*POV BELLA*
The rest of Christmas/New Year's break went by rapidly. We spent most of our time bouncing between her house, my house and the Res. Sneaking away for some alone time here and there. Word about our engagement spread quickly through the Res. I'm sure because of Leah's and Jake's big mouth. I knew once school started, questions would be asked about the ring. You don't see many high schoolers walking around with a ring on their ring finger. I told her I didn't care who knew. I would gladly shout it from all the mountain tops. Buy a plane to fly all over with a banner. Pay for commercials to run on TV… But we settled that just Forks and the Res knowing for right now was enough. Rosalie and Esme started preparations for the wedding, everything they came up with would have to be ran by us. Leaving us with the final decision. One thing we agreed on right now, was having the wedding this summer. Before we all went off to college.
I woke up Monday morning and quickly get ready. Eager to see and kiss Alice. She and the others had to go hunting last night. Making sure their hunger was in check before being around so many humans again. I smelt the coffee and bacon before I could even open my room door. Snatching my bookbag, I rush down the stairs two at a time.
Charlie: morning Bells! Sit down, I made coffee, bacon and waffles.
Bella: thanks dad. You were out late last night…
Charlie: I went to help Sue with some things around her house. Got back around 12ish.
Bella: 12ish huh?
Charlie: don't start.
I chuckle as I stack my plate with waffles.
Alice: I'll meet you at school. We just got back, and I need to shower to get rid of the animal smell.
Bella: I can't wait to kiss you!
Alice: ditto!
Charlie: I remember when your mom had a smile that big. I'm so happy for you kid. If I was to die tomorrow, I would die happy, knowing I did my job.
Bella: hey, hey don't talk about dying old man. You still have a monkey suit to wear this summer.
Charlie: ugh, don't remind me please. Hey, I have an idea! What about a beach wedding? Monkey suits are too hot for those.
I laugh knowing he hates having to wear suits. Mom was the only one to ever het him to act right about them.
Bella: we'll see. I have to get to school though, I'll see you later.
Grabbing a waffle, I head out to my car. Throwing my bag into the seat and speeding off to school. Ready to see and kiss my fiancé. My fiancé, I think she'll be my wife before I get use to calling her that. And then awhile before I get use to calling her my wife. As I park into a space, I start feeling the tingles I feel when Alice is around. I smile as I get out the car and instantly get slammed with her body. I laugh and kiss her deeply before setting her down.
Bella: I missed you too. Come on, we got to get to class.
I grab her hand, and we head to her classroom, kissing her once more before letting go of her hand and heading to my own. The morning goes by quickly, I speed walk to put my stuff in my locker and get to lunch. As I turn the corner, I see Alice and Edward sitting with Jess, Angela and the others. They're admiring her ring. Jess pulls Alice into a hug while Angela gives me one. Mike and Tyler giving me fist bump. Cracking jokes about not being with anyone else for the rest of my life. I take my seat as Rosalie and Emmett join us. Emmett sliding a tray to me. While all the girls start talking about the wedding. I eat my lunch with one hand and hold Alice's in the other. The guys put in their 2 cents here and there. When lunch ends, we head to study hall. I sigh at the thought of having to spend another hour feeling Lauren's eyes burning into my head every 5 minutes. Luckily when we walk in, she isn't there. As we head to our table, a few people congratulate us. The word getting out quickly. We just say thanks and take our seats. Amanda, one of the girls from Edward's last period, turns and gushes over the ring and how happy she is for us.
Lauren: what are we celebrating?
I feel myself stiffen at the conversation that's about to occur.
Edward: Alice and Bella got engaged on Christmas.
Surprise coats her face at the news. Her eyes fall on Alice's ring, and I know she recognizes it.
Lauren: your mother's ring.
Alice: yep! It's beautiful right?
Alice raises her hand to give Lauren a closer look. Lauren steps back looking between Alice and me.
Lauren: it very much is… aren't you guys a little too young?
Edward: they're both 18, don't see it being any different from when you got married.
Lauren: and now I'm divorced. As they say, learn from my mistakes so you don't repeat them.
I feel the irritation making my blood to boil. Everyone in the room now looking at us.
Bella: Alice and I both love each other. We're not marrying for ANYTHING ELSE besides that.
I know I went a little too far as sadness coats her face. Her business was not mine to tell and I'm sure I just caused everyone to question what I mean. She cuts her eyes at me before turning and going to her desk. Alice slides her hand into mine, giving me a small tug and placing my book in front of me. I give her a quick kiss on her cheek and start reading. I don't feel Lauren's eyes at all. When the bell rings, we all get our stuff and start walking out. She quickly walks out in front of us. We do not bother going to our lockers. The others will be waiting for us in the parking lot.
Rosalie: I've already sliced her tires.
Edward: Rose…
Rosalie: she deserves it.
Edward: she's going to think it was Alice or Bella.
Rosalie: you guys were in her class, there's no way.
Edward: she already thinking of ways to come in between them. I'm sure this is going to add fuel to the fire. She still has some of your letters Bella.
Alice: she can bring it.
I sigh and get into the car. Alice is staring after me while the others share a look and walk to Edward's car. She gets into my car and doesn't say anything as I start driving. I roll down the window and though it's freezing, the cold air fills my lungs and relaxes me. I see her reach for my hand but quickly pulls back. I grab her hand before she can put it back on her lap. Giving her a small smile and turn back to the road. I pull up to the beach and turn towards her.
Alice: you're feeling a million different things right now.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. We've somehow been more in tune with each other's feelings since our first time.
Bella: I just… first it was Jasper and now Lauren. I just want people to leave us alone.
Alice: just like with Jasper, we'll be ok. Besides, there isn't anything she can do.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
Bella: I gave her a ring…. No, no, not my mom's ring! It was a different ring, like a promise ring. We had talked about plans after my graduation. And I gave her a ring.
She doesn't say anything, but I can see hurt in her eyes. The venom pooling but not falling.
Bella: I had to tell you before she tried throwing it in your face. I didn't want to see the same hurt I'm looking at now.
She peacefully gets out the car and goes to sit on the hood. I give her a second before I get out and join her. I stand next to her, willing her to look at me.
Alice: thank you for telling me. It does hurt to think about you giving her a ring, but I can understand. You had a whole life before me. I would be a hypocrite to be mad at something I had too. Is there anything else?
I quickly scan my mind, thinking about anything with anyone. She turns ready to walk away. I grab her hand and gently pull her back to me.
Bella: no that's all. If and I do mean IF, I think about anything. You'll be the first to know.
Alice: ok… come on, let's go for a walk. The beach looks beautiful.
She gives me a quick kiss on the lips and dashes to the beach. I phase mid-run, chasing after her.
*POV ALICE*
Everyone is happy for us, even Victoria came over and said congratulations when the news got out to her. It was surprising when she told us that she wouldn't be staying around for long. Possibly leaving in a month. She stated the small-town life wasn't for her and wants to continue traveling the world. Hoping to one day find the right place for her to call home. We were all understanding, and she kept to herself around town so it wouldn't be a big deal. Bella invited her to come back for the wedding and she said she would gladly return. Rose and Esme currently had their hands full with planning Paul's and Leah's wedding. A wedding gift they said. After going back and forth with them about it, Paul and Leah finally agreed. Only if Rose and Esme promised to let them split the expenses. I already saw that they would lie to them about the full cost. And Rose decided to put any funds they gave, into a savings account for their kids. My gift was making Leah's wedding dress, which her indecisiveness was making difficult. I'm hoping 3rd time is the charm, Bella suggested taking the dress to her this time. Saving me from possibly murdering her, if she gives me another "I don't know". There's only 2 weeks left before the wedding and I still need to go shopping for Bella's and mine's outfit.
As I'm pinning up Rose's dress to make her adjustments, I get the vision that Leah finally said yes.
Alice: YES!
Rose: what happen?
Bella: I'm sure you already saw but she said it's perfect. And to tell you a million thanks. I'm going to hang out here for a bit and then to dinner with Charlie. It's been awhile since I spent some real time with him. I'll be over later?
Alice: I did. Tell her, it's my pleasure. Ok love, I'll be waiting.
Alice: Leah finally said yes.
Rose: that's great. I doubt Esme would be ok with you breaking another table.
Alice: yeah, I still have to replace the last one. Bella's having dinner with Charlie, want to go to the mall with me?
Rose: let's go, I need more clothes.
I quickly finish the fitting and tell Rose to leave it on my table, while I go change. Rose decides to drive her BMW, and I don't mind. Something has been bugging me, but I don't know what. I've been opening my mind to any and every vision but have gotten nothing out the regular.
Rose: Alice? Alice!
Alice: sorry! Sorry!
Rose: are you ok?
Alice: I just got lost in my head.
Rose: ok, what's on your mind?
Alice: I don't know, I just have this feeling. And before you ask me what feeling, I don't know. I just feel off. Like I'm missing something.
Rose: have you talked to Bella about it?
Alice: no, things are somewhat ok right now. We finally have some peace. I mean besides Lauren's behavior at school. Things are good. Bella is sleeping better and that's all that matters. I'll figure it out… Eventually. I'll tell Bella when I know more. Please try to keep it from Edward, he'll tell Jake and Jake will tell Bella.
Rose: I think you should tell her. I know we've been on alert a lot this year but if this is something, we all need to know.
I don't say anything, I sit in my thoughts for the rest of the way. Everything is forgotten when we get to the mall. For the next 2 hours, we go store to store and end up with so many bags we fill the trunk and back seat. I lucked up and found my maid of honor dress. Bella stated she didn't care what she wore, she just wanted to look good. I was able to find her a suit that would match my dress. Rose finding something for her and Emmett. On our way back, I get pulled into a vision.
*Bella is leaving the dinner and Lauren pulls up. Her and a friend get out the car. She tells her friend to wait a minute and walks over to Bella.
Lauren: Bella can I talk to you for a sec?
Bella: Lauren, I don't have time for this. I'm going to meet Alice.
Lauren: please Bella.
I see Bella's thinking face before she leans on her car. Not saying anything, just looking at Lauren.
Lauren: I know all of this is my fault. And I know there's nothing I can say or do that would make you forgive me. But I've really missed you. We use to say that no matter what, we'd always come back to each other. That at least we'll be there for each other. And we'll at least be friends. I just have to ask; can we go to dinner? I just want to talk.
Bella: Lauren, I'm with Alice. I'm happy with Alice. She's it for me. You have to learn to accept that.
Lauren steps closer to Bella, placing a hand on her face.
Lauren: I'll never accept that.
She kisses her. Bella doesn't move. She doesn't push her away.*
I pull myself out of the vision.
Rose: Alice what is it?
Alice: she kissed her.
Rose: who kissed who?
I try to hold back the tears that have formed in my eyes but fail when I replay the vision over in my head.
Alice: Lauren kissed Bella and Bella let her.
Rose doesn't say anything, she just steps on the gas and takes us back to Forks.
DAMN BELLA... AND DAMN LAUREN...
