Happy BeEarth Day
Note: I changed Tom's birthday present to Ayla in "Birthday Surprise".
(Third-Person POV)
It was the middle of the night in the Wachowski house. Everyone was sound asleep. Even Ayla in her basement bedroom with Ozzy sleeping at her feet. She looked peaceful. Smiling on her sleep as she began to dream*
(Dream - Third-Person POV)
*A pair of hands were strumming on a guitar, playing a song(Live and Learn). Then a pair of hands, one human, the other like Ayla's, held on to each in a field of flowers under the light of a full moon*
(Reality)
Ayla's face scrunched up & her body twitched as her dream turned into a nightmare*
(Dream
*Two pairs of feet were running as sirens blared. One was a human girl with long blonde hair & the other looked like a hedgehog. Neither of them showed their faces. Soldiers boots were chasing them. Just then, the hedgehog hand let go of the girl's hand. Then a gun was held up & there was a "bang!" followed by a flash*
?*off-screen* MARIA!
(Ayla's POV)
I woke up with a scream. I panted as I looked around my basement bedroom. I sighed in relief. It was just a dream*
Synergy*off-screen* Ayla? *I turned to the shelf behind me, where my holographic wristwatch was charging. a mini hologram of Synergy (look up "Synergy" on "Jem Wiki") appeared out of it*on-screen* Are you alright? You seem distressed.
Ayla: I'm fine, Synergy. I just *pant* had a nightmare.
Synergy: Do you want me to get Tom and Maddie?
I made holographic wristwatches for everyone. Even Knuckles, though it took me a week to teach him how to use it*
Ayla: No, no! It's fine. I'm fine. I'm going back to sleep.
Synergy: As you wish.
She disappeared. I turned to Ozzy, who had also woken up & he licked my face
Ayla*giggle* I'm okay, Ozzy, really.
He & I went back to sleep*
(The next day)
It's been a few months since I met Synergy. Today, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, & I were about to have a little fun. All three of us got into running positions. Just then, my brother, Sonic, came up wearing sunglasses, a tube in the shape of a duck, pink flippers, & holding a chili dog*
Ayla: Uh . . . Sonic. You know we're not going swimming, right?
Sonic: Wait a second. I thought we were going tubing. *he pulled down his sunglasses & took a bit of his chili dog* Hold on, hold on. Is this a race?
Ayla: Uh, yes. And I'm gonna kick all three of your butts!
Tails: You're going down!
Knuckles: It is my destiny to claim the throne of family champion, hedgehog.
Sonic: Ha-ha, cute. Are you sure you want to challenge the fastest creature in the universe? I mean, it's kinda my brand. *he spun like a tornado, taking off the sunglasses, tube, flippers, & finishing his chili dog* Okay, Tom and Maddie! Count us down!
Tom & Maddie stood in front of us. Maddie was holding a green flag*
Tom: Alright. Don't worry. Little sibling rivalry is healthy. My brothers used to do this kind of thing all the time.
Maddie: Tom, your brothers are lunatics, and neither of them are born with the power to trigger a global cataclysmic event. So . . .
Tom: It's a fair point. You hear that, guys. No cataclysmic events, okay. Let's keep this cataclysmic less.
Ayla: No promises.
Sonic: Head start!
Tails: Got it!
Knuckles: Understood, Lord of Donuts.
Maddie: Then on your marks . . . *she held up her green flag* Get set . . . *she waved the flag* Go!
All four of us took off. Sonic running & me on my hoverboard*
Sonic: And way out in front, to the surprise of absolutely no one, it's the Blue Blur. The Red-Shoed Rocket. The one, the only -
Ayla: Hedgehog who likes to monologue!
He saw that I was next to him*
Sonic: Ha-ha, very funny, sis. But you're still gonna eat my dust. Along with -
Tails*off-screen* Come on, guys! *we looked up & saw him, flying with his tails & a hover pack*on-screen* Catch up! Yeah!
He went ahead*
Sonic: When the what now -
Ayla: How did he -
Knuckles: I am also defeating you, hedgehogs!
*He was in front of us*
Sonic: Seriously?
Ayla: When did he -
Sonic: You know what, time to light the afterburners!
Ayla: Right!
*I pressed a button on my hoverboard & a pair of mini rockets came out. They helped me stayed next to Sonic as we passed them. Going up a fallen tree like ramp & sailing high into the air*
Sonic: It's a bird! It's a plane! It's air hedgehogs!
*Sonic curled up a like a ball & went through branches shaped like a basketball hoop & I did tricks on my hoverboard over rocks & trees. We stayed neck-in-neck as as we both touch the sign that said "Goal"*
Sonic: Alright! I won!
Ayla: No! I won!
Sonic: Oh, please. I got here literally 10 seconds before you did!
Ayla: Nuh-uh!
Sonic: Uh-huh! It's inevitable, baby sis. I - *we turned & saw Tails & Knuckles standing a few feet away from us, tapping their feet* LOST!? How is that even possible!? I do lose!
Ayla: Wait, when did you guys -
Knuckles: I am also defeating you, hedgehogs!
*Now I was confused. We literally just heard him say that a while ago, in that exact tone*
Sonic: Okay, okay, we get it, man. Don't rub it in.
Tails: Come on, guys! Catch up! Yeah!
Ayla: Uh, Sonic. I don't think that's really Tails and Knuckles.
*He didn't seem to hear me as he poked Tails in the nose, creating ripples in his face. I waved a hand in front of Knuckles & he didn't blink*
Sonic: Ahh! Why are you guys acting like - *we looked up & saw two orange balls floating above them, projecting their images* Holograms!
I got out my wristwatch*
Ayla: Synergy, is this your doing?
Synergy:
Sonic: Which means . . . I'm the undefeated speed champion of all time! Yeah!
Ayla: Yay. Congratulations. But seriously, what's going on ?
We made our way back to camp, where everyone was waiting for us. Just they turned to us & . . .*
SURPRISE!
Sonic's & my eyes went wide. Above them was a big banner that said "Happy BeEarth Day". There also presents everywhere*
Ayla: Wow!
Sonic: Wait a sec! You guys, what's all this? *he looked up at the banner* Happy . . . Be Arthur Day?
Maddie: No! It'sHappy BeEarth Day.
Tom: Today's the anniversary of the day you two came to Earth, buds. It's your Earth Day birthday.
Sonic: So the race was distraction, which I totally didn't fall for by the way. Good try, though.
I rolled my eyes*
Ayla: Uh-huh. Sure.
Sonic: So you could throw this party for us?
Knuckles: Today, we honor you, hedgehogs.
Tails: If it wasn't for you two, none of us would be here right now.
Tom: The boys are right, buds. You know, the day you two came to this planet is the day all of our lives changed forever.
Maddie: And we became family.
Ozzy: You two stole my hoomans.
Ayla: Aw, thanks guys. That really means a lot.
Sonic: I don't . . . Don't know what to say except . . . *he jumped up into the air* Let's party!
I jumped with him*
Ayla: Yeah!
Tom: Alright!
Maddie: Yeah! Let's do it!
Sonic: Yeah!
Knuckles: It's now on! Til the break of dawn!
And the Wachowski family birthday party began*
A lot while later, Tom, Sonic, & I were walking away from the campsite. Tom was throwing a football in the air & catching it*
Sonic: Thanks for the surprise party.
Ayla: Yeah. It really means a lot to us.
Tom: Yeah, you guys deserve it.
Sonic & I looked ahead & noticed something. Something we haven't seen for a long time*
Sonic: No way
Ayla: Is that . . .
Sonic took off running*
Tom: What? Dude. Just for once, walk it nicely?
Ayla: Hey, I'm still here, aren't I?
Tom: Yes, yes you are. Thanks for that, sweetie. *he & I followed Sonic until we climbed down a hole & landed in a very familiar place* Whoa! Sonic, Ayla, is this . . .
Sonic: Yep. Our old cave.
Ayla: Just as we left it.
Tom: I can't believe this is where you lived all those years.
Sonic noticed his nunchucks on a table*
Sonic: Hey! Our state-of-the-art security system! *he swung them around until he hit himself in the head, like always* Still works.
I rolled my eyes. My brother was never good with those things. I don't even remember where he got them*
Tom: Hey, guys. What's this?
He pulled back some moss to reveal a drawing of me, Sonic, & Longclaw, sitting on top of the loop-de-loop back on our old world*
Ayla: Wow! We drew that out first night here, remember?
Sonic: Yeah. We wanted to remember where we came from.
He & I both looked sad*
Ayla: We still miss her.
Sonic: Yeah . . . *Tom looked concerned at our sad faces* Do you think Longclaw would have been proud of us?
Tom smiled at us*
Tom: I know she would, pal. Even though you lost her at a young age, you didn't let your pain change who you are. I'm here.
He pointed to the middle of Sonic's chest*
Sonic: Yeah. In my lungs.
I let out a snort*
Ayla: No, dum-dum. He means your heart.
Tom: That's right. And yours too, Ayla.
Sonic: Heart. Right. Yeah, makes more sense. Not lungs, heart.
Tom: That's the thing about life, guys. It's all about the choices we make. You're gonna make good ones and . . . *he paused & looked at Sonic, knowingly* knowing you, you're gonna make some bad ones. *I giggled & Sonic punched me in the arm for that* But remember, listen to your heart, and you're gonna make the right choice that matters most.
Sonic: Thanks. I don't know what we'd do without you.
Ayla: Yeah. We'd probably be two totally different hedgehogs.
That night, the whole family was gathered around a campfire, roasting marshmallows. Though, Knuckles was having trouble with his as it caught fire & burnt black*
Knuckles: I have dishonored my marshmallow!
Tails: It's really just a question of temperature distance.
He used a flare on his*
Maddie: It's not a competition.
Ayla: There's a trick to it, Knux. Let me show you. *I put a new marshmallow on his stick & handed it to him* Just hold it slightly above the flames and watch for it to turn golden brown. Once you think it looks right, just rotate it.
He tried it, & it worked. Once it was perfect to him, he ate it*
Knuckles: Hmm. Delicious. Thank you, Ayla.
He went for another marshmallow*
Ayla: No problem. And now everyone's got a toasted marshmallow, I have a surprise for all of you. *I pulled out the guitar Tom gave me for my birthday a few months ago* A song that I wrote just for my favorite people.
*Ayla singing*

Just then, Ozzy shot his head up & started barking. We looked up & a spotlight shined down on us, making us cover our eyes as a strong wing blew around us. Then a G.U.N. helicopter came down towards us*
Sonic: Hey! We're trying to have a family moment here!
Ayla: Rude, much!
The helicopter landed & soldiers came out*
Maddie: What did we do?
Tom: What did they do?
He pointed at the four of us*
Tails*to Sonic* What did you do?
Sonic: I don't know. I do a lot of stuff.
Ayla: Something tells this is something entirely different.
A lady wearing sunglasses & a uniform stepped out of the helicopter
Director Rockwell: Mr and Mrs. Wachowski. *she took off her sunglasses as she turned to me, Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles* Aliens.
I didn't like they wat she was looking at us, like we were something disgusting*
Sonic: Aliens!? Excuse me!? It's not like we're from another planet! Oh, yeah, we are. I guess we are aliens. Please continue.
Director Rockwell: I'm Director Rockwell. There is a dangerous situation unfolding in Tokyo. *we all looked at each other in concern* Commander Walters is requesting Team Sonic's . . . Immediate assistance.
Knuckles: Team Sonic? Who picked that name?
Sonic: Love it! Ten out of ten! No notes! *he turned to Tom and Maddie* Tom, Maddie, put the s'mores on ice because Team Sonic is off to save the day!
I rolled my eyes. What an ego. I didn't really trust Walters after what he put us through during Rachel's wedding, but if he's sending soldiers & a helicopter to get us, it must be serious*
Ayla: Come on. We might as well check it out.
All four of us got in the helicopter*
Maddie: Remember! Make! Good! Choices!
Ozzy waved his paw at us as the helicopter took off. Which I thought was totally adorable*
