Chapter 25- Callie

I wasn't sure what to expect when mom pulled up to the house "his car is here" she says softly. I don't say anything, nothing really needed to be said, she doesn't bother putting her car in the garage, we'd be leaving again anyway. I hear her take a deep breath, as I climb out, shutting the door behind me, I hear hers shut too. "Calliope, just be careful, I'm sure he's drunk"

"I'm not worried" I say, honestly, I was a little, but someone needed to put Carlos Torres in his place. We enter the house quietly, I hadn't been here in what feels like forever, but nothing had changed. I follow my mom into the kitchen, where we find him sitting at the table, a low-ball glass of some liquor in his hand. "where the hell were you" I know he's talking to mom, so I stay quiet, I wasn't even sure if he saw me yet.

"I went to see Calliope" her voice was firm, but I could hear the nervousness in it.

"why the hell did you do that?" I've never heard him be so harsh, especially when talking to mom.

"because I wanted to see my daughter"

"oh now she's your daughter" he finally looks up and sees me "and you brought her here" he finishes his drink in one gulp "why the hell are you here?"

"I wanted to see you" I say standing my ground

"I think we've said all we need to say to each other" he says looking at me, I can see in his eyes he's piss drunk, and pissed "get the fuck out of my house"

"not until we talk"

"Calliope" mom whispers, but I ignore her. I have never stood up to my father this way before, I hadn't needed to until now, he doesn't say anything "I know you hit mom"

"she deserved it"

"no" I shake my head and with courage I didn't know I had I step forward "no one deserves to be hit, I don't give a fuck if you're pissed off at the world, you do not hit anyone"

"those Robbins really did do a number on you"

"excuse me?"

"you would have never said that to me before"

"maybe I've grown" I say, he scoffs and moves to the counter where the bottle was, pouring some more into his glass "what is your problem with Daniel anyway"

"my problem with Daniel?" he asks, his words were slurring

"yes"

"my problem is" he throws the glass across the room, liquor flying out before it hits the wall and shatters. I see my mom shutter from the outburst "this is pointless" I roll my eye

"yes" he growls "get the fuck out of my house, you are no longer my daughter" I nod and turn towards my mom "go pack a bag, you're not staying here" she doesn't hesitate, and I watch her leave the room. Hoping she'd be quick, I wanted to get the fuck out of this house. With luck, mom was quick, she came back with a duffle bag, which I could tell was an old one of mine, and a wheelie suitcase. "let's go"

"that's right, leave, that's what you woman are good for anyway" was the last thing I heard before shutting the door. Once inside the car, my mom's bags tucked into the trunk she lets out a sob, I lean over hugging her as good as I could. "I'm alright" she says and starts the car, backing out of the driveway, I too can feel myself relax. Although I never got out of him what his problem with Daniel was, I guess it doesn't matter, if he's going to be like this Daniel is better off without him. "I should call Arizona" she doesn't say anything as I pull out my phone, pressing the house number, she never answers her cell. "hello" I hear Daniel's voice

"hi, can I speak to Arizona" I hear him mumble something then my heart almost leaps out of my chest when I hear her voice "hello"

"hi beautiful, I was just calling to say I'm on my way, did you guys need anything?"

"do we need anything?" she asks not into the phone "no we're good"

"ok, I'll be home shortly" my voice is soft

"ok"

"Arizona" I say getting her attention

"hmm"

"I love you" it came out in a whisper, but I know she heard me when I hear "I love you too" and the line goes dead. I smile, she loves me, she really loves me. I set my phone on my lap and look out the window as we drive. My mom's voice breaks the silence "are you sure it's ok I stay?"

"I'm sure" although I probably should have warned her, but I'm sure it'll be fine, I tell myself as we make the turn into the driveway, "just park over by my car" I tell her as she does what she's told. I get out, and make my way to the trunk, pulling out her bags. "Calliope"

"it's fine mom, come on" I say leading her to the house, finding everyone in the kitchen, remnants of two pizzas sitting in front of them. "hello" I say leaving mom's bags by the door. I hear a chorus of hellos. "so um" I hesitate a moment, taking a deep breath "would you guys mind if my mom stays with us for a bit?" I ask looking at Daniel, he looks around first at Alex, I see him shrug then at Arizona, who nods and stands "I'll get the guest room ready"

"please finish your dinner" mom says, Arizona nods and sits back down. I smiled and head to the cupboard and grab two plates, there wasn't much pizza left, I'm sure Alex ate most of it, but it's enough for mom and I. I set a plate down in front of the chair she was sitting in earlier, and go to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of water and a can of pop for myself. "how was shopping?" Daniel asks.

"good" I smile

"you didn't come in with any bags" Alex says.

"they're still in the car" my mom says, I look at her, she winks. I couldn't help but smile, this was the relationship I had always wanted with her.
