankly.
"Well, who needs a sword when you have the most reliable siblings you could ask for?" She continues onward, cutting the vines in their way with the sword. "You know, I wonder if I made the right choice by coming here and dragging you guys here with me?" Luz told them before they stopped in their tracks, "Wow!"
They stumble across a village full of cats wearing clothes and walking on two legs. They walk through raking in the sights until they stop in front of a fountain in the middle of a square, and from it emerges a witch in warrior clothing. After flipping his dark wet hair out of his face and rigging it out, it was a teenage witch boy having thin facial hair and wearing a green tunic, white trousers, black fingerless gloves and boots, a black eye patch over his right eye with his good one being light brown, a sword on his right hip attached to his belt that had a shoulder garment over his left arm.
"I see," The boy spoke to the human trio, "So you're the Chosen One and her colleagues," He spoke to the trio and scoffed. "The Celestial Staff should've picked me, Nevareth Bladestrife, teen prince of Angstmore." He points his thumb to himself in confidence.
"Oh, my." Lucia's eyes as both she and Luz stared at his biceps. "You definitely made the right choice."
"Yes. Yes, I did," Luz agreed with her.
Luis stood behind them as was sure about Nevareth, "Hmm… Handsome, cool with quiet intensity, arrogant with a smooth as butter attitude, athletic build qualified for the youth Olympics," Luis listed before getting straight to the point, "I hate him already."
Eda and King came down the alley leading to the castle with the latter leading the way due to his keen sense of smell.
"This is where we met the scones—l mean, the wizard," He corrected himself pointing forward. When Eda removed the curtains, they saw the castle. However, it looked to be in complete ruins compared to when he and Triple LN were there this morning. Like no one has been in it for a while, "Whoa. It wasn't like this before."
"I don't like this," Eda said as both of them seemed worried.
They opened up the door to see that the library was a mess. Scrolls were scattered across the room, the shelves were broken, paintings were shredded, and rubble was around the upper floor and stairs. Eda stepped in and came across a bundle of scrolls, picking it up. When she opened it up, she saw the message 'The Chosen One' on every one of them.
This made Eda become even more suspicious, "I really don't like this."
"I gotta say, Nevareth," Lucia spoke up to him as all four were walking in the woods with both girls admiring him, they were joined by an onion with eyes, feet, and bat wings, and Luis walked close behind them his hands pocketed. "Your vengeful backstory is so compelling and a true inspiration."
"And I gotta say, I'm loving your animal sidekick," Luz smiled as the leek flew around them happily.
"After my village was consumed, my heart has known nothing but vengeance," Nevareth stated as he looked up dramatically.
"Sorry, to hear that, man." Luis stated in sympathy. He still didn't like him, but that didn't mean he wasn't above showing sympathy towards. "I'd feel the same way if something happened to my family and friends. That's why I practice martial arts with Lucia, so we can protect them and each other."
"That's very admirable, brother Luis. Maybe you could teach your skills,"
"I…suppose I could have a few moves to show you, Nev." He said modestly as Luz smiled at her brother. "Can I call you 'Nev'?"
"By all means," He didn't seem to mind. He then addressed all of them, "Ladies Luz and Lucia and brother Luis. Do you think love can bloom on the battlefield?"
"Whoo-hoo-hoo!" Luz looked up at her Lucia, giggling. "This quest is questing in all the right ways, sis." She nodded in agreement with her as Luis stared blankly.
"Sure, if you're into crazy." The middle said under his breath. His sisters nudged their elbows on him in annoyance.
The four make their way to cross a bridge when another cat-like creature steps in front of them, surprising them. "Ew," Nevareth commented at the cat's lazy eye.
He then danced a jig, "Hum-di-diddle. To pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle!"
"He rhymes," Luis stated dryly, "That's not gonna be annoying."
"Hit me, little furry man." Luz said confidently.
"Your quest shall stop if you fail this game. So, tell me, my dear, what is my name?" He asked her.
Luz looked closer at the name tag he had on his cowl, "Uh…Chris?"
"That's it!" He exclaimed joyfully, "You may cross the bridge. And please take these, Chosen One," He presented a ring with a blue gem. "It shall help you on your journey."
"Wow," Luz smiled, putting the ring on her finger, "This is amazing. Thank you."
"Do you need a cape?" Nevareth questioned.
"Nah, I think I'm good—" Luz was interrupted by his insistence.
"You can use my shirt," He ripped off his shirt and the girls stared at his muscles.
"Take it!" Lucia whispered to the girl.
"Yes, I need a cape," Luz said eagerly and he wrapped it around her shoulders as she grinned widely.
"This is ridiculous," Luis began with a groan, "No puedo creer lo desesperados que están ustedes dos. (I can't believe how hopeless the two of you are.)"
"Watch it, Luis!" Lucia scolded him as the two glared, "If Nevareth was a beautiful girl, would you act the same?"
"Mmm. I guess," Luis conceded in defeat. "But I would at least try to not make myself look easy."
"We resent that!" Luz pointed at him.
"Three cheers for the Chosen One." Nevareth raised his fist, "Hip, hip…"
"Hooray!" The onion joined him.
"Hip, hip…"
"Hooray!" Luz began to blush at the praise and her siblings smiled as they knew she needed this. But they still couldn't help but feel like something was off.
"Hip, hip…"
"Oh no!" Eda and King have come across the cat village the three humans passed through. Like the castle, it was in ruins. Everything was destroyed and covered in unkempt vegetation. "Are you sure they came here?" Eda asked King, who was tracking their scent.
"Can't mistake their smell," He responded affirmatively. "Like lemons, and young, naive confidence," That scent belonged to Luz. "Another with…sweat, carbon, honed discipline, and daring confidence," That was Luis. "And lastly…polyester fabric, and cynicism mixed with moral integrity," The last one was most likely Lucia. (A/N: Yeah, I totally made those up for the other two.)
Eda stepped forward to the broken fountain where one of the cat people looked lifeless, "Hey. Wake up, you," She demanded, flicking its forehead. Then she grabbed its shoulders and shook him, "What have you done with Triple LN? What's your endgame?"
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be actually a puppet. And it creepily turned its head to her, "To find your friends and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path." It laughed evilly and disintegrated right from her hands.
King yelped at the sight, "The cat man melted!"
Eda sighed and stood up, "It's a trap." She told him, dusting herself off her hands. "They want me to follow them."
"So what do we do?" King looked up at her as she looked ahead.
The three humans were seen walking through another forest with Nevareth, his onion, Chris, and a small fairy.
"We had such a nice time at your feast, Princess," Luis said politely to the fairy between him and Luz. "Thank you."
"Yeah," Luz responded in agreement. "All your food was so tiny and cute."
The fairy princess then conjured something from fairy dust. "For you, Chosen One," It was a pair of bracelets, and she placed them in hand.
"Thank you," Luz said with gratitude as she placed them on her wrist. Then she looked at them with gratitude, "You have all been so kind and thoughtful. I hope this quest never ends!" She raised her arms up, only for them to drop by Lucia.
"Too bad all good things must come to an end."
"Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is around the bend," Chris announced to her.
"Thanks for ruining the mood, guys," Luz deadpanned with slumped shoulders.
"Go on, Chosen One," Nevareth gestured to the path ahead. "The Celestial Staff is yours. You've earned it," She smiled at him as he turned to Luis, "And brother Luis." The boy's attention was brought to Nevareth, "You have wonderful sisters. Care for them for as long you live."
Luis's sisters looked at him as he just stared at Nevareth, and then he smirked, "I don't need you to tell me that, Nev." He then bowed in respect, "But still, thanks for coming along with us." His sisters smiled at him.
Nevareth bowed back, before raising his head to wave goodbye to the three with other members, "Farewell, my friends."
"We love you all," The fairy princess said.
The trio walked down the path, smiling about the recent events they've had with each other, "You know, whether or not this quest was a sham, I actually had a nice time." Luis spoke up.
"Yeah, come to think of it, we haven't been spending much time together before we arrived at the Boiling Isles," Lucia brought up. With school, work, and all of them just doing their own things, they haven't had much time together. "This was actually a nice change of pace." She smiled at them.
"Thanks, guys." Luz smiled back at them as she felt the same, "For doing this."
They stopped walking as Luz gasped at the sight of a white staff with a blue gem on top of it, the Celestial Staff. It was in the center of a stone platform in the middle of a small lake surrounded by trees. They continued moving forward and once at the edge of the lake, a light started to shine from below. They looked down to see the water bubbling and stone rose out of the water forming a walkway.
"What are you waiting for, an invitation?" Lucia asked as the older gently pushed her forward. "Go for it."
Luz smiled at how they had faith in her, "I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said. There is wonder here," Luz skipped forward and spun happily. "All this was more just a random accident and I...I think we came here for a reason!" She stopped as she reached the staff, and was hesitant for a moment, but she steeled herself. "Okay, this is it. Moment of truth," She slowly reached out for it, gripping the staff, and light came from it. Her siblings covered their eyes with their arms to shield them from the brightness. Once it died down, they saw Luz holding the staff with pride, "Yes! I am the Chosen One. I knew it."
"So, Chosen One," Luis started as the both of them came by her sides, "How do you feel?"
"I feel…great! Empowered!" She told them as she'd never thought of experiencing this before, "I always suspected there was a reason nobody understood my wacky antics back at home," She twirled around happily, almost hitting her brother and sister with it, but they were happy for her nonetheless. "Now I have concrete proof." She laughed triumphantly. Her newfound confidence was short-lived, however, as the staff in Luz's hands withered into dust. She tried to grab it, "No!"
Luis then noticed something about their surroundings, "Oh, crud. This doesn't look good," The flowers at their feet wilt away and died as the water drained from the lake and retreated up the riverbanks. Even the tree leaves started to disappear in clouds of dust like the staff.
"What?" Luz questioned as they all looked around in horror.
With Eda and King they were flying through the woods at high speeds, "I know this guy," She spoke up to him. "He's no wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people." She explained to him to have him realize what said puppeteer is up to, "He's trying to use the kids to get to me."
"Yeah." King spoke with his tone leaking sarcasm, "And we're flying directly into his trap. Hurray." He said with fake enthusiasm about the idea of going towards someone who wants to kill them.
"If you can think of a better plan, I'd love to hear it," She retorted, thinking this was their best shot. "Hey. Faster, you," She slapped her staff, and it picked up its flying speed.
At 'Celestial Lake', the youngest of Triple LN started to whimper as she pulled out her sword as a strange purple fog appeared around them. Her older siblings got in a fight stance, "I don't know what's going on, or what this is about, but stay close." Lucia said as they stood back to back towards each other.
"Luz the human." She flinched but turned and looked in front of to see Adegast.
"Magical wizard?" She asked in confusion, wondering why he was here.
"I don't think he's a wizard, hermana," Lucia said as she and Luis stood protectively around Luz. She then addressed Adegast, "Who are you? What are you?"
"Ah, good intuition," He began as the wizard was revealed to be a puppet as his real form appeared from the fog behind it, "But too little too late to ask, witch apprentices," He let out a cackle as his true form was a large octopus-like creature black eyes and yellow irises.
They backed away as the ground behind them started rumbling. They looked back to see all of the people they've met were being controlled by the puppetmaster surrounding them.
"Okay, Luz, don't panic." She closed her eyes to calm herself, "This is classic Chosen One biz. You just have to rescue everybody and defeat the final boss." She muttered to herself, but Luis glanced over his shoulder.
"I don't think that's the case, Luz."
"As the boy said, I am everybody, you fool," Adegast spoke as the wizard. "Don't you see? I'm no wizard and you're no Chosen One. I've tricked you." He revealed with an evil laugh.
"What?" Her cape started glowing and changed into rope binding her. The ring and bracelets turned into chains and two other tentacles wrapped around Lucia and Luis. "No! Betrayed by my own cool accessories. Why are you doing this?" She demanded from Adegast.
"Your mentor has been stealing customers from my potions business for years," Adegast began to explain. "She must be destroyed." He finished as all the members surrounded her.
"Does everybody have a beef with Eda here?" Luz asked in disbelief, making the puppets respond in agreement causing Luz to sigh.
"Actually, in the short time we've been with Eda, I can actually see why no one likes her," Lucia told her sister, "You can count at least two on that list, regardless of…this whole situation." She gestured her head about the quest and getting captured.
Adegast ignored Lucia, "And you lured her right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special," He mocked Luz.
"So, in short, you tricked Luz into going on this bogus quest knowing we'd come with her and Eda would come get us so you could get revenge on her just for stealing your business?" Luis asked Adegast, getting the details straight for this petty revenge scheme, "Does that sum up your plan?"
"Exactly," He answered, "And it's only a matter of time until she arrives."
He glared at the puppeteer for a brief moment and turned a sorrowful glance at Luz, "Sorry this quest didn't turn out how you wanted, manita." He apologized seeing her face.
"We could've talked you out of it, but didn't because we wanted you to feel like we did come here for a reason and you were special." The first born followed up in a similar manner.
"No," Luz said as she had her eyes closed, "The one who's at fault is me. I wanted to believe I was chosen so badly and I dragged you two into this," She opened her eyes. Then she glared at Adegast, "And joke's on you, 'cause Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap.
Lucia and Luis glanced at each other knowingly, "Three…two…one."
"Adegast," Eda called from above.
"Aw, heck," Luz closed her eyes in disbelief at how Eda actually came as she and King landed in front of Adegast.
"Eda, I have you now!" He declared, tentacles rising to capture them from underneath. He held them up to face him.
"And she took her sweet time getting here." Lucia spoke as she had one eye looking open at her.
Eda looked at her in disbelief, "Oh, right, like you knew we were coming."
"Yup," Lucia told her honestly. "Because, one, the power of plot convenience is powerful," That made Eda and King become confused about what she meant. "And two, despite your cold, off-putting, inconsiderate, insensitive, unfeeling, and generally negative attitudes, one has to admit that you guys must have something that resembles a heart." She told them bluntly, making their eyes widen.
"Oof," King commented at her description of them, but Eda shook it off and focused.
"Anyway, you have me. Now release the humans," She demanded.
"I didn't have to be a part of this!" King squirmed as Eda deadpanned at his protest.
"Oh, they can leave if they want to," Adegast glanced at Luz, "But I sense this young one wants a real fantasy," The Chris puppet blew purple smoke onto her as the siblings tried to break free.
"Luz!"
In a dark void, Luz had her eyes shut, and when she opened them, she was unshackled and all of the puppets appeared out of the darkness around her.
"Stay with us, Luz," Nevareth knelt down with a hand on her shoulder. "Stay with Adegast. We need you here. You could be our Chosen One."
"Yeah," Luz looked at the fairy princess with a smile. "You can eat our tiny foods forever."
"Luz," She looked back up at Nevareth. "Why would you want to live in a world where people laugh at you?" He questioned her.
"It is beautiful here," She said as everyone surrounded her.
"Luz!" Eda called out, but she went unheard.
"And you guys think I'm special," Luz said as she closed her eyes.
"No!" Eda shouted as she struggled to get out of tentacles that eventually covered her face, save for her eyes as she was muffled.
"Oh, thank goodness," Luis said in relief, "Someone finally shuts her up." Eda glared at the boy for his comment.
Luz started to frown when she recalled what her brother and sister said. "You don't need some mythical quest to live up to greatness. Only you have that right." She recalled what Luis said.
"Whether or not you're a Chosen One, that doesn't mean you aren't anything special in your own way. It's important to be yourself because the way you are means everything to us. And we wouldn't trade it for anything."
Luz's eyes shot open, "But it's not real! I don't need a quest or to be a Chosen One!" She declared using her siblings' words. "I just need to believe in myself!" Luz snapped out of it, pushing past the puppets to grab the toy sword to stab the tentacles and setting her brother and sister free. They landed in a crouch looking up proud of their sister. "I am a witch's apprentice, and I'm gonna earn my magic staff the hard way."
"You had us worried for a moment," Lucia said as she and Luis stood up. "But I guess it was over nothing."
"Well, then…" Luis popped his neck, "Ready to rock, Luz?"
"You bet!" She declared standing between them as they glared at Adegast, "I believed you, Magic Man. Now you will feel the wrath of Triple LN!" She yelled as they charged forward with Luis and Lucia punching and kicking any puppets that got in Luz's way as she stabbed the wizard puppet, making it poof.
Adegast screamed in pain and started to shrink, essentially letting go of King and Eda. They landed near Luz as the fairy princess puppet flew towards her. Luz swung her sword the fairy poofed also. Even her siblings started hitting the other puppets hard enough that they went poof. Getting into the fight, Eda then spun her finger, creating flames to burn the cat puppets to ashes. Adegast screamed in pain again and Lucia punched the Chris puppet in the face, poofing it out of existence.
The Nevareth puppet yelled and swung at Luz, but Luis tackled her out of the way. After getting up, Luz was about to step forward, but Luis stopped her, "This one's mine. I owe him a match."
Luz smiled, giving him her sword, "All yours, hermano." He takes it ready to face him.
"Bring it on, Nev," They charged at each other, clashing their blades. "Consider this your first and final lesson: No one messes with Triple LN." He declared stabbing Nevareth in the chest.
"Ah, my flawless pecs!" Nevareth screamed as he turned to dust and the Nocedas came together. Eda lands next to them, and they all share a smile.
"Back off!" Adegast spoke, and they saw he was holding King as a hostage. "Or the dog gets it."
"I am not a—" Before King could finish, Adegast shuts him up. Everyone backed away as Eda and Luis dropped their weapons.
"King, I'm sorry," Luz apologized as they all stood in surrender. "I should have listened to you, my brother and sister, and never trusted that wizard," She said as her siblings felt sad for her and Lucia noticed the sword in front of her feet. "You were right. He isn't mystical or magical. He's just a big, slimy jerk."
"A slimy jerk who taught our sister an important lesson." Lucia says getting their attention, "And we have a lesson of our own to share with him."
Adegast scoffed, "And what would that be?" He asked, a little curious.
"Something me and Luis learned in our combat lessons, sushi boy," She smirked at him. "Don't watch the mouth, watch the limbs." She kicked the sword, and it pierced Adegast right in his head. Adegast screamed in agony as he dropped King allowing Luz to catch him. They watched as Adegast shrunk to the size of a small calamari.
"Well, that's the last time I take an outside referral," Eda said as she picked him up by his tentacles…before eating him. Then she noticed Luz's face, "Oh, did you want some of that?"
"No. I'm just confused," Luz confessed.
"Thinking of calling it quits, huh?" Eda asked as she crossed her arms.
"This place is nothing like I imagined." She said as her siblings placed a hand behind her.
Eda hummed as she looked around their surroundings, "Maybe not here, but come with me," She led them away from the dried lake. "I got something to show you."
Eda flew into the sky with them with her staff as Triple LN was blindfolded. They were holding onto the staff until they eventually came to a stop. "Okay, you can look."
They removed their blindfolds, being in awe of the sight in front of them. "Es un espectáculo digno de contemplar. (That is a sight to behold.)" Lucia said awestruck as she sat between Luz and Luis.
"Whoa…" Luz said as they were looking at the Boiling Isles, but at its full as it sat on the skeleton of a giant.
"The Bones of the Isles. Up close, the Isles can be slimy..." Eda began to explain to them.
"And very stinky," King stated matter of factly.
"And gross," Eda looked away, a bit disgusted. "But if you look at it from a different perspective…" She said as a shooting star flew over their heads.
"It's beautiful," Luz smiled softly.
"Yeah," King closed his eyes, falling asleep at the serenity.
"Eda, how did you know that wizard was lying?" Luz couldn't help but ask, making Eda sigh.
"...Look, kid, everyone wants to believe they're 'chosen,' but if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special…" She chuckles "We'd die waiting. And that's why you need to choose yourself," She told the girl with a smile.
"That's actually sound advice," Lucia smirked with a quirked eyebrow, "Better than I expected from a social outcast."
"Yeah," Luis agreed with his big sister. "Guess you're not the total lousy mentor we thought you were." Eda deadpanned at them.
"Does that mean you'll give me a magic staff of my own?" The girl asked eagerly.
"Not yet, but...someday." Then a thought came to her, "And by the way, Luis, did you really have to rip off my head and kick me and King?"
"Yep." He retorted bluntly.
"Might I ask why?" Eda inquired.
"We don't take kindly to anyone who makes fun of our kid sister." Lucia informed the Owl Lady.
"So, you guys pound any jerk for just laughing at her?" She asked rhetorically.
"Duh," He replied in a scoffed tone.
"Growing up, we had each other's backs. If you mess with one of us, then you mess with all of us." Luz leans against Lucia's shoulder feeling her heart flutter. "And I guess you made up for it by saving us, and giving us a new perspective on your world. So, thanks."
Eda looked at them, and decided to let them have their moment, "I guess I can let that slide, even though your methods might seem a little violent." Eda conceded, "And you're welcome." She welcomed the praise, but Luis was quick to dismiss it.
"Doesn't mean we like you." He replied in a dry tone which made Eda widen her eyes at him as he looked at the sunset.
"Luz is one thing," Lucia followed up after him. "Us, something else entirely. And we're still a little ticked off about you laughing at her," After what they went through, Eda still couldn't believe they were giving such disrespectful attitudes towards her. But they made a good point about how she and King were disrespectful towards Luz and making fun of her aspritions. She just huffed and continued watching the sunset.
Season 1 Outro
Luz, Luis, and Lucia are seen walking down a part of Bonesborough called Thistle Street. Lucia had her hands behind her head, as Luis's were in his pockets with his skateboard wrapped in his arm as they all looked around in amazement.
The trio then walked through the marketplace with various stalls in it, especially blinking meat with multiple eyes. The meat horrified Luz and disgusted the other two.
Luz was in the Slayground, kicking a Grudgby ball. In the background, Lucia was break dancing and Luis was showing kids how to do a handstand on his board.
They are now walking through the hallway of Hexside greeting Willow and Gus while Amity can be seen leaning on a pillar. Willow blushed at Luis as Luz raised her eyebrows at him and Lucia was nudging her brother knowingly.
Lucia is walking through the Bonesborough Library before the book Lucia was holding flew off. Her younger brother and sister were reading manga at a desk.
The trio walked through a dark part of the Boiling Isles forest with bones on the ground. Luz looked around with her hood on and a frightened expression as her siblings seemed prepared to fight anything that may come out.
Luis was lightly pushing his foot against the ground as he skateboarded along a river path of the Boiling Isles while his sisters were sitting by the river as they all looked at the Titan's skull. After a kickflip, he turned his attention towards the skull as well.
Triple LN are running through the forest, and arriving at the Owl House where King was chatting with Eda excitedly as Hooty watched them from the back with a happy expression. King and Eda noticed the trio and waved at them before the trio smiled back and ran toward them before the camera pans up, showing the clear purple sky.
Okay…So, Triple LN's first quest was…totally bogus. But thanks to Eda, they realized they could always forge their own paths.
And yes, I do know the treatment I had Luis gave Eda and King was harsh, but hey, they had it coming. And it's not like I'm the only one who's ever thought so.
