One: I was ten minutes ago.
If you were to ask Bakugo Katsuki if his plans included taking shots of the most soul burning moonshine, chased by the utmost volatile canned beers to ever touch his lips–in the bush of butt fuck nowhere, if this was part of his family vacation plans he would have probably laughed in your face.
He was near a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, outside in the cold drinking around a large bonfire. The farmhouse belonged to one of the 'rich kids' who hosted this bash every year.
He had evidently made a 'friend'.
Sen Kaibara, the incessantly friendly staff and avid partier that always happened to be around, had convinced his parents to let him off the resort and attend Mei's biggest party of the year. It seemed like every teenager in the town was there. He couldn't imagine this type of party happening back in the city, there wouldn't be enough space.
Bakugo had completely dominated at beer pong, creating a small fan base along the way, and it was doing wonders for his ego. He even found himself joyfully singing the flip cup song before flipping and drinking down the line.
His focus changed completely when he stumbled into the farmhouse and his vision locked on a girl who was at the centre of her friends. She was sexy as hell wearing a too small pink puffy coat, black tights with insulated rubber boots and had a cheap plastic crown on the top of her head.
His heart fell into his stomach and for some reason he was suddenly very, very nervous. He jumped when someone slapped him on the back.
"Watch it motherfucker!" Bakugo snarled, whirling around to see Kaibara. He was his age and the reason Bakugo was here in the first place.
Kaibara laughed, "Hey! Go-Go! I thought I'd lost ya! Yer Ma would slaughter me if I lost ya, which would be a damned shame because yer rich ass family tips me so well."
"Tch, don't fucking do that." Bakugo grit. "You know my name isn't fucking Go-Go."
Kaibara ignored him and nodded towards the group of girls ahead. "We should go say hi. It's Raka's birthday an' she is slaughtered."
Bakugo scrunched his eyebrows. "What?"
"Dude, she never gets drunk. Like, ever." He lifted his head over to the girls. "Her cousin, Kodai's been feeding her drinks since noon. Ye're witnessing a miracle Go-Go. Raka can hold her liquor the best out of all of us. But right now, she's drunk out of her mind."
"Has she eaten?" Bakugo asked.
Kaibara shrugged. "Dunno. Let's find out!"
Anxiety filled him. "No!"
Kaibara was already walking past him towards the girls; he threw his hands up and greeted the beautiful girl that made Bakugo nervous. "Raka!" He picked her up in a hug and twirled her around. "Happy birthday Baby Girl!"
She laughed and Bakugo froze.
Fuck, her leggings showed off the tightest round ass he'd ever seen. She was so hot.
"Kaibarara! Thank youu!" He set her down with her hands over his arms and looked around him–straight to Bakugo. "Who. Is. This?"
Kaibara let her go, "Raka, this is the guest I was telling you about from the hotel."
"Shit," she gasped, walking up to him boldly. "Ye're right, he is so beaautiful."
He felt a wild blush take over. "Fucking Christ. What the actual fuck?"
She looked him up and down, making him shiver. "Dirty mouth jus' like ye said, why's that so hot?" Uraraka thought aloud.
Kaibara chuckled. "Damn Raka! Ya're really just saying what you want huh?" He turned to Bakugo. "Go-Go, didn't you have a question for her?"
"Ye've a question for mee?" Uraraka asked, full of glee. "Can't 'magine someones hot as him wantin to talks with me of all people."
Kaibara clicked his tongue. "Raka Baby, ye're easily one of the hottest girls here. Don't cha worry."
"Fuck you, Kaibara!" One of the girls called from behind him.
"Sorry Kodai! But you've to admit Raka chan really blossomed this year." Kaibrara turned to Bakugo. "Say Happy Birthday to my friend, Go-Go."
Bakugo was struggling to form words. She was a vision up close. Her cheeks were a deep pink and her big, round eyes were hard to look away from. She'd called him beautiful and she said he was hot. She was clearly too gorgeous to even be in the same room as him, but he wouldn't have a chance at all if he just stood there.
"Happy birthday Pink Cheeks." He said blankly.
A screeching laughter could be heard behind them. "Holy shit, Pink Cheeks? What a name!" The other three girls cackled behind her.
"Piss off, Kodai." Kaibara huffed.
Uararka's confidence was flying high tonight. The noise in her head that normally knocked her down was locked in a room with no key tonight. "Ya like ma pink cheeks, Hot City Boy?"
Bakugo collected himself and smirked. "Tch, what if I do?"
She grinned, staring him dead on and said brazenly, "I think I want chu for my birthday."
Bakugo's mind went blank.
"Dannnmm!"
"Oh my God, Raka!"
"Raka you can't just say that to people!"
"You don't even know him!"
Kodai huffed looking back and forth between the two and laughed. "Chaks ye're both so drunk right now, ye'd never be this desperate. He is clearly out of yer league, hun."
"Fuck." Bakugo hissed, registering the last comment. Of course she was out of his league but he'd be damned if he didn't try. "If that's what you want, Cheeks, I think I can make that happen."
He walked up and took her hand; they were full of calluses and for some reason that was even more attractive to him. He leaned into her space and whispered. "Let's go."
Uraraka didn't question it and led him to the first bathroom she could find.
–
"I think," Uraraka panted as she slumped into Bakugo's neck. "I think I get it now." Her wrists lay limply over his shoulders.
Bakugo leaned his head back panting just as hard, his fingers still digging into the skin of her hips. "Get what?"
Uraraka gasped as she pulled herself up and out. "Why people are so, so sex obsessed."
Bakugo barked out a laugh, holding her close still. "You considered that good? I lasted all of two minutes."
Uraraka sat up pushing against his shoulder to sit better on the counter and shrugged, "Pretty good fer a couple o' virgins if we're gonna compare."
As they shed their pants minutes prior, he confessed this was his first time to which she nodded and claimed the same.
"You said you were a virgin?" Bakugo spit out hastily, his face darkened. What did she mean by 'compare'? Had she tricked him? Does she think he's a loser for being a virgin? He stepped away from her.
"I mean, I was ten minutes ago. Small town ye know, evryone talks." Uraraka put a little space between them by turning around and putting the tap on in the shell shaped sink. "I sxpected this ta hurt waay more but I feel great." She looked at him in the mirror. "That was great; yer dirty talk is ten out of ten."
Bakugo smirked, his anger dissipating with the compliments. "Heh, I'll keep that in mind for the future."
"That was the best birthday present ever!" She half shouted, throwing her hands in the air. "But I feel gross." Uraraka laughed awkwardly.
"Yeah we made a fucking mess." He looked down in-between them. "Here, I made this mess, I should clean it up." He grabbed some tissue paper "Why the fuck is the sink in the shape of a shell?" he asked as he damped it.
She snorted. "Rich people like weird stuff?" She grabbed his wrist and took the wet tissue out of his hand. "I got this, but thank you. Ye're such a gentleman, are ya sure ye're a virgin?"
"I was about ten minutes ago," he said point blank.
They both started laughing uncontrollably.
"Raka chan!"
Uararka was laughing so hard there were tears in her eyes. "They found us."
His laughs died down. "Fuck em. Get dressed Cheeks."
"You're still gonna call me Cheeks?" She asked as she pulled the last item on.
"Best fucking pair of cheeks I've ever had the pleasure of seeing."
Uraraka blushed and they both got fully dressed.
"Hey." Bakugo pulled her into his arms again. "You're gonna text me right?"
Uraraka looked up and bit her lip. "If ya wan' me too. Then yeah, I'mma text you."
He ducked his head down to kiss her slowly. "Good."
They left the bathroom and were greeted with the hoard of girls who ushered her away. He found Kaibara outside once he realised that he would not be able to get her alone again.
Bakugo and Kaibara left shortly after, and it didn't occur to him until he was on the plane back home that he didn't actually get her number.
Or her name.
Five Years Later
Bakugo Katsuki is an excellent student. He dominates almost every class, and the ones he is not good at, he gets good at.
Nothing shakes him.
Except the girl who sits in front of him. He has tried on multiple occasions to talk to her, but the class leaves little room to do so.
He has very few details about her.
He knows that she wears almost the same outfit to every class, a white blouse tucked into a pair of dark pink, flared pants. Sometimes she'd switch it up with a pale orange, long flowing skirt and a plain grey hoodie. She always wore the same indigo trainers, and her concealer is always creased under her eyes.
He knows she's the last one to enter the classroom and usually the first to leave. Her phone is constantly on her desk, and her head will turn to check it a few times during class. The sensei seems to have an understanding with her; she never is berated for it.
And he knows from the class roster that her name is Uraraka Ochako.
He wonders if they shared a class previously, but then he was sure he'd remember. She is gorgeous and he feels like he has seen her somewhere before. There is such an air of familiarity that floats around her.
He actually gets so distracted by her that he ends up missing an assignment. He remembers because the day the assignment was due, she had checked her phone, raised her hand to ask to be excused then left.
She rushed past him and he picked up the subtle scent of strawberries.
He is currently complaining about said girl to his best friend and his girlfriend. Bakugo is sitting on his barstool, raging about the missed assignment, keeping a close eye on Ashido in the kitchen as she digs her way through his fridge looking for milk for her tea.
Kirishima Eijiro has listened to Bakugo complain about this girl from the first day he had a class with her. "Okay bro don't murder me," he swivels in his barstool to look his friend dead on, "but, it sounds like you have a crush on her."
"Don't be fucking ridiculous." Bakugo retorts immediately. "And for fucks sakes, the milk is on the fridge door. Who the fuck drinks milk in their tea anyway?"
"Mm, he has a point Bakugo." Ashido chirps, completely disregarding any comments about the milk. She closes his fridge and swirls the milk into her cup on the counter.
Bakugo growls and slams his fist into the counter, moving the spoon in Ashido's teacup. "Why would I have a crush on her? She is just this annoying entity that is in my way to the point that I can't even focus anymore."
Ashido cackles. "Oh my god, you have it so bad for her. What's her name?"
Bakugo rolls his eyes. "Why do you need to know?"
"Uraraka Ochako." Kirishima answers, reaching over the counter. He grabs the spoon out of her cup and licks it. He's aware that Bkaugo doesn't want that information shared, but he can't take the complaints anymore. He needs backup.
"Eijiro." Bakugo groans threateningly. He knew once Ashido got a name she would turn into Japan's most elusive private detective. She always had to know every miniscule detail of her friend's lives. It was absolutely absurd.
For the first time in all of his years of knowing her, Ashido is quiet. "Really?"
Bakugo's whole attitude changes, this cannot be good. "Yeah, you know her?"
Ashido nods and drinks the tea in almost one gulp. "Yeah, I had a class with her last semester."
Kirishima grins, clearly reading the room incorrectly. "Oh yeah?"
"Well, what the fuck is wrong with her?" Katsuki asks, watching her facial expression change from eager to sullen.
Ashido sighs. "Babe, you're best to forget about her."
Kirishima provides a soft, "Oh shit" as she speaks.
"She's not available." Ashido tries to drive her point home. "I know you like her but you should probably let that one go. I know it's hard to hear but I'm saying this as a friend: don't try to get to know her more, you'll only end up hurt."
Bakugo can physically feel his heart shift and break because of course someone as beautiful as her would already be taken. He decides to give up on her. He is not about to chase someone in a relationship.
As soon as he makes this decision, however, she turns up everywhere.
She's getting off the train as he's just getting on.
He's using his card to pay for groceries when she walks in with a basket on her arm.
She's in the mall parking lot when he visits to get a new pair of shoes.
He never goes to the mall, and there she is with a large bright blue bag on her arm. He thinks about approaching her but stops short, she seems to be texting someone as she walks purposefully in the building, weaving herself between the crowds.
He found out after a meeting with his advisor that she worked in the administration office part time until exams started.
Bakugo swears he saw her come out of the comic book store with a bag containing a limited edition All Might plushie. He isn't a stalker but he doesn't want anyone to know that he absolutely needed the model for his collection.
He's had enough. Fate clearly wanted them to be friends at least. He summons the courage to strike up a conversation with her.
He fucking knew Ashido told him to stay away but even the sound of her voice is attractive and the way her passion seems to leak out of her is amazing.
"Do you maybe want to grab a coffee and go over the assignment in more depth?" He asks, praying he doesn't sound too obvious.
There is a fluttering feeling he wills away when he sees her crack a smile. She looks so happy and she's about to respond when her phone rings.
Her face falters a little, "I'm sorry Bakugo, I need to grab this, excuse me." She gets up from the desk and puts the phone to her ear, "Hey…"
He nods his head to her. He scolds himself for staring at her perfect ass a bit too long. He doesn't mean to, but he catches the end of her call. "Okay babe, I love you. Bye."
His heart sinks, how could he forget what Ashido had said? She was taken. But coffee couldn't hurt, right?
"So, coffee?" He asks when she returns.
She gives him a small smile. "I'm extremely tight on my schedule right now, but maybe I could squeeze in a study break sometime next week?" She asks hopefully.
"Yeah, whatever works for you, Uraraka."
She smiles brightly and squeaks. "See you next class!" Before skipping out the door.
She didn't ask for his number.
It doesn't matter. Bakugo is smiling like an idiot the whole next day and cannot wait to see her in class next week, except, she doesn't show up.
He can't help but feel put off. Why wouldn't she show? He tries to think about how he can contact her. The only person he could possibly think of is, fuck, Ashido.
Ashido raises her eyebrow to him, "Why do you need her number?"
"Because I need to ask her a question for an assignment." Bakugo lies blatantly.
"I don't know if I believe you." Ashido sings.
Bakugo takes a deep breath and makes his case, "She wasn't in class last week and I need her opinion on this paper. It's a group project."
"You sure it's not because of your big fat crush on her?" she teases.
Bakugo growls, "It is for school."
"I will give you Uraraka's number on one condition." Ashido grins with her eyebrows raised. "You have to make Eijiro and I a homemade dinner. All from scratch. Whatever we want."
"Yes, fine. That's fine." Bakugo agrees immediately.
Ashido throws her hands up in the air and wiggles her hips excitedly before turning on Bakugo. "I'm serious Bakugo." She says sternly. "She's super involved with someone and please trust me when I say you won't ever come close to him."
Bakugo nods. "I know, I know. I need her number for an assignment. And just so you know I just want to be her friend. Nothing more."
Ashido huffs. "Right, Bakugo Katsuki wants to just befriend someone." She pokes him in the chest with every word she says next. "I am serious."
He rolls his eyes. "So am I."
He debates on texting her for so long, he jumps when he sees her in class the following week.
"Hey Uraraka." He greets her as she rushes in, last as always.
She jumps in surprise. "Hey Bakugo, how are things?" She asks conversationally as she pulls out her supplies from her bag.
"You didn't show for class last week, is everything good?" He asks, hoping he doesn't sound desperate.
There is a faint blush that dusts her face and it is not lost on him.
She nods. "Yeah, last week was a lot." She says with a nervous laugh.
He speaks without really thinking. "I can go over last week's shit if you want?"
She beams into a smile. "That would be great, but," she hesitates. "I just don't have the time really."
"Tch, I get that, I can email them to you?" He proposes.
"Yeah!" She says enthusiastically. "Here." She scrawls her school appointed email and her number. Her pen drags on the last digit as if she's just realised what she'd done.
She keeps her eyes on the paper.
"Is it okay if I text you with any questions I might have?" She asks apprehensively.
YES, YES, FUCK YES! He screamed internally. "Yeah, that's cool."
He shouldn't be wasting his time waiting for a text of all things–but he is and a few days later when she finally reaches out with some questions he dives right into it. They go back and forth for a while and soon he gets a coveted sliver of her time with her outside of class and outside of their text chain.
It's exam season and in the midst of the stress of cramming she agrees to meet him in the library.
After a few hours they decide to take a break and she steps out for a moment to make a phone call. He really, truly does not mean to, but he catches the last part of her call. "I love you so much, babe. I can't wait to come home and cuddle with you. I promise, I have to get back now. I love you."
It fucks him up a little more than it should. They get along so well. Just being in her space calms him down and he doesn't know how, but the cuss words he's trying to keep to himself makes her laugh when they slip out.
Why did she have to have a stupid fucking boyfriend? The more time he spends with her, the more he notices things he didn't see before. She carries a shit ton of stuff with her. Hand sanitizers, tissues, extra socks, once he swore he saw her whip out wet wipes from a plastic bag when her fingers got too messy.
Uraraka always has convenience store snacks in her purse, and almost always snacks while she writes. He finds it incredibly odd and impressive to multitask like that. In fact, she's usually multi-tasking. Uraraka will type away on her phone whilst giving him a detailed answer to a case study.
She looks so tired when they meet for cram sessions, even more so drained when they meet at night. "Hey, it's pretty fucking late and you're like a zombie. Let me walk you to the train." Bakugo says as he notices her eyes have fluttered shut a few times back in the library.
She seems to wake up at the offer. "Ah, no it's okay I'm meeting up with someone on the way home," she says with a smile. "Are we okay to meet again tomorrow? I'm free after seven, if that's okay."
He is so frustrated but respects her wishes. Shrugging, he responds. "Works for me."
After exams, she's no longer in his class and for a few weeks he's in a right foul mood about it. Kirishima has had just about enough of his whining.
"I'm about to say this because you are my friend." Kirishima says sternly.
"Fucking what?" Bakugo growls back.
"Listen, what I am about to say is very unmanly." He looks him dead in the eyes and it catches Bakugo off guard. "If you want her, you gotta fight for her."
"She's not fucking property. And she's in a serious relationship." Bakugo groans in frustration.
Kirishima argues. "Okay. So make her see that you're the better choice."
Bakugo looks at him like he's crazy. She has a boyfriend and seemed to be pretty happy with that arraignment from what he can tell. "Pinky's gonna be mad as hell."
"It's worth a shot. What if she's your soulmate?" Kirishima says indignantly.
Bakugo thinks that maybe for once he should take his shot at love. Sure, he's been in relationships before, none lasting more than a month, but he's never liked his partner with as much enthusiasm.
No other person has ever made him feel this crazy before. His brain seems to have taken a back seat and he's really considering letting his heart take charge.
If she turned him down he would have peace that it wasn't meant to be. Then he'd have to accept it and move on.
The next time he sees her she's in line for coffee, but he stops short of saying hello when a beast of a green haired man cuts the line to stand next to her.
He clearly startled her. She jumped at his presence and Bakugo was ready to charge over and ask him what his problem was. But then she laughs and he takes her slightly off the floor with his hug.
He narrows his vision to see the large man's face and fucking hell it's godanmed, fucking Deku of all people: his childhood pain in the ass. He hasn't seen him since high school graduation.
What the fuck was he even doing here? According to his mother he graduated last year from a completely different school. And then suddenly everything clicked.
Uraraka is dating fucking Deku.
