Author's Note: Hello there, my readers! It's been a long time since I've made an MHA fic, but now, I'm doing something different this time around. Anybody else feel like Midnight got the short end of the stick? I sure do, and her death never completely sat right with me. So, with FanFiction, I'm here to change that, but as you most likely already know, I'm combining the Marvel Universe. While Spider-Man will be an important part to this story, since this will have the ship of Spider-ManXMidnight, it won't be the only important part of the story, if you catch my drift.
Anyway, I don't wanna spoil too much, so have fun reading!

Intro Music: My Hero Academia Opening 1 - The Day
Chapter 1: A Different World
BGM: Kingdom Hearts - Dearly Beloved
"The sound of a soft breeze filled the silence. It was the only noise, but that's how it felt. Silent. Peaceful. Almost like I had no weight in the world. I was free... but not in the way I would have liked."
"I am Nemuri Kayama. You may know me better by my hero name, Midnight. Some say my quirk is an odd one—an ability to put people to sleep with a single touch, or a gaze, or even the very air around me. It's a blessing and a curse all rolled into one. But I've never let it define me. Instead, I used my quirk to become something more."
"I was a teacher at U.A. High School, the prestigious institution that molds the future of Japan's greatest heroes. I dedicated myself to my students, to nurturing their strengths, and teaching them how to be the heroes they were meant to be. I watched over them as they learned, grew, and faced their own challenges. And in the process, I came to think of them like family. The good, the bad, the frustrating… it didn't matter. They were my responsibility."
"And yet, I stand here now, or at least... I think I do."
Location: Unknown
Midnight blinked. The world around her was nothing like U.A. High. No familiar halls, no classrooms filled with chatter. There was only a vast, endless void of nothingness.
Midnight thought she had reached the end of her journey when she faced the Paranormal Liberation Front. They ambushed her, outnumbered her, and she fought with everything she had. But even she couldn't escape the fate they had prepared for her. That was supposed to be her end—her final chapter. The end of everything she had known.
But she was wrong.
Midnight could feel something shift in the space she occupied. A whisper in the air, a faint noise. Crying. Soft and distant, yet heart-wrenching. It grew louder as something appeared in front of her.
The image that formed before her was impossible. Her students—her beloved students—stood around her lifeless body, holding it close, their faces contorted in sorrow. Tears streamed down their faces, their voices cracking with grief. Their cries echoed in her ears, as if they were all speaking directly to her heart.
Midnight felt a pang in her chest, an aching guilt, even though she knew she hadn't caused this... or had she?
Midnight couldn't stop staring at the scene, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of it. Why was she here? What had happened to her? Why was she seeing this? The image began to fade, the sounds of crying fading along with it, until there was nothing but silence again.
The stillness lingered, suffocating.

Then, without warning, a voice shattered the quiet. It was cold, chilling—echoing with an unearthly quality that seemed to penetrate every inch of her being.
"Who's there?" Midnight asked, her voice trembling more than she cared to admit.
The laughter that followed was bone-chilling. It was not warm, not kind. It was a mockery, a sound that sent an icy shiver down her spine. The voice seemed to fill the void around her, like it was everywhere at once.
"Ah... such a delicate soul, still unaware of where you are," the voice purred, dragging the words out slowly, with an unsettling amusement. "You're in the astral plane, my dear. The threshold between the living world and the afterlife."
Midnight's breath caught in her throat. Astral plane? The afterlife? What was happening right now?
"Who are you?" she demanded, trying to force her voice to steady itself.
"Ah, yes. The formalities," the voice teased, the darkness around Midnight seeming to twist as it spoke. "I am Mephisto. A being who transcends realities."
Midnight's heart skipped a beat. Something about the way he spoke, the certainty in his voice, rattled her. This wasn't just some typical villain or trickster she had encountered. This... this was something far beyond. Something incomprehensible.
"What do you want from me?" Midnight asked, though the fear and confusion were evident in her voice.
Mephisto's voice grew darker, filled with an ominous promise. "Oh, it's not so much about what I want from you. It's what I can give you."
His words hung in the air, unsettling in their implications. "You see, I watched your death. It was... unfortunate. Truly, it's a pity to see someone like you go out in such a way."
Midnight frowned. "What are you offering me?"
Mephisto's voice dropped to a whisper, almost intimate. "A second chance at life."
Midnight blinked, the words taking a moment to sink in. A second chance at life? Was this some kind of trick? Some dark game he was playing?
"What's the catch?" she asked, though every part of her screamed to run, to refuse whatever this was.
"Ah," Mephisto chuckled softly, "You're a smart one. You'll like this... There is no catch, really. I just wish to be... entertained."
His words were coated with something dangerous. Midnight couldn't shake the feeling that she was standing on the edge of a precipice, staring into an abyss that promised nothing good. And yet... part of her couldn't ignore the allure. The thought of returning, of seeing her students again, of having a chance to fix things... It made her hesitate.
She swallowed hard, trying to steady her racing heart. "If I come back... will it be the same? Will I go back to my old life?"
Mephisto didn't respond immediately. There was an eerie pause, a silence that stretched for too long.
"That's for you to find out," he finally said, his voice thick with meaning. "But do not mistake this for a trick. This is real. I can give you what you desire."
Midnight took a deep breath. Her instincts told her to reject him, to refuse his offer, but... the temptation was too great. The idea of a second chance, of not being gone, of seeing her students again... It was too much.
"I accept," Midnight finally said, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her.
Mephisto's voice became almost pleased. "Good choice, Midnight. A very good choice."
And then, the world around Midnight shifted. Darkness swirled, engulfing her, as flashes of blinding light shot through the void. The air around her thickened, and before she could even gather her thoughts, everything around her exploded in a rush of energy.
She vanished.
The last thing Midnight felt was the cold touch of the void... and the promise of what was to come.

BGM: Kingdom Hearts II - Lazy Afternoons
The world was still spinning. Midnight's body felt heavy, as though she'd just woken up after an exhausting battle. Her eyelids fluttered, fighting the pull of sleep as she groaned, instinctively clutching her forehead. The pain was unbearable, like she had just experienced one of the worst headaches imaginable, but she didn't understand why. She was trying to piece it together, to regain her bearings, but everything felt so... wrong.
Midnight slowly sat up, her head throbbing, and blinked, trying to focus on her surroundings. The room was unfamiliar—nothing about it felt like home. This wasn't her apartment, nor was it U.A. High. No, this room had a foreign feel to it, and the bed beneath her was not one she recognized. It was plush, the kind of comfort that wasn't in her usual modest surroundings.
She ran a hand through her hair, still trying to make sense of everything. Then, the memory hit her like a tidal wave. The offer from Mephisto. The second chance. She was alive again, wasn't she?
But something didn't feel right.
Midnight looked around more intently now, trying to make sense of where she was. The nightstand beside her bed caught her attention. Photos. She reached over and picked one up, her fingers trembling as she examined the smiling faces in the frame. None of them looked familiar. There were people she didn't recognize at all, and none of them were from U.A. High. No Izuku, no Bakugo, no Todoroki—no students that she had known.
Her mind raced. Where was she? Who were these people? And why didn't anything make sense?
Before Midnight could process it further, a knock came at the door. Her heart skipped in her chest, uncertainty flooding her veins. She didn't know what to expect. Was it someone from this strange new world? Or was this all just a dream? She hesitated for a moment, debating whether to answer.
"Who's there?" she finally called, her voice shaky.
A voice responded, one that sent a shiver down her spine, not because it was ominous, but because it was unfamiliar. "It's Peter. Peter Parker. Can I come in?"
Peter? The name didn't ring any bells. She's never met a Peter Parker, let alone heard of one. Still, his voice didn't seem threatening. There was a warmth in it that felt... strangely reassuring. She wasn't sure why, but it soothed her nerves, even if only slightly.
Midnight took a moment to gather herself before replying, "It's... fine. You can come in."
The door creaked open, and a man stepped inside. He had a kind smile on his face, but the moment his eyes landed on Midnight, it faltered, replaced by a look of concern. His gaze softened, and he took a tentative step forward. "Are you okay?"
Midnight stared at him for a long moment, the words stuck in her throat. She didn't know if she was okay. But how could she explain all the confusion swirling in her head?
"I... I don't know if I'm okay," she admitted quietly, her voice trembling as she finally gathered her thoughts. "This doesn't... feel right."
Peter stepped closer, his expression never wavering. "It's okay. Take your time." He looked at Midnight with the kind of empathy that made her heart skip, even though she didn't know who he was.
After a brief pause, Midnight managed to ask, "Where am I?"
Peter tilted his head slightly, still holding his concern in his gaze, but a faint sense of confusion crept onto his features. "We're at the X-Mansion, remember? Professor Xavier mentioned that we'd have some new students today."
The X-Mansion? Professor Xavier? Midnight's mind spun. She had never heard of such a place, nor this Professor Xavier, and she had certainly never met Peter Parker.
Midnight shook her head, trying to piece it together. She didn't know what was going on. This wasn't her world. She could feel it deep in her bones.
"I'm sorry... but I don't know what you're talking about," Midnight confessed, her voice low and tinged with unease. "I've never heard of this place, or anyone named Xavier, or even you."
Peter's expression softened, and he knelt down beside her, gently placing a hand on one of her hands. The warmth from his touch sent a ripple of calm through Midnight's chest, though she still couldn't shake the confusion clouding her mind. "Did you drink some of Logan's alcohol last night?" he lightly joked, as he looked into her eyes. "Joking aside… I'm here for you, though, okay?"
Midnight could feel the sincerity in his words, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, she didn't feel completely lost. There was something about Peter's presence—his kindness—that made her feel like she wasn't as alone as she thought.
Peter took a step back, his voice soft but firm. "Maybe you shouldn't teach history today. I can fill in for you so I can help you out."
Midnight stared at him, trying to process everything. If this was where she was now—if this was her new life—then it seemed like she was still a teacher, just in a completely different context. The questions were overwhelming, but they couldn't go unanswered.
"No," Midnight said quietly, shaking her head. "I'm fine. I'll teach today."
Peter seemed hesitant, still concerned, but he didn't press. "Alright, if you're sure..." He lingered for a moment, his hand resting on the doorframe, before offering one final piece of comfort. "But if you need anything, you know where to find me."
Midnight blinked as Peter gave her a reassuring smile, then turned to leave, closing the door softly behind him. Her gaze lingered on the space where he had been. His words echoed in her mind, and a small part of her found solace in the fact that, perhaps, she wasn't entirely alone in this strange new life.
But the truth was undeniable now.
She wasn't back at U.A. High. This wasn't her world.
She had been given a second chance, but she didn't know what she had stepped into. The life she had known was gone, and in its place... was something else entirely.
Midnight had a lot of finding out to do.
She needed to get moving. Sitting still in that room, surrounded by confusion, wasn't going to help her figure out anything. So, she decided to walk. She wasn't sure where she was headed, but she just needed to see something—anything—that could help her make sense of this strange world she found herself in.
The X-Mansion was enormous. The hallways seemed to stretch on forever, and the walls were lined with various rooms, each one full of potential, she guessed. It didn't have the exact same feeling as U.A. High School, but there was something about it that reminded her of home.
The students here, though different, carried the same sense of camaraderie that Midnight had seen in her own students at U.A. She watched as they passed by in pairs, laughing, talking, their faces filled with energy and excitement, just like her own students used to when they weren't wrapped up in the intense world of heroes.
It was comforting, in a way. But it was also painful. A small pang of homesickness crept up on her as she observed them. Midnight missed U.A., her students, her fellow teachers, her life. It felt like she had lost so much of what was familiar, and now, she was surrounded by a new world she could barely understand. Her chest tightened at the thought.
Still, Midnight tried to focus on her surroundings, willing herself to adjust. She needed to understand where she was and why she was here. She needed to make sense of this second chance, no matter how unsettling it felt.
As Midnight continued to walk, taking in the sights, she suddenly heard a voice call out to her, the voice being warm and welcoming. "Nemuri?"
Midnight, or Nemuri in this case, turned around and came face-to-face with an older man in a wheelchair, the one who had called her by her actual name. His presence seemed calm, composed—like someone who carried great wisdom. He wore a kind smile, one that almost immediately put her at ease, despite the confusion swirling in her mind. He was dressed in a suit, a sharp contrast to the casual atmosphere of the school. Introducing Professor Charles Xavier.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" Nemuri asked, unsure of how to respond.
Charles chuckled softly, a gentle sound. "I see that you're in your usual joking mood today, Nemuri." he replied, his gaze never wavering.
Nemuri blinked, but before she could respond, she noticed two figures standing beside him, just a few steps behind. They were both teenagers—roughly the same age as her former students—and then… she recognized something in their posture, their expressions.
Then it fully hit her, and her eyes would immediately widen.
"Nemuri, I would like to introduce you to some of the new students we're welcoming into the fold." Charles said, pausing for a moment, until he eventually continued.
"Their names are Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo."
