It had been a week since they defeated Tartarus and the dragon slayers lost their dragons. The Fairy Tail guild hall was still a pile of rubble but the construction plans were already in process.
Mirajane stood with her guild members, providing them with ideas and plans on reconstruction. She would rather have Master oversee this kind of matter but he was looking more and more aged than before. Like something heavy was weighing on his chest. Maybe he was worried about Laxus who still hadn't woken up yet despite the antidote he was given by Moss Porliyusica.
Her heart sank when she thought of Laxus who was still unconscious in his hospital bed. She wanted to be by his side but the Master had given her this task. She was somewhat relieved to know that the Thunder Legion was by his side, they all cared for him more than anything.
It was well into the afternoon when the news came. Laxus was finally awake. The shouts of cheers and joys filled the site as they all heaved a sigh of relief. Mirajane had completely forgotten how to breathe and she sank to the ground as her legs gave out from pure relief.
"Big sis! Are you alright?" Elfman came to her side and looked at her with concern but she only smiled at him through tearful eyes.
"I am fine, Elfman. I am just so happy that Laxus is awake." She didn't wipe away the tears that flowed down her cheeks. "I thought I was never going to see him again or talk to him... Or listen to his voice."
Her voice broke as she finished. Elfman could only watch his sister with concern and confusion because he couldn't understand her reaction.
Sure, Mirajane was always worried about everyone in the guild but this reaction for Laxus highly indicated that something... He didn't want to finish the thought.
Mira wiped her tears and stood up. She shoved the papers that she was clutching in his hands and without saying anything, she ran out in the direction of the hospital.
Laxus was enjoying his time outside his hospital room as he took in the fresh air in the garden. He was not cleared by the doctors and Miss Porlyusica to go back and they said he needed rest. But he couldn't stand another minute cooped up inside that room.
So here he was out in the gardens of the Magnolia Hospital while his team yelled out to him in concern to go back inside and rest. He ignored them. He looked up at the sky as the clouds lazily moved along the wind.
Man, he wanted to get out of here and go see Mira. He missed her, he didn't know how long they hadn't seen each other. He still remembered the conversation they had that morning. He regretted it, he wanted everything to go back to how it was. He shouldn't have asked her something like that when he clearly had his doubts that Mira might not be ready to move forward in their relationship.
He wanted to go and apologize to her and say that it didn't matter that no one knew of their relationship. All that mattered was that they'd be together. He only wanted her, that's all.
"You should get back inside, Laxus! You might catch a cold!" Said Freed with a determined face and firm tone.
"He's right! You need to rest," Evergreen joined in and tried to get Laxus inside but he continued to ignore them. Bickslow also echoed his teammates' concerns.
"Laxus!" A voice he knew very well and loved the most, came from across the field. He turned around in surprise and found Mirajane, huffing and panting. She must have run here. She caught her breath and looked at him with tears in her eyes. His teammates had grown quiet now and were looking at Mira with surprise and confusion.
"Mira..." Laxus whispered her name and he couldn't stop the smile that came onto his face. Mirajane ran up to him and flung her arms around his neck. He didn't waste a second and engulfed her into a tight hug. Her body shook with silent sobs as she held onto him tightly, whispering something like 'I am sorry.'
They broke apart and Laxus cuped her cheek as he wiped away her tears. "What are you saying?"
"I-I thought I'd never see you again! I thought I was going to lose you forever! I am so sorry about how we left things between us. I am so so-"
She was crying and rambling but Laxus cut her off, "You have nothing to apologize about! I am one the who should be sorry. It doesn't matter, Mira. All I want is to be with you."
Mira shook her head gently, as she looked into his eyes, he could see the love and admiration she had for him. Laxus' heart swelled up in happiness. "Me too! I feel the same. So it does matter Laxus! I want everyone to know how much I want to be with you. I don't care what other people think or what their opinions might be! All I want is you."
Laxus looked at her in awe, "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes!" Mira said with absolute certainty. But her face fell as she looked down, "When I saw you lying unconscious in the infirmary that day, it broke my heart. You were so much in pain and I couldn't do anything. All I kept thinking was that I didn't tell you how truly felt."
She looked up at him as she smiled through her tears, "I love you, Laxus. I love you so much!"
"I love you too, Mira. With all my heart."
Laxus pressed his lips against hers and gave her a deep kiss, pouring out his love, adoration, passion and desire. There moment was broken by three loud screeches.
"WHAT!!?" Freed, Bickslow and Evergreen simultaneously yelled out, finally recovering from their shock.
"What's happening? You and Mirajane..." Evergreen had light blush on her cheeks as she pointed between them.
"This is news! I can't believe it!" Bickslow had a huge grin on his face.
"What is the meaning of this, Laxus?" Freed had a flushed expression on his face and looked a bit betrayed.
Laxus had completely forgotten about them. He flushed when he realized that thye had just kissed and confessed in front of his team. He cleared his throat and rested a hand on Mirajane's waist as Mira smiled at them with a blush on her cheeks.
"We are together as you can see." Laxus provided.
Mira let out a soft laugh as she intertwined their hands together, "We love each other!"
The whole guild was surprised but happy when the news of their relationship broke out. Elfman and Lisanna took the news better than she expected as they both congratulated her and Laxus. Mira could clearly see that Elfman wanted to give a 'make my sister cry and I'll kill you' talk to Laxus but was too terrified of him to actually go through with it. However, Lisanna didn't hesitate to give a few warnings to Laxus and Mira couldn't help but giggle at her boyfriend's expression.
Laxus' team was also happy for them except Freed. However, he begrudgingly gave his blessings with a small, 'I am happy for you too.'
Lucy and Levy were a giddy mess when they saw the couple together and couldn't contain their blushings as they cheered for them. Juvia was looking at them with jealousy but Mira knew the water mage was also happy for them. The blue haired mage kept mumbling when she and Gray be like that.
Erza, however, was a bit difficult to handle. She wanted every detail; how and when they started to like each other, when they actually started to going out; how far they'd gone in their relationship. Mira patiently answered her questions except the last one. She couldn't being herself to share that detail with anyone and of course Erza was only doing that to tease her.
But Laxus came to her side and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, bringing her closer to him. He smirked at Erza, mischief dancing in his eyes as he addressed her, "What do you think, Erza? It's been 7 months since we started dating, of course we have done things."
Erza blushed at his statement and hot flustered, "W-what?"
It seemed Erza had not expected Laxus of all people to admit that.
"You asked. I answered. You want details too?"
Erza vigorously shook her head, her entire face was red now and ran away before saying, "N-no! No need!"
Mirajane was laughing at this point. Erza's reaction was hilarious but also that's how she had expected. Her attention went to Gajeel who was looking at them with a smirk. He came to them and with a haughty tone said, "I already knew what was going on between you two. You weren't fooling me!"
Mira was taken aback for a moment, "You knew?"
His smirk widened and he pointed to his ears, "A dragon slayer's hearing is sharp."
"Oh right! I completely forgot about that." Mira let out a soft laugh. What about the other dragon alayers. "But then, do Natsu and Wendy also know?"
Gajeel shrugged hos shoulders, "They clearly must have heard something but I doubt they understood what was going on. One is too stupid to comprehend and the other, too young."
The next couple of days went by rather quickly. They were currently standing among the rubble of their guild hall, as Master Makarov had asked them to gather around for an important announcement. The old master stood on a makeshift stage made out of a pile of rubble.
He had a serious expression on his face and he looked them in the eye as he told them that he was disbanding the Fairy Tail guild. Everyone was shocked and hurt and confused. A million emotions ran through Mirajane's face as she tried to make sense of the situation.
In the chaos that erupted after Master Makarov uttered those words, the man himself was nowhere to be seen. Laxus also had no idea where his grandfather went. As the guild was disbanded, everyone packed their bags and went about their way, some joined other guilds, some went to train.
Mirajane was also finished packing and was now waiting for Elfman and Lisanna. They were also supposed to head out and train somewhere in the mountains.
Laxus was waiting beside her outside the Fairy Hills. He took her hand in his and gently squeezed it. "I am going to miss you."
Mira smiled at him and gave him a hug, "Me too. Promise me you are going to write to me often."
When he didn't answer, she broke the hug and gave him a stern look, "I know you don't like writing letters but that's the only way we can keep in touch. Alright?"
"Well we can keep in touch if you were to come with me." Laxus grumbled as he crossed his arms.
"We have talked about this. For now, we need to go our separate ways. I can't leave my siblings and you won't be able to rest well if you can't find Master Makarov."
Laxus sighed but nodded, "I don't what that old man is thinking... Disbanding the guild and disappearing like that. I am worried about him."
Mira tugged at his hand and gave him a gentle and loving smile, "I am sure Master can handle himself and he will surely send a word telling us that he's alright and well."
Laxus looked a hit at ease now after hearing her words. Soon Lisanna and Elfman met them outside with their belongings and they were ready to set out.
Mirajane once again was engulfed into a hug by the blonde who held her tightly for a moment longer. Laxus brought his face closer to hers and kissed her cheek as he whispered, "Take care of yourself, alright?"
Mira nodded with a smile, "You too, Laxus."
As Mirajane and her siblings disappeared into the far horizon, Laxus felt like a piece of him was torn out of his heart. He was already feeling his girlfriend's absence, he didn't know how he's going to survive without her. Sure they had agreed to meet every month but how was he even going to wait for a month.
He looked away from the path that Mira had taken and looked up at the sky as he thought of a tomorrow where they would always be together.
A tomorrow with her sounded like a dream, a blissful and loving dream. But he knew that dream would be reality one day.
