Chapter Thirteen

Daphne was disappointed that John couldn't agree to move in with her, and she doubted it had anything to do with money. She wondered if it was her and if he was serious about committing. They were making small talk, but John knew something was wrong.

"What's on your mind, honey?" John asked.

Daphne was surprised that he had asked that question as she thought she had hidden there was something wrong.

"There's nothing wrong," Daphne lied.

"Yeah, and the sky isn't blue," John replied sarcastically. "Come on, out with it,"

Daphne sighed as she didn't want to lie to him.

"I'm disappointed you don't want to move in with me," she said.

John reached forward and held her hands.

"I know you are," John said. "And I'm going to be honest. I'm scared to do that because it's one hell of a step to take,"

"But sex isn't?" Daphne asked. "Think about all the positions we've explored,"

John knew she had a point, and he was about to argue it, but then he saw someone across the courtyard he didn't want to see: His father and his eyes widened with fear. Naturally, Daphne noticed and became concerned.

"Honey, what is it?" she asked.

John let go of her hands immediately as he saw the man in the distance walking away.

"There's some creepy guy that's been staring at us, but he's going away now," he said.

Daphne turned around and looked into the distance, but many people were in the courtyard, and it was impossible to tell who John was talking about. Then she looked back at John.

"Do you know who it was?" Daphne asked.

"No, I have no idea," John lied quickly. "But I think we should get to class. Don't you think?"

Daphne had no idea what to think as she thought they were having a good week, but the week's events were proving very strange, and she had no idea what to make of them.

Before he even met Carolyn for lunch, Fred knew their relationship was over. But he was determined that he wouldn't let it end with a whimper and wouldn't end it with a bang. Fred was determined to see if their relationship could be saved and continue. As he walked towards the university restaurant, Carolyn was waiting outside, not inside, seated at a table. As she walked towards him, Fred knew it was more than just a bad sign.

"Fred, don't even bother going into the restaurant," Carolyn said. "Don't even bother to tell me that you're sorry, although I'm sure that you are, please don't bother saying it,"

"Then what do you want me to say?" Fred asked, getting frustrated.

Carolyn could understand Fred's frustration but knew she had to be the bad guy.

"There's nothing you can say," Carolyn said honestly. "In fact, I should have said this last night. When it comes to relationships, I don't get involved with people who aren't totally over their ex,"

"Daphne and I broke up over a year ago," Fred said.

Carolyn sighed, a little frustrated.

"It doesn't matter how long ago it was because you're clearly still in love with Daphne," she said. "So, do yourself a favor and deal with it and then go back to dating because until then, you're not worth anyone's time,"

Without saying another word, Carolyn walked away from him. As Fred watched her walk away, he couldn't believe what she said, but he knew she was right.

A week later, Daphne didn't want to think about the man staring at them. All she wanted to think about was her time with John. They were in John's dorm room that night and in the throes of passion. Both of them were naked, and Daphne was on top as she straddled him. John was fondling her breasts as they thrust in time. Daphne loved the way his hands felt on her breasts.

"I love you!" John shouted quickly between thrusts.

"I love you, too!" Daphne shouted quickly between thrusts.

Unexpectedly, John thrusted deeper inside her. Daphne gasped at the sensation. Hearing her gasp like that made John smile, as he hadn't expected her to. Daphne reached down and grabbed his shoulders.

"Please don't stop!" Daphne gasped. "Please don't stop! I love you!"

"I love you, too!" John gasped.

Daphne couldn't have been happier with the sex she was having with John. He was deep inside her and harder than she had ever felt him. But something unexpected would ruin the night for both of them.

"Oh God, Fred!" Daphne shouted.

That was the last thing John wanted to hear, and he thrust harder out of jealousy.

"That's not my name!" John shouted.

Daphne felt so guilty for not calling out his name, and she kept on thrusting.

"I'm sorry," Daphne gasped.

"Say my name!" John shouted.

"John!" Daphne gasped. "I'm sorry, John!"

John didn't say a word, and he kept on thrusting, and he gripped Daphne's breasts tighter. Daphne was very close to climaxing.

"Jeepers!" Daphne shouted as she climaxed.

"Oh God!" John shouted.

Daphne collapsed on John, satisfied, but John was far from satisfied. He began to push her off.

"Get off me!" he whispered, angry.

Daphne fell on the left side of the bed, and she couldn't believe how much she had hurt John.

"John, I'm so sorry," she said.

"Why did you call out his name?" John asked. "I thought you were over that guy,"

Daphne did her best not to cry at that moment.

"I am over him," she said.

"Then why did you call out his name?" John said. "Do you two share a secret from the past that you can't get over?"

Hearing that question broke Daphne's heart because John had no idea how accurate his question was. Being a university student and a secret mother wasn't easy, and she needed some happiness. John knowing that she had a son would ruin that, and she felt guilty that she felt that way.

"Fred was my first true love," Daphne said.

"And what am I?" John said. "A rebound guy?"

Daphne wrapped her arm around him.

"You're someone I love, and I'm so sorry I didn't call out your name," she said.

Daphne leaned in and kissed him. John kissed her back, but he couldn't help but be curious about her past.

A few days later, John rode his bike through the Dan Ryan Woods late afternoon for exercise. Daphne would have gone with him, but she had three assignments due that she couldn't get out of finishing. As he rode his bike, he heard something behind him. Then, it drove by and parked in front of him: A black van. To his horror, his father got out and walked before him: The Warden of Coolsville Prison. John looked behind him, but two more black vans pulled up: One beside them and one behind them. There was no way for John to escape. The Warden opened the back door of the van he was travelling in. Two men in their early forties had guns pointed at John.

"Get in the fucking van!" the Warden said, coldly.

Shaking uncontrollably, John got off his bike and climbed into the van. The Warden picked up John's bike and threw it into the van, nearly hitting John. Then, the Warden closed the back doors of the van. John couldn't believe what was happening, so the Warden entered the van's front. Once the Warden closed the door, he looked at John directly.

"I told you to keep an eye on Daphne," the Warden said. "Nothing more than that. Now, why did you disobey me?"

"I-I-I fell in love with her," John said, terrified. "I-I-I couldn't help it,"

"SHE WASN'T YOURS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH!" the Warden yelled.

John came very close to wetting himself; he was so terrified.

"I-I-I'm sorry, Dad, but I love her," John said. "A-A-And she loves me too,"

"NO, SHE FUCKING DOESN'T!" the Warden yelled. "SHE IS GOING TO BE MINE! SHE WILL NEVER BE YOURS!"

John had never seen his father like that, and he couldn't believe he had become so insane. Apparently, the Warden was a lost cause, but John hoped he could somehow reason with him.

"C-C-Can't you just be happy for me that I met someone?" John asked. "D-D-Don't you know how hard it's been for me to meet someone? C-C-Can't you just let Daphne go and see if you can meet someone else?"

For the Warden, it was hard enough to believe that his son was fucking the woman he loved, but after hearing that suggestion, it was the ultimate betrayal that he couldn't forgive.

"How dare you say that to me, you little shit!" the Warden said coldly. "How fucking dare you! Well, you know what? I can't let Daphne go because she is the perfect woman, and you don't deserve her!"

"Then what do I deserve?" John asked without thinking.

The Warden reached over and punched his son hard, and John fell on the floor.

"We're going to take you back to Coolsville, and we're going to take you into the woods," the Warden said. "Once you're in the woods, you will be dealt with for betraying me,"

John began to cry uncontrollably.

"Please, Dad, no!" he cried. "I'm sorry!"

"It's too late for sorry," the Warden replied.

John cried as they drove away because he knew what being taken to the woods meant. Being dealt with meant that he was going to be murdered by his father, and there was nothing he could do about it.
