Zelda was a mess.
To any onlookers, she looked like she had just been through hell and back.
Her hair was messed up, her clothes were ripped, and she had burns all over her body.
And the truth was, shehadjust been through hell and back.
The Demon King...h-he had justmurderedeveryone she loved!
Zelda had been forced to sit back and watch as all her friends, and her only hope in this strange new world, were killed off, one by one.
She had barely made it out alive herself, and that was only because Rauru had sacrificed himself to imprison the Demon King.
And Link...
Link.
She didn't even know if he was alive. Her best friend, her knight, her companion, her true love...
No. Don't think like that. He's too strong to have died.
But either way, how could he defeat the Demon King?
Zelda had witnessed his rise. Ganondorf's imprisonment wouldn't last forever.
And when he had awoken, he had destroyed the Master Sword!
In doing so, shattering their only hope of victory.
Link had been badly injured, and Zelda didn't even know if he was alive or not!
After all Link had done for her, he would fail. Without the Master Sword, he would die!
"Why! Why, must you take everything I love away from me!" She shouted.
But no one was there to hear her.
Zelda fell to the ground. Tears slipped from her eyes.
Clink
Looking down, Zelda noticed the tear had come loose from her necklace.
The tear.
Looking back up at the decayed Master Sword, she had a dangerous thought.
There was one way she could help him. After all he had done for her, she could finally pay him back. All the suffering, all the pain. And now she could repay him.
Taking the tear in her sweaty palm, she stood up.
Gripping it tightly, she knew what she must do.
There was no backing down from this.
It was either this, or death for everyone back at her world.
This would at least give Link a chance.
It was dangerous. She knew it was. She would lose everything. Her body, her mind, her soul, and everything she had ever loved. But it was worth it. She would do it. She would wait a million years, however long it took. She would do it.
For him.
I will bathe this sword in sacred light until the time comes. When it does, take up this sword with pride, knowing I have poured my heart and soul into this blade. I will restore the Master Sword for you. Go forth Link, and slay the Demon King!
She lifted the tear up high.
No other choice...
She ate the tear.
The sky went dark.
Everything seemed to stop. No critter moved, no bird sung, nothing could be heard...
Until the light came.
Screaming, Zelda collapsed.
The pain was unbearable.
But Link, if he had gone through pain before, so could she.
Stumbling to her feet, Zelda grabbed the Master Sword and clutched it to her chest.
And then she lost it.
She lost everything. Her mind, her body, her soul.
Everything was gone.
Tales tell, if you look carefully at the sky, you will notice a dragon.
A dragon floating through the empty skies alone.
Waiting, waiting for someone. A hero perhaps, no one can tell.
But legend says one day a Hero will come, and save her.
But, just between you and me, sheisthe Hero.
She's done it all, paid the price, sacrificed everything.
