I know, I'm awful. I am soooooo sorry. I just lost interest in writing, but I've read all the reviews of my old stories, and now I'm back.
"Hey there Mahiru. You've grown bigger since the last time I saw you." Mahiru blushed, "You saw me yesterday."
Sakuya smiled, "Doesn't make it any less true." The blond haired boy let out a pout, "What about us?"
Mahiru wiggled in Sakuya's grip, letting the teen know it was time to put him down. Chuckling at the boy's antics, he obliged. Sakuya patted the blonds' head.
"You know I'm always happy to see you, Ryusei." The blond rolled his eyes, "Yeah, right." Before the other brown-hair could speak up, Sakuya spoke, "You as well, Koyuki." The gentle boy beamed. Ryusei turned back to Mahiru.
"We heard you had a new pet. I want to see him." Koyuki softly nodded in agreement. Mahiru nodded, "Okay." He turned around and walked towards his bed. He picked up the black kitten, ignoring the quiet mew of protest.
Hearing footsteps, he turned back, smiling at his friends' enthusiasm. "This is my new cat. His name is Kuro." Ryusei jumped up, "I want to hold him!" Mahiru held out Kuro toward the blond boy. Kuro basically flopped in the kid's arms.
"Heh. He has a cool hairstyle. It looks almost like a demons'." Kuro just let out a sigh, but remained limp. Koyuki placed a gentle hand on Kuro's head. "His fur is so soft." The kitten let out a purr at the ministrations.
A dark presence got close to the three boys, causing Kuro to cautiously open one ruby eye. He tensed when Sakuya's purple eyes briefly turned to blood red, but it happened so fast that Kuro figured he was imagining it. Still, it didn't stop him from jumping from Ryusei's arms to Mahiru's shoulder.
Mahiru looked at the kitten in concern, but didn't dare say anything.
Sakuya let out a gentle smile, "I heard about your uncle leaving for a while. How are you holding up?" Mahiru shrugged, pulling Kuro gently into his arms. The kitten cradled in his arms like a baby, he answered, "Pretty okay. Kuro is really helping me. I'm lucky to have him." Kuro looked at Mahiru intently, eyes solemn.
Sakuya nodded, accepting the answer. "Well, I was on my way shopping at the local district. Thinking about getting a few games, getting something to eat…I don't suppose you want to come along?"
Ryusei spoke up, "He already invited us. Come on Mahiru, it wouldn't be the same without you." Mahiru hesitated, "I don't know…"
"I already talked to your uncle. Besides, it's a Friday. We can get ice cream."
That was the magic word.
"Okay. Can I bring Kuro with me?" Sakuya smiled gently, "Why not?"
