Chapter 2 another adventure awaits

"SONIC WAKE UP!!" I jump and fall off the couch and realize it was the same dream again except this time blaze was there. As i stare at the floor i see tears hit the ground. I breath trying to slow my heart and calm down i could feel dark trying to come out. As i calm down i realize tails was next to me trying to get my attention so i look at him trying to show a bit of my normal self. "Sonic what's wrong I've never seen you Like this."

"I wont lie bud I dreamed of a bad end of the metal virus and I got to the part where eggman escaped and everyone started berating me for not being being able to save everyone." Sighs and stands up stretching popping some joints. "But its fine lets get this started bud."

"Oh I'm sorry to hear sonic it rattled me too especially when my research got destroyed. But thankfully ever since i met cc I've been feeling better." Tails said talking about his girlfriend who is an organic robot from another dimension.

"Heh well I've tried dating but everyone I've dated becomes a target and even Amy couldnt stop them from hurting her." Pauses thinking remembering the second date they had been out some thugs had knocked her out and i barely saved her from being killed. " and sides even though she was there she didn't know how to help me with the whole metal virus thing. I'm thankful for her trying to help."

"Heh sounds like you need a partner who can defend themselves and knows the burden of being a hero." Tails said with a gentle smile and a small poke to my side.

"Yeah maybe. When did you become a psychiatrist?" Giggles pulling him into a hair ruffle.

"Ahhhh sonic noooo my hair is messy enough from my flight helmet." Despite his protests tails was giggling.

"Alright fine fine." I let go of my brother giggling. "So back to business we need to go to angel island and check on the emerald's shields make sure they aren't being affected right?" Tails had with the help of knuckles and someone he wouldn't tell me about 3 years ago made a shield system for the chaos and master emaralds that only those who were connected to those emeralds could turn off. It was very handy for even though eggman wasn't a threat there was still many who sought the power. But it gave knuckles a lot of time off for his treasure hunts and dates with a certain bat that had rubbed off on me some of my jokes were more flirty than they used to be.

"That's right sonic it should be just a routine maintenance check but since you are connected to the chaos emeralds i need you and knuckles but seeing as the echidna is always there i need to convince a certain blue blur to come with." Tails smirks as he playfully glares at me.

"I get it. I get it. But remember I'm just fashionably late." I smirk and winks giving my classic thumbs up.

"You and your big ego always thinking everyone has all the time in the world for you." Tails says messing with me especially since most of my late reasons were because someone got in my way or i lost track of time, easy to do when you're the fastest thing alive.

"Yeah yeah well lets get going." I jump onto the nose of the plane. Best way to fly was with the wind in your quills. Tails shakes his head and climbs into the cockpit putting on a helmet that look like a real fox head witch looked odd on a yellow fox with two tails.

"Ready?" I nod as i hear a speaker underneath me amplify his voice. "3." Hears the jets of the tornado x start. " 2." smiles as the doors open revealing a runway. "1. Ready for take off." We shoot off the runway in seconds as my magnetic shoes hold onto the plane. I smile as i feel the wind the wind up higher was Pleasanton the face but i could feel the urge to run. I ignored it long enough to reach angel island witch was 50 miles away thankfully the tornado was fast me made it within 10 minutes as we reached the edge i jumped off wanting to stretch my legs.

It was only a 100 foot drop I'd dealt with such great heights that this barely jarred me as I stretch i watch tails head to the landing zone. "Well better not let him beat me to the knuckle head." I take off surpassing the tornado as it started its landing procedure and runs up to the master emerald. As I approach i notice knuckles standing there his arms folded obviously waiting for us. "Hey knuckle head how are you doing?"

Knuckles grunts at my nickname for him. "Hello sonic you two are late but earlier than usaul."

"Hah well i woke earlier than usual." I smile.

"That's a surprise. Sonic the hedgehog known deep sleeper woke up early." Knuckles grins.

"Heh well maybe i finally got enough sleep. But i almost did forget about the appointment if it wasn't for robotnic." I giggle.

"Oh i see eggman is finally proving useful." Knuckles grins joking about the doctor.

"Heh yeah you could say so." Smiles more as tails walks up.

"hey knuckles. Sonic you two ready?" We look at the shield around our respective emeralds and nods. I place my hand on the barrier and willed the emeralds to let their energy to disperse from the shield generator. "Alright I'll start working on them and you two watch for any threats." I nod and starts running around the island every 10 minutes to watch for any unknown incoming threats. As i ran knuckles stood next to tails so he could protect the emeralds just in case something snuck past me.

an hour later.

I stretch as i sit up front watching and spots what looks like a flying robot. "Uh that can't be good." I activate my radio. "Hey tails it may be nothing but i have a robot flying to the island."

the radio beeps. "Does it look like something you can handle on your own?'

i focus on it and notice that it looks like it was built to take on super sonic in fact it looked like a titan from starfall islands. "I'm going to go with a negative on that it looks like a mix between giganto and wyvern."

The radio beeps and the voice of a panicking tails responds. "Oh boy well i am trying to finish the chaos emeralds shield but the master emerald is complete and knuckles activated it. I would suggest getting back here"

"Ok on it." After i put the radio in my pocket i start running back. "How'd one get here there was only 4 and I destroyed them. Hmm I'm going to have to go super sonic but ill have to collect the emeralds again after." Stops at the master emerald and tries to get the emeralds but suddenly they shoot off. " what the.." i watch as all but one shoot in all directions the sapphire one lands on the robots head. "Uh knux, tails do you think we can take it on." They hesitantly nod as tails takes out his weapon.

I smirk as tails starts shooting and I spin dash into knuckles palm and he uses my momentum to throw me at it causing it to slam into the ground. I watch as i get up a few feet away as knuckles runs up its leg i start running towards it. I watch in awe as knuckles shoots up and falls down using his momentum to punch a deep dent into its back but i slow as i watch in surprise as knuckles gets covered in Liquid Metal. I suddenly am back in my nightmare watching my friends getting covered in the metal virus. I'm suddenly brought back to reality as i feel something hit me with enough force to send me sailing off the island I don't know how far i went but the last thing I remember is hitting something solid.
