Chapter 13: A Moment of Peace
As the Ghost flew away from their previous stop, Sora brought Laura to his room. He was eager to spend time with Laura.
Sora: This is my room. (As Laura looked at everything) You can stay here with me. You can add anything you want to it.
Laura gently placed her doll on a chair. Sora's smile dropped, now understanding that doll and the jumpsuit she was wearing were the only things she had. Laura then eyed a drawing Sora did. It like any normal 5-years old artwork, crudely done but cute. It was him with his best friends, Riku and Kairi.
Sora: Those are my bestest friends, Riku and Kairi. You'll love them. (Laura looks at the drawing and felt empty) Ms. Wanda says she looks forwards to meeting them.
Laura looked at Sora. Suddenly, the door opened and Wanda came in.
Wanda: You kids okay in here?
Sora: Yes, Ms. Wanda.
Wanda: (Kneeling to their level) We're going to stop by Traverse Town for supplies. So there's going to be time for a hot bath for you two.
Sora: Hot. I love hot.
Wanda smiled at Sora's claim. Arriving at Traverse Town, the group met with Merlin and Professor Von Drake.
Merlin: (As everyone exited dragging Kraven, still unconscious) Ah, my young friends. Great to see you all here.
Peter: Merlin, you mind sending Kraven back from the point in time he came from?
Ava: (Seeing the known Disney sorcerer) This seriously real?
Merlin: (Bringing his wand out) But of course, my boy.
With a wave of his wand, Merlin sent Kraven back to his original point of time.
Merlin: There, he'll return to his point in time with no memory of what happened.
Doom: Good. He was giving me the creeps.
Professor Von Drake: I'm afraid there's a bit of bad news, everyone. My onboard scanner detected a low fuel supply reading and I'm afraid it'll take a while to refuel?
Peter: (Remembering the Phantom) Can't we use the Phantom till it gets refueled? Might speed things up.
Professor Von Drake: True but it won't be able to accommodate everyone. Not to mention it wouldn't be able to cover ground zat well.
Luke: How are we able to travel to other worlds so easily, Professor?
Professor Von Drake: Originally, ze worlds were separated by Impenetrable Walls. None of them knew of zee others existence. Some worlds were simple as a normal solar system, others are as vast as an entire galaxy.
Peter: (Remembering all the alien encounters on his world) Guessing we got the Galaxy one in the lottery, right?
Professor Von Drake: Zat would be correct. Sometimes, people would inadvertently end up in other worlds through unstable portals, which is how your world gained those movies. But when zee Tears in Reality happened, they actually damaged the walls to zee point any ship can safely.
Wanda: Is that going to be a problem?
Professor Von Drake: That depends on who finds out.
Seeing the severity of the situation, everyone agreed to be extra careful. Wanda decided to do a little shopping while they were there. Doom and Sparky decided to come along. Wanda started by looking for some real clothes for Laura. They found some blue jeans, white shoes, and an adorable shirt with some puppies on it.
Wanda: You like it, Laura?
Laura nodded then pointed to Sparky playing with an orange ball.
Wanda: Sparky, careful. (Running up to him) We have to pay for this stuff.
Sora found Doom looking at some gold Sabacc Dice connected by a chain.
Sora: You like those?
Doom: Huh? (Seeing Sora) Oh, kid. Yeah, they look nice.
Sora: So let's get them for you.
Doom: Nah. We got important stuff to buy. (Walking away) Can't afford to have unessential stuff.
Sora looked at the dice and grabbed them. Wanda watched Laura grab coloring books, a sketch book, and crayons.
Wanda: You want to color and draw, Honey?
Laura looked at Wanda and nodded.
Doom: I found a basic first aid kit, ma'am.
Wanda: Perfect. Let's get everything together.
Doom: Where are the others, anyway?
Wanda: (Escorting the kids to the counter) Merlin said he needed to borrow Ava and Luke on investigating one of the Tears. Didn't say anything specific on it.
Doom: And Mr. Parker?
Wanda: (Buying everything) He didn't say where he was going.
Peter was actually at a flower shop Cheep found for him.
Peter: (To the vendor) You have anything for a special occasion?
Vendor: (Holding a patch of roses) How about these? Freshly gathered today.
Peter: (Paying) Thanks.
Back with Wanda, she was leading everyone back to the inn for the night.
Sora: (Bringing out the dice from their purchases) Here, Doom. I got these for you.
Doom: (Taking them) Thanks. That's… Thoughtful.
Sora smiled, feeling like he did a nice thing.
Wanda: Sora, that was a very nice thing you did.
Sparky: Ih.
Peter came into their room with the roses. He changed into a nice suit he bought.
Peter: (Holding his flowers) Hey Wanda, I was thinking… You wanna get some dinner together?
Wanda couldn't help but blush.
Wanda: I'd love to. Let me just get Sora and Laura to bed.
Sora rubbed his eye while Laura yawn. Using her powers to levitate them, Wanda tucked the duo into a bed. On an instinct, Laura snuggled up to Sora. Wanda smiled as she put on a nice yellow dress. Peter watched Wanda come up in her dress and he felt his heart race faster.
Wanda: Let's go.
Doom: (Watching them leave) Don't worry about the children. Me and Sparky can look after them.
The duo left the room, ready to enjoy a nice evening.
